• Flash in firefox does not start unitl they show in page

  I have this little problem. My client wanted two distinct swf on a web page: a viewer on top and a slideshow of images at bottom. Clicking a link on the slideshow make the viewer load a movie, by means of LocalConnection api. The slideshow has a default, so when the page is loaded a default movie start. This works nice on all browser. The only problem I have is on firefox. When screen resolution is too low, or the monitor is too small (netbook) the slideshow remain hidden until scrolling. Therefore at page loading it doesn't start and the main viewer don't get instructed on playing the default video. As soon as I scroll the page, and the slideshow swf display on page, it starts and everything works fine. Do you know if there are any solution to this ? I cannot change the design, I must have two distinct swf, they come from a library he has, and I am trying to reuse components. thanks Leonardo

• Scrolling when idle?

  Can anyone point me to an example of code for a page that begins to automatically scroll when the user is idle for an amount of time? I think this is slightly beyond my skill set. I think JQuery or something similar might be appropriate but I just can't seem to figure it out. I'm designing a site for the nonprofit I work for and we don't have the money to hire a programmer. I wouldn't ask anyone to code anything for me, just to point me in the right direction. Thank you so much. Julie K.

• Ajax Div Maintain Height

  Greetings, I have a list of user comments on a page, with a next button which makes an Ajax call to get the second set of comments. The problem is, the height of the comments div temporarily becomes very small while the loading bar is in place. This makes the user need to scroll back down to see the new comments The issue can be seen at the bottom of this page by clicking "Next" comments. Is there a way to force the div to maintain its height through Javascript? I do not want to hard code the div height in case a page has 3 or less comments.

• How to troubleshoot deallocation of object in uitableview?

  I have a table view with tall cells. About 300 in height. The cells are custom and have an associated nib. In cellForRowAtIndexPath, I access an object in an array using indexPath.row. The object has properties, which I assign to labels on the custom cell. This works fine for the first two cells. Once I scroll enough for the third cell to get created, the app crashes. • IE9 will not navigate to some websites but Google Chrome can

  Was recommended by a friend to ask for help here. I am using Internet Explorer 9. As of two days ago I was suddenly unable to navigate to any part of the following websites: www.computerandvideogames.com www.deviantart.com www.cnet.com However I can still access all of them normally through Google Chrome. I am on a college network but these sites are also accessible through fixed terminals provided by the school and are definitely not blocked. I do not know of any other sites similarly affected. There is no popup, no error message, no diversion to a site telling me I can't access / am blocked etc. I can be on www.google.com and attempt to access these sites through the URL or google search, and my cursor will just show the little moving blue wheel next to the arrow for a couple of seconds, and the page displayed on my browser will not change; ie. not navigating at all. Running antivirus software, changing proxy settings in IE, clearing cookies, unplugging/plugging in computer, restarting PC etc have not changed the situation. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately this doesn't worked correctly. It scrolls down, but not always, and not always to the bottom. Any hints?

• UITableView details as a subview

  Hi all, I have a UITableView in iPhone with enough cell to make it scrollable. I would like to have a subview display whenever I click on a cell, rather than using the navigation controller behaviour. The problem is that I cannot calculate the CGRect exactly to have the subview always centered in page, because the CGRect is calculated from top of table, and if I scroll table and click cell, the subview will be added out of screen. The solution could be easy, but I don't know if it's possible: identify the portion of the current viewable area of the UITableView and obtain in some way the frame and therefore origin and size, then build a subview based on such coordinates. Do you think it's possible without writing not too much code ? thanks Leonardo

• Replicate behavior of Android browser

  Hi all, I am writing for Android, and I can't figure out how to replicate the effect of the Android browser where the progress bar is at the top of the screen, with the webview below it, yet when you scroll down, the bar scrolls with the page. I've tried placing both the webview and the progress bar into a scrollview, but when I do that, the webview becomes completely unresponsive and will not load (or respond to any commands, for that matter). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S., I'm using the Eclipse IDE, and I'd like to to continue using the 1.5 SDK if possible to maintain backwards compatibility (and just to be able use my own application -- my phone isn't getting 2.1 for a couple of months).

