  • SSAS: distribution of measures over percentage

    Hi there, I am running a SSAS cube that stores facts of HTTP requests. The is a column "Time Taken" that stores the milliseconds a particular HTTP request took. Like... RequestID Time Taken -------------------------- 1 0 2 10 3 20 4 20 5 2000 I want to provide a report through Excel that shows the distribution of those timings by percentage of requests. A statement like "90% of all requests took less than 20millisecond". Analysis: 100% <2000 80% <20 60% <20 40% <10 20% <=0 I am pretty much lost what would be the right approach to design aggregations, calculations etc. to offer this analysis through Excel. Any ideas?   • Data refresh and drill down problem with SSAS cube and excel services

    I have a SSAS cube which I am using in an excel document, prepare a report which has drill-down etc and i am publishing it to a sharepoint site. It gets published alright but when I try to drill down it throws an error "Data Refresh failed" etc.The data source and the sharpoint site are on the same machine(running windows server 2008) and we have windows authentication running. From what I have been able to find on the internet there is a problem with passing the windows authentication credentials to the database etc.But I have not been able to find the exact way to sort out these problem. What is the solution for this????

  • SSAS/SSRS remove parameter from cube report destroys report

    Group, We built a data cube using SSAS and are now building SSRS reports off of that cube. Not sure if anyone has come across this, but when you build the report using the wizard and include parameters all looks fine. However if you are in the report after the wizard is compete, and you decide you want to remove one of the parameters you created it debunks the report and the only way to get it back is to re-create the whole report. Any way you can remove or add parameters after the initial build without destroying your report? Thanks in advance for the help! I love this forumn!

    I am currently a single BI developer over a corporate datawarehouse and cube. I use SQL Server 2008, SSAS, and SSIS as my basic toolkit. I use Visual Studio +BIDS and TFS for my IDE and source control. I am about to take on multiple projects with an offshore vendor and I am worried about managing change. My major concern is manging merges and changes between me and the offshore team. Merging and managing changes to SQL & XML for just one person is bad enough but with multiple developers it seems like a nightmare. Any thoughts on how best to structure development knowing that sometimes there is no way to avoid multiple individuals making changes to the same file?

  • Event 4625 - Logon Failure - Server 2008 R2 is logging them all over the place ! How to stop the attack?

    I've been monitoring failed logons to a server which is directly connected to the internet with no hardware firewall in the way...testing purposes only. Using the Server 2008 R2 firewall, I blocked access to just about everything except RDP, then I told the firewall to only allow connections to the RDP port from "MY" static IP. I tested from other locations and I am not able to login to the server unless i'm at my office. So how are people coming from Chinese IP's able to attempt logons and get logged as failures ?? Is there something i'm missing that needs to be blocked? Any help would be appreciated.

    I've just installed SQL Server 2008 Developer edition and I'm trying to connect using SQLCMD.exe, but I get the following error: H:\>sqlcmd.exe -S ".\SQL2008" Msg 18452, Level 14, State 1, Server DEVBOX\SQL2008, Line 1 Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what it means??

  • Hyper-V VMs hanging 10 minutes after startup

    Hyper-V running under a fresh install of 2008 R2 DC 2 VMs both running 2008 R2 STD One VM has SQL 2008 Server w/ SP2 and Office 2007 Enterprise w/ SP2 Othe VMS only Office 2007 w/ SP2. Approximately 10 minutes after reboot the Hyuper-V host the VMs will hang Hang = answers pings, but no RDP connections and Hyper-V console session is non responsive Disabled Hyper-V and had no proble with 2008 R2 DC host. Started the three Hyper-V services and 10 minutes later was hung again. Hardware is HP DL380 G4 2 socket, 48 GB, Internal SAS controller 1.5TB C drive VMs .VHDs are on external SAS controller on a 1.5 TB RAID5 volume. Nothing in event log on either VMs or Hyper-V host.     I find myself going to about five or six main places in my code 80% of the time and would like a way to go to them fast even if all files are closed. I would like to be able to open up a solution in visual studio and with no file open, see a list of self-labeled bookmarks like this: LoadNext Settings page refresh app.config connections app settings stringhelpers top stringhelpers bottom I click one of these and it opens that file and jumps to that position. How can I best make bookmarks like this in Visual Studio 2008/2010?

I get the error "MSBUildToolsPath is not specified for the ToolsVersion "4.0" defined at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSBuild\TOolsVersions\4.0", or the value specified evaluates to the empty string". How do I change the ToolsVersion to "3.5", so it works?

    In Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 there are new Events categorized under "Applications and Services Logs". There is also a subfolder called Microsoft which has tons of subfolders as well. Is there any way to collect these events through WMI? For the regular "Windows Logs" such as Application and Security, it is possible to use the Win32_NTLogEvent WMI class in the cimv2 namespace. However, this class does not provide access to the new Microsoft event logs. Any ideas?
