• Broken tables in RichTextBox control (word wrap)

  We are having problems with the Windows.Forms.RichTextBox control in Visual Studio 2008. We are trying to display text supplied as an RTF file by a 3rd party in a windows forms application (.NET 3.5). In this RTF text file there are tables, which contain text that spans multiple lines. The RTF file displays correctly when opened with either WordPad or Word 2003. However, when we load the RTF file into the RichTextBox control, or copy & paste the whole text (including the table) into the control, the table does not display correctly - the cells are only single line, without wrapping. I have found this exact problem asked on another forum without an answer (in fact that's where the link to the images come from) so I'm hoping stack overflow does better ;-) My preferred solution would be to use code or a 3rd party control that can correctly render the RTF. However, I suspect the problem is that the RichTextBox control only supports a subset of the full RTF spec, so another option would be to modify the RTF directly to remove the unsupported control codes or otherwise fix the RTF file itself (in which case any information as to what control codes need to be removed or modified would be a huge help).

• URL Encoding using C#

  I have an application which I've developed for a friend. It sends a POST request to the VB forum software and logs someone in (with out setting cookies or anything). Once the user is logged in I create a variable that creates a path on their local machine. c:\tempfolder\date\username The problem is that some usernames are throwing "Illegal chars" exception. For example if my username was mas|fenix it would throw an exception.. Path.Combine( _ Environment.GetFolderPath(System.Environment.SpecialFolder.CommonApplicationData), _ DateTime.Now.ToString("ddMMyyhhmm") + "-" + form1.username) I don't want to remove it from the string, but a folder with their username is created through FTP on a server. And this leads to my second question. If I am creating a folder on the server can I leave the "illegal chars" in? I only ask this because the server is Linux based, and I am not sure if Linux accepts it or not.. EDIT: It seems that URL encode is NOT what I want.. Here's what I want to do: old username = mas|fenix new username = mas%xxfenix Where %xx is the ASCII value or any other value that would easily identify the character.

• What's all this fuss about?

  Hi guys, At the beginning I want to state that it is not my intention to upset anyone who uses/like language other than C++. I'm saying that due to the fact that on one forum everytime when I've tried to ask questions of similiar nature I was almost always accused of trying to create a raw. Ok that's having done this is my question: I don't understand why java/c# creators thought/think that having something like vm and having source code compiled to bytecode instead of native code is in a long run any advantage. And why having function compiled for a first time when they are invoked is any advantege? And what's the story about write once run everywhere? When I think about the business of having something written once and it can run everywhere - well in theory this is all well. But I know for a fact that in practice it doesn't look that well at all. It is rather like write once test everywhere. And why would I preffer something to be compiled on runtime instead of compiletime. If I would have to wait even one hour longer for program to be installed once and for all and all the compilation would be done and nothing would be compiled after that I would preffer that. And I don't really know how it works in the real world (I'm a student never worked in IT business) but for example if I have working program written in C++ for Windows and I have wish to move it to another platform wouldn't I have to take my source code and compile it on desired machine? So in other words isn't that rather problem of having compiler which will compile source code on different machines (as far as I'm concerned there is just one C++ and source code will look identical in every machine). And last but not least if you think about it how many programs they are which are really word porting? I personnally can think of 3 maybe four.

• Compiling a DLL which includes Ogre3D gives an assertion error when used

  Hi, I have a framework that I am building and is being compiled into a static library to be used by other projects. The library works perfectly without issues. The problem is that the link time is very long for the projects that use the library so I thought I will make a DLL project of the same framework. I started with baby steps and created an MFC DLL project through visual studio. When a project uses the compiled DLL and constructs this (OgreCore) class, it works perfectly fine. As soon as uncomment one of the Ogre includes and compile the DLL again, the project that uses the DLL now gives an assertion error. The full details can be found here in the Ogre forum post. • Is there a workaround for JDBC w/liquibase and MySQL session variables & client side SQL instructions

  Slowly building a starter changeSet xml file for one of three of my employer's primary schema's. The only show stopper has been incorporating the sizable library of MySQL stored procedures to be managed by liquibase. One sproc has been somewhat of a pain to deal with: The first few statements go like use TargetSchema; select "-- explanatory inline comment thats actually useful --" into vDummy; set @@session.sql_mode='TRADITIONAL' ; drop procedure if exists adm_delete_stats ; delimiter $$ create procedure adm_delete_stats( ...rest of sproc I cut out the use statement as its counter-productive, but real issue is the set @@session.sql_mode statement which causes an exception like liquibase.exception.MigrationFailedException: Migration failed for change set ./foobarSchema/sprocs/adm_delete_stats.xml::1293560556-151::dward_autogen dward: Reason: liquibase.exception.DatabaseException: Error executing SQL ... And then the delimiter statement is another stumbling block. Doing do dilligence research I found this rejected MySQL bug report here and this MySQL forum thread that goes a little bit more in depth to the problem here. Is there anyway I can use the sproc scripts that currently exist with Liquibase or would I have to re-write several hundred stored procedures? I've tried createProcedure, sqlFile, and sql liquibase tags without much luck as I think the core issue is that set, delimiter, and similar SQL commands are meant to be interpreted and acted upon by the client side interpreter before being delivered to the server.

