  • ASP.NET MVC 3 Hosting :: How to Deploy Web Apps Using ASP.NET MVC 3, Razor and EF Code First - Part II

    - by mbridge
    In previous post, I have discussed on how to work with ASP.NET MVC 3 and EF Code First for developing web apps. In this post, I will demonstrate on working with domain entity with deep object graph, Service Layer and View Models and will also complete the rest of the demo application. In the previous post, we have done CRUD operations against Category entity and this post will be focus on Expense entity those have an association with Category entity. Domain Model Category Entity public class Category   {       public int CategoryId { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Name Required")]       [StringLength(25, ErrorMessage = "Must be less than 25 characters")]       public string Name { get; set;}       public string Description { get; set; }       public virtual ICollection<Expense> Expenses { get; set; }   } Expense Entity public class Expense     {                public int ExpenseId { get; set; }                public string  Transaction { get; set; }         public DateTime Date { get; set; }         public double Amount { get; set; }         public int CategoryId { get; set; }         public virtual Category Category { get; set; }     } We have two domain entities - Category and Expense. A single category contains a list of expense transactions and every expense transaction should have a Category. Repository class for Expense Transaction Let’s create repository class for handling CRUD operations for Expense entity public class ExpenseRepository : RepositoryBase<Expense>, IExpenseRepository     {     public ExpenseRepository(IDatabaseFactory databaseFactory)         : base(databaseFactory)         {         }                } public interface IExpenseRepository : IRepository<Expense> { } Service Layer If you are new to Service Layer, checkout Martin Fowler's article Service Layer . According to Martin Fowler, Service Layer defines an application's boundary and its set of available operations from the perspective of interfacing client layers. It encapsulates the application's business logic, controlling transactions and coordinating responses in the implementation of its operations. Controller classes should be lightweight and do not put much of business logic onto it. We can use the service layer as the business logic layer and can encapsulate the rules of the application. Let’s create a Service class for coordinates the transaction for Expense public interface IExpenseService {     IEnumerable<Expense> GetExpenses(DateTime startDate, DateTime ednDate);     Expense GetExpense(int id);             void CreateExpense(Expense expense);     void DeleteExpense(int id);     void SaveExpense(); } public class ExpenseService : IExpenseService {     private readonly IExpenseRepository expenseRepository;            private readonly IUnitOfWork unitOfWork;     public ExpenseService(IExpenseRepository expenseRepository, IUnitOfWork unitOfWork)     {                  this.expenseRepository = expenseRepository;         this.unitOfWork = unitOfWork;     }     public IEnumerable<Expense> GetExpenses(DateTime startDate, DateTime endDate)     {         var expenses = expenseRepository.GetMany(exp => exp.Date >= startDate && exp.Date <= endDate);         return expenses;     }     public void CreateExpense(Expense expense)     {         expenseRepository.Add(expense);         unitOfWork.Commit();     }     public Expense GetExpense(int id)     {         var expense = expenseRepository.GetById(id);         return expense;     }     public void DeleteExpense(int id)     {         var expense = expenseRepository.GetById(id);         expenseRepository.Delete(expense);         unitOfWork.Commit();     }     public void SaveExpense()     {         unitOfWork.Commit();     } } View Model for Expense Transactions In real world ASP.NET MVC applications, we need to design model objects especially for our views. Our domain objects are mainly designed for the needs for domain model and it is representing the domain of our applications. On the other hand, View Model objects are designed for our needs for views. We have an Expense domain entity that has an association with Category. While we are creating a new Expense, we have to specify that in which Category belongs with the new Expense transaction. The user interface for Expense transaction will have form fields for representing the Expense entity and a CategoryId for representing the Category. So let's create view model for representing the need for Expense transactions. public class ExpenseViewModel {     public int ExpenseId { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Category Required")]     public int CategoryId { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Transaction Required")]     public string Transaction { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Date Required")]     public DateTime Date { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Amount Required")]     public double Amount { get; set; }       public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> Category { get; set; } } The ExpenseViewModel is designed for the purpose of View template and contains the all validation rules. It has properties for mapping values to Expense entity and a property Category for binding values to a drop-down for list values of Category. Create Expense transaction Let’s create action methods in the ExpenseController for creating expense transactions public ActionResult Create() {     var expenseModel = new ExpenseViewModel();     var categories = categoryService.GetCategories();     expenseModel.Category = categories.ToSelectListItems(-1);     expenseModel.Date = DateTime.Today;     return View(expenseModel); } [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(ExpenseViewModel expenseViewModel) {                      if (!ModelState.IsValid)         {             var categories = categoryService.GetCategories();             expenseViewModel.Category = categories.ToSelectListItems(expenseViewModel.CategoryId);             return View("Save", expenseViewModel);         }         Expense expense=new Expense();         ModelCopier.CopyModel(expenseViewModel,expense);         expenseService.CreateExpense(expense);         return RedirectToAction("Index");              } In the Create action method for HttpGet request, we have created an instance of our View Model ExpenseViewModel with Category information for the drop-down list and passing the Model object to View template. The extension method ToSelectListItems is shown below public static IEnumerable<SelectListItem> ToSelectListItems(         this IEnumerable<Category> categories, int  selectedId) {     return           categories.OrderBy(category => category.Name)                 .Select(category =>                     new SelectListItem                     {                         Selected = (category.CategoryId == selectedId),                         Text = category.Name,                         Value = category.CategoryId.ToString()                     }); } In the Create action method for HttpPost, our view model object ExpenseViewModel will map with posted form input values. We need to create an instance of Expense for the persistence purpose. So we need to copy values from ExpenseViewModel object to Expense object. ASP.NET MVC futures assembly provides a static class ModelCopier that can use for copying values between Model objects. ModelCopier class has two static methods - CopyCollection and CopyModel.CopyCollection method will copy values between two collection objects and CopyModel will copy values between two model objects. We have used CopyModel method of ModelCopier class for copying values from expenseViewModel object to expense object. Finally we did a call to CreateExpense method of ExpenseService class for persisting new expense transaction. List Expense Transactions We want to list expense transactions based on a date range. So let’s create action method for filtering expense transactions with a specified date range. public ActionResult Index(DateTime? startDate, DateTime? endDate) {     //If date is not passed, take current month's first and last dte     DateTime dtNow;     dtNow = DateTime.Today;     if (!startDate.HasValue)     {         startDate = new DateTime(dtNow.Year, dtNow.Month, 1);         endDate = startDate.Value.AddMonths(1).AddDays(-1);     }     //take last date of start date's month, if end date is not passed     if (startDate.HasValue && !endDate.HasValue)     {         endDate = (new DateTime(startDate.Value.Year, startDate.Value.Month, 1)).AddMonths(1).AddDays(-1);     }     var expenses = expenseService.GetExpenses(startDate.Value ,endDate.Value);     //if request is Ajax will return partial view     if (Request.IsAjaxRequest())     {         return PartialView("ExpenseList", expenses);     }     //set start date and end date to ViewBag dictionary     ViewBag.StartDate = startDate.Value.ToShortDateString();     ViewBag.EndDate = endDate.Value.ToShortDateString();     //if request is not ajax     return View(expenses); } We are using the above Index Action method for both Ajax requests and normal requests. If there is a request for Ajax, we will call the PartialView ExpenseList. Razor Views for listing Expense information Let’s create view templates in Razor for showing list of Expense information ExpenseList.cshtml @model IEnumerable<MyFinance.Domain.Expense>   <table>         <tr>             <th>Actions</th>             <th>Category</th>             <th>                 Transaction             </th>             <th>                 Date             </th>             <th>                 Amount             </th>         </tr>       @foreach (var item in Model) {              <tr>             <td>                 @Html.ActionLink("Edit", "Edit",new { id = item.ExpenseId })                 @Ajax.ActionLink("Delete", "Delete", new { id = item.ExpenseId }, new AjaxOptions { Confirm = "Delete Expense?", HttpMethod = "Post", UpdateTargetId = "divExpenseList" })             </td>              <td>                 @item.Category.Name             </td>             <td>                 @item.Transaction             </td>             <td>                 @String.Format("{0:d}", item.Date)             </td>             <td>                 @String.Format("{0:F}", item.Amount)             </td>         </tr>          }       </table>     <p>         @Html.ActionLink("Create New Expense", "Create") |         @Html.ActionLink("Create New Category", "Create","Category")     </p> Index.cshtml @using MyFinance.Helpers; @model IEnumerable<MyFinance.Domain.Expense> @{     ViewBag.Title = "Index"; }    <h2>Expense List</h2>    <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.unobtrusive-ajax.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery-ui.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.ui.datepicker.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <link href="@Url.Content("~/Content/jquery-ui-1.8.6.custom.css")" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />      @using (Ajax.BeginForm(new AjaxOptions{ UpdateTargetId="divExpenseList", HttpMethod="Get"})) {     <table>         <tr>         <td>         <div>           Start Date: @Html.TextBox("StartDate", Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:mm/dd/yyyy}", ViewData["StartDate"].ToString())), new { @class = "ui-datepicker" })         </div>         </td>         <td><div>            End Date: @Html.TextBox("EndDate", Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:mm/dd/yyyy}", ViewData["EndDate"].ToString())), new { @class = "ui-datepicker" })          </div></td>          <td> <input type="submit" value="Search By TransactionDate" /></td>         </tr>     </table>         }   <div id="divExpenseList">             @Html.Partial("ExpenseList", Model)     </div> <script type="text/javascript">     $().ready(function () {         $('.ui-datepicker').datepicker({             dateFormat: 'mm/dd/yy',             buttonImage: '@Url.Content("~/Content/calendar.gif")',             buttonImageOnly: true,             showOn: "button"         });     }); </script> Ajax search functionality using Ajax.BeginForm The search functionality of Index view is providing Ajax functionality using Ajax.BeginForm. The Ajax.BeginForm() method writes an opening <form> tag to the response. You can use this method in a using block. In that case, the method renders the closing </form> tag at the end of the using block and the form is submitted asynchronously by using JavaScript. The search functionality will call the Index Action method and this will return partial view ExpenseList for updating the search result. We want to update the response UI for the Ajax request onto divExpenseList element. So we have specified the UpdateTargetId as "divExpenseList" in the Ajax.BeginForm method. Add jQuery DatePicker Our search functionality is using a date range so we are providing two date pickers using jQuery datepicker. You need to add reference to the following JavaScript files to working with jQuery datepicker. - jquery-ui.js - jquery.ui.datepicker.js For theme support for datepicker, we can use a customized CSS class. In our example we have used a CSS file “jquery-ui-1.8.6.custom.css”. For more details about the datepicker component, visit jquery UI website at http://jqueryui.com/demos/datepicker . In the jQuery ready event, we have used following JavaScript function to initialize the UI element to show date picker. <script type="text/javascript">     $().ready(function () {         $('.ui-datepicker').datepicker({             dateFormat: 'mm/dd/yy',             buttonImage: '@Url.Content("~/Content/calendar.gif")',             buttonImageOnly: true,             showOn: "button"         });     }); </script> Summary In this two-part series, we have created a simple web application using ASP.NET MVC 3 RTM, Razor and EF Code First CTP 5. I have demonstrated patterns and practices  such as Dependency Injection, Repository pattern, Unit of Work, ViewModel and Service Layer. My primary objective was to demonstrate different practices and options for developing web apps using ASP.NET MVC 3 and EF Code First. You can implement these approaches in your own way for building web apps using ASP.NET MVC 3. I will refactor this demo app on later time.

