But when it gets to the HttpPost method, the id value's lost. If switched to public Edit(int? ItemID){ /* Codes */ } [HttpPost] public Edit(Item model){ /* Codes */ } this way ItemID can be persisted in the Item model. But is this a good way to handle it? Will ASP.NET MVC always be able to know that it needs to plug "ItemID" into Item? and are there other ways to persist the ID value? Thanks.

  Although I'm coding in Objective C, this is more of a general programming question. What is the best way to convert a constantly changing scalar value to a changing interval or frequency? Right now every time the scalar value changes I am destroying the NSInterval ie [self.myTimer invalidate]; self.myTimer = nil; and creating a new one, but this seems like a VERY expensive way to achieve my goal, since the changing scalar value in my case represents the horizontal velocity of a swipe. For a rough analogy, think of the speed of a swipe being reflected in a visual metronome, the faster you swipe, the higher(shorter interval) the frequency of the metronome.

• RadioGroup getValue does not return correct slected value

  I'm running into a small issue with RadioGroup. My RadioGroup has possible values, true and false. The Radio types I have in my radiogroup use a Model that stores true or false. On an ajax onchange event I want to do some handling, and to do so I need to know the selected radio in my radiogroup and another identical radiogroup. The problem is getValue() only returns the initial value from my Pojo. Whenver I click on a radio button to change the selected Radio getValue() still returns the initial value. When I save my changes, my Pojo gets the correct value. I am finding this bizarre and have spent hours trying to figure our what I'm missing.

The returned type isn't IDisposable in this case. Does it come down to discretion?

  In my class, I want to use a dictionary with the following declaration: Dictionary<string, T[]> Since the operations of my class are exactly the same for all generic types, I do not wish to define my class as generic (which means I would have to create a separate instance of my class for each generic type I insert into the dictionary ?).   Need some help on understanding how to do this; I'm going to be running recursive 'find' on a file system and I want to keep the information in a single DB table - with a self-referencing hierarchial structure: This is my DB Table structure I want to populate. DirObject Table: id int NOT NULL, name varchar(255) NOT NULL, parentid int NOT NULL); Here is the proposed Java Class I want to map (Fields only shown): public DirObject { int id; String name; DirObject parent; ... For the 'root' directory was going to use parentid=0; real ids will start at 1, and ideally I want hibernate to autogenerate the ids. Can somebody provide a suggested mapping file for this please; as a secondary question I thought about doing the Java Class like this instead: public DirObject { int id; String name; List<DirObject> subdirs; Could I use the same data model for either of these two methods ? • Clean way to output values in ASP.NET MVC Views when value is not null

  Is there a better way to write the code below? I have quite a few blocks that are similar, and this is making the code in the Viewpage very messy to work with. The data value with the associated label only needs to be output when certain conditions are met, which is almost always if the value is not null. • Get DataGridView checkbox cell value?

  Hello guys. I'm having a strange issue here. I have a 3 column datagrid that is filled by a connection with the database. So far so good. I have an extra column, of checkbox type. I need to get it's value for perfoming a bulk operation on it. Here is the catch: When all cells are selected, it works fine. But when an user selects any cell that its not the first, software gives me a object reference exception. Here is the code public List<String> GetSelected() { List<String> selected = new List<String>(); foreach(DataGridViewRow row in datagrid.rows) { if ((Boolean)row.Cells[wantedCell].Value == true) { selected.Add(row.Cells[anotherCell]); } } } I tracked down the failure to the if-test, throwing a exception, because the value of the cell is read as null.   Suppose I have the following class heirarchy: class A() class B(a:A) class C(b:B) class BaseClass(b:B, c:C) Now I want to implement a subclass of BaseClass, which is given an instance of A, and constructs instances of B and C, which it passes to its superclass constructor. If I could use arbitrary expressions, I'd do something like this: b = new B(a) c = new C(b) super(b, c) Because the second argument to the parent constructor depends on the value of the first argument, though, I can't see any way to do this, without using a factory function, or a gratuitous hack, such as : class IntermediateSubclass(b:B) extends BaseClass(b, new C(b)) class RealSubclass(a:A) extends IntermediateSubclass(new B(a)) Is there clean way to do this?

• Breakpoint when variable takes on a certain value.