• Passing html parameters to server odd problem

  Hey all i am having a weird problem with sending data back to my server. The NSLog output for each value is correct. But for some reason when i put a break on the IF ([data isEqualToString:@"Done"]) it has no return value. I checked each value for what it was sending (and again, it was correct in the NSLog output) and i found that the value "theID" said "Out of scope". Although, again, the NSLog had the value in it correctly? So i searched the forum and found a simular problem. I took their advice and added "RETAIN" to the "theID" value like so: theID = [customObjInstance TID]; [theID retain]; However, that did not solve the issue... • multi thread apps crashes in release mode

  Hello, I'm using Visual Studio 2008 (programming in c). I've a weird problem I worte a program that has 2 threads that runs simultaneously, a recording thread (using audio card to record into memory) and a translation thread (using a speech engine to recognize the words). when I run my program in debug mode (aka setting a breakpoint in the code) it runs great, however when I run in debug mode or release mode (outside the visual studio enviroment) it crashes and give me the following exception: "Unhandled exception at 0x7c911129 in LowLevel.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x014c7245." • css positioning

  Hello, I have uploaded a part of my screen below (link: http://yfrog.com/0d30127380p) It is part of a forum, so there are elements above and below it. The "Response Req.. Date" has a label, a date picker, and two drop down select control for time. I tried setting the width of the datepicker element, and a right margin so that the time selectors would position next to it. But it always sit below it. • Hiding a UINavigationController's UIToolbar during viewWillDisappear:

  I've got an iPhone application with a UITableView menu. When a row in the table is selected, the appropriate view controller is pushed onto the application's UINavigationController stack. My issue is that the MenuViewController does not need a toolbar, but the UIViewControllers which are pushed onto the stack do. Each UIViewController that gets pushed calls setToolbarHidden:animated: in viewDidAppear:. To hide the toolbar, I call setToolbarHidden:animated: in viewWillDisappear:. Showing the toolbar works, such that when the pushed view appears the toolbar slides up and the view resizes correctly. However, when the back button is pressed the toolbar slides down but the view does not resize. This means that there's a black strip along the bottom of the view as the other view transitions in. I've tried adding the toolbar's height to the height of the view prior to hiding the toolbar, but this causes the view to be animated during the transition so that there's still a black bar. I realise I can manage my own UIToolbar, but I'd like to use UINavigationControllers built in UIToolbar for convenience. This forum post mentions the same issue, but no workaround is mentioned.

• Source Control - XCode - Visual Studio 2005/2008 / 2010

  My apologies if this has been asked before, I wasnt quite sure if this question should be asked on a programming forum, as it more relates to programming environment than a particular technology, so please accept my (double) appologies if I am posting this in the wrong place, my logic in this case was if it effects the code I write, then this is the place for it. At home, I do a lot of my development on a Mac Pro, I do development for the Mac, iPhone and Windows on this machine (Xcode & Visual Studio - (multiple versions installed in bootcamp, but generally I run it via Parallels)). When visiting a client, I have a similar setup, but on my MacBook Pro. What I want is a source control solution to install on the Mac Pro, that will support both XCode and multiple versions of visual studio, so that when I visit a client, I can simply grab the latest copy from source control via the MacBook Pro. Whilst visiting the client, he / she may suggest changes, and minor ones I would tend to make on site, so I need the ability to merge any modified code back into the trunk of the project / solution when I return home. At the moment, I am using no source control at all, and rely on simply coping folders and overwriting them when I return from a client- thats my 'merge'!!! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a source provider I could use, which would support both Windows and Mac development environments, and is cheap (free would be better).

• How do I test OpenCL on GPU when logged in remotely on Mac?