  Hello All, I am doing dynamic plotting using core plot library and i have placed that plot on UIScrollView so that i can scroll the plot. Now i want to do Pinch Zooming on that, means when i m doing pinch zooming that that part where i have pinched will be zoomed,other part will also be zoomed but we can see certain par of the graph at one time so wherever i have pinched that part will be shown in zoomed state in focused view and when i am doing scrolling i can see other part also in a zoom state. • Simple end-to-end load and bottleneck monitoring for DB-based web sites

  What tools do you use / would you recommend for monitoring a Linux-based, DB-based website's servers for bottlenecks and load? The obvious goal being to know when growth has gotten to the point where it's necessary to scale up (or out) one or more of the bits and pieces because the current system won't be managing the load if an observed trend continues. I'm looking for general recommendations based on standard Linux load metrics, disk I/O metrics, network I/O metrics, etc., but if specifics are helpful: It'll be Tomcat6 using APR (possibly with a Varnish or similar caching and balancing front-end), MySQL, and either Ubuntu 8.04 LTS or 10.04 LTS depending on timing. I know about top, vmstat, iostat, bwmon and the like that collect and parse info from the /proc file system (et. al.); and obviously MySQL provides a lot of queriable performance information. I could use those directly, probably automating periodic monitoring logs with scripts and such. But I have a suspicion that I'd be reinventing a wheel... For example, Hyperic HQ seems to be along the lines of what I'm looking for. Others? Meta: I tend to think of "recommendation" questions as needing to be CW because there's no one right answer, but I see a lot of these here that aren't CWs, so I haven't marked it as one. I'll happily do so if enough people think I should.

• C#: How to change the region containing MDI children?

  When creating a MDI parent, the entire "inside" of the form is made the MDI region. If you add a menustrip to the MDI parent, the MDI region is scaled down a bit to make room for the menustrip. But if you add a panel to the top of the MDI parent, the entire inside is still the MDI region. Which means that you can move MDI children up behind the panel, and hide their title line. If you move MDI children behind a menustrip, scrollbars appear, and you can scroll higher up to access the title line. But the scrollbars doesn't appear when you are using a panel instead of a menustrip. Because the MDI region doesn't know about the panel, I suppose. How can I scale the MDI region to start below a given Y value?

• c# winforms - scrollable panel with rectangles

  Hi, I'm new to winforms and have tried to track down an answer to the following with no luck ... I have a panel in winforms and add to it a Rectangle that is wider than the panel itself. I've set the panel AutoScroll property to true however the panels horizontal scrollbar never appears. Why is this? And how do I get the scrollbar to scroll? Here is my code to add the rectangle: private void panel1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { Graphics g = e.Graphics; Rectangle rec = new Rectangle(2, 2, 400, 40); g.DrawRectangle(new Pen(Color.Black), rec); g.FillRectangle(new SolidBrush(Color.Blue), rec); } If I add a Label control to the panel and give it a text value that will go beyond the bounds of the panel - then the autoscroll works, but just not for a rectangle.   I have 4 tables that need to scroll, they are set up as follows: Table1(static) Table2(Horizontal Scrolling) Table3(Vertical Scrolling) Table4(Horizontal and Vertical Scrolling) Table1 Table2 Table3 Table4 The tricky part of this is that Table 3 and 4 need to keep in sync as this is a listing of data broken out into two tables. Table 2 and 4 are in the same situation. Any ideas? No Javascript please as we have a script that works, but it is far too slow to work. Thanks.

