• WPF Composite - Expose EF model to all modules

  Hi All, I have an application that uses WPF Composite, and I have an issue. I've got a big database that is attached to the application and I need it exposed to different modules as part of the application. What is the best way to expose my Entity Framework model to all my different modules and views inside them? Do I have one EF model or a separate one for each module and then only the tables that each module needs. The only problem being that some tables have a relationship and will have different views and those views will be in different modules. Any ideas how to resolve this?

  I have a game with a big raster map Now we are using jpeg (4900x4200) And durring the game we need to scroll through this map. We use the following: Class Map extends mx.containers.Canvas and mx.controls.Image on it In constructor we have: public function Map() { super(); image.source = ResourceManager.interactiveManager.map;//big image addChild(image); ...... } for scrolling we are use: if(parentAsCanvas==null){ parentAsCanvas = (parent as Canvas); } parentAsCanvas.verticalScrollPosition = newX; parentAsCanvas.horizontalScrollPosition = newY; In windows, we have very good performance. In Linux and Mac in flashplayer we have a good performance too. But in browsers performance is quite slow! What can we do to resolve it?

  Hi all, I am working on an artificial intelligence project which is a logic game and aims two user connecting to the server on the network who acts as an Admin and then start to play one by one. In order to create connections, i have a server code which is just listening on localhost:8000 and assigning team values to the clients as they arrive. After connecting, clients make their move under Admin's control. The question is that when i try to put my code to work in the browser it fails with the following error: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:8000 connect,resolve) Even though i have created my own policy, first granting only Socket access permission to the codebase of my project folder (file:///home/xxx/projects/-), after it didnt work i granted all permissions from all codebase. I tried placing my policy file both in the home directory and in the same directory where my applet code resides. Appreciate any tips, thanks.

I have given link on my master page for various pages in the application; where I have specified only relative path of those pages. When I run this project and follow any link it works well for only first time and for second time when I click any link it .net run time environment unable to find the absolute address of that page. This may be problem due to relative addressing. How can I resolve this problem? Can anybody help me out?

  Hi all, I am new to WCF i am using constructor in my WCF service.svc.cs file....It throws this error when i use the constructor The service type provided could not be loaded as a service because it does not have a default (parameter-less) constructor. To fix the problem, add a default constructor to the type, or pass an instance of the type to the host. When i remove the constructor its working fine....But its compulsory that i have to use constructor...   We are using ankhsvn to check in our .net code, however I have two issues with our setup that I want to resolve. 1\ I thought a key reason to have a tool like svn is that you can rollback to an earlier version of your codebase. If developers are just checking in code, then how can you get version 1.1 (say the current production build), out of subversion? 2\ In VS you have the concept of solutions, many solutions might use the same project. How do I make sure when a developer checks out a solution, they get the appropriate versions of the projects that belong to that solution?

I have worked with code which is written to use a lot of hidden fields and the data values from the visible fields sent back and forth to them. Though I fail to understand why the hidden fields are used. I can almost always think of ways to resolve the same problem without the use of hidden fields. How do hidden fields help in design? Can anyone tell me what exactly is the advantage that hidden fields provide? Why are hidden fields used?

  I'm trying to create a set of overloaded templates for arrays/pointers where one template will be used when the compiler knows the size of the array and the other template will be used when it doesn't: template <typename T, size_t SZ> void moo(T (&arr)[SZ]) { ... } template <typename T> void moo(T *ptr) { ... } The problem is that when the compiler knows the size of the array, the overloads are ambiguous and the compile fails. Is there some way to resolve the ambiguity (perhaps via SFINAE) or is this just not possible.

  I've been thinking about using Markov techniques to restore missing information to natural language text. Restore mixed case to text in all caps Restore accents / diacritics to languages which should have them but have been converted to plain ASCII Convert rough phonetic transcriptions back into native alphabets That seems to be in order of least difficult to most difficult. Basically the problem is resolving ambiguities based on context. I can use Wiktionary as a dictionary and Wikipedia as a corpus using n-grams and Markov chains to resolve the ambiguities. Am I on the right track? Are there already some services, libraries, or tools for this sort of thing? • umbraco front end site stopped working suddenly

