  • Querying Domain Controller objects using Powershell

    Could someone explain to me why this does not work? Import-Module ActiveDirectory $dcs = Get-ADComputer -Filter {DistinguishedName -Like "*Domain Controllers*"} I get no results for this query. Alternatively, could someone suggest a way using the module above that I can generate a list of systems on my domain that are NOT Domain Controllers (which is what I'm eventually trying to achieve).     I'm just starting a trial of ForeFront TMG to use as a proxy server. I know I can get a real time activity monitor and filter on a per user basis, but would like to be able to get a real time activity monitor of all users that I can then sort by bandwidth consumed (enabling me to get a view on who the bandwidth hogs are). Does anyone know if this is possible in Forefront TMG or if a third party product is required? Thanks. JR

    I want my thunderbird in my dock show all of my unread mail (prefer show it separated) somthing like DockStar for Mail.app: I use gmail filter so some of my mail skip inbox and just get proper label and my thunderbird show them in the folder: My problem is that my thunderbird just notify me of my unread mail in my inbox and if I have many mail in folder that is new until I open thunderbird windows I don't notify of them: are there any solution for this problem?

    I'm using Google Apps for my domain's e-mail via IMAP. Whenever I send mail to a mailing list, I don't receive a copy of my own mail back in my inbox. According to Google, this is a "feature." Is there a way to disable this "feature" so that all mail I send to mailing lists appears in my inbox just like all other e-mail? Perhaps something along the lines of this method for disabling Google's spam filter??

    Every time I create a pivot table (available for all Excel versions) I get one or several blank fields. How can I get rid of them? One workaround I used was to select the blank field, right click | Filter | Hide Selected Items. This can solve my problem but I need to do it manually... Is there a way to automatically hide/exclude the blanks?

I've tried the following : Create a custom list, add a field named "TestField" Create a personal view named "TestView", filter : Show when column "TestField" is equal to "" (leave the box empty) Create an alert, immediate email when items appearing in "TestView" are modified Create an item with both fields filled Create an item with only title filled Now you should receive two alert emails, but in the view "TestView" there is only one item. Is it a bug ?

  • SSH socks proxy tunnel without interactive session?

    I use ssh -D 1080 myhost.org ...to open up an SSH tunnel from my work machine to my home machine, so as to bypass the idiotic content filter on the corporate firewall. However this also creates an interactive SSH session that lives the whole time I'm using the tunnel. Is there any way to tell SSH just to create the tunnel and not bother with the interactive session?

[asterisk-iptables] enabled = true filter = asterisk action = iptables-allports[name=ASTERISK, protocol=all] sendmail-whois[name=ASTERISK, [email protected], [email protected]] logpath = /var/log/asterisk/messages maxretry = 5 bantime = 259200 Removing the sendmail-whois stops it, but it also stops the ban notifications, how can I get it to stop notifying me when the process starts/stops?     Hi When I'm making voip calls with twinkle I can hear myself via the speakers. It's not like an echo you might get in empty room for example. While this is useful if you're trying to check if your mic is working, it's annoying when you're trying to have a conversion. Constantly trying to filter out your own voice. I'm using twinkle as my client. Is it my client or is it a setting on my ATA/ mic configuration?

I tried taskkill /FI "WINDOWTITLE eq *Conversation" /IM communicator.exe but the wildcard pattern starting with a '*' does not seem to work. Gives the folowing error ERROR: The search filter cannot be recognized. any suggestions for a workaround would be greatly appreciated!

  • pfsense log file retention

    We have a pfSense firewall in our datacentre. By default, pfSense is only storing 500K of firewall filter logs, which is only a few hours for us. How can I increase this? pfSense uses clog rather than the usual BSD newsyslog. I only want the log for debugging firewall rules, not compliance or anything, and the firewall has 100GB of spare disk space, so I'd rather have the logs on the firewall itself than set up a syslog server.

  • Batch file to uninstall all Sun Java versions?

    I'm setting up a system to keep Java in our office up to date. Everyone has all different versions of Java, many of them old and insecure, and some dating back as far as 1.4. I have a System Center Essentials server which can push out and silently run a .msi file, and I've already tested that it can install the latest Java. But old versions (such as 1.4) aren't removed by the installer, so I need to uninstall them. Everyone is running Windows XP. The neat coincidence is that Sun just got bought by Oracle and Oracle has now changed all the instances of "Sun" to "Oracle" in Java. So, I can conveniently not have to worry about uninstalling the latest Java, because I can just do a search and uninstall all Sun Java programs. Reading through the script, I don't understand everything, but I don't know why it is trying to run pieces of registry keys as programs. What is wrong with the batch script? How can I fix it, so that I can move on to somehow turning it into a MSI and deploying it to everyone to clean up this office? Or alternatively, can you suggest a better solution or existing MSI file to do what I need? I just want to make sure to get all the old versions of Java off of everyone's computers, since I've heard of exploits that cause web pages to load using old versions of Java and I want to avoid those.
