• navigate all items in a wpf tree view

  I want to be able to traverse the visual ui tree looking for an element with an ID bound to the visual element's Tag property. I'm wondering how i do this. Controls don't have children to traverse. I started using LogicalTreeHelper.GetChildren, which seems to work as intended, up until i hit a TreeView control... then LogicalTreeHelper.GetChildren doesnt return any children. Note: the purpose is to find the visual UI element that corresponds to the data item. That is, given an ID of the item, Go find the UI element displaying it. Edit: I am apparently am not explaining this well enough. I am binding some data objects to a TreeView control and then wanting to select a specific item programaticly given that business object's ID. I dont see why it's so hard to travers the visual tree and find the element i want, as the data object's ID is in the Tag property of the appropriate visual element. I'm using Mole and I am able to find the UI element with the appropriate ID in it's Tag. I just cannot find the visual element in code. LogicalTreeHelper does not traverse any items in the tree. Neither does ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem retrieve anything for items in the tree view.

• Forcing Arrange in a Custom WPF Canvas

  Hello, I'm working on a project that involves creating a custom graphical editor. The graphical editor has multiple tabs, and I want to create a preview function that will show a popup with Bitmap previews of the content of each of the tabs. However, the problem I'm running into is that the content for each of the tabs must be arranged before a proper preview can be generated for it. This means going into each of the tabs to ensure that they're rendered and arranged. Then, and only then, do the previews get properly generated, otherwise the previews have a size of 0x0. Does anybody know how to force an arrange of a content control so that I can get a properly sized preview generated ?

• Bind a WPF combobox and get selecteditem to a richtextbox

  Hi, I am using a dataset on the server, in this dataset I have a datatable that calls a stored procedure and returns column names from three tables. I call this stored procedure using a web service. I manage to show all the column names in my combobox but when I want to click a button and insert selected column name into a richtextbox I get System.Data.DataRowView in the textbox instead.   I have a listbox that is grouping the items with a GroupStyle. I would like add a control at the bottom of the stackpanel that holds all of the groups. This additional control needs to be part of the scrolling content so that the user would scroll to the bottom of the list to see the control. If I were using a listbox without the groups, this task would be easy by modifying the ListBox template. However, with the items grouped, the ListBox template seems to only apply on a per group basis. But when I press the downkey, the scrollviewer scrolls down. Even when I try this, it doesn't work: svBegin.KeyDown += new KeyEventHandler(svBegin_KeyDown); svBegin.KeyDown -= new KeyEventHandler(svBegin_KeyDown); Anybody who knows how to solve this problem?

• WPF : Command routing for Keyboard shortcuts.

  Basically I want to create a keyboard shortcut which is valid within the scope of a window, and not just enabled when focus is within the control that binds it. in more detail.... I have a window which has 3 controls a toolbar textbox Custom Control The toolbar has a button bound to the Command CustomCommands.CmdA and linked to 'Ctrl-T'. My Custom Control can process CmdA. When I run the app and click on my custom control CmdA is enabled and works fine. Also Ctrl-T cause the command to fire. However when I select the text box, my custom command CmdA becomes disabled. I can rectify this by setting the command target for CmdA's button. Now when I select the textBox, CmdA is still enabled. But the Keyboard shortcut Ctrl-T does nothing. Is there any easy way to change the scope of keyboard shortcuts? Or do I need to catch the keypress somewhere lower down, and work out which Command it relates to and route it myself (if so is there a framework within which to do this?) Many Thanks Simon

  Hello Experts! i'm trying to create an application which connects to internet and consume web services for every of it's operation.As far as i'm concerned i'll like to useasync method which i'm using already to get a collection of Contacts.I've realized that when i'm doing the same for groups (meaning getting groups async) i'm having errors in the calls , but when using normal call there ins't.So i did some research online and find that a lot of people has the same problem. • WPF texbox focus when render to offscreen buffer

  i am rendering a textbox to an offscreen buffer using RenderTargetBitmap and i want to enter text into this textbox, however, i can't set the textbox focus (using Focus() has no effect - presumably because the canvas is not attached to a real window?) this has two consequenes: 1 the keyboard input doesn't get captured 2. even if i set the text manually using TextBox text and CaretIndex = index i dont get a caret because of the lack of focus. is there a way to make this focus somehow? and if not, i'd like to at least have the caret visible even if there is no focus, but can't see a way of doing this.

  I need FileSystemWatcher, that can observing same specific paths, and specific extensions. But the paths could by dozens, hundreds or maybe thousand (hope not :P), the same with extensions. The paths and ext are added by user. Creating hundreds of FileSystemWatcher it's not good idea, isn't it? So - how to do it? Is it possible to watch/observing every device (HDDs, SD flash, pendrives, etc.)? Will it be efficient? I don't think so... . Every changing Windows log file, scanning file by antyvirus program - it could realy slow down my program with SystemWatcher :(

• C# Script version of PyBinding for WPF

  I wrote a CSharpScriptBinding roughly equivalent to the PyBinding on CodePlex. It uses the C# script engine from http://www.csscript.net. After I wrote it, I kind of decided it might not really be something good to use. Although it caches the compiled script code as an already compiled Assembly, my concern is that I will have one temporary Assembly created each time I use the binding. Will this add up to a problem in the future? If so, maybe there is a way in the C# script engine that I don't know about to optimize this further...? Any thoughts to confirm my suspicion that this was just a bad idea (but useful excersise in learning more about bindings and converters)?

  I'm using a Collection View Source to group my data. In my data, I have Property1 and Property2 that I'm needing to group on. The only stipulation is that I don't want sub-groups of another group. So, when I group by these two properties, I don't want to have it so that Property2 because a subgroup of Property1's group. • Silverlight/WPF: Retreiving the size of a `UIElement` once it has been rendered on screen

  I have the following simple piece of code: var canvas = new Canvas(); foreach (var ztring in strings) { var textblock = new TextBlock(); textblock.Text = ztring; panel.Children.Add(textblock); textblock.Measure(infiniteSize); } At this point I would expect any of the size properties (Height/Width, ActualHeight/ActualWidth, DesiredSize, RenderSize) to give me the size of the textblock. None of them do. ActualHeight always gives 16.0 no matter what size font. ActualWidth changes according to the text length but not the font size. I change the font size on the parent container and not the TextBlock itself. I feel like I am missing some basic element of understanding the manipulation of silverlight elements from within the codebehind. The question is: how do I get the real actual pixel size of my TextBlock?
