  • SSH into Ubuntu Linux on a box without a static IP address

    Basically, how do I do it? I'd like to connect to my home computer from work, but my internet is routed through my apartment building's network, so I don't have the static IP address I'm accustomed to having. How do I go about accessing my home computer through SSH (I'll be using Putty at work if it matters) if my home computer doesn't have a static IP address?

  • Xml files stop being served by IIS6 after allowing .net to process the .xml extension

    I added a route into my site to allow for a sitemap and everything worked fine in IIS7 but once I deployed the route stopped working. Since the live server is running IIS6 I needed to put a new mapping in for .xml to be processed by .net and then it started to work. My issue though is on every other xml file on the site now. I keep getting a 404 error when trying to view xml files, but the sitemap.xml route works. Is this a routing issue or an IIS setup issue?   • ASP.NET MVC routing issue with Google Chrome client

    My Silverlight 4 app is hosted in ASP.NET MVC 2 web application. It works fine when I browse with Internet Explorer 8. However Google Chrome (version 5) cannot find ASP.NET controllers. Specifically, the following ASP.NET controller works both with Chrome and IE. //[OutputCache(NoStore = true, Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "None")] public ContentResult TestMe() { ContentResult result = new ContentResult(); XElement response = new XElement("SvrResponse", new XElement("Data", "my data")); result.Content = response.ToString(); return result; } If I uncomment [OutputCache] attribute then it works with IE but not with Chrome. Also, I use custom model binding with controllers, so if I write the following: public ContentResult TestMe(UserContext userContext) { ... } it also works with IE, but again not with Chrome which gives me error message saying that resource was not found. Of course, I configured IIS 6 for handling all requests via aspnet_isapi.dll and I have registered custom model binder in my web app's Global.asax inside Application_Start() method. Can someone explain me what might be the cause? Thank you.

  • Seeking webcam with own IP address

    I am not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I couldn't find anywhere better. I am looking for a webcam/movie cam and this site seems more addressed to still images, but ... I am looking for a small, rugged web-cam which can be hand-held or perhaps head-mounted (failing that I can settle for a tripod mount, but I need portability). It must have its own IP address so that anyone can view its video stream from a web browser. I would prefer 2 way voice communication too. Encryption of data is nice, as is compression (H.264). Maybe also remote control, like causing it to zoom from the browser. Does anyone have any suggestions, even suggestions of somewhere else to look? Thanks very much in advance.

  • Capture RTSP stream from IP Camera and store

    I've got a few IP Cameras which output an RTSP (h264 mpeg4) stream. Hitting the URL locally via VLC: rtsp://192.168.0.21:554/mpeg4 I can stream the camera and dump to disk (on my desktop). I'd like to however store these files on my NAS (FreeNAS). I was looking at ways to capture the RTSP stream and dump them to disk but I'm unable to find anything. Is it possible to capture the stream on FreeBSD or Linux (RaspberryPi) and dump the streamed content to a disk local to Linux or FreeBSD - preferably every 30minutes? EDIT: The NAS is headless (HP N55L or something) and the RaspberryPi's are headless too. I've already looked into ZoneMinder but need something small. I was hoping maybe using Motion to detect motion on the stream but that will come later.

  • Using PowerShell, in Active Direcotry, how would I change all the DNS A records that have a given IP to a new IP?

    We've been moving data centers and I have a lot of old records that were not correctly but in DNS as CNAME records, but A records that have a direct IP (e.g. 192.168.100.n) and they're all moving to a new subnet (10.19.100.n). I just need to write a powershell script to change all those records. I don't understand how to iterate over all the entries in each of the zones. Also, all the examples I've seen involve adding new zones, but there aren't any examples I can find on modifying existing A records.

  • Will the URL /nosuchpage get routed via my ASP.NET MVC application?

    [I'm trying to figure out the reason why I'm having another problem, and this question is part of the puzzle.] I have an MVC 2 website that has routing set up so that URLs such as /Customer/23/Order/47 get handled by various controllers. I do not have a rule that would match, for example, /nosuchpage and in my Cassini environment a request for that URL will trigger my Application_Error code, which lets me log the error and show a friendly response. However, when I deployed this website on IIS7 using integrated mode, my Application_Error is not triggered, and IIS shows its own 404 message. No matter what I've tried, I can't get Application_Error to fire. Now I'm thinking: is the reason it doesn't fire because the request is not getting routed via my application? Either because I didn't explicitly set up a catch-all route, or because the file-extension fools it into thinking it should use the "static file handler" (whatever that is)? Should I expect my Application_Error to be invoked?

  • Virtualhost setup, same IP address, different DirectoryIndex's

    I am trying to set up 2 virtual host entries in apache but I'm not sure how to accomplish what I want to do. I have two domain names, both pointing to the same IP Address. I need the DirectoryIndex to be different, which is pretty much the only difference in the entries. I have the following set up: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName firstdomain.com ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/srv/www" DirectoryIndex /portals/site/index.html </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName seconddomain.com ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/srv/www" DirectoryIndex /portals/site/index_fr.html </VirtualHost> Not sure what I need to do differently but the second entry doesn't work. The only real difference is I need the second domain to point to a different DirectoryIndex. If there is a better way to accomplish this, your help would be appreciated.

