  • Does the use of a POS terminal mean I need PCI DSS compliance?

    I've read a lot about PCI DSS and its requirements, but I'm unclear on what exactly determines whether an organization needs to worry about PCI DSS compliance. We accept payments using a basic HiSpeed 6200 POS terminal which is connected to the internet through our office LAN. We aren't using VLAN's. The terminal isn't integrated with any payment processing applications, it just prints out paper receipts. Do I need to worry about PCI DSS compliance?

  • Unable to boot directly to Mac OS X

    I was trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook pro using bootcamp, after creating partition I found out that I missed my DVD at office desk. Later I deleted the partition, but when I restart the macbook it kept telling that "No bootable device found" even after deleting the partition, I'm expecting it to boot directly to Mac OSX. Is there any solution to fix this problem?

  • HP F2180 driver installation fails on 64-bit Windows 7

    Hello; I am trying to install the HP Deskjet AIO (non-network) driver on my machine, which is running the 64-bit version of Windows 7. Before installing it, Windows detected my printer just fine... But I wanted to use the HP scanning application, because tt allows me to scan several photos at once. I ran the DJ_AIO_NonNetwork_ENU_NB file I got from their site, and the installation went almost without a problem... However, at the part where it should have detected the printer, it didn't, so I skipped it - telling the installer I'll connect the printer later. After it was finished I was able to use it regularly, and also scan using the wanted HP application. However, the installer kept popping at random intervals, and giving me an error message. Yesterday I tried removing all the installed HP Applications, and installing from scratch. Running the same installer setup, it now insists that it does not support my operating system, and that 64-bit Vista is the highest it can go... I just don't understand why this is occuring all of the sudden. Has anybody here successfully installed the AIO driver on the 64-bit version of Windows 7? UPDATE: Been chatting with HP chat support over the weekend. Managed to really mess up my windows. At first, they told me to uninstall using an "unintall_l3" batch file inside their installer package, and then reinstall. Didn't work. Also the "l4" batch didn't make any difference. Afterwards I was told to install "Windows install clean up" and remove many hp entries (most of which were not listed on my computer), and I also removed many other hp entries I bumped upon. Then my office 2k7 started failing. I searched around the web, and ran Security Restore, so now my office works, but my windows explorer is all buggy - can't seem to open windows explorer - it hangs while trying to load my hard drives, or completely ignores them and just shows my libraries. Anyone here has any idea how I can restore my win7 to normal, with or without the annoying scanner? UPDATE 2: Ok - explorer back to normal. I guess I just had to wait until it finishes searching while opening the windows explorer for the first time after the Security Restore. Scanner still not working though.

    I am importing a colleagues complete Outlook 2010 calendar (sent by mail as .ics file). However, all coloring is lost: categories, automatically formatted entries, etc. are not visualized in my colleagues colors - just in a non-distinguishable standard office style. Is there a way that my colleague also sends me his color preferences, ie. to maintain his individual coloring in my view? Thanks in advance! Matthias

We want to look at hosting their Exchange mailboxes so that we can improve presence information through the use of Calenders etc. Whats the best way to do this? Simple VPN connection? Or is there a way to for them to keep their own Exchange Server and mailboxes but view and edit our calenders?

  • Can I prevent tv-out from disconnecting when monitor sleeps?

    I have my TV connected to my computer (windows 7) through an HDMI cable that also carries the sound. I like to put on music on my TV, but the problem is when my monitor goes to sleep back in my office, it switches off the hdmi connection completely and the audio goes back to my PC. I would like a way to stop this from happening without turning off sleep mode entirely. I have an ATi Radeon 5700

  • Is there a way to host email with snow leopard server on site?

    We are faced with a dilemma with using snow leopard. We want to have thr snow leopard server on site and not off site because it makes sense to have the server in the network physically for other services (file sharing, VPN, wiki etc) but our office does not have a very reliable Internet connection so it'd hard to host the email with it. We don't want to factor out the email as a separate server because we want to enjoy a single user login across everything. How do we get around this dilemma?

I do currently run a 2003 KMS host that serves Office 2010, Server 2008, and Windows 7. However from looking at this Technet page it would seem that I cannot install Windows 8 or Server 2012 KMS host services on Server 2003. Am I reading that correctly?

  • USB-Powered Speakers

    I use a set of external USB speakers at the office which have no power-source other than my laptop USB port. Sometimes they're silent, and at others it sounds like an electric moth is fluttering around inside one of the speakers (the main speaker). This doesn't happen when my machine is doing any heavy crunching, it just comes and goes. This has happened with other USB speakers on other laptops too in my experience. Any idea on what causes this, and how I can fix it?

At this point, the open office applicattion don't work and the documents don't be generated. How can I restart automatically the openoffice daemon when this problem happens?     Hi I need to control a Windows 7 PC via VNC from a Mac in an office LAN. Since the IPs are dynamically assigned, I'd like the PC to appear in my "Places" and in the automatically detected nearby servers in VNC client I'm using -- both of which require the PC to advertise its VNC server via Bonjour (right?). I tried installing ultravnc, which works when I access it directly by IP, but it doesn't seem to advertise itself in the network. Any ideas?

  • Cisco IPSec, nat, and port forwarding don't play well together

    I have two Cisco ADSL modems configured conventionally to nat the inside traffic to the ISP. That works. I have two port forwards on one of them for SMTP and IMAP from the outside to the inside this provides external access to the mail server. This works. The modem doing the port forwarding also terminates PPTP VPN traffic. There are two DNS servers one inside the office which resolves mail to the local address, one outside the office which resolves mail for the rest of the world to the external interface. That all works. I recently added an IPSec VPN between the two modems and that works for every thing EXCEPT connections over the IPSec VPN to the mail server on port 25 or 143 from workstations on the remote lan. It would seem that the modem with the port forwards is confusing traffic from the mail server destined for a machine on the other side of the IPSec VPN for traffic that should go back to a port forward connection. PPTP VPN traffic to the mail server is fine. Is this a scenario anybody is familiar with and are there any suggestions on how to work around it? Many thanks Alan But wait there is more..... This is the strategic parts of the nat config. I bound a secondary ip address to mail server 192.168.1.244, changed the port forwards to use it while leaving all the local and IPSec traffic to use 192.168.1.241 and the problem was solved. New port forwards. ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.244 25 interface Dialer1 25 ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.244 143 interface Dialer1 143 Obviously this is a messy solution and being able to fix this in the Cisco would be preferable.
