    Is it possible to capture all the sound from a computer and have it pass through a equalizer before reaching the speakers? How can you program a band pass filter on it? EDIT: I'm trying to get this on Windows (with Python? heh) but if there is a generic, cross-platform approach that would be great.

  • What is the best way to automated (integration) test with java with OpenId4Java against real OpenIdP

    I would like to do a bit more than manually test my openid glue code which happens to use the openid4java library. My goals would be to be able to run it within my IDE with a bunch of tests using Junit or similar. Selenium & tomcat I was thinking of using selenium and a tomcat but thats not exactly a nice approach as this is a bit heavy and not really lightweight. httpunit A solution with http-unit is incomplete because it doesnt really fit with the redirect to my openid provider, authenticate and redirect back. Perhaps i am wrong but this looks like it could get quite involved just to make sure this works. Mocks My last solution is to mock everything and assume thats its accurate and works. If google or yahoo ever change in some way, then ill have to verify manually. The approach is simple but with a major flaw.

  • Different values for Time.now when using activerecord

    I have this weird situation: When I do on rails console Time.now or Time.zone.now I get the same values (suppose they run at the sime time: 2014-06-05 23:38:06 -0300) But when I use Time.now in a query like: Match.where("datetime = ?", Time.now) it returns the time 3 hours ahead! .to_sql output: SELECT `matches`.* FROM `matches` WHERE (datetime = '2014-06-06 02:38:06') any thoughts on that?   • How to get the real, actual duration of an MP3 file (VBR or CBR) server-side

    I used to calculate the duration of MP3 files server-side using ffmpeg - which seemed to work fine. Today i discovered that some of the calculations were wrong. Somehow, for some reason, ffmpeg will miscalculate the duration and it seems to happen with variable bit rate mp3 files only. When testing this locally, i noticed that ffmpeg printed two extra lines in green. Command used: ffmpeg -i song_9747c077aef8.mp3 ffmpeg says: [mp3 @ 0x102052600] max_analyze_duration 5000000 reached at 5015510 [mp3 @ 0x102052600] Estimating duration from bitrate, this may be inaccurate After a nice, warm google session, i found some posts on this, but no solution was found. I then tried to increase the maximum duration: ffmpeg -analyzeduration 999999999 -i song_9747c077aef8.mp3 After this, ffmpeg returned only the second line: [mp3 @ 0x102052600] Estimating duration from bitrate, this may be inaccurate But in either case, the calculated duration was just plain wrong. Comparing it to VLC i noticed that here the duration is correct. After more research i stumbled over mp3info - which i installed and used. mp3info -p "%S" song_9747c077aef8.mp3 mp3info then returned the CORRECT duration, but only as an integer, which i cannot use as i need a more accurate number here. The reason for this was explained in a comment below, by user blahdiblah - mp3info is simply pulling ID3 info from the file and not actually performing any calculations. I also tried using mplayer to retrieve the duration, but just as ffmpeg, mplayer is returning the wrong value. Now i ran out of options. If somebody knows how to get around this, any hints, tips, guides or corrections are welcome! Thank You!

  • Why does my FPS drop gradually over time?

    I'm working on this game: yt alpha preview I came into a huge game-breaking problem - after 10-15 min of gameplay the FPS drops from 60 to 30 and is very unstable. I'm using tons of physics and particles, I'm deleting and nulling everything I can after it's supposed to be removed, I remove objects from vectors etc. The memory usage is stable at around 150mb so a leak is unlikely (or invisible?)- after a round ends and I delete everything, play a new round and performance is still terrible. I spent two days trying to figure this out and I just can't fix it. Maybe I'm missing something? I know it's hard to help with no code but I would just have to post my whole source.

    My company have develop a web application using php + mysql. The system can display a product's original price and discount price to the user. If you haven't logined, you get the original price, if you loginned , you get the discount price. It is pretty easy to understand. But my company want more features in the system, it want to display different prices base on different user. For example, user A is a golden parnter, he can get 50% off. User B is a silver parnter, only have 30 % off. But this logic is not prepare in the original system, so I need to add some attribute in the database, at least a user type in this example. Is there any recommendation on how to merge current database to my new version of database. Also, all the data should preserver, and the server should works 24/7. (within stop the database) Is it possible to do so? Also , any recommend for future maintaince advice? Thz u.

  • issue with keychain and updates from app store

    I am having a very frustrating error. I have tested for an app upgrade by first installing the previous version (1.0.1) and then running version (1.0.2). Everything worked fine. I submitted the app and then I am getting issues people are getting crashes when they upgrade. I tried doing the same thing, which is installing the 1.0.1 and then install the binary on the app store, then it crashed.     With normal form submission I use the pattern Post / Redirect / Get, when processing the forms. I have a database application built with Django. I want to allow the users to select a number of items from the database, then launch a computationally intensive task based on those items. I expect the task to take between 10 minutes and 2 hours to complete. Is there a standard approach to dealing with requests like this (i.e. that don't return immediately)? Ideally there would be some way to display the progress.

  • how to get more vacation time than "policy" allows

    At my company, the maximum vacation is 3 weeks for everyone but executives. Therefore I cannot even start negotiating for an increase to 4 weeks.. it's a non-starter because it's "against policy"... even though I think my experience and value to the company warrant it, and I've gotten 4 weeks at previous jobs. (I know I could have made a "hard stand" before taking this job, but that's water under the bridge) Any advice? I was kind of thinking of taking the "you want to be competitive" tack to get them to change their policy but I don't know where to find the kind of data I would need to support that.

    Hi, I am a C/C++ developer. I have never done C++ programming on UNIX, I have done only on windows. I want to practice C++ on Unix. (Because all big companies ask C++ with Unix). I have a laptop on which i do not want to install any other OS (because i have installed very important software on it and i don't have setups) So, I searched and found CygWin which is Unix emulator for Windows. I am thinking to practice C++ on this. Please help me, how can I practice/learn in more close to the environment(Unix Environment) that is used in Big companies like IBM. What will be the difference between Unix and Cygwin?