  • Formatting not retained in paste from Ditto (clipboard manager). Plain text pasted instead [Solved] Add supported types

    - by Jeff Kang
    I'm trying to use Ditto on the Ditto documentation. If I were to copy the table of contents, then paste it (without Ditto) to the word processor, I get http://i.imgur.com/V1GU3.png, and the formatting is maintained. As as a result of the copy operation, the table of contents also goes into the Saved Items List (= History List = Lists the Clips saved from the Clipboard) in Ditto’s Main Window: I open a blank document to paste from Ditto instead of the default clipboard, and press either Ctrl-`, the default Ditto window activation Global Hot Key, or click the tray icon. From this point, I can do 3 things to close the Ditto window, and place the item on the clipboard (the default clipboard?). Select the item, and press Enter Put the cursor on the item, and double-click Select the item, and press Ctrl-c 1) and 2) send a right-click where the cursor is, after the Ditto window closes (presumably to have the paste option ready to access?): Ctrl-c just closes the Ditto window. Whichever method is used, the contents are pasted in what I believe is plain text: http://i.imgur.com/mQAZH.png How do I keep the formatting that the default clipboard keeps? Thanks.

  • ASP.NET MVC - dropdown list post handling problem

    - by ile
    I've had troubles for a few days already with handling form that contains dropdown list. I tried all that I've learned so far but nothing helps. This is my code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using CMS; using CMS.Model; using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; namespace Portal.Models { public class ArticleDisplay { public ArticleDisplay() { } public int CategoryID { set; • MVC 2 Editor Template for Radio Buttons

    - by Steve Michelotti
    A while back I blogged about how to create an HTML Helper to produce a radio button list.  In that post, my HTML helper was “wrapping” the FluentHtml library from MvcContrib to produce the following html output (given an IEnumerable list containing the items “Foo” and “Bar”): 1: <div> 2: <input id="Name_Foo" name="Name" type="radio" value="Foo" /><label for="Name_Foo" id="Name_Foo_Label">Foo</label> 3: <input id="Name_Bar" name="Name" type="radio" value="Bar" /><label for="Name_Bar" id="Name_Bar_Label">Bar</label> 4: </div> With the release of MVC 2, we now have editor templates we can use that rely on metadata to allow us to customize our views appropriately.  For example, for the radio buttons above, we want the “id” attribute to be differentiated and unique and we want the “name” attribute to be the same across radio buttons so the buttons will be grouped together and so model binding will work appropriately. We also want the “for” attribute in the <label> element being set to correctly point to the id of the corresponding radio button.  The default behavior of the RadioButtonFor() method that comes OOTB with MVC produces the same value for the “id” and “name” attributes so this isn’t exactly what I want out the the box if I’m trying to produce the HTML mark up above. If we use an EditorTemplate, the first gotcha that we run into is that, by default, the templates just work on your view model’s property. But in this case, we *also* was the list of items to populate all the radio buttons. It turns out that the EditorFor() methods do give you a way to pass in additional data. There is an overload of the EditorFor() method where the last parameter allows you to pass an anonymous object for “extra” data that you can use in your view – it gets put on the view data dictionary: 1: <%: Html.EditorFor(m => m.Name, "RadioButtonList", new { selectList = new SelectList(new[] { "Foo", "Bar" }) })%> Now we can create a file called RadioButtonList.ascx that looks like this: 1: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl" %> 2: <% 3: var list = this.ViewData["selectList"] as SelectList; 4: %> 5: <div> 6: <% foreach (var item in list) { 7: var radioId = ViewData.TemplateInfo.GetFullHtmlFieldId(item.Value); 8: var checkedAttr = item.Selected ? "checked=\"checked\"" : string.Empty; 9: %> 10: <input type="radio" id="<%: radioId %>" name="<%: ViewData.TemplateInfo.HtmlFieldPrefix %>" value="<%: item.Value %>" <%: checkedAttr %>/> 11: <label for="<%: radioId %>"><%: item.Text %></label> 12: <% } %> 13: </div> There are several things to note about the code above. First, you can see in line #3, it’s getting the SelectList out of the view data dictionary. Then on line #7 it uses the GetFullHtmlFieldId() method from the TemplateInfo class to ensure we get unique IDs. We pass the Value to this method so that it will produce IDs like “Name_Foo” and “Name_Bar” rather than just “Name” which is our property name. However, for the “name” attribute (on line #10) we can just use the normal HtmlFieldPrefix property so that we ensure all radio buttons have the same name which corresponds to the view model’s property name. We also get to leverage the fact the a SelectListItem has a Boolean Selected property so we can set the checkedAttr variable on line #8 and use it on line #10. Finally, it’s trivial to set the correct “for” attribute for the <label> on line #11 since we already produced that value. Because the TemplateInfo class provides all the metadata for our view, we’re able to produce this view that is widely re-usable across our application. In fact, we can create a couple HTML helpers to better encapsulate this call and make it more user friendly: 1: public static MvcHtmlString RadioButtonList<TModel, TProperty>(this HtmlHelper<TModel> htmlHelper, Expression<Func<TModel, TProperty>> expression, params string[] items) 2: { 3: return htmlHelper.RadioButtonList(expression, new SelectList(items)); 4: } 5:   6: public static MvcHtmlString RadioButtonList<TModel, TProperty>(this HtmlHelper<TModel> htmlHelper, Expression<Func<TModel, TProperty>> expression, IEnumerable<SelectListItem> items) 7: { 8: var func = expression.Compile(); 9: var result = func(htmlHelper.ViewData.Model); 10: var list = new SelectList(items, "Value", "Text", result); 11: return htmlHelper.EditorFor(expression, "RadioButtonList", new { selectList = list }); 12: } This allows us to simply the call like this: 1: <%: Html.RadioButtonList(m => m.Name, "Foo", "Bar" ) %> In that example, the values for the radio button are hard-coded and being passed in directly. But if you had a view model that contained a property for the collection of items you could call the second overload like this: 1: <%: Html.RadioButtonList(m => m.Name, Model.FooBarList ) %> The Editor templates introduced in MVC 2 definitely allow for much more flexible views/editors than previously available. By knowing about the features you have available to you with the TemplateInfo class, you can take these concepts and customize your editors with extreme flexibility and re-usability.

  • ASP.NET MVC: Converting business objects to select list items

    - by DigiMortal
    Some of our business classes are used to fill dropdown boxes or select lists. And often you have some base class for all your business classes. In this posting I will show you how to use base business class to write extension method that converts collection of business objects to ASP.NET MVC select list items without writing a lot of code. BusinessBase, BaseEntity and other base classes I prefer to have some base class for all my business classes so I can easily use them regardless of their type in contexts I need. NB! Some guys say that it is good idea to have base class for all your business classes and they also suggest you to have mappings done same way in database. Other guys say that it is good to have base class but you don’t have to have one master table in database that contains identities of all your business objects. It is up to you how and what you prefer to do but whatever you do – think and analyze first, please. :) To keep things maximally simple I will use very primitive base class in this example. This class has only Id property and that’s it. public class BaseEntity {     public virtual long Id { get; set; } } Now we have Id in base class and we have one more question to solve – how to better visualize our business objects? To users ID is not enough, they want something more informative. We can define some abstract property that all classes must implement. But there is also another option we can use – overriding ToString() method in our business classes. public class Product : BaseEntity {     public virtual string SKU { get; set; }     public virtual string Name { get; set; }       public override string ToString()     {         if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(Name))             return base.ToString();           return Name;     } } Although you can add more functionality and properties to your base class we are at point where we have what we needed: identity and human readable presentation of business objects. Writing list items converter Now we can write method that creates list items for us. public static class BaseEntityExtensions {            public static IEnumerable<SelectListItem> ToSelectListItems<T>         (this IList<T> baseEntities) where T : BaseEntity     {         return ToSelectListItems((IEnumerator<BaseEntity>)                    baseEntities.GetEnumerator());     }       public static IEnumerable<SelectListItem> ToSelectListItems         (this IEnumerator<BaseEntity> baseEntities)     {         var items = new HashSet<SelectListItem>();           while (baseEntities.MoveNext())         {             var item = new SelectListItem();             var entity = baseEntities.Current;               item.Value = entity.Id.ToString();             item.Text = entity.ToString();               items.Add(item);         }           return items;     } } You can see here to overloads of same method. One works with List<T> and the other with IEnumerator<BaseEntity>. Although mostly my repositories return IList<T> when querying data there are always situations where I can use more abstract types and interfaces. Using extension methods in code In your code you can use ToSelectListItems() extension methods like shown on following code fragment. ... var model = new MyFormModel(); model.Statuses = _myRepository.ListStatuses().ToSelectListItems(); ... You can call this method on all your business classes that extend your base entity. Wanna have some fun with this code? Write overload for extension method that accepts selected item ID.

