  • Slow editor in Eclipse Galileo

    Since I updated Eclipse from Ganymede to Galileo on Mac OS X 10.5, the editor is incredible slow, independently of the programming language: I tried Python and PHP, and for both, the editor scrolling is very slow, like on a very old computer (I'm using am up-to-date Macbook). Any idea where I could tweak it?

    I have Solr 3.5 (Jetty). suddenly it starts giving java.lang.RuntimeException: org.apache.lucene.index.CorruptIndexException: codec header mismatch: actual header=448 vs expected header=1071082519 at org..[SomeText]...   • Shinken - Anyone using it?

    I've recently discovered Shinken, which a new implementation of Nagios using python. Shinken "divides" Nagios in 5 different types of agents, each one performing separated tasks. I haven't tried it yet but for what I've seen the whole architecture idea seems great to me (it works the Unix way: one process, one task), but the project seems a little "green" yet. So, has anyone tried Shinken? What's your opinion?

  • USB-Powered Speakers

    I use a set of external USB speakers at the office which have no power-source other than my laptop USB port. Sometimes they're silent, and at others it sounds like an electric moth is fluttering around inside one of the speakers (the main speaker). This doesn't happen when my machine is doing any heavy crunching, it just comes and goes. This has happened with other USB speakers on other laptops too in my experience. Any idea on what causes this, and how I can fix it?

  • Start multiple instances of Firefox; Xephyr rootless mode

    How can I have multiple independent instances of Mozilla Firefox 3.5 on the same X server, but started from different user accounts (consequently, different profiles)? Limited success was only with Xephyr :1, DISPLAY=:1 /usr/local/bin/firefox, but Xephyr has no Cygwin/X's "rootless" mode so it's not comfortable. The idea is to have one Firefox instance for various "Serious Business" things and the other for regular browsing with dozens of add-ons securely isolated.

My goal is to 1-Buy a new hard drive (checked) 2-Copy the recovery partition to a drive ( dd if=/dev/sdb1 of=~/recovery.bak ) 3-Make a new partition of 12000 mb with Windows 7 4-Copy back recovery partition to the new drive ( dd if=~/recovery.bak of=/dev/sdb1 ) Then press F11 when the laptop boots however it does NOT work.     We have an SQL Server 2005 that is the backend of a web application. The application is partly SharePoint and partly web services accessing the database via Entity Framework. In the performance monitor I am seeing average SQL Logins is ca, 60 per second (max 170), but the average logouts is less than 1. Where can I see the total number of SQL Server logins? Anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

  • Is it possible to remove constant "beep" sound from recording?

    Whenever I record with my microphone, I get this constant beep sound on the background. It appears only when I turn volume up, so it is not very loud, but its noticable and pretty annoying. Because it is constant sound, I thought it should be possible to filter just that one frequency, but I have absolutely no idea how to do it.