• WPF Textbox "normal" text input

  G'day, I'm not sure if this is a problem relevant to only me or if anyone else has this issue also. None the less, I'll try and describe what is going on here. I have a few textbox's, default style, etc. I set an explicit maxwidth and maxheight to prevent resize when the text exceeds the default width of the textbox. The issue is that the text wraps to the next line, but I only want single line. So I set maxlines to 1 and textwrapping to NoWrap. That's fine. Now the carat and typed text disappears under the edges of the textbox when the width is exceeded and the only way I can get the carat and newly typed text back into view is by pressing the left and right arrows. Coming from MFC and using textboxes all the time with HTML, I would have thought the default behaviour would be to have the textbox content scroll with the carat or am I missing something here? • How can I have puppet deploy ssh keys for virtual users?

  I am trying to get puppet to assign authorized ssh keys for virtual users but I keep getting the following error: err: Could not retrieve catalog: Could not parse for environment production: Syntax error at 'user'; expected '}' at /etc/puppet/modules/users/manifests/ssh_authorized_keys.pp:9 I believe my configuration are correct (listed below) but is there a syntax error or scoping issue I am missing? I would simply like to assign users to nodes and have those users automagically have their ssh keys installed. • Scrolling png with text & alpha on top of a static UIImageView

  I have a view controller that has a view structure as follows: FilesOwner FirstResponder View ImageView (.jpg) ScrollView ImageView (.png) The text in the innermost imageview has white text and clear (alpha) all around. I want to scroll the innermost imageview, and see the background image (the .jpg) behind it. Its not working. Its acting like the scrollview background obscures the underneath .jpg. I say this because if I change the background color of the scrollview, that's what I see i.e. if I set it black, I see black behind my .png, if I set it white, I see white. If I change the alpha of the scrollview that doesn't seem to work either. The one other thing I tried was unchecking drawing: Opaque, but that doesn't get it either.

  I have an application the requires scrolling of many images. because I can not load all the images, and save it in the memory, I am lazy loading them. • ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel problem

  I'll try and be concise: 1) I have a dropdownlist with Autopostback set to TRUE 2) I have an UpdatePanel that contains a Label. 3) When the downdownlist selection is changed, I want to update the label. Problem: Focus is lost on the dropdownlist, forcing the user to click on the dropdownlist to reset focus back to the control. My "solution": In the DropDownList_SelectionChanged event, set focus back to the drop down list: dropdownlist1.focus() Problem: While this works great in IE, Firefox and Chrome change the scroll position such that the control which was assigned focus is positioned at the bottom on the visible portion of the browser window. This is often a very disorientating side effect. How can this be avoided so it works in FF as it does in IE?

For some reason, nothing happens when i call this method. I'd like to know why. I realise that i can accomplish the same with the MoveToCaret method, but I'm curious why this is not working.

• (VB.NET + WPF) Drag + Drop (to allow user sorting) of stackpanel elements within a Scrollviewer?

  I have good model (I think!) for how to allow a user to drag an element in a stackpanel and reposition it to another location within the stackpanel. However, my Stackpanel is placed within a ScrollViewer, like this (generalized): <ScrollViewer> <StackPanel> ....First item ....Second item ....Third item ....Etc. </StackPanel> <ScrollViewer> Here is the problem, I wish to simulate the functionality of programs like word, where if I am dragging selected content (or an object) outside the viewable area, the window will scroll in the direction of the mouse to see more places to drop my nifty little object. ...i.e. If I move the mouse to the top of my ScrollViewer while dragging a stackpanel's contents, I want the scrollviewer to slowly move up so I can see more locations to drop my content. Any suggestions? If you can help me solve this, you will be a godsend!

  Today I read that there is a software called WinCalibra (scroll a bit down) which can take a text file with properties as input. This program can then optimize the input properties based on the output values of your algorithm. See this paper or the user documentation for more information (see link above; sadly doc is a zipped exe). Do you know other software which can do the same which runs under Linux? (preferable Open Source) EDIT: Since I need this for a java application I will now invest my research in java libraries like jgap. Other ideas and links would be appreciated!