  I have something analogous to the following code... void function(int x) { // complicated operation on x blah blah } It all appears to be working fine except when x happens to be a particular value, say "273". But x being 273 is a rare event, 99.999% of the time it is some other value. Now I wish to observe the events when this function is called with x=273, so I would like to insert a breakpoint that gets hit only with x is that value. Perhaps I could do it like this: void function(int x) { if (x == 273) { // put breakpoint on this line. } // complicated operation on x blah blah } The problem is that presumably the compiler will optimise away this "if" statement because it doesn't do anything. So my question is what should I put within the "if" statement to to make sure it gets compiled in to something... or should I be tracing the x==273 case in some completely different way.

  Hello, This question mixes client-side scripting with server-side parsing. In some cases, I'm writing a cookie to the user's browser using the document.cookie property. In other cases, I'm writing the same cookie to the user's browser through the ASP.NET Response object. When I'm writing the HttpCookie on the server-side, I am using the Values collection (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/system.web.httpcookie.values%28v=VS.80%29.aspx) to store key/value pairs in the cookie. I would also like to be able to write key-value pairs to the cookie through JavaScript. How do I create cookies with Key/Value pairs via JavaScript that ASP.NET can parse? Thank you!

  This question is specifically about PHP, but I'm guessing it might be applicable to other languages as well. I've noticed that between PHP4 and PHP5, the designers of the language shifted away from using -1 as a return value to using constants or other forms of output. This makes sense, as -1 is not particularly evocative, and I'm guessing this practice led to confusion. That said, I am sometimes inclined to return -1 when I want to quickly add another return option to a function, and -1 often seems like a perfectly valid way to express the outcome I am coding for. So here are my questions: Is my observation generally correct, regarding the move away from -1 as a return value in PHP5 vs PHP4? What are the cons of returning -1, beyond for the reason I mentioned above, wherein the -1 return value doesn't contribute positively to code clarity?

ArrayList<Class> typeList; and I have some input values; ArrayList<Object> values; How to cast some value to some type if I know which type from the typeList is the values; typeList.get(i).cast(values.get(i)); <- this is not working??? Actualy I generate dynamic form in runtime. With Java reflection I get parameterTypes from methods from some class, I generate form with input fields and then i want to cast the text from the input fields to specific types from the paramterTypes that I got with Java reflection from some class.

• Cookie Value not available, why?

  I have tested this on my development computer, but now I have uploaded everything to the production server and I cant read out the value of the cookie. I have a javascript that edits a hidden field in my jsf page: <h:inputHidden id="data" value="" /> and when I click on "Submit" I would like to get the new value of this HTML field that was modified by the javascript. I've looked into FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("data"); But that seems only to work if it is passed in as an <f:param/>. Is there a way i can get the value through a bean call?

  I am performing OCR (optical character recognition) on a bunch of images. Images are grouped into different projects (tickets, credit cards, insurance cards etc). Each image represents an actual product (for instance, if we have images of credit cards, picture1.jpg is image of my credit card, picture2.jpg is image of your credit card,... you get it). I have a settings.xml file, which contains regions of the image, where OCR should be performed. So, first I load a template image for a project (an empty credit card). Then I would like to draw a rectangle around a text, where OCR should be performed. I guess this isn't hard, but it would be great if I could also move and resize this rectangle object in the picture. I have to display all regions (rectangles) on the picture also. Also - there will probably be a list of regions in a listview, so when you click a region in this listview, it should mark it on the picture in a green color for example. Do you know for a library, which I could use? Or a link with some tips how to create such objects?

• Find value within a range in lookup table

  I have the simplest problem to implement, but so far I have not been able to get my head around a solution in Python. I have built a table that looks similar to this one: 501 - ASIA 1262 - EUROPE 3389 - LATAM 5409 - US I will test a certain value to see if it falls within these ranges, 389 -> ASIA, 1300 -> LATAM, 5400 -> US. A value greater than 5409 should not return a lookup value. I normally have a one to one match, and would implement a dictionary for the lookup. But in this case I have to consider these ranges, and I am not seeing my way out of the problem. Maybe without providing the whole solution, could you provide some comments that would help me look in the right direction? It is very similar to a vlookup in a spreadsheet. I would describe my Python knowledge as somewhere in between basic to intermediate. Many thanks in advance.