  • Passing the CAML thru the EY of the NEEDL

    - by PointsToShare
    © 2011 By: Dov Trietsch. All rights reserved Passing the CAML thru the EY of the NEEDL Definitions: CAML (Collaborative Application Markup Language) is an XML based markup language used in Microsoft SharePoint technologies  Anonymous: A camel is a horse designed by committee  Dov Trietsch: A CAML is a HORS designed by Microsoft  I was advised against putting any Camel and Sphinx rhymes in here. Look it up in Google!  _____ Now that we have dispensed with the dromedary jokes (BTW, I have many more, but they are not fit to print!), here is an interesting problem and its solution.  We have built a list where the title must be kept unique so I needed to verify the existence (or absence) of a list item with a particular title. Two methods came to mind:  1: Span the list until the title is found (result = found) or until the list ends (result = not found). This is an algorithm of complexity O(N) and for long lists it is a performance sucker. 2: Use a CAML query instead. Here, for short list we’ll encounter some overhead, but because the query results in an SQL query on the content database, it is of complexity O(LogN), which is significantly better and scales perfectly. Obviously I decided to go with the latter and this is where the CAML s--t hit the fan.   A CAML query returns a SPListItemCollection and I simply checked its Count. If it was 0, the item did not already exist and it was safe to add a new item with the given title. Otherwise I cancelled the operation and warned the user. The trouble was that I always got a positive. Most of the time a false positive. The count was greater than 0 regardles of the title I checked (except when the list was empty, which happens only once). This was very disturbing indeed. To solve my immediate problem which was speedy delivery, I reverted to the “Span the list” approach, but the problem bugged me, so I wrote a little console app by which I tested and tweaked and tested, time and again, until I found the solution. Yes, one can pass the proverbial CAML thru the ey of the needle (e’s missing on purpose).  So here are my conclusions:  CAML that does not work:  Note: QT is my quote:  char QT = Convert.ToChar((int)34); string titleQuery = "<Query>><Where><Eq>"; titleQuery += "<FieldRef Name=" + QT + "Title" + QT + "/>"; titleQuery += "<Value Type=" + QT + "Text" + QT + ">" + uniqueID + "</Value></Eq></Where></Query>"; titleQuery += "<ViewFields><FieldRef Name=" + QT + "Title" + QT + "/></ViewFields>";  Why? Even though U2U generates it, the <Query> and </Query> tags do not belong in the query that you pass. Start your query with the <Where> clause.  Also the <ViewFiels> clause does not belong. I used this clause to limit the returned collection to a single column, and I still wish to do it. I’ll show how this is done a bit later.   When you use the <Query> </Query> tags in you query, it’s as if you did not specify the query at all. What you get is the all inclusive default query for the list. It returns evey column and every item. It is expensive for both server and network because it does all the extra processing and eats plenty of bandwidth.   Now, here is the CAML that works  string titleQuery = "<Where><Eq>"; titleQuery += "<FieldRef Name=" + QT + "Title" + QT + "/>"; titleQuery += "<Value Type=" + QT + "Text" + QT + ">" + uniqueID + "</Value></Eq></Where>";  You’ll also notice that inside the unusable <ViewFields> clause above, we have a <FieldRef> clause. This is what we pass to the SPQuery object. Here is how:  SPQuery query = new SPQuery(); query.Query = titleQuery; query.ViewFields = "<FieldRef Name=" + QT + "Title" + QT + "/>"; query.RowLimit = 1; SPListItemCollection col = masterList.GetItems(query);  Two thing to note: we enter the view fields into the SPQuery object and we also limited the number of rows that the query returns. The latter is not always done, but in an existence test, there is no point in returning hundreds of rows. The query will now return one item or none, which is all we need in order to verify the existence (or non-existence) of items. Limiting the number of columns and the number of rows is a great performance enhancer. That’s all folks!!

  • 7 Reasons for Abandonment in eCommerce and the need for Contextual Support by JP Saunders

    - by Tuula Fai
    Shopper confidence, or more accurately the lack thereof, is the bane of the online retailer. There are a number of questions that influence whether a shopper completes a transaction, and all of those attributes revolve around knowledge. What products are available? What products are on offer? What would be the cost of the transaction? What are my options for delivery? In general, most online businesses do a good job of answering basic questions around the products as the shopper engages in the online journey, navigating the product catalog and working through the checkout process. The needs that are harder to address for the shopper are those that are less concerned with product specifics and more concerned with deciding whether the transaction met their needs and delivered value. A recent study by the Baymard Institute [1] finds that more than 60% of ecommerce site visitors will abandon their shopping cart. The study also identifies seven reasons for abandonment out of the commerce process [2]. Most of those reasons come down to poor usability within the commerce experience. Distractions. External distractions within the shopper’s external environment (TV, Children, Pets, etc.) or distractions on the eCommerce page can drive shopper abandonment. Ideally, the selection and check-out process should be straightforward. One common distraction is to drive the shopper away from the task at hand through pop-ups or re-directs. The shopper engaging with support information in the checkout process should not be directed away from the page to consume support. Though confidence may improve, the distraction also means abandonment may increase. Poor Usability. When the experience gets more complicated, buyer’s remorse can set in. While knowledge drives confidence, a lack of understanding erodes it. Therefore it is important that the commerce process is streamlined. In some cases, the number of clicks to complete a purchase is lengthy and unavoidable. In these situations, it is vital to ensure that the complexity of your experience can be explained with contextual support to avoid abandonment. If you can illustrate the solution to a complex action while the user is engaged in that action and address customer frustrations with your checkout process before they arise, you can decrease abandonment. Fraud. The perception of potential fraud can be enough to deter a buyer. Does your site look credible? Can shoppers trust your brand? Providing answers on the security of your experience and the levels of protection applied to profile information may play as big a role in ensuring the sale, as does the support you provide on the product offerings and purchasing process. Does it fit? If it is a clothing item or oversized furniture item, another common form of abandonment is for the shopper to question whether the item can be worn by the intended user. Providing information on the sizing applied to clothing, physical dimensions, and limitations on delivery/returns of oversized items will also assist the sale. A photo alone of the item will help, as it answers some of those questions, but won’t assuage all customer concerns about sizing and fit. Sometimes the customer doesn’t want to buy. Prospective buyers might be browsing through your catalog to kill time, or just might not have the money to purchase the item! You are unlikely to provide any information in contextual support to increase the likelihood to buy if the shopper already has no intentions of doing so. The customer will still likely abandon. Ensuring that any questions are proactively answered as they browse through your site can only increase their likelihood to return and buy at a future date. Can’t Buy. Errors or complexity at checkout can be another major cause of abandonment. Good contextual support is unlikely to help with severe errors caused by technical issues on your site, but it will have a big impact on customers struggling with complexity in the checkout process and needing a question answered prior to completing the sale. Embedded support within the checkout process to patiently explain how to complete a task will help increase conversion rates. Additional Costs. Tax, shipping and other costs or duties can dramatically increase the cost of the purchase and when unexpected, can increase abandonment, particularly if they can’t be adequately explained. Again, a lack of knowledge erodes confidence in the purchase, and cost concerns in particular, erode the perception of your brand’s trustworthiness. Again, providing information on what costs are additive and why they are being levied can decrease the likelihood that the customer will abandon out of the experience. Knowledge drives confidence and confidence drives conversion. If you’d like to understand best practices in providing contextual customer support in eCommerce to provide your shoppers with confidence, download the Oracle Cloud Service and Oracle Commerce - Contextual Support in Commerce White Paper. This white paper discusses the process of adding customer support, including a suggested process for finding where knowledge has the most influence on your shoppers and practical step-by-step illustrations on how contextual self-service can be added to your online commerce experience. • How customers view and interact with a company

    The Harvard Business Review article written by Rayport and Jaworski is aptly titled “Best Face Forward” because it sheds light on how customers view and interact with a company. In the past most business interaction between customers was performed in a face to face meeting where one party would present an item for sale and then the other would decide whether to purchase the item. In addition, if there was a problem with a purchased item then they would bring the item back to the person who sold the item for resolution. One of my earliest examples of witnessing this was when I was around 6 or 7 years old and I was allowed to spend the summer in Tennessee with my Grandparents. My Grandfather had just written a book about the local history of his town and was selling them to his friends and local bookstores. I still remember he offered to pay me a small commission for every book I helped him sell because I was carrying the books around for him. Every sale he made was face to face with his customers which allowed him to share his excitement for the book with everyone. In today’s modern world there is less and less human interaction as the use of computers and other technologies allow us to communicate within seconds even though both parties may be across the globe or just next door. That being said, customers view a company through multiple access points called faces that represent the ability to interact without actually seeing a human face. As a software engineer this is a good and a bad thing because direct human interaction and technology based interaction have both good and bad attributes based on the customer. How organizations coordinate business and IT functions, to provide quality service varies based on each individual business and the goals and directives put in place by its management. According to Rayport and Jaworski, the type of interaction used through a particular access point may lend itself to be people-dominate, machine-dominate, or a combination of both. The method by which a company communicates information through an access point is a strategic choice that relates costs and customer outcomes. To simplify this, the choice is based on what can give the customer the best experience interacting with the company when the cost of the interaction is also a factor. I personally see examples of this every day at work. The company website is machine-dominate with people updating and maintaining information, our groups department is people dominate because most of the customer interaction is done at the customers location and is backed up by machine based data sources, and our sales/member service department is a hybrid because employees work in tandem with machines in order for them to assist customers with signing up or any other issue they may have. The positive and negative aspects of human and machine interfaces are a key aspect in deciding which interface to use when allowing customers to access a company or a combination of the two. Rayport and Jaworski also used MIT professor Erik Brynjolfsson preliminary catalog of human and machine strengths. He stated that humans outperform machines in judgment, pattern recognition, exception processing, insight, and creativity. I have found this to be true based on the example of how sales and member service reps at my company handle a multitude of questions and various situations with a lot of unknown variables. A machine interface could never effectively be able to handle these scenarios because there are too many variables to consider and would not have the built-in logic to process each customer’s claims and needs. In addition, he also stated that machines outperform humans in collecting, storing, transmitting and routine processing. An example of this would be my employer’s website. Customers can simply go online and purchase a product without even talking to a sales or member services representative. The information is then stored in a database so that the customer can always go back and review there order, and access their selected services. A human, no matter how smart they are would never be able to keep track of hundreds of thousands of customers let alone know what they purchased or how much they paid. In today’s technology driven economy every company must offer their customers multiple methods of accessibly in order to survive. The more of an opportunity a company has to create a positive experience for their customers, in my opinion, they more likely the customer will return to that company again. I have noticed this with my personal shopping habits and experiences. References Rayport, J., & Jaworski, B. (2004). Best Face Forward. Harvard Business Review, 82(12), 47-58. • jqGrid - dynamically load different drop down values for different rows depending on another column value