  Hi All, I created one webapplication and placed the default.aspx page in the root folder of the umbraco (i.e., httpdocs folder) and the application dll into the bin folder. I used the name “Default.aspx” as the other names are not working. Now the issue is all the pages are redirecting to the default.aspx page (I haven’t made any config changes anywhere in the umbraco setup) I found this root cause and removed the default.aspx page and its respective dll from the bin folder. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.   Hi, I have developed an application which has retrieved the information from remote location...so i put those in UITableView's Section.In response, i will be getting images also..for this i put the background process(only for images..because the app will take more time to retrieve images than text based information..).It is working fine...But if i scroll the tableview while loading the images..it is going to be crashed.... crash Log: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... could anyone has the solution for this..please let me know..how to resolve this crash...Even i used NSThread class for this.. but i didn't get the solution... Thanks, Srinivas G

• Handling big user IDs returned by FQL in PHP

  I'm using FQL to retrieve a list of users from Facebook. For consistency I get the result as JSON. This causes a problem - since the returned JSON encodes the user IDs as numbers, json_decode() converts these numbers to floating point values, because some are too big to fit in an int; of course, I need these IDs as strings. Since json_decode() does its own thing without accepting any behavior flags, I'm at a loss. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

  I'm getting a weird error in the design view for a user creation page for 2 controls: Error Creating Control - wCreateUser Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. (There's some more) I've done both of these, but I'm still getting the error in design mode. The controls work fine when compiled, and on the live site - this is just in the Visual Web Developer 2010 Design view for the page. Any ideas as to how I can resolve this? Thanks!

  Hi, I'm getting an exception calling Resolve: KernelException: Could not instantiate custom activator Inner Exception: {"Constructor on type 'MyProj.MyAdapter`1[[MyProj.MyBusinessObject, MyAsm, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]]' not found."} There's definitely a public parameterless constructor there (and I've verified this using reflection at runtime)...so I figure the problem might have to do with the fact that it's generic? I've tried getting the component model object and setting RequiresGenericArguments to true, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

• Asp.Net MVC best way to update cached table

  There are certain tables that get called often but updated rarely. One of these tables is Departments. So to save DB trips, I think it is ok to cache this table taking into consideration that the table has very small size. However, once you cached it an issue of keeping the table data fresh occurs. So what is the best way to determine that the table is dirty and therefore requires a reload and how that code should be invoked. I look for solution that will be scalable. So updating the cache right after inserting will not work. So if one machine inserted the record all other on network should get notified to reload the cache. I was thinking for calling corresponding web service from T-SQL but don't really like the idea of consuming recourses on sql server. So what are the best practices to resolve this type of problems.   I am using SQL Server Compact 3.5 edition with Entity Framework and I want to have exclusive lock on the database as documented here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171817.aspx. However when you pass this in a connection string to Entity Framework it does not respect this at all.   I have a flash app built in ActionScript 3 utilizing a document class. I have followed the documentation for implementing Omniture ActionSource tracking by adding the ActionSource component to my fla's library, and then importing it into the document class and running the configuration code. However, the app fails to compile because it cannot resolve the path to the component (com.omniture.ActionSource). My class path contains a com directory (package) where most of the classes I use in my projects reside. Has anyone had success implementing ActionSource in this manner? Thanks

• Installing Refinery CMS on Windows

  Hi all, I cannot get Refinery cms to install on my crappy Vista machine. I have followed all instructions on http://github.com/resolve/refinerycms but the bundler doesn't work because there is not gemfile (I have copied the gemfile from github but it fails at rmagick gem) and have also tried the command line instructions but it fails at rake db:setup. I have tried installing all required gems myself but this makes no difference. Can anyone give me a quick step by step on how to get it running? I have now completely removed ruby so can start afresh. I have the installers from rubyinstaller.org and have tried with both 1.8.7 and 1.9. I have mysql 5.1 installed. Much appreciated!

• Lock Question - When is an Update (U) lock issued?

  We are trying to resolve a deadlock problem. The transaction that is getting rolled back is attempting to issue an Update (U) lock on a resource that another transaction has an Exclusive (X) lock on. According to Books Online (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175519.aspx), an Update lock is supposed to prevent deadlocks, not cause them. So, my question is, why/when is an Update lock applied to a resource? We're a little confused about this because the resource that is attempting to have the Update lock applied to will not be updated by the process that is having the transaction rolled back.
