  installing crashes at halfway of 'copying files' showing an i\o device error error no5; there was problem in beginning of installation too, ubuntu was not detecting the installed windows 8. my system is a dell inspiron 5520 laptop ,with 1 tb WDC hard disk in GPT ,with EFI . my current partition is like 102 mb EFI SYSTEM partition 200 gb Windows 8 ntfs 22 gb root Ext4 8 gb swap 20 db home Ext4 680 gb ntfs Drive for storing all my files. i tried both dvd disc and usb drive, both resulted in same error. inbuild dell hardware diagnosis utility showed both hard disk and dvd drive as healthy what may be the reason and how can i install ubuntu along side my windows 8?

  I am trying to install Oracle JavaEE 6 SDK with Glassfish on Ubuntu 12.04 with Java SDK 7. I have downloaded java_ee_sdk-6u4-jdk7-linux-x64.sh already, but when I run it on terminal, the wizard appears, and after few steps, I get an Error Message Dialog: An internal Error has occurred. Please contact your system administrator... null. And, the terminal is showing something like WARNING: Could not process a navigation event for command=AC_NEXT [Command=AC_NEXT Error=null ] What can I do? How can I install J2EE/Glassfish under linux x64?

• Architecture for subscription based application

  This is about the architecture of my application I think. I have a Rails application where companies can administrate all things related to clients. Companies can buy a subscription and their users can access the application online. Hopefully I will get multiple companies subscribing to my appplication/service. Thing is, what should I do with my code and database? Seperate app code base and database per company One app code base but seperate database per company One app code base and one database The decision I am to make involves security (e.g. user from company X should not see any data from company Y) performance (let's suppose it becomes successful, it should have a good performance) and scalability (again, if successful, it should have a good performance but also easy for me to handle all the companies, code changes, etc) For sake of maintainability, I tend to opt for the one code base. For the database I really don't know at this moment. So what do you think is the best option?

I am trying to run a mapreduce job using the wordcount example. When targeting to the Admin Server, deployment was also working.4. • Unwanted application starts automatically when I login

  When I log in to my Ubuntu system several applications that I added to startup list (by using System-Preferences-StartUp Application) start automatically. Last times I am seeing that among those startup applications there is also another one called "Konqueror" (which is a browser and browse me automatically http://unix.stackexchange.com/users/4458/bakhtiyor) which starts automatically. But I didn't add this application to startup list. I looked for every place that I knew to see why it was loading automatically but I could not find it. Could anybody help me to find out how that application is starting up automatically when a session starts please? Note that I don't have root permission in my system, because it is in my working place. I am using Ubuntu Desktop and GNOME. Thank you.

• Deploying a very simple application

  I have a very simple working console application written in C++ linked with a light static library. It is just for testing purposes. Now that the coding part is done, I would like to know the process of actually deploying the program. I wrote a very basic CMakeLists.txt that create makefiles or VS projects to build the sources. I also have a program that calls the static library in order to make some google tests. To me, the distribution of this application goes like this : to developpers : the src directory with the CMakeLists.txt file (multi-platform distribution) with a README.txt and an INSTALL.txt to users : the executable and a README.txt git repo : everything mentionned above plus the sources for testing and the gtest external lib A this point : considering the complexity of my application, am I doing it right ? Is there any reference that would formalize this deployment process so I can get better and go further ? Say I would like to add dynamic libraries that can be updated, external libraries like boost : how should I package this to deploy it in a professionnal way ?

  I am not too sure what I have done to cause this, but even after undoing all my edits, this error still appears Error 1 Cannot autodetect which importer to use for "Program.cs".   Is there a good way to run a C# application on clientside in lieu of JavaScript? I have done some front end work with JavaScript and backend C# for web developing at an old job, but I am interested in hosting a website myself soon. I have a C# application I would like to be open source, but before people care to download I'd like them to be able to use it. At its basic level it's a simple text editor, but there's much more to it in the nitty gritty. I could write it in JavaScript, but it would require me to keep documentation and up to date changes on JavaScript and C# in that case. I was thinking of creating an AJAX panel and somehow loading my winform application into a frame, but I don't know how or what words to google because I've never done it before except AJAX.

• Problems in creating click package for native application

  Hello everyone I've tried may times to package a native click application mainly following this tutorial: http://notyetthere.org/?p=316 The procedure works and I'm able to execute the binaries both on phones and desktops. The problems start when I install the click package. The application is launched but the game is not working (the "gamefield" is not loaded). The only error message that is given is that versions of localstorages are not compatible (that is impossbile, because it never changed). I suspect that the problem is related to apparmor but I have no proof of that. • Programmer logbook application?