    - by Renso
    Goal: As we all know the jqGrid examples in the demo and the Wiki always refer to static values for drop down boxes. This of course is a personal preference but in dynamic design these values should be populated from the database/xml file, etc, ideally JSON formatted. Can you do this in jqGrid, yes, but with some custom coding which we will briefly show below (refer to some of my other blog entries for a more detailed discussion on this topic). What you CANNOT do in jqGrid, referrign here up and to version 3.8.x, is to load different drop down values for different rows in the jqGrid. Well, not without some trickery, which is what this discussion is about. Issue: Of course the issue is that jqGrid has been designed for high performance and thus I have no issue with them loading a  reference to a single drop down values list for every column. This way if you have 500 rows or one, each row only refers to a single list for that particuolar column. Nice! SO how easy would it be to simply traverse the grid once loaded on gridComplete or loadComplete and simply load the select tag's options from scratch, via ajax, from memory variable, hard coded etc? Impossible! Since their is no embedded SELECT tag within each cell containing the drop down values (remeber it only has a reference to that list in memory), all you will see when you inspect the cell prior to clicking on it, or even before and on beforeEditCell, is an empty <TD></TD>. When trying to load that list via a click event on that cell will temporarily load the list but jqGrid's last internal callback event will remove it and replace it with the old one, and you are back to square one. Solution: Yes, after spending a few hours on this found a solution to the problem that does not require any updates to jqGrid source code, thank GOD! Before we get into the coding details, the solution here can of course be customized to suite your specific needs, this one loads the entire drop down list that would be needed across all rows once into global variable. I then parse this object that contains all the properties I need to filter the rows depending on which ones I want the user to see based off of another cell value in that row. This only happens when clicking the cell, so no performance penalty. You may of course to load it via ajax when the user clicks the cell, but I found it more effecient to load the entire list as part of jqGrid's normal editoptions: { multiple: false, value: listingStatus } colModel options which again keeps only a reference to the sinlge list, no duplciation. Lets get into the meat and potatoes of it.         var acctId = $('#Id').val();         var data = $.ajax({ url: $('#ajaxGetAllMaterialsTrackingLookupDataUrl').val(), data: { accountId: acctId }, dataType: 'json', async: false, success: function(data, result) { if (!result) alert('Failure to retrieve the Alert related lookup data.'); } }).responseText;         var lookupData = eval('(' + data + ')');         var listingCategory = lookupData.ListingCategory;         var listingStatus = lookupData.ListingStatus;         var catList = '{';         $(lookupData.ListingCategory).each(function() {             catList += this.Id + ':"' + this.Name + '",';         });         catList += '}';         var lastsel;         var ignoreAlert = true;         $(item)         .jqGrid({             url: listURL,             postData: '',             datatype: "local",             colNames: ['Id', 'Name', 'Commission<br />Rep', 'Business<br />Group', 'Order<br />Date', 'Edit', 'TBD', 'Month', 'Year', 'Week', 'Product', 'Product<br />Type', 'Online/<br />Magazine', 'Materials', 'Special<br />Placement', 'Logo', 'Image', 'Text', 'Contact<br />Info', 'Everthing<br />In', 'Category', 'Status'],             colModel: [                 { name: 'Id', index: 'Id', hidden: true, hidedlg: true },                 { name: 'AccountName', index: 'AccountName', align: "left", resizable: true, search: true, width: 100 },                 { name: 'OnlineName', index: 'OnlineName', align: 'left', sortable: false, width: 80 },                 { name: 'ListingCategoryName', index: 'ListingCategoryName', width: 85, editable: true, hidden: false, edittype: "select", editoptions: { multiple: false, value: eval('(' + catList + ')') }, editrules: { required: false }, formatoptions: { disabled: false} }             ],             jsonReader: {                 root: "List",                 page: "CurrentPage",                 total: "TotalPages",                 records: "TotalRecords",                 userdata: "Errors",                 repeatitems: false,                 id: "0"             },             rowNum: $rows,             rowList: [10, 20, 50, 200, 500, 1000, 2000],             imgpath: jQueryImageRoot,             pager: $(item + 'Pager'),             shrinkToFit: true,             width: 1455,             recordtext: 'Traffic lines',             sortname: 'OrderDate',             viewrecords: true,             sortorder: "asc",             altRows: true,             cellEdit: true,             cellsubmit: "remote",             cellurl: editURL + '?rows=' + $rows + '&page=1',             loadComplete: function() {               },             gridComplete: function() {             },             loadError: function(xhr, st, err) {             },             afterEditCell: function(rowid, cellname, value, iRow, iCol) {                 var select = $(item).find('td.edit-cell select');                 $(item).find('td.edit-cell select option').each(function() {                     var option = $(this);                     var optionId = $(this).val();                     $(lookupData.ListingCategory).each(function() {                         if (this.Id == optionId) {                                                       if (this.OnlineName != $(item).getCell(rowid, 'OnlineName')) {                                 option.remove();                                 return false;                             }                         }                     });                 });             },             search: true,             searchdata: {},             caption: "List of all Traffic lines",             editurl: editURL + '?rows=' + $rows + '&page=1',             hiddengrid: hideGrid   Here is the JSON data returned via the ajax call during the jqGrid function call above (NOTE it must be { async: false}: {"ListingCategory":[{"Id":29,"Name":"Document Imaging & Management","OnlineName":"RF Globalnet"} ,{"Id":1,"Name":"Ancillary Department Hardware","OnlineName":"Healthcare Technology Online"} ,{"Id":2,"Name":"Asset Tracking","OnlineName":"Healthcare Technology Online"} ,{"Id":3,"Name":"Asset Tracking","OnlineName":"Healthcare Technology Online"} ,{"Id":4,"Name":"Asset Tracking","OnlineName":"Healthcare Technology Online"} ,{"Id":5,"Name":"Document Imaging & Management","OnlineName":"Healthcare Technology Online"} ,{"Id":6,"Name":"Document Imaging & Management","OnlineName":"Healthcare Technology Online"} ,{"Id":7,"Name":"EMR/EHR Software","OnlineName":"Healthcare Technology Online"}]} I only need the Id and Name for the drop down list, but the third column in the JSON object is important, it is the only that I match up with the OnlineName in the jqGrid column, and then in the loop during afterEditCell simply remove the ones I don't want the user to see. That's it!

  • Custom page sizes in paging dropdown in Telerik RadGrid

    Working with Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX is actually quite easy and the initial effort to get started with the control suite is very low. Meaning that you can easily get good result with little time. But there are usually cases where you have to go a little further and dig a little bit deeper than the standard scenarios. In this article I am going to describe how you can customize the default values (10, 20 and 50) of the drop-down list in the paging element of RadGrid. Get control over the displayed page sizes while using numeric paging... The default page sizes are good but not always good enough The paging feature in RadGrid offers you 3, well actually 4, possible page sizes in the drop-down element out-of-the box, which are 10, 20 or 50 items. You can get a fourth option by specifying a value different than the three standards for the PageSize attribute, ie. 35 or 100. The drawback in that case is that it is the initial page size. Certainly, the available choices could be more flexible or even a little bit more intelligent. For example, by taking the total count of records into consideration. There are some interesting scenarios that would justify a customized page size element: A low number of records, like 14 or similar shouldn't provide a page size of 50, A high total count of records (ie: 300+) should offer more choices, ie: 100, 200, 500, or display of all records regardless of number of records I am sure that you might have your own requirements, and I hope that the following source code snippets might be helpful. Wiring the ItemCreated event In order to adjust and manipulate the existing RadComboBox in the paging element we have to handle the OnItemCreated event of RadGrid. Simply specify your code behind method in the attribute of the RadGrid tag, like so: <telerik:RadGrid ID="RadGridLive" runat="server" AllowPaging="true" PageSize="20"    AllowSorting="true" AutoGenerateColumns="false" OnNeedDataSource="RadGridLive_NeedDataSource"    OnItemDataBound="RadGrid_ItemDataBound" OnItemCreated="RadGrid_ItemCreated">    <ClientSettings EnableRowHoverStyle="true">        <ClientEvents OnRowCreated="RowCreated" OnRowSelected="RowSelected" />        <Resizing AllowColumnResize="True" AllowRowResize="false" ResizeGridOnColumnResize="false"            ClipCellContentOnResize="true" EnableRealTimeResize="false" AllowResizeToFit="true" />        <Scrolling AllowScroll="true" ScrollHeight="360px" UseStaticHeaders="true" SaveScrollPosition="true" />        <Selecting AllowRowSelect="true" />    </ClientSettings>    <MasterTableView DataKeyNames="AdvertID">        <PagerStyle AlwaysVisible="true" Mode="NextPrevAndNumeric" />        <Columns>            <telerik:GridBoundColumn HeaderText="Listing ID" DataField="AdvertID" DataType="System.Int32"                SortExpression="AdvertID" UniqueName="AdvertID">                <HeaderStyle Width="66px" />            </telerik:GridBoundColumn>             <!--//  ... and some more columns ... -->         </Columns>    </MasterTableView></telerik:RadGrid> To provide a consistent experience for your visitors it might be helpful to display the page size selection always. This is done by setting the AlwaysVisible attribute of the PagerStyle element to true, like highlighted above. Customize the values of page size Your delegate method for the ItemCreated event should look like this: protected void RadGrid_ItemCreated(object sender, GridItemEventArgs e){    if (e.Item is GridPagerItem)    {        var dropDown = (RadComboBox)e.Item.FindControl("PageSizeComboBox");        var totalCount = ((GridPagerItem)e.Item).Paging.DataSourceCount;        var sizes = new Dictionary<string, string>() {            {"10", "10"},            {"20", "20"},            {"50", "50"}        };        if (totalCount > 100)        {            sizes.Add("100", "100");        }        if (totalCount > 200)        {            sizes.Add("200", "200");        }        sizes.Add("All", totalCount.ToString());        dropDown.Items.Clear();        foreach (var size in sizes)        {            var cboItem = new RadComboBoxItem() { Text = size.Key, Value = size.Value };            cboItem.Attributes.Add("ownerTableViewId", e.Item.OwnerTableView.ClientID);            dropDown.Items.Add(cboItem);        }        dropDown.FindItemByValue(e.Item.OwnerTableView.PageSize.ToString()).Selected = true;    }} It is important that we explicitly check the event arguments for GridPagerItem as it is the control that contains the PageSizeComboBox control that we want to manipulate. To keep the actual modification and exposure of possible page size values flexible I am filling a Dictionary with the requested 'key/value'-pairs based on the number of total records displayed in the grid. As a final step, ensure that the previously selected value is the active one using the FindItemByValue() method. Of course, there might be different requirements but I hope that the snippet above provide a first insight into customized page size value in Telerik's Grid. The Grid demos describe a more advanced approach to customize the Pager.

