• What is your best solution for task management?

  I have Outlook at work, Gmail at home and a BlackBerry (only syncs with work Outlook). I see that there are a number of online websites that support webbased task lists such as "remember the milk", etc. My biggest issue with Outlook is that I flag a number of emails as tasks and they show up as tasks in Outlook but NOT on my BlackBerry. I still haven't found a workaround to this. I see there is some BlackBerry sync tools but I am not sure if this will work with my corporate network. Any suggestions for getting this to work or another optimal task management solution that works at home, work and on the road?

  Newbie question: I've got the following set up, the server 2008, the iis and the smtp. I've my mydomain.com set up with DNS pointing to my public ip, www and smtp both. Now I'll be sending alot of emails from my web app to people and this works fine. What I also want is for people to be able to send us email. Please point me in the right direction. Primary objective: [email protected] -- [email protected] Secondary objective, for extra love: [email protected] -- [email protected] and [email protected] -- [email protected] Do I need a popserver? Any tutorials people can recommend? Addition: And the MX. I've also pointed the MX record to my ip.

• Ubuntu VPS - email and webserver

  I have a VPS based on Ubuntu, it has installed whole LAMP, everything needed for a web server and it works perfectly, but I'm still not able to configure it as a mail server.... I have configured MX record for my domain mail.mydomain.com and this part is OK, I also installed Postfix, Dovecot and Roundcube, configured it using this tutorial: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Mail_Server_setup And after hours of configuring it doesn't work. I have experience with Linux and web hosting, but I successfully configured mail server once in past on Debian 6, and that with help from there. When I try to send email to me my gmail says: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain mydomain.com by dc147738a1117e4c12273.mydomain.com. [MY_SERVER_IP]. The error that the other server returned was: 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied Also I have Webmin control panel which works perfectly, how to configure postfix and dovecot from there?   When I try to e-mail my 10-minute videos to my gmail account, but when I try to attach the videos the phone gives me this error: 'File is too large and cannot be attached'. Can't reproduce because my Android is hooked up to USB, but I'll edit-- S3x-- What's any convenient way to upload/send a video without having to get out the USB? Can I do it without using any 3rd-party apps, or at least using safe 3rd-party apps? Youtube is an option, I believe, but I want to have a hard copy on my PC for editing. Attachments are more convenient.

• Firefox's master password does not protect my web accounts

  I've set up a master password in Firefox 3.6 but it's not working as I expected. I always save my passwords within Firefox for frequently visited sites like Facebook, Yahoo! mail, Gmail, Twitter etc. and this way I don't have to type in my password every time I open that site. When I open Firefox, it asks for the master password but when I click Cancel, it opens normally, and lets me directly in my Facebook page, or Yahoo! Mail page. Why doesn't it protect my accounts? This way, anyone using my computer can see my accounts and it's totally pointless for me to use this master password. How can I protect my accounts with saved passwords in Firefox?

• Citadel mail server software non-DIY alternatives

  I have ha VPS on webbynode with Citadel groupware suite installed, but I'm not so happy with It. I would like to try other alternatives. This is a VPS where I do tons of experiment so it's better for me to avoid any DIY solution if not extremely easy to reinstall. In fact I destroy and rebuild this VPS frequently. I just need a mail server, with spam filtering and web access. No goupware features needed. Please don't suggest me to pass through gmail. :) Could you provide me 2 or 3 alternatives?

• What to do with a Blowfish Key?

  I just completed backing up 8 years of my Gmail using http://gmvault.org I selected the --encrypt option which uses Blowfish encryption. According to their site: Emails can be encrypted with the option -e --encrypt. With that option, the Blowfish encryption is used to crypt your emails and chats and the first time you activate it, a secret key is randomly generated and stored in $HOME/.gmvault/token.sec. Keep great care of the secret key as if you loose or delete it your stored emails won't be readable anymore !!! I'm using OSX Lion. I'm a software engineer but far from an encryption expert. What should I do with this key? It seems like leaving it where it is now (alongside the emails) sort of misses the point of encrypting them to begin with.

• Block access to certain websites from other computers on shared internet connection

  I have very little knowledge about networking. I have an internet connection on my PC (running Windows XP). I've enabled internet connection sharing to other computers on my network connected using a WIFI router. I want to block use of GMail (in general, specific domains) from other computers, but should be able to access them from my own machine. I can't edit my hosts file because my machine too would lose access. I guess I need to configure my wireless router for that. But I have no idea how to do so. My wireless router is a Zyxel P-660HW-T1 v2. I'd appreciate any pointers.

• My Mac is slow but don't know what's slowing it down

  My Mac (Macbook Pro) is sometimes slow doing basic tasks, like browsing the web or something like that. If I open Activity Monitor, I have (maybe) one program that is about 10 % CPU, others are below 1 %. My CPU usage is not full. I still have more than 2 GB of free memory (out of 5 GB). There is no heavy I/O activity like copying files. My open programs are Google Chrome (6 tabs, none of which are in some way (flash, many DOM objects, Javascript) have IMO, except maybe Gmail), Activity Monitor, Finder, Sublime Text 2 (text editor) and iTerm (terminal). What is causing the slowdown? "Slow" being: taking time to write these characters (I press the keyboard keys but there is a delay before I see them on the screen), changing tabs or programs, etc.

