When I try to create a trigger using the following: CREATE TRIGGER t_foldersPrivate BEFORE DELETE ON foldersPrivate FOR EACH ROW BEGIN DELETE FROM programs WHERE folderType = '0' AND folderID = OLD.ID; END; I receive the following error: `1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3` (mysql 5.1.37) If I get rid fo the delete statement the create trigger statement works fine. • How do you check individual SqlCommands ran during a SqlTransactions to see if they will run?

  I've been reading up on SqlTransactions and have found a great load of examples like: http://www.devhood.com/tutorials/tutorial_details.aspx?tutorial_id=451 The problem is, when I do a BeginTransaction() (Execute all the commands) and then Commit() at the end all the commands I execute get run and the ones with syntax errors or other errors just get skipped. This is where I would also like to run a roll back, not skip over them. I found a few articles on the subject but they were not very helpful and purely in SQL. Is there any way to find out if one of the ExecuteNonQuery()'s failed before the commit and not just skipped? Thanks.

• MySQL Import Database Error because of Extended Inserts

  Hello all, I'm importing a 400MB(uncompressed) MySQL database. I'm using BIGDUMP, and I am getting this error: Stopped at the line 387. At this place the current query includes more than 300 dump lines. That can happen if your dump file was created by some tool which doesn't place a semicolon followed by a linebreak at the end of each query, or if your dump contains extended inserts. Please read the BigDump FAQs for more infos. I believe the file does contain Extended Inserts, however I have no way to regenerate the database as it has been deleted from the old server. How can I import this database or convert it to be imported? Thanks for any help. Best Nick EDIT: It appears the only viable answer is to separate the extended inserts, but I still need help figuring out how to split the file as the answer below suggests. Please help. Thank you.

For example a given piece of work might need say 1/3 of the sprint to design the object model around an existing implementation. Under this scenario you might well end up with implemented code, say half way through the sprint, without any tests (implementing unit tests during this "design" stage would add significant effort and the tests would likely be thrown away a few times until the final "design" is settled upon). You might then spend a day or two in the second week adding in unit / integration tests after the fact. Is this acceptable?

  Upon the uploading of an image in my application, 4 different sizes are created and saved using CarrierWaves version functionality. However, I am converting all of these versions to JPEG. The source file that is uploaded remains unchanged. So I can upload a TIFF file, and CarrierWave will create :large, :medium, :small, and :thumb versions. My problem is that these files all still end in .tif. Yet they are indeed JPEG files, as I've verified this with the file command. How can I write the filenames correctly for each version, and ensure that CarrierWave will report each version's name correctly?

• Querying my JPA provider (Hibernate) for a collection of <Id,Name> of an entity

  Hi, I have an entity which looks something like this: Id (PK) Name Other business properties and associations... I have the need for my DAL (JPA with hibernate as provider) to return a list of the entities which correlate to some constraints (or just return them all) but instead of returning the entities themselves I'd like to receive only the Id and the Name properties. I know this can be achieved with HQL/SQL (something like: select id,name from entity where...) but I don't want to go down that road. I was thinking of somehow defining the pair a compositioned part of the entity and thought that might help me but I'm not sure that's "legal" as the Id is the PK. The logic for this scenario is to have a textbox which asynchronously queries the web-service (and through it the DAL) for the relevant entities and once an entity is selected then it is loaded as a whole and shipped to the front-end. • How to change the pop-up position of the jQuery DatePicker control

  Any idea how to get the DatePicker to appear at the end of the associated text box instead of directly below it? What tends to happen is that the text box is towards the bottom of the page and the DatePicker shifts up to account for it and totally covers the text box. If the user wants to type the date instead of pick it, they can't. I'd rather have it appear just after the text box so it doesn't matter how it adjusts vertically. Any idea how to control the positioning? I didn't see any settings for the widget, and I haven't had any luck tweaking the CSS settings, but I could easily be missing something.

However my problem is, SQL Express deployment is not easy and the installer size is huge. This is a major drawback for someone looking to try our product.You dont want end users to not buy a product becos the download is huge. Does anyone have any recommendations of a database that has a smaller footprint but all the features of Express and which can be migrated to express?

• web page db query optimisation

  I am putting together a web page which is quite 'expensive' in terms of Db hits. I dont want to start optimizing at this stage - though with me trying to hit a deadline, I may end up not optimising at all. Currently the page requires 18 (thats right eighteen) hits to the db. I am already using joins, and some of the queries are UNIONed to minimize the trips to the db. My local dev machine can handle this (page is not slow) however, I feel if I release this into the wild, the number of queries will quickly overwhelm my database (mySQL). I could always use memcache or something similar, but I would much rather continue with my other dev work that needs to be completed before the deadline - at least retrieving the page work, its simply a matter of optimization. My question therefore is - is 18 db queries for a single page retrieval completely outrageous - (i.e. I should put everything on hold and optimize the hell of the retrieval logic), or shall I continue as normal, meet the deadline and release on schedule and see what happens?

  I have a grouped UITableView with a custom UITableViewCell class and I am adding a custom background image to each cell. However, when I do this, the cell's separator is not visible. If simply switch the table style to Plain instead of Grouped, the separator is showing up. I need the grouped table - how do I make the separator show up?   I'm learning c++0x, at least the parts supported by the Visual C++ Express 2010 Beta. This is a question about style rather than how it works. Perhaps it's too early for style and good practice to have evolved yet for a standard that isn't even released yet... In c++0x you can define the return type of a method using - type at the end of the function instead of putting the type at the start. I believe this change in syntax is required due to lambdas and some use cases of the new decltype keyword, but you can use it anywhere as far as I know. // Old style int add1(int a, int b) { return a + b; } // New style return type auto add2(int a, int b) -> int { return a + b; } My question really then, is given that some functions will need to be defined in the new way is it considered good style to define all functions in this way for consistency? Or should I stick to only using it when necessary?