  • How can I implement a database TableView like thing in C++?

    - by Industrial-antidepressant
    How can I implement a TableView like thing in C++? I want to emulating a tiny relation database like thing in C++. I have data tables, and I want to transform it somehow, so I need a TableView like class. I want filtering, sorting, freely add and remove items and transforming (ex. view as UPPERCASE and so on). The whole thing is inside a GUI application, so datatables and views are attached to a GUI (or HTML or something). So how can I identify an item in the view? How can I signal it when the table is changed? Is there some design pattern for this? Here is a simple table, and a simple data item: #include <string> #include <boost/multi_index_container.hpp> #include <boost/multi_index/member.hpp> #include <boost/multi_index/ordered_index.hpp> #include <boost/multi_index/random_access_index.hpp> using boost::multi_index_container; using namespace boost::multi_index; struct Data { Data() {} int id; std::string name; }; struct row{}; struct id{}; struct name{}; typedef boost::multi_index_container< Data, indexed_by< random_access<tag<row> >, ordered_unique<tag<id>, member<Data, int, &Data::id> >, ordered_unique<tag<name>, member<Data, std::string, &Data::name> > > > TDataTable; class DataTable { public: typedef Data item_type; typedef TDataTable::value_type value_type; typedef TDataTable::const_reference const_reference; typedef TDataTable::index<row>::type TRowIndex; typedef TDataTable::index<id>::type TIdIndex; typedef TDataTable::index<name>::type TNameIndex; typedef TRowIndex::iterator iterator; DataTable() : row_index(rule_table.get<row>()), id_index(rule_table.get<id>()), name_index(rule_table.get<name>()), row_index_writeable(rule_table.get<row>()) { } TDataTable::const_reference operator[](TDataTable::size_type n) const { return rule_table[n]; } std::pair<iterator,bool> push_back(const value_type& x) { return row_index_writeable.push_back(x); } iterator erase(iterator position) { return row_index_writeable.erase(position); } bool replace(iterator position,const value_type& x) { return row_index_writeable.replace(position, x); } template<typename InputIterator> void rearrange(InputIterator first) { return row_index_writeable.rearrange(first); } void print_table() const; unsigned size() const { return row_index.size(); } TDataTable rule_table; const TRowIndex& row_index; const TIdIndex& id_index; const TNameIndex& name_index; private: TRowIndex& row_index_writeable; }; class DataTableView { DataTableView(const DataTable& source_table) {} // How can I implement this? // I want filtering, sorting, signaling upper GUI layer, and sorting, and ... }; int main() { Data data1; data1.id = 1; data1.name = "name1"; Data data2; data2.id = 2; data2.name = "name2"; DataTable table; table.push_back(data1); DataTable::iterator it1 = table.row_index.iterator_to(table[0]); table.erase(it1); table.push_back(data1); Data new_data(table[0]); new_data.name = "new_name"; table.replace(table.row_index.iterator_to(table[0]), new_data); for (unsigned i = 0; i < table.size(); ++i) std::cout << table[i].name << std::endl; #if 0 // using scenarios: DataTableView table_view(table); table_view.fill_from_source(); // synchronization with source table_view.remove(data_item1); // remove item from view table_view.add(data_item2); // add item from source table table_view.filter(filterfunc); // filtering table_view.sort(sortfunc); // sorting // modifying from source_able, hot to signal the table_view? // FYI: Table view is atteched to a GUI item table.erase(data); table.replace(data); #endif return 0; }

  • ASP.NET make a panel visible on click of hyperlink (whilst also cuasing postback for page navigation

    - by Helen
    I may be asking the impossible but let me set out my problem: I have a menu in a MasterPage which uses images and mouseover mouseout events for design purposes. On one of the menu options I need to display a set of sub menus options on the click of the parent menu item. The menu item itself also needs to navigate to a specified url. I was originally trying to use an AJAX accordion panel but as I only had one accordion panel it was always displaying the sub menu items and was not collapsing. I have also tried putting the options in a div and setting the display via javascript. This worked but then was overwritten once the page navigation postback occurred. • Data not synchornizing java sockets

    - by Droid_Interceptor
    I am writing a auction server and client and using a class called BidHandler to deal with the bids another class AuctionItem to deal with the items for auction. The main problem I am having is little synchroization problem. Screen output of client server as can see from the image at 1st it takes the new bid and changes the value of the time to it, but when one the user enters 1.0 the item seems to be changed to that. But later on when the bid changes again to 15.0 it seems to stay at that price. Is there any reason for that. I have included my code below. Sorry if didnt explain this well. This is the auction client import java.io.*; import java.net.*; public class AuctionClient { private AuctionGui gui; private Socket socket; private DataInputStream dataIn; private DataOutputStream dataOut; //Auction Client constructor String name used as identifier for each client to allow server to pick the winning bidder public AuctionClient(String name,String server, int port) { gui = new AuctionGui("Bidomatic 5000"); gui.input.addKeyListener (new EnterListener(this,gui)); gui.addWindowListener(new ExitListener(this)); try { socket = new Socket(server, port); dataIn = new DataInputStream(socket.getInputStream()); dataOut = new DataOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream()); dataOut.writeUTF(name); while (true) { gui.output.append("\n"+dataIn.readUTF()); } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public void sentBid(String bid) { try { dataOut.writeUTF(bid); } catch(IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public void disconnect() { try { socket.close(); } catch(IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public static void main (String args[]) throws IOException { if(args.length!=3) { throw new RuntimeException ("Syntax: java AuctionClient <name> <serverhost> <port>"); } int port = Integer.parseInt(args[2]); AuctionClient a = new AuctionClient(args[0],args[1],port); } } The Auction Server import java.io.*; import java.net.*; import java.util.*; public class AuctionServer { public AuctionServer(int port) throws IOException { ServerSocket server = new ServerSocket(port); while(true) { Socket client = server.accept(); DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(client.getInputStream()); String name = in.readUTF(); System.out.println("New client "+name+" from " +client.getInetAddress()); BidHandler b = new BidHandler (name, client); b.start(); } } public static void main(String args[]) throws IOException { if(args.length != 1) throw new RuntimeException("Syntax: java AuctionServer <port>"); new AuctionServer(Integer.parseInt(args[0])); } } The BidHandler import java.net.*; import java.io.*; import java.util.*; import java.lang.Float; public class BidHandler extends Thread { Socket socket; DataInputStream in; DataOutputStream out; String name; float currentBid = 0.0f; AuctionItem paper = new AuctionItem(" News Paper ", " Free newspaper from 1990 ", 1.0f, false); protected static Vector handlers = new Vector(); public BidHandler(String name, Socket socket) throws IOException { this.name = name; this.socket = socket; in = new DataInputStream (new BufferedInputStream (socket.getInputStream())); out = new DataOutputStream(new BufferedOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream())); } public synchronized void run() { try { broadcast("New bidder has entered the room"); handlers.addElement(this); while(true) { broadcast(paper.getName() + paper.getDescription()+" for sale at: " +paper.getPrice()); while(paper.getStatus() == false) { String message = in.readUTF(); currentBid = Float.parseFloat(message); broadcast("Bidder entered " +currentBid); if(currentBid > paper.getPrice()) { paper.setPrice(currentBid); broadcast("New Higgest Bid is "+paper.getPrice()); } else if(currentBid < paper.getPrice()) { broadcast("Higgest Bid is "+paper.getPrice()); } else if(currentBid == paper.getPrice()) { broadcast("Higgest Bid is "+paper.getPrice()); } } } } catch(IOException ex) { System.out.println("-- Connection to user lost."); } finally { handlers.removeElement(this); broadcast(name+" left"); try { socket.close(); } catch(IOException ex) { System.out.println("-- Socket to user already closed ?"); } } } protected static void broadcast (String message) { synchronized(handlers) { Enumeration e = handlers.elements(); while(e.hasMoreElements()) { BidHandler handler = (BidHandler) e.nextElement(); try { handler.out.writeUTF(message); handler.out.flush(); } catch(IOException ex) { handler = null; } } } } } The AuctionItem Class class AuctionItem { String itemName; String itemDescription; float itemPrice; boolean itemStatus; //Create a new auction item with name, description, price and status public AuctionItem(String name, String description, float price, boolean status) { itemName = name; itemDescription = description; itemPrice = price; itemStatus = status; } //return the price of the item. public synchronized float getPrice() { return itemPrice; } //Set the price of the item. public synchronized void setPrice(float newPrice) { itemPrice = newPrice; } //Get the status of the item public synchronized boolean getStatus() { return itemStatus; } //Set the status of the item public synchronized void setStatus(boolean newStatus) { itemStatus = newStatus; } //Get the name of the item public String getName() { return itemName; } //Get the description of the item public String getDescription() { return itemDescription; } } There is also simple GUI to go with this that seems to be working fine. If anyone wants it will include the GUI code.