  I've just released my application to the public, and I'm working on an updated version, but I really think I should keep track of ALL the code changes. In case some functionality suddenly starts failing, with a history of all the changes I made it would be a lot easier to figure out where I messed it up, in case the problem wasn't already there. The ideal would be to have a super fast computer with a huge hard drive and an application that automatically saves a backup of the whole project every time I change a line in the code, with some file comparison tool that would show me every difference between any two backed up projects, but that's not really possible for now. So, do you know any application that makes it easy for a programmer to keep track of the changes made to the source code?

But when i try to run the code it is giving me "Lvalue Required" error. So what is the exact reason for occuring Lvalue required error because before this also i have come across situations where this error is there. Secondly why the arithmetic on the pointer is not legal here in this case?

  As a follow on to yesterday's blog entry, here's the equivalent starter application for GeoToolkit (also known as Geotk) on the NetBeans Platform, which ends up looking like this: The above is a border.shp file I found on-line, while here's a USA states shape file rendered in the application: Note that the navigation bar is also included, though that could later be migrated into the menu bar of the NetBeans Platform.  Download the Maven based NetBeans Platform application with GeoToolkit integration here: http://java.net/projects/nb-api-samples/sources/api-samples/show/versions/7.3/tutorials/geospatial/geotoolkit/MyGeospatialSystem It was quite tricky getting this sample together, parts of it, especially the installer, which creates the database, comes from the Puzzle GIS project, while the files come from on-line locations, with the JAI-related dependencies providing problems of their own. So, in the above work around if I change the identity to “Production\Admin” then the IntelliTrace does not throw an exception. This error has been reported to Microsoft and it is expected that it will be fixed in one of the future releases. Enjoy!

  Is it considered an overkill for console application to be design like MVC , MVP or N tier architecture? If not which is more common and if you can link me to simple example of it. I want to implement a tic tac toe game in console application. I have a solution which hold two projects: TicTacToeBusinessLogic (Class library project) and TicTacToeConsoleApplication (Console application project) to represent the view logic. In the TicTacToeConsoleApplication I've Program.cs class which holds the main entry point (public static void Main). Now I face a problem. I want the game to handle its own game flow so I can: Create new GameManager class (from BL) but this causing the view to directly know the BL part. So I'm a little confused how to write it in an acceptable way. Should I use delegates? Please show me a simple example.

• My application's bounce rate jumped from 30% to 80% overnight

  My application is provided as a service that is embedded in other sites. I have google analytics installed on the login popup dialog which is a page of my application, which is opened from the host site (OAuth). About a week ago, I've noticed a sharp decrease in the number of new users registrations and a jump in the bounce rate (from ~30% to ~80%). This happened without any change in the application. I looked into technical parameters like page load time and error rates, but could not see any change in there. Any ideas what can cause this behavior?

• Ubuntu 13.04 ERROR: /etc/apt/sources.list not found

  So, I tried uninstalling the LAMP stack I had following the Ubuntu documentation for it. I also manually removed dbconfig-common. Now, I'm unable to run apt-get update. When I do, I get the error message: E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/htp could not be found. After some digging, I've discovered that I no longer even have an /etc/apt/sources.list file. Also, I've received an error, when trying to run: sudo tasksel install lamp-server That aptitude can not be found. Does anyone have an idea of what I can do? I'm not able to find any documentation online that works - all the documentation out there is dated and no longer (or will not) work with 13.04. I followed this link previously prior to posting my question and it did not work for me: How do I fix a "E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/http could not be found." error?

  I am a software developer having an experience of 3 yrs. I want to play with latest technologies always. But this is not practical. Because say, I developed a web application in .Net 3.5, now its 30% done. After the release of .Net 4.0, my mind is always goes with .Net 4.0. I think like this, lot of features are in new version, so why shouln't I implement those versions in my application. When I worked with IT companies, most of them code with very old versions, some body use VB.NET, C, even Classic ASP. So what might be the points should I consider if I revamp an application?

  Some of our customers inform us that in some cases following error appears: System.Management.ManagementException: Blad dostawcy. at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExtendedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode) at System.Management.ManagementObjectCollection.ManagementObjectEnumerator.MoveNext() The error is generated while trying to loop through a colection returned by Get() method of the System.Mamangment.ManagementObjectSearcher object. The only workaround I know is reconstruction of WMI database. It sometimes helps, but unfortunatelly not always. Can anyone tell me what is the reason of this error and how can I fix it?