• Can't import contacts into Outlook from Excel

  I run MS Office 2010. I have all contacts from a previous Outlook 2010 saved in an Excel sheet. I have tried dozens of time to import, but when Outlooks is supposed to do the mapping of the columns I only have one column in my CSV-file: firstname;middlename;surname, etc. It means I cannot map the data correctly. I have tried saving in MS-DOS and Tab and it does not get better. I have tried saving on another computer and it does help either. ALso tried importing to Gmail with same result. Can anyone help?

  I have postfix set up for use as an STMP server to send mail for my domain, but I receive email for the domain via gmail/google apps. The reason I use my own postfix is because I send out a lot of transactional emails to my customers using a web app, and the volume would exceed what google allows with its SMTP servers. Everything works fine, except cron & system mail gets routed to local users on the server, not to the appropriate accounts at google mail. How can I route this system mail to the respective google mail accounts instead?

Do I need to connect through an SMTP server? Can I do that with sendmail? If I use sendmail's -f option and put my gmail account there it will work. We are not using SMTP server provided by website hosting provider, as we wanted to reduce the network traffic and avoid IP blocking due to bulk mails. We are sending newsletters on weekly basis from our local SMTP server. But due to some reasons, some emails are going to spam and some are not reaching to customers and sometimes there are bounce messages to follow bulk email guidelines (mainly from Gmail). Can you please suggest me, how to achieve my problem. I also wanted to know what type of technology generally Linkedin or banks uses to send notifications emails to all its customers.   I am working on configuring /mutt/ to send mail via /msmtp/. Strangely, if I user /msmtp/ from shell, all okay, that means, that .msmtprc is correct. However, mail sent with mutt do not come. I have this line in .muttrc. set sendmail="msmtp" How can I debug this problem? EDIT: I found, that if I send just text, like msmtp 'my-email' <<< "Hello", it works. But if I send fully builded email-header, it do not. Is it gmail politics or what?

• Work around for yahoo mail slowness (using 100% cpu)

  My yahoo mail is very slow sometimes. When it is, I notice that IE8 is using 100% cpu. Using sysinternals process explorer I discovered the thread using all the cpu in IE8 has Flash in the stackwalk. I upgraded flash from 9 to 10, but the problem persists. I'm about to edit hosts to block the flash content by redirecting the yahoo and ad click dns entries. Is there some easier way to get flash to behave? The fix for the long run will be switching to gmail.

  At my company we have Exchange 2k3 with OWA being public, serving up Activesync and webmail. There is no pop3 or imap support from our admins. Outlook 2k3's RPC over HTTP is also disabled Is there a desktop client that can connect to Activesync or OWA? If my ipod touch can connect to activesync, why can't my pc? I'd preferably like a linux daemon that could simply forward emails to my gmail address, but I guess I'll take what I can get. Thanks EDIT: In case it was not clear, our Exchange server is hidden completely behind a firewall, and a second exchange server has only activesync and https ports opened to the world.

  I'm running Ubuntu Server 9.10 with Postfix and Webmin. I have created virtual hosts for 3 domains following this serverfault.com answer. But the mail isn't relaying out to the world. I have 3 domains tied into my DNS in webmin, as well as inside DNS clicked Mail Server and followed that instruction using this article on the web. The domains and the web servers work just fine. I also have FTP working just fine. So, the remaining problem I have is mail. Can't forward mail out to a Gmail account for some reason. Note I'm just trying to do the "easy version" of Postfix config and if your answer is in Webmin-ease, that would help me. However, I can edit a text file if you suggest.

  Vista Home Basic and Outlook 2007 are all updated and repaired. When attempying to mailto: in CL, etc. by clicking on the users address, I get error 'can't open outlook'. Some of my users use an external SMTP gateway (such that when they send email, it doesn't go through smtp.gmail.com). I have an SPF record configured for the domain, and this allows the external SMTP gateways as valid SMTP hosts. (I realise SPF is different to DKIM) Will enabling DKIM adversely affect the external gateway email? eg. Are the externally sent emails at risk of being marked as spam because they would not have the DKIM signature, or will DKIM only positively benefit emails sent through Google's SMTP server?

I wondered what the Super User crowd has to suggest in order to improve the usage experience. Several suggestions of my own: Always work in cached mode (Tools--Account Settings--Change--Use Cached Exchange Mode) Use Outlook's local archiving capabilities Use Outlook's RSS reader - it's simple and allows offline access to your feeds If you have e-mail subscriptions to magazines, blogs, etc. - create a subdirectory to keep them, and a rule to automatically move them there when they arrive (one rule per subscription, based on the sender e-mail.) You can also share suggestions that require configuration of Exchange Server, for those of us who can make bring them to their IT managers. What are your suggestions?