  • Building an ASP.Net 4.5 Web forms application - part 4

    - by nikolaosk
    ?his is the fourth post in a series of posts on how to design and implement an ASP.Net 4.5 Web Forms store that sells posters on line.There are 3 more posts in this series of posts.Please make sure you read them first.You can find the first post here. You can find the second post here. You can find the third post here.  In this new post we will build on the previous posts and we will demonstrate how to display the posters per category.We will add a ListView control on the PosterList.aspx and will bind data from the database. We will use the various templates.Then we will write code in the PosterList.aspx.cs to fetch data from the database.1) Launch Visual Studio and open your solution where your project lives2) Open the PosterList.aspx page. We will add some markup in this page. Have a look at the code below  <section class="posters-featured">                    <ul>                         <asp:ListView ID="posterList" runat="server"                            DataKeyNames="PosterID"                            GroupItemCount="3" ItemType="PostersOnLine.DAL.Poster" SelectMethod="GetPosters">                            <EmptyDataTemplate>                                      <table id="Table1" runat="server">                                            <tr>                                                  <td>We have no data.</td>                                            </tr>                                     </table>                              </EmptyDataTemplate>                              <EmptyItemTemplate>                                     <td id="Td1" runat="server" />                              </EmptyItemTemplate>                              <GroupTemplate>                                    <tr ID="itemPlaceholderContainer" runat="server">                                          <td ID="itemPlaceholder" runat="server"></td>                                    </tr>                              </GroupTemplate>                              <ItemTemplate>                                    <td id="Td2" runat="server">                                          <table>                                                <tr>                                                      <td>&nbsp;</td>                                                      <td>                                                <a href="PosterDetails.aspx?posterID=<%#:Item.PosterID%>">                                                    <img src="<%#:Item.PosterImgpath%>"                                                        width="100" height="75" border="1"/></a>                                             </td>                                            <td>                                                <a href="PosterDetails.aspx?posterID=<%#:Item.PosterID%>">                                                    <span class="PosterName">                                                        <%#:Item.PosterName%>                                                    </span>                                                </a>                                                            <br />                                                <span class="PosterPrice">                                                               <b>Price: </b><%#:String.Format("{0:c}", Item.PosterPrice)%>                                                </span>                                                <br />                                                        </td>                                                </tr>                                          </table>                                    </td>                              </ItemTemplate>                              <LayoutTemplate>                                    <table id="Table2" runat="server">                                          <tr id="Tr1" runat="server">                                                <td id="Td3" runat="server">                                                      <table ID="groupPlaceholderContainer" runat="server">                                                            <tr ID="groupPlaceholder" runat="server"></tr>                                                      </table>                                                </td>                                          </tr>                                          <tr id="Tr2" runat="server"><td id="Td4" runat="server"></td></tr>                                    </table>                              </LayoutTemplate>                        </asp:ListView>                    </ul>               </section>  3) We have a ListView control on the page called PosterList. I set the ItemType property to the Poster class and then the SelectMethod to the GetPosters method.  I will create this method later on.   (ItemType="PostersOnLine.DAL.Poster" SelectMethod="GetPosters")Then in the code below  I have the data-binding expression Item  available and the control becomes strongly typed.So when the user clicks on the link of the poster's category the relevant information will be displayed (photo,name and price)                                            <td>                                                <a href="PosterDetails.aspx?posterID=<%#:Item.PosterID%>">                                                    <img src="<%#:Item.PosterImgpath%>"                                                        width="100" height="75" border="1"/></a>                                             </td>4)  Now we need to write the simple method to populate the ListView control.It is called GetPosters method.The code follows   public IQueryable<Poster> GetPosters([QueryString("id")] int? PosterCatID)        {            PosterContext ctx = new PosterContext();            IQueryable<Poster> query = ctx.Posters;            if (PosterCatID.HasValue && PosterCatID > 0)            {                query = query.Where(p=>p.PosterCategoryID==PosterCatID);            }            return query;                    } This is a very simple method that returns information about posters related to the PosterCatID passed to it.I bind the value from the query string to the PosterCatID parameter at run time.This is all possible due to the QueryStringAttribute class that lives inside the System.Web.ModelBinding and gets the value of the query string variable id.5) I run my application and then click on the "Midfilders" link. Have a look at the picture below to see the results.  In the Site.css file I added some new CSS rules to make everything more presentable. .posters-featured {    width:840px;    background-color:#efefef;}.posters-featured   a:link, a:visited,    a:active, a:hover {        color: #000033;    }.posters-featured    a:hover {        background-color: #85c465;    }  6) I run the application again and this time I do not choose any category, I simply navigate to the PosterList.aspx page. I see all the posters since no query string was passed as a parameter.Have a look at the picture below   ?ake sure you place breakpoints in the code so you can see what is really going on.In the next post I will show you how to display poster details.Hope it helps!!!

    i want to custom tabbars and want to circulate slide,default tab bar only have 5 items show at the same time,it not meet me,i have 11 items,so i want to make 3 tabbars ,every have 5 items,for example A(0-4)--B(5-9)--C(10)--A--B--C--A. at print i only finish A(0-4)--B(5-9)--C(10),how to make them circulate? my code : .h file #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @protocol InfiniTabBarDelegate; @interface InfiniTabBar : UIScrollView <UIScrollViewDelegate, UITabBarDelegate> { __weak id <InfiniTabBarDelegate> infiniTabBarDelegate; NSMutableArray *tabBars; UITabBar *aTabBar; UITabBar *bTabBar; } @property (nonatomic, weak) id infiniTabBarDelegate; @property (strong,nonatomic) NSMutableArray *tabBars; @property (strong,nonatomic) UITabBar *aTabBar; @property (strong,nonatomic) UITabBar *bTabBar; - (id)initWithItems:(NSArray *)items; - (void)setBounces:(BOOL)bounces; // Don't set more items than initially - (void)setItems:(NSArray *)items animated:(BOOL)animated; - (int)currentTabBarTag; - (int)selectedItemTag; - (BOOL)scrollToTabBarWithTag:(int)tag animated:(BOOL)animated; - (BOOL)selectItemWithTag:(int)tag; @end @protocol InfiniTabBarDelegate <NSObject> - (void)infiniTabBar:(InfiniTabBar *)tabBar didScrollToTabBarWithTag:(int)tag; - (void)infiniTabBar:(InfiniTabBar *)tabBar didSelectItemWithTag:(int)tag; @end .m file @implementation InfiniTabBar @synthesize infiniTabBarDelegate; @synthesize tabBars; @synthesize aTabBar; @synthesize bTabBar; - (id)initWithItems:(NSArray *)items { self = [super initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 411.0, 320.0, 49.0)]; // TODO: //self = [super initWithFrame:CGRectMake(self.superview.frame.origin.x + self.superview.frame.size.width - 320.0, self.superview.frame.origin.y + self.superview.frame.size.height - 49.0, 320.0, 49.0)]; // Doesn't work. self is nil at this point. if (self) { self.pagingEnabled = YES; self.delegate = self; self.tabBars = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; float x = 0.0; for (double d = 0; d < ceil(items.count / 5.0); d ++) { UITabBar *tabBar = [[UITabBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(x, 0.0, 320.0, 49.0)]; tabBar.delegate = self; int len = 0; for (int i = d * 5; i < d * 5 + 5; i ++) if (i < items.count) len ++; tabBar.items = [items objectsAtIndexes:[NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndexesInRange:NSMakeRange(d * 5, len)]]; // NSLog(@"####%@",NSMakeRange(d * 5, len)); [self.tabBars addObject:tabBar]; [self addSubview:tabBar]; x += 320.0; } self.contentSize = CGSizeMake(x, 49.0); } return self; } - (void)setBounces:(BOOL)bounces { if (bounces) { int count = self.tabBars.count; if (count > 0) { if (self.aTabBar == nil) self.aTabBar = [[UITabBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(-320.0, 0.0, 320.0, 49.0)]; [self addSubview:self.aTabBar]; if (self.bTabBar == nil) self.bTabBar = [[UITabBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(count * 320.0, 0.0, 320.0, 49.0)]; [self addSubview:self.bTabBar]; } } else { [self.aTabBar removeFromSuperview]; [self.bTabBar removeFromSuperview]; } [super setBounces:bounces]; } - (void)setItems:(NSArray *)items animated:(BOOL)animated { for (UITabBar *tabBar in self.tabBars) { int len = 0; for (int i = [self.tabBars indexOfObject:tabBar] * 5; i < [self.tabBars indexOfObject:tabBar] * 5 + 5; i ++) if (i < items.count) len ++; [tabBar setItems:[items objectsAtIndexes:[NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndexesInRange:NSMakeRange([self.tabBars indexOfObject:tabBar] * 5, len)]] animated:animated]; } self.contentSize = CGSizeMake(ceil(items.count / 5.0) * 320.0, 49.0); } - (int)currentTabBarTag { return self.contentOffset.x / 320.0; } - (int)selectedItemTag { for (UITabBar *tabBar in self.tabBars) if (tabBar.selectedItem != nil) return tabBar.selectedItem.tag; // No item selected return 0; } - (BOOL)scrollToTabBarWithTag:(int)tag animated:(BOOL)animated { for (UITabBar *tabBar in self.tabBars) if ([self.tabBars indexOfObject:tabBar] == tag) { UITabBar *tabBar = [self.tabBars objectAtIndex:tag]; [self scrollRectToVisible:tabBar.frame animated:animated]; if (animated == NO) [self scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:self]; return YES; } return NO; } - (BOOL)selectItemWithTag:(int)tag { for (UITabBar *tabBar in self.tabBars) for (UITabBarItem *item in tabBar.items) if (item.tag == tag) { tabBar.selectedItem = item; [self tabBar:tabBar didSelectItem:item]; return YES; } return NO; } - (void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { [infiniTabBarDelegate infiniTabBar:self didScrollToTabBarWithTag:scrollView.contentOffset.x / 320.0]; } - (void)scrollViewDidEndScrollingAnimation:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { [self scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:scrollView]; } - (void)tabBar:(UITabBar *)cTabBar didSelectItem:(UITabBarItem *)item { // Act like a single tab bar for (UITabBar *tabBar in self.tabBars) if (tabBar != cTabBar) tabBar.selectedItem = nil; [infiniTabBarDelegate infiniTabBar:self didSelectItemWithTag:item.tag]; } @end