  My OpenCL program can find the GPU device when I am logged in at the console, but not when I am logged in remotely with ssh. Further, if I run the program as root in the ssh session, the program can find the GPU. The computer is a Snow Leopard Mac with a GeForce 9400 GPU. If I run the program (see below) from the console or as root, the output is as follows (notice the "GeForce 9400" line): 2 devices found Device #0 name = GeForce 9400 Device #1 name = Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz but if it is just me, over ssh, there is no GeForce 9400 entry: 1 devices found Device #0 name = Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz I would like to test my code on the GPU without having to be root. Is that possible? • Best Practices for Setup and Management of an Open Source Project

  Later this year I want to release a PHP framework that I've been working on as open source. I do use source control (SVN), but it's on an extremely limited basis. I'm self-taught, I develop by myself and don't have the experience of working with large teams. I have some ideas about what can help make a project successful, but I'm fuzzy on some of the details. Since it's not yet released, I want to do everything I can to set up the right infrastructure from the beginning. What do I need to know in order to setup and manage a successful project? Some ideas that I have to make it successful (beyond marketing it): Good documentation and tutorials Automated unit tests and builds to push update to the website A clear roadmap Bug Tracking integrated with the source control A style guide to keep the code consistent along with clear A forum for the community to get support, share ideas, etc. A good example application built with the framework A blog to keep the community informed Maintaining backwards compatibility wherever possible Some of my questions: How do I setup and automate a one step submit-test-commit-generate API docs-push update to website process? How do I handle (technically) submissions from other users? How can I ensure that those submissions must be approved before being integrated? What are some of the pitfalls that can be avoided in terms of the project community? I'd prefer to have it be as friendly and helpful as possible without a lot of drama. I'd love to learn from your experience on any of these points. If you think I'm missing anything big, please share that as well. Any resources (preferably geared toward a beginner) that you could point me towards would also be greatly appreciated.

• Entire Table is pushed to the next page when rendering a SSRS 2005 Report (as .pdf) in SSRS 2008

  I have a SSRS 2005 report that I'm rendering in SSRS 2008 as a .pdf. The report contains (among other things) a table that's very simple: header row, details, no footer, no aggregation, no grouping, keep together = false, pageBreakAtStart = false, pageBreakAtEnd = false, repeatHeaderOnNewPage = true. I resized the table to be much narrower than the body of the report just to be sure it wasn't extending beyond the bounds of the report, pushing everything down. But, no matter what I try, if some of the detail rows in that table would need to be pushed to the next page, then the ENTIRE TABLE is pushed to the next page, not just the extra rows. So my question is: Is there a workaround for this problem, is this a known issue, or is it even possible to get this 2005 report to render properly in 2008? NOTE: this is related to a question that I previously asked here, and is based on this MSDN forum post started by a coworker. This question is not the same as my previous question, as I'd like to see things work properly in with a 2005 report. If it's not possible, that would be good to know, as it would indicate that we need to upgrade one of our servers to SQL 2008. Thanks!

• Insert video clip in a lyx presentation and play it in GNU/Linux.

  How can I insert a video clip into a presentation created in Lyx? Have seen http://www.latex-community.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=48. It works, but there the video starts in the background in an external player. I would prefer it to be played in the presentation itself. If an external player is used it it should at least start in the foreground. But the presentation takes the foreground. Using evince in GNU/linux as pdf viewer. Beamer is used as a presentation template. Is it possible to play a video file in an embedded player in the presentation itself? Created an example presentation. • Question - Setting dynamic HTML using Javascript to iFrames on Windows Mobile 6.1 - IE Mobile6

  Hi Experts, (excuse me if this is not the right forum to post - i couldn't find anything related to non-native programming and related to this topic) I Am trying to set a dynamic HTML into an iFrame on the webpage. I have tried a couple of things but none of them seem to work. I m able to read the innerHTML but can't seem to update it. // Able to read using document.getElementById('iFrameIdentifier').innerHTML; // On Desktop IE, this code works document.getElementById('iFrameId').contentWindow.document.open(); document.getElementById('iFrameId').contentWindow.document.write(dynamicHTML); document.getElementById('iFrameId').contentWindow.document.close(); Ideally the same function should work as how it works for div's but it says 'Object doesn't support this method or property". I have also tried document.getElementById('iFrameId').document.body.innerHTML. This apparently replaces the whole HTML of the page and not just the innerHTML. I have tried out a couple of things and they didn't work document.getElementById('iFrameId').body.innerHTML document.frames[0].document.body.innerHTML My purpose is to have a container element which can contain dynamic HTML that's set to it. I've been using it well till now when I observed that the setting innerHTML on a div is taking increasing amount of time because of the onClicks or other JS methods that are attached to the anchors and images in the dynamic HTML. Appears the JS methods or the HTML is some how not getting cleaned up properly (memory leak?) • Can I use RegFree Com with an application written in Excel VBA?

