• How to disable a container and its children in Swing

  I cannot figure out a way to disable a container AND its children in Swing. Is Swing really missing this basic feature? If I do setEnabled(false) on a container, its children are still enabled. My GUI structure is pretty complex, and doing a traversion of all elements below the container is not an option. Neither is a GlassPane on top of the container (the container is not the entire window).

  I have an application that performs a little slow over the internet due to bandwidth reasons. I have enabled GZip which has improved download time by a significant amout, but I was also considering whether or not I could switch from XML to JSON in order to squeeze out that last bit of performance. Would using JSON make the message size significantly smaller, or just somewhat smaller? Let's say we're talking about 250kB of XML data (which compresses to 30kB).

  After literally days of tweaking, I think I got vim's autocomplete (omnicomplete + Acp plugin) to work acceptably. But the annoying thing is that it is still enabled for plain text files so I would have to type :DisableAcp for README or plain text files. How do I add logic to my vimrc so that if it detects an empty filetype it disables the Acp on startup? here is what I wrote: if &filetype == "" let g:acp_enableStartup = 0 endif but this disables Acp on start up for all files.

The problem is that when you hold the mouse button down (i.e. dragging from widows explorer), my app does not fire any of the form events. They all work fine if the mouse is not down.   I have just moved my code over to a new server (running on Apache 2.2.3), and PHP's DOM functions are now returning "Fatal error: Class 'DOMDocument' not found". I did some research and it appears that the installation I am now on does not have PHP's DOM functions enabled. I need to enable these functions, so what is the quickest way to go about this?
