  • Disable Charm bar's Touchpad gesture shortcut

    I'm using an Acer AO722 laptop. Everytime I slide my finger from the right edge of the touchpad (where the slider is) toward the center (mostly accidentally), the charmbar pops up and stays on the screen until I manually click on some random spots on the screen. There's no such option in the Synaptics properties: .. nor is there any in the mouse option. Is there a way to turn this shortcut off?

    my new seagate sata drive keeps showing as a 249gb drive but in the setup part when i press del at the boot up it states there a 3000gb drive and i have searched for a solution but havent found one yet. I havent tried in a different pc yet and I have an asus gaming board with 2 video cards sli'ed and i have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit with 8gb ram and a hp 23" widescreen monitor and the sniper gaming case and a salitek lighted up gaming keyboard and a razor death adder gaming mouse and a corsair 850 watt power supply. Any help would be great and appriciated

  • Remote Desktop to Windows 2008 hosted in VirtualBox makes host unresponsive

    I have installed Windows 2008 R2 SP1 in a VirtualBox VM. It works fine, except that if I Remote Desktop (RDP) to the VM from the host (machine running VirtualBox, Windows 7 SP1), after a minute or so the windows shell becomes unresponsive. I can no longer start task manager, open the start menu or switch applications. Keyboard input also drops some keys. Mouse movement is not affected. Any idea what is causing this? NB: This is Windows RDP, not the remote display built into VirtualBox

    Cooling fan necessary for a laptop similar to the ASUS K73E? I'm not entirely sure about this, after working with one the other day for a client, it seemed like it was running pretty cool, but I'm not sure if the computer was actually running cool or if it had more to do with IceCool Technology feature that keeps the mouse and palm rest area cool. The bottom of the laptop didn't seem very warm either...does anyone have any experience with the ASUS K73E where the thing burned up with normal usage?

  • HTLM notes in freemind

    Hi, I wonder if the following things can be done with the HTML notes pane of freemind: 1- is it possible on the layout view to decrease the separation between lines? 2- the panel is horizontal, is it possible to setup a vertical view? (I have a big, horizontal-like monitor) By the way, when I move the mouse pointer over a node, i can see the HTLM note associated with it, but its view (as a yellow square) only lasts for some seconds.     I need dual screen for my web developer job but when I do illustrations I prefer to work on a single screen to avoid the stretching of the workspace which affects tablet's precision. Is there a way to make my tablet work only on my primary screen and, at the same time, use mouse for both screens? I've looked into my tablet's preferences and haven't found it.     On my Ubuntu 12.04 I connected my monitor to the onboard intel graphics. I'd like to use my ati radeon 6770 for opencl tasks (e.g. bitcoin mining). So far I couldn't figure out how to get the ati driver working. When calling "aticonfig --initial -f" it always writes a new xorg.conf that ignores the intel graphics. At boot time it works only when I attached the monitor to the ati card.     Ever since FireFox 4, page tabs have been moved to the top of the window. This gets pretty irritating when surfing the net through a remote desktop session. Often when I want to switch tabs, if I accidentally move my mouse a little to much to the top, I get the remote desktop connection bar blocking the tabs instead, then I'd have to wait a few frustrating seconds before it disappears again. So, are there any methods to shrink or shorten the remote desktop connection bar or delay the appearance of it?

  • Auto-hide taskbar in Chrome

    I use the auto-hide taskbar feature and I have problems with Google Chrome when it is maximized: the taskbar will not pop up at mouse hover over the taskbar position (really annoying). I know that Google admits it is a bug and it hasn't been fixed yet, and probably it will never be fixed. My question is if you know a workaround to avoid this issue.

  • Windows XP: Make Google Chrome's minimize, restore and close buttons match other programs?

    I like the way Google Chrome puts the tabs above the address bar, but I don't like the way the minimize, restore, close buttons are a different shape to every other program's. It means that if I sit the mouse in the top corner and minimize everything, I find that I've restored Chrome, not minimized it. Is there any way to get these buttons to a normal shape and size? That's Firefox in front, looking normal, like every other program, and Chrome above and behind, with the buttons at an off-standard position and size.

  • Windows only successfully wakes up from sleep mode about 2/3rds of the time.

    On my Vista laptop, when it goes into sleep mode (for low power, or manually being put into sleep mode, it happens regardless of how), about 1 in 3 times it won't wake up properly from sleep mode, and just display a black screen. The only option is to hold the power button to turn it off by holding the power button, and turning it back on again. (And yes, I have moved the mouse, pressed keyboard buttons and stuff).

    Exactly the opposite of http://superuser.com/questions/101482/global-scroll-acceleration-in-windows, is there a way to disable scroll-accelartion on windows (touchpad -- maybe from lenovo drivers). It's heck of annoying -- using no accelartion but high sensitivity like on linux is so much more precise. ( With this silly acceleration, I either have incredibly slow scrolling, or scrolling so fast it skips whole chunks of text at once. Speed control but not acceleration control. Could say the same for mouse cursor, though that's less annoying. )

    My laptop has a slightly damaged lcd - it has a black strip on the right that reduces the working resolution from 1400x1050 to about 1375x1050 - thus hiding part of the right edge of the desktop, windows, or the mouse pointer should it be unwise enough to stray there. Is there a way in linux to crop the monitor output so as to keep the screen inside the working area of the monitor? edit: this is the same question as Limit video output to a section of a display and leave the rest blank

  • "Safely Remove Hardware" icon keeps reverting to "Only show notifications"

    I have the 'Safely Remove Hardware' tray icon set to 'Show icon and notifications' to save a mouse click when removing a USB device but every few weeks the setting reverts to 'Only show notifications'. Does anyone know what causes this and/or how I can prevent it? I'm using Windows 7 SP1 64bit with a fairly bare installation (the machine hosts a set of virtual machines that I use to do my work).   • Anyone know how to get dual screens working on a Dell E6410 laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit?

    I've installed the drivers from nVidia. When I go into the NVIDIA X Server Settings application, in the X Server Display Configuration setcion, and click the "Configure" button, "TwinView" is disabled. Also, clicking "Detect Displays" doesn't pick up my monitor (which is connected through a port replicator - keyboard and mouse in that port replicator work fine). Has anyone else seen this? Is this just a limitation of the current nvidia linux drivers?