  I have an application that is written in Excel VBA, myApp.xls. Currently we use InstallShield to distribute the application. Since we are moving to Windows Vista, I need to be able to install the application as a standard user. This does not allow for me to update the registry during the install process. In addition to the excel application we also have several VB6 applications. In order to install those applications, I was able to use RegFree com and Make My Manifest (MMM) as suggested by people on this forum (I greatly appreciate the insight btw!). This process, although a bit tedious, worked well. I then packaged the output from MMM in a VS '05 installer project and removed the UAC prompt on the msi using msiinfo.exe. Now I am faced with installing an application that basically lives in an Excel file. I modified a manifest that MMM created for me for one of my VB6 apps and tried to run the excel file through that, but I did not have much luck. Does anybody know of a way to do this? Does RegFree com work with VBA? Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Steve

• UCMA 3.0 How to build a list of recipients and then broadcast an IM call to those recipients

  I am developing an application using UCMA 3.0 that will run as a service and send out periodic 'broadcasts' in the form of Instant Message calls. I have been using the book "Professional Unified Communications Development with Microsoft Lync Server 2010" and have everything provisioned fine and am able to establish an application endpoint. I am stuck on two aspects though. 1) How to get a list of all users of Lync? Everything the UCMA can do is centered on a single user. For example it allows me to retrieve all contacts/groups present on a given users 'contact list' but does not provide any means to query for a list of available contacts that could be added to one of those contact lists. On the MSDN forum I found this post which leads me to think my best bet is simply to query AD directly. 2) What is the best way to actually send a broadcast style IM? My working premise is to attempt something like what I've found in this code example (specifically the public void SendIM() method). So, get a list of recipients from AD, (looping on each on to check current presence?), and then use Automation to make the IM call for each recipient in the collection. Does that make sense? Do I need to check presence of the recipient or do I just optimistically make the IM calls irregardless of their current presence status? Can anyone point me to some working code demonstrating sending an IM broadcast? You would think this is probably one of the most common use cases however the SDK samples do not cover it.   Hi, It should be so simple. I've followed every tutorial and forum I could find, yet I can't get it to work. I simply want to build a RESTful API in PHP on Apache2. In my VirtualHost directive I say: <Directory /> AllowOverride All <Limit GET HEAD POST PUT DELETE OPTIONS> Order Allow,Deny Allow from all </Limit> </Directory> Yet every PUT request I make to the server, I get 405 method not supported. Someone advocated using the Script directive, but since I use mod_php, as opposed to CGI, I don't see why that would work. People mention using WebDAV, but to me that seems like overkill. After all, I don't need DAV locking, a DAV filesystem, etc. All I want to do is pass the request on to a PHP script and handle everything myself. I only want to enable PUT and DELETE for the clean semantics. Thanks, Andreas

• Unable to download .apk via webbrowser from drupal site

  I have a drupal-based website where people can log in and see private discussion forums. This is where I want to have my beta testers for my Android application download the beta .apk files. I tested this thoroughly on my Android 1.6 based myTouch 3G, and was able to log in, and download files attached to forum posts without problems. Now comes the interesting part: my testers on Droids and Nexus Ones (Android 2.0.1 and 2.1) were complaining that their downloads are failing. Since I don't have an 2.0 phone, I tried it out in a 2.0 emulator, and lo-and-behold, it didn't work. The download shows the indeterminate progress for a second or two, then shows "Download unsuccessful". Based on what I see in the logs, it is apparent that the server is returning a 404 for the download request from 2.0 browsers. I can download to my desktop and 1.6 phone no problem. The only reason I can think of that the server would return a 404 for a request is that for some reason the credentials or cookies aren't being passed by the download process.   Although I have seen dozens of forum questions relating to "Could not load type", none of the advice in them seemed to apply to my situation. I wrote a new web application using aspx.net VB 2005. It is tiny, with just 2 pages, 1 of which has no code-behind. It runs aok in the IDE but when I installed it on my pc (and also when installed on the production server), and tried to run it this error came up: Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. • Using NHibernate's HQL to make a query with multiple inner joins

  The problem here consists of translating a statement written in LINQ to SQL syntax into the equivalent for NHibernate. • Android beginner: understanding MotionEvent actions

  I am having trouble getting my activity to return a MotionEvent.ACTION_UP. Probably a beginner's error. In LogCat, I'm only seeing the ACTION_MOVE event (which is an int value of 3). I also see the X/Y coordinates. No ACTION_DOWN and no ACTION_UP. I looked everywhere for a solution.