  • Python hashable dicts

    - by TokenMacGuy
    As an exercise, and mostly for my own amusement, I'm implementing a backtracking packrat parser. The inspiration for this is i'd like to have a better idea about how hygenic macros would work in an algol-like language (as apposed to the syntax free lisp dialects you normally find them in). Because of this, different passes through the input might see different grammars, so cached parse results are invalid, unless I also store the current version of the grammar along with the cached parse results. (EDIT: a consequence of this use of key-value collections is that they should be immutable, but I don't intend to expose the interface to allow them to be changed, so either mutable or immutable collections are fine) The problem is that python dicts cannot appear as keys to other dicts. Even using a tuple (as I'd be doing anyways) doesn't help. >>> cache = {} >>> rule = {"foo":"bar"} >>> cache[(rule, "baz")] = "quux" Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> TypeError: unhashable type: 'dict' >>> I guess it has to be tuples all the way down. Now the python standard library provides approximately what i'd need, collections.namedtuple has a very different syntax, but can be used as a key. continuing from above session: >>> from collections import namedtuple >>> Rule = namedtuple("Rule",rule.keys()) >>> cache[(Rule(**rule), "baz")] = "quux" >>> cache {(Rule(foo='bar'), 'baz'): 'quux'} Ok. But I have to make a class for each possible combination of keys in the rule I would want to use, which isn't so bad, because each parse rule knows exactly what parameters it uses, so that class can be defined at the same time as the function that parses the rule. But combining the rules together is much more dynamic. In particular, I'd like a simple way to have rules override other rules, but collections.namedtuple has no analogue to dict.update(). Edit: An additional problem with namedtuples is that they are strictly positional. Two tuples that look like they should be different can in fact be the same: >>> you = namedtuple("foo",["bar","baz"]) >>> me = namedtuple("foo",["bar","quux"]) >>> you(bar=1,baz=2) == me(bar=1,quux=2) True >>> bob = namedtuple("foo",["baz","bar"]) >>> you(bar=1,baz=2) == bob(bar=1,baz=2) False tl'dr: How do I get dicts that can be used as keys to other dicts? Having hacked a bit on the answers, here's the more complete solution I'm using. Note that this does a bit extra work to make the resulting dicts vaguely immutable for practical purposes. Of course it's still quite easy to hack around it by calling dict.__setitem__(instance, key, value) but we're all adults here. class hashdict(dict): """ hashable dict implementation, suitable for use as a key into other dicts. >>> h1 = hashdict({"apples": 1, "bananas":2}) >>> h2 = hashdict({"bananas": 3, "mangoes": 5}) >>> h1+h2 hashdict(apples=1, bananas=3, mangoes=5) >>> d1 = {} >>> d1[h1] = "salad" >>> d1[h1] 'salad' >>> d1[h2] Traceback (most recent call last): ... • CheckBox ListView SelectedValues DependencyProperty Binding

    - by Ristogod
    I am writing a custom control that is a ListView that has a CheckBox on each item in the ListView to indicate that item is Selected. I was able to do so with the following XAML. <ListView x:Class="CheckedListViewSample.CheckBoxListView" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" mc:Ignorable="d"> <ListView.Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListView}"> <Setter Property="SelectionMode" Value="Multiple" /> <Style.Resources> <Style TargetType="ListViewItem"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="ListViewItem"> <Border BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding Border.BorderThickness}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Control.Padding}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding Border.BorderBrush}" Background="{TemplateBinding Panel.Background}" SnapsToDevicePixels="True"> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding IsSelected, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type ListViewItem}}}"> <CheckBox.Content> <ContentPresenter Content="{TemplateBinding ContentControl.Content}" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentControl.ContentTemplate}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding Control.HorizontalContentAlignment}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding Control.VerticalContentAlignment}" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding UIElement.SnapsToDevicePixels}" /> </CheckBox.Content> </CheckBox> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </Style.Resources> </Style> </ListView.Style> </ListView> I however am trying to attempt one more feature. The ListView has a SelectedItems DependencyProperty that returns a collection of the Items that are checked. However, I need to implement a SelectedValues DependencyProperty. I also am implementing a SelectedValuesPath DependencyProperty. By using the SelectedValuesPath, I indicate the path where the values are found for each selected item. So if my items have an ID property, I can specify using the SelectedValuesPath property "ID". The SelectedValues property would then return a collection of ID values. I have this working also using this code in the code-behind: using System.Windows; using System.Windows.Controls; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; namespace CheckedListViewSample { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for CheckBoxListView.xaml /// </summary> public partial class CheckBoxListView : ListView { public static DependencyProperty SelectedValuesPathProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("SelectedValuesPath", typeof(string), typeof(CheckBoxListView), new PropertyMetadata(string.Empty, null)); public static DependencyProperty SelectedValuesProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("SelectedValues", typeof(IList), typeof(CheckBoxListView), new PropertyMetadata(new List<object>(), null)); [Category("Appearance")] [Localizability(LocalizationCategory.NeverLocalize)] [Bindable(true)] public string SelectedValuesPath { get { return ((string)(base.GetValue(CheckBoxListView.SelectedValuesPathProperty))); } set { base.SetValue(CheckBoxListView.SelectedValuesPathProperty, value); } } [Bindable(true)] [DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Hidden)] [Category("Appearance")] public IList SelectedValues { get { return ((IList)(base.GetValue(CheckBoxListView.SelectedValuesPathProperty))); } set { base.SetValue(CheckBoxListView.SelectedValuesPathProperty, value); } } public CheckBoxListView() : base() { InitializeComponent(); base.SelectionChanged += new SelectionChangedEventHandler(CheckBoxListView_SelectionChanged); } private void CheckBoxListView_SelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { List<object> values = new List<object>(); foreach (var item in SelectedItems) { if (string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(SelectedValuesPath)) { values.Add(item); } else { try { values.Add(item.GetType().GetProperty(SelectedValuesPath).GetValue(item, null)); } catch { } } } base.SetValue(CheckBoxListView.SelectedValuesProperty, values); e.Handled = true; } } } My problem is that my binding only works one way right now. I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to implement my SelectedValues DependencyProperty so that I could Bind a Collection of values to it, and when the control is loaded, the CheckBoxes are checked with items that have values that correspond to the SelectedValues. I've considered using the PropertyChangedCallBack event, but can't quite figure out how I could write that to achieve my goal. I'm also unsure of how I find the correct ListViewItem to set it as Selected. And lastly, if I can find the ListViewItem and set it to be Selected, won't that fire my SelectionChanged event each time I set a ListViewItem to be Selected?

  • Flex ItemRenderer/Editor ComboBox Issue...Puhleezz Help

    - by Mohit
    Hi EveryOne Beginner in Flex ...Even worse with item renderers... Have managed to add a Combobox to a datagrid using a itemEditor... I want to change the options in a combo box depending on the value selected by the user on a previous combo.. In the combo box i want to display a certain value (Model Name ) but for quering a table i'll pass the corresponding code of the model :(... sounds simple enough ..unfortunately not able to implement it I have found this problem on this site but the solution seems an overkill for my "small" problem..was hoping if anyone could guide me towards a more simpler solution... My xml comes as <item><mstValue>CH1</mstValue><mstRemarks>CARRIER</mstRemarks></item> <item><mstValue>CH2</mstValue><mstRemarks>TRANS</mstRemarks></item> <item><mstValue>CH3</mstValue><mstRemarks>YORK</mstRemarks></item> Now i have been able to show the values in a combo .if user selects CARRIER i want to pass CH1(dont know how to do it with itemeditors)...and then fetch values corresponding to CH1 from a table (second part of the problem)...in the sample below i used this.parentDocument.modelComboChanged(this.selectedItem) to pass the selected value ...instedd i need to pass the code for it which comes from the xml...Pls help this making me go crazy.... <mx:DataGrid id="chillerGrid" dataProvider="{chillerGridDp}" editable="true" itemRollOver="{ComponentUtil.setTooltip(event,this)}" itemRollOut="ComponentUtil.resetTooltip(event)" width="70%" height="160"> <mx:columns> <mx:DataGridColumn id="test" headerText="Model" dataField="model" editorDataField="value" editable="true" backgroundColor="#f4f2bd" width="100" > <mx:itemEditor> <mx:Component> <mx:ComboBox creationComplete="{if(text=='')selectedIndex=0;if(data &amp;&amp; data.contactType!=undefined)text=data.contactType.text();}" change="{if(text == ''){selectedIndex=0;if(data &amp;&amp; data.contactType!=undefined)text=data.contactType.text();};this.parentDocument.modelComboChanged(this.selectedItem)}" dataProvider="{this.parentDocument.arrColl1}" text="mstRemarks" labelField="mstRemarks" editable = "false" > <!--<mx:dataProvider > <mx:String></mx:String> <mx:String>Model1</mx:String> <mx:String>Model2</mx:String> <mx:String>Model3</mx:String> <mx:String>Model4</mx:String> <mx:String>Model5</mx:String> </mx:dataProvider>--> </mx:ComboBox> <!--<components:ComboBoxIn dataProvider="{this.parentDocument.arrColl1}" labelField="mstRemarks" /> --> </mx:Component> </mx:itemEditor> </mx:DataGridColumn> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Make" dataField="make" editorDataField="value" editable="true" backgroundColor="#f4f2bd" width="100" > <mx:itemEditor> <mx:Component> <mx:ComboBox creationComplete="{if(text=='')selectedIndex=0;if(data &amp;&amp; data.contactType!=undefined)text=data.contactType.text();}" change="{if(text == ''){selectedIndex=0;if(data &amp;&amp; data.contactType!=undefined)text=data.contactType.text();} }" labelField="@label" editable = "false" > <mx:dataProvider> <mx:String></mx:String> <mx:String>Carrier</mx:String> <mx:String>York</mx:String> <mx:String>Trane</mx:String> </mx:dataProvider> </mx:ComboBox> </mx:Component> </mx:itemEditor> </mx:DataGridColumn> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Chillers" dataField="chillers" width="200" editable="true"> <mx:itemEditor> <mx:Component> <mx:TextInput maxChars="49" /> </mx:Component> </mx:itemEditor> </mx:DataGridColumn> </mx:columns> </mx:DataGrid>