    I'm trying to work through this guide to Rails routing, but I got stuck in section 3.3: Creating a RESTful route will also make available a pile of helpers within your application and then they list some helpers like photos_url, photos_path, etc. My questions: Where can I find the complete list of helpers that is "made available?" Is there a way to call the helpers in the console? I created an app, then opened up the console with script/console. I tried to call one of the helpers on the console like this: >> entries_url But got: NameError: undefined local variable or method `entries_url' for #<Object:0x349a4> from (irb):8

For the server side, I use easyphp (very similar to wamp) When I create the project, I obviously obtain this architecture: MyProject |-- application | |-- Bootstrap.php | |-- configs | | `-- application.ini | |-- controllers | | |-- ErrorController.php | | `-- IndexController.php | |-- models | `-- views | |-- helpers | `-- scripts | |-- error | | `-- error.phtml | `-- index | `-- index.phtml |-- library |-- public | |-- .htaccess | `-- index.php `-- tests |-- application | `-- bootstrap.php |-- library | `-- bootstrap.php `-- phpunit.xml To launch the project, I enter: http://127.0.0.1/MonProjet/public/index.php But when I create a new controller (TestController.php) and the associated view (application.views/test/index.phtml) and when I enter: http://127.0.0.1/MonProjet/public/test the browser returns the error : object not found (404). although I activated the mod_rewrite LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so So, how can I set the routing mechanism to reach the new controllers and their views?     Hello, In a macbook host, I run VirtualBox having a guest ubuntu server, with a NAT network setting. In the virtual machine application "Parallels", I would get on the host an IP address of the guest, to which I could later set hostnames and access it directly. However, I couldn't find a way to accomplish this using VirtualBox. The only solution VirtualBox has for me, is to set port forwarding, and access "localhost" with these ports. How can I have the desired behavior set up, without having to change to a bridged network settings, and expose my guest computer to the network my host computer is connected to ? Thanks.

    Hi all, I've PreviewMouseDown event on TreeView in order to determine if user can select other item based on some logic. If the current item data changed, will appear MessageBox that asks the user if he want to discard the changes. if user press YES , I set e.Handled = false; to enable the new selection. and if user press NO, I set e.Handled = true; to cancel the new selection. The problem is that although I set e.Handled = false , the event stop and no selection event occurs on TreeView. Someone has solution for that? Thanks in advance!

For example, after a visitor downloaded 100MB, any additional requests would be dropped or rejected for the next 24 hours. Is it possible to accomplish this using iptables alone? The connbytes, connlimit, hashlimit, quota, and recent options all look promising, but the man page plays its cards close to the vest (e.g., "quota - Implements network quotas by decrementing a byte counter with each packet. --quota bytes The quota in bytes."). Would like to avoid using a proxy (like Squid) if possible.

  • ASP .net MVC Invoking default controller and action vs Setting a startup page

    Hi, I am developing code on the sample ASP .net MVC template provided by VS2010. The first time I ran the code without adding anything, the index.aspx page was invoked which is expected. But for some reasons I added a login.aspx and then accidentally set that as a startup page. Now when I ran the application the default startup url look like http://localhost/Views/login.aspx. I am thinking this is not a valid MVC routing path and I get the requested resource cannot be found error. I am not sure how to revert this back and make sure the default ../home/index is invoked. Can any one throw some light on this? Also should I not set the startup page as we do in asp .net webforms?

It will go to the default controller. My default controller is Homepage and there are methods named index, guarantee and about When I go to my routes.php, I added this: $route['guarantee'] = "homepage/guarantee"; $route['about_us'] = "homepage/about"; Then try to access it http://localhost/webpage/guarantee and http://localhost/webpage/about_us it show ERROR 404 But when I do it like this $route['default_controller'] = "homepage/guarantee"; The guarantee page will be displayed.     I have two models -- User and Entry -- that are related through a has_many relationship (a User has many Entries). I'm using RESTful routing, and have the following in my routes.rb file: map.resource :user, :controller => "users" do |user| user.resources :entries end This seems to work, but in my partial _form file, when I do this: form_for [@current_user, @entry] do |f| # Form stuff end It generates a URL like this: /user/entries.%23%3Cuser:0xb6a6aea8%3E instead of /user/entries Am I missing something? I should note that the correct classes are applied to the form when doing creation vs. editing, so it does seem to be correctly interpreting what I'm trying to do -- it's just that I can't submit the form to an invalid url.

  • Bad request - Invalid Hostname Error when using ARR IP address

    I'm trying to setup a simple ARR system. I have 1 ARR machine load balancing between 2 APP servers. I can reach the app sites if i use the server name of the ARR machine. (http://arrserver/app) But i can't do it with its IP address. (http://10.7.10.25/app). It gives the "Bad Request - Invalid Hostname". In the ARR machine i configured the default site's bindings to "All Unassigned","80" (default values). Do i need to change the binding rule or need additional url rewrite rules? And also, in the ARR server http://127.0.0.1/app doesn't work. But http://localhost/app works fine. Thx in advance
