  • 13.04 - Extenal monitor plugged on laptop HDMI shows image but lags a lot

    It uses an Nvidia GeForce GTS 250M. When I plug in the monitor, it shows some images but with bad FPS and lagging a lot. For example, when I move the mouse pointer, it leaves a trail that vanishes from time to time. I didn't install Nvidia drivers because every time I did this on past versions I ended up with an unbootable system. On past versions I just gave up trying to use the monitor cause it never showed anything regardless of what driver I installed. But since 13.04 ALMOST made it, I'll make another tries. ps.: Works perfectlty on Windows 7/8

  • Distributing my Application inside a Debian Virtual Machine Image-- How to meet GPL obligations?

    I have a Linux application I've developed, and I have created a standalone VMWare Image that people can download to try out the application without needing to install and configure a Linux Server. I created this VMWare Image by starting with a base Debian system, installing a bunch of packages and then configuring all the packages and daemons my application depends on. Upon load, the VMWare Image boots right into an X Server running only my application and no Window manager, so its more of a "Virtual Appliance" than a normal Linux Desktop environment. Users generally will never see a command prompt or any application other than my own. (My application itself I have a handle on the licensing issues of) Now I would like to distribute this image, but I'm not sure how to meet my GPL (and other licenses the various Debian components are released under) Obligations. As I understand it, I have two primary obligations to meet. Providing Copyright and License Information for each component I use. As I understand it, all the information I am required to present is located in the /usr/share directory in the Debian, but since my users generally will never touch a console or terminal, they will never see this. Does providing a text file containing a concatenation of all the files inside /usr/share meet this obligation Making source code available for all components I distribute. Since I am not creating the image from source, but from binary packages, I can't provide the actual source code that results in exactly my image being generated. Does providing an ftp mirror and an offer to send that mirror on DVDs of the Debian source debs for all the packages I use meet this obligation? Anything Else I'm required to do to legally distribute this image?

    I was reading an article on Mashable recently by a long time iPhone user who is living solely on a Lumia 920 at the moment and giving her assessment.  One thing that struck a nerve with me was her describing the Windows Phone ecosystem as immature.  She wasn’t saying this because of the number of apps or the big names like most people do.  She means the quality of the apps in the store. This hit a nerve with me.  I find it hard to believe that the majority of app on iOS are of any higher quality than any other platform.  I believe in any ecosystem you are going to find some high end, high quality apps, but the majority by default will be from people who are trying to solve a problem but do not have the resources to have top graphics and full blown testing.  There will also be a large number that are just there trying to trick you into giving up some cash. Does any of the mean that we shouldn’t take notice of this complaint?  Of course not!  We should always strive to publish the best quality apps possible.  Don’t do things like leaving default app icons and backgrounds.  Put a little effort into your design.  You should also spend as much time as possible ensuring against crashes and giving the user the best experience possible.  Think through your apps organization and navigation.  Go the extra step of putting it into beta and letting select people use it and give you feedback before going to full release.     Hi, I am naive to Qt and GUI programming. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1357960/qt-jpg-image-display/2605463#2605463 The procedure given for displaying an image is working fine and thank you for providing that. But I want to display an image when I click on radiobutton. I created a slot, and I connected the button click event to the slot (dispImage is my slot). My slot consists only the code which is working to display an image (First answer in this link). I am able to compile it and run it. But the o/p is not as we desire. On button click, image windoe flashes for a sec and disappears. One more point to share is, I tried the same with windowsflags example present in qt examples. In this example I want to display the image on the preview window created by us. Even this is also not worked for me. Please provide me the solution. Thanks in advance.

The images will be repeated throughout the website on different pages and I'm told to figure out the best way to cache these images. There could be few to dozen of images on single page. Here's few questions: Will browser caching work to display the same images across different web pages? Should I rather store images in stringified form in a memory instead, using JavaScript arrays? Store them on hard drive using 'localStorage'? What would be easiest yet best option for this? Are there any other alternatives? How to force cache? Any other information would be greatly appreciated...

    I'm developing a universal application. in the first view, I have the login screen for the user. In iPhone storyBoard, I have added 2 text field and one button( login check). I have added properties in ViewController.h file by dragging those objects(Ctrl key + Dragg) to .h file. I have added code for login check and it is working fine for iPhone. This is the code in ViewController.h @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *txtUserId; @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *txtUserPwd; @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *btnLogin; In the iPad storyBoard, I have added 2 text field( userid and password) and i button for login. So now, I want to bind those objects with the veriable which I declared already in ViewController.h file in case of iPhone. My questions: 1. What is the right way to bind properties for both storyboard? 2. Am I on the right direction or should I think in a different way to do it? I am new with iPhone development. Please help.     I'm having an issue on a HTML email in Word rendered Outlooks (2007, 2010, 2013) where I click an image link, and when the mouse is clicked, the image inverts... I have tried putting a text-decoration: none on the link. All the links are styled inline as well. This is the only image that it is having this issue on the email, so tried re-saving the image with no luck. The image is saved as a JPEG and SRGB from a Photoshop PSD. Any ideas? Thanks.

    I am new to webpage design and MVC. I have a aspx page and I have a html image. I want to change this image and make it clickable so that it will refresh only the bottom half of the page when clicked. I setup my image so that the source of the image is updated by the controller. By using the following src="<%=ViewData["BookImg"] %>" So that the whole story is clear. When a person clicks on the image of the book, it displays on the bottom half of the page information about that book pulled from a sql database. I am thinking that I would need to look into getting ajax implemented so that I can do partial page update. But the question is how do I change that HTML image into a button.   • Feasible to send marketing emails as an image?

    Is it feasible to send marketing emails entirely as images - apart from a link at the top, giving the option for the recipient to view the email online (in their browser) and one at the footer to unsubscribe from our mailing list? Anyone who's coded a html email template before knows how much of a pain it is to end up with the final design that displays 'properly' (rarely does it display the same in all clients) and doesn't break. I understand there's the possibility of people simply ignoring the email altogether should their email clients be set not to automatically download images, but many of our email primarily feature images anyway. Thoughts?