  • modalpopupextender.Show() wont fire

    - by Peter Lea
    I'm pretty new to developing for the web so bare with me. I have a company page with multiple locations and emails etc at each of these addresses. The idea is to have a single modalpopup to edit each type of data (one for email, one for urls, one for addresses etc). I link the modalpopupextender to a hiddenbutton and then call an edit function from various places where I can populate some hiddenfields and textboxes in the panel before showing it. The code executes but it just wont show the damn popup, I just see a flash and can't figure out if its my panel, my css or something I don't understand about ajax and postbacks etc. Things i've tried after reading various threads: Disable smart navigation in web.config Move ToolKitScriptManager up to master page and use proxy in content set hiddenbutton to use style="display:none" tried links etc instead of hidden button Heres my code CSS .modalBackground { position: absolute; z-index: 100; top: 0px; left: 0px; background-color: #000; filter: alpha(opacity=60); -moz-opacity: 0.6; opacity: 0.6; } .modalPopup { background-color: #FFD; border-width: 3px; border-style: solid; border-color: gray; padding: 3px;} Asp/html <ajaxToolkit:ModalPopupExtender runat="server" ID="mpe_email" BackgroundCssClass="modalBackground" PopupControlID="modal_email" CancelControlID="btn_cancel_email" TargetControlID="fake_btn_email" /> <asp:Button ID="fake_btn_email" runat="server" Text="email" style="display:none;" /> <asp:panel id="modal_email" runat="server" class="modalPopup" Width="500px" Height="500px"> <asp:HiddenField ID="hf_modal_email_location_id" runat="server" Value="" /> <asp:HiddenField ID="hf_modal_email_contact_id" runat="server" Value="" /> <asp:HiddenField ID="hf_modal_email_comms_id" runat="server" Value="" /> <table width="100%"> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="lbl_mpe_email_title" runat="server" Text="Edit Email Address" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <table width="100%"> <tr> <td width="40px"><img src="../images/email.png" height="30px" width="30px"/></td> <td> <table width="100px"> <tr> <td><span>Quick Ref: <asp:TextBox ID="txb_mpe_email_qref" runat="server" Text="" /></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span>Email Address: <asp:TextBox ID="txb_mpe_email_address_full" runat="server" Text="" /></span></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="40px" align="left"><asp:Button ID="btn_cancel_email" runat="server" Text="Cancel"/></td> <td align="right"><asp:Button ID="btn_save_email" runat="server" Text="Save" OnCommand="save_modal_email" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="right"><asp:Label ID="lbl_mpe_email_err" runat="server" Text="" /></td> </tr> </table> c# public void oloc_ocon_email_edit(object sender, RepeaterCommandEventArgs e) { switch (e.CommandName) { case "edit": hf_modal_email_location_id.Value = ((HiddenField)e.Item.FindControl("hf_oloc_ocon_emails_location_id")).Value; hf_modal_email_contact_id.Value = ((HiddenField)e.Item.FindControl("hf_oloc_ocon_emails_contact_id")).Value; hf_modal_email_comms_id.Value = ((HiddenField)e.Item.FindControl("hf_oloc_ocon_emails_comms_id")).Value; lbl_mpe_email_title.Text = "Edit Email Address"; txb_mpe_email_qref.Text = ((HiddenField)e.Item.FindControl("hf_oloc_ocon_emails_qref")).Value; txb_mpe_email_address_full.Text = ((HiddenField)e.Item.FindControl("hf_oloc_ocon_emails_email_full")).Value; lbl_mpe_email_err.Text = ""; mpe_email.Show(); break; case "new": hf_modal_email_location_id.Value = ((HiddenField)e.Item.FindControl("hf_oloc_ocon_emails_location_id_p")).Value; hf_modal_email_contact_id.Value = ((HiddenField)e.Item.FindControl("hf_oloc_ocon_emails_contact_id_p")).Value; hf_modal_email_comms_id.Value = "0"; lbl_mpe_email_title.Text = "New Email Address"; txb_mpe_email_qref.Text = ""; txb_mpe_email_address_full.Text = ""; lbl_mpe_email_err.Text = ""; mpe_email.Show(); break; } } Stuff makes so much more sense in a desktop environment, I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks

  • Exchange migration to 2007 making Outlook 2003 unable to read meeting requests

    - by Kvad
    Hi, We are currently moving from Exchange 2003 to 2007 (8.2 build 176.2). We have encounted an issue with one user. In Outlook 2003 when getting a meeting request: "Can't open this item. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are nto valid." The item cannot be previewed in the reading pane either. The item can be viewed in OWA and iPhone fine. I've tried with cache mode off and on. Different computers. Same issue. There are the following entries on the account: SMTP [email protected] [email protected] X400 C=AU;A= ;P=Company Name;O=Exchange;S=LastName;G=FirstName; I'm loathe to recreate the account. This will be an extreme last resort. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • Need help creating advanced context menu command in Windows 7 (x64)

    - by Craig
    I found out about ForceBindIP and I really love it, so much that I am using it regularly enough to where spamming the same command prompt over and over again is getting painful. Here's ForceBindIP and what it does: http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/forcebindip/ I'm on a 64-bit of Windows 7 Home Premium. What I want to do is add a right-click context menu item so that when I browse items in Windows Explorer, or on my desktop, I can automate a ForceBindIP command (through the prompt). I am permanently connected to two networks: one over ethernet, and one over wireless. My ethernet network takes priority. What I want to do is add a "Run through wireless network" context menu item, that will send the item through this command: ForceBindIP {5F657824-9E3B-46E5-C21E-F52585R6457E} "[path to right-clicked file here]" It will need to run that command in C:\Windows\SysWOW64. I've no experience at all playing with the Windows registry or writing batch files, anything of that sort. I was wondering if anyone here would be kind enough to assist me?

  • System halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds

    - by iSam
    I'm using Windows 7 on my HP ProBook 4250s. The problem I face is that my system halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds. These jerks are not letting me concentrate or work properly. This happens even when I'm just typing in notepad while no other application is running. I tried to install every driver from HP's website and there's no item in device manager marked with yellow icon. Following are my system specs: Machine: HP ProBook 4250s OS: Windows 7 professional RAM: 2GB Processor: Intel Core i3 2.27GHz Following is my HijackThis Log: **Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1** Scan saved at 9:34:03 PM, on 11/13/2012 Platform: Unknown Windows (WinNT 6.01.3504) MSIE: Internet Explorer v9.00 (9.00.8112.16450) **Running processes:** C:\Windows\system32\taskhost.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exe C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE C:\Windows\System32\igfxtray.exe C:\Windows\System32\hkcmd.exe C:\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\PowerISO\PWRISOVM.EXE C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\AvastUI.exe C:\Program Files\Free Download Manager\fdm.exe C:\Windows\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE C:\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://bing.com/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {7473b6bd-4691-4744-a82b-7854eb3d70b6} - (no file) O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: Babylon toolbar helper - {2EECD738-5844-4a99-B4B6-146BF802613B} - (no file) O2 - BHO: MrFroggy - {856E12B5-22D7-4E22-9ACA-EA9A008DD65B} - C:\Program Files\Minibar\Froggy.dll O2 - BHO: avast!   • zabbix monitoring mysql database

    - by krisdigitx
    I have a server running multiple instances of mysql and also has the zabbix-agent running. In zabbix_agentd.conf i have specified: UserParameter=multi.mysql[*],mysqladmin --socket=$1 -uzabbixagent extended-status 2>/dev/null | awk '/ $3 /{print $$4}' where $1 is the socket instance. From the zabbix server i can run the test successfully. zabbix_get -s ip_of_server -k multi.mysql[/var/lib/mysql/mysql2.sock] and it returns all the values However the zabbix item/trigger does not generate the graphs, I have created a MACRO for $1 which is the socket location {$MYSQL_SOCKET1} = '/var/lib/mysql/mysql2.sock' and i use this key in items to poll the value multi.mysql[{$MYSQL_SOCKET1},Bytes_sent] LOGS: this is what i get on the logs: 3360:20120214:144716.278 item [multi.mysql['/var/lib/mysql/mysql2.sock',Bytes_received]] error: Special characters '\'"`*?[]{}~$!&;()<>|#@' are not allowed in the parameters 3360:20120214:144716.372 item [multi.mysql['/var/lib/mysql/mysql2.sock',Bytes_sent]] error: Special characters '\'"`*?[]{}~$!&;()<>|#@' are not allowed in the parameters Any ideas where the problem could be? FIXED {$MYSQL_SOCKET1} = /var/lib/mysql/mysql2.sock i removed the single quotes from the line and it worked...
