• From .NET to Delphi, an ERP on Delphi

  I have learned programming on .NET. It's been 4 years since I have started (serious) programming, I gained experience in VBA, JavaScript but mainly C#. I have spent a lot of time trying to grasp the good coding practices, object orientation etc. Now finally I have a job. The job is fixing/upgrading an ERP on a daily basis. Creating reports and maybe sometimes new stuff. I have absolutely no experience in Delphi, and no motivation to learn it especially when people are moving to .NEt from Delphi not in the reverse direction sa my manager expects :) The question is that are there any tools that I write C# code and compile into this object pascal or whatever it is. • Pull image of rendered HTML from a specific browser

  I am working on an app that will be able to pull an image of rendered HTML from a specific browser. I would like the user to be able to select a specific browser to render an HTML file in, and capture the rendered output in an image file. I am starting with IE8, and I'm not sure where to begin to get the actual rendered output. I can easily open the file in that browser with Process.Start(), but I don't know how to return the rendered output. I have looked a little bit at sinking events, but I don't understand how that works or if that's the right way to go. I would just like some direction, and perhaps some resources to send me on the right path.

• Converting "fr_FR" into "French (France)" in both directions. (Objective-C iPhone)

  I can easily change a short region-code (en_US) into a longer string... but it there an easy way to also move in the other direction? [displayInEnglish displayNameForKey:NSLocaleIdentifier value:regionCountryCode]; "en_US" becomes "English (United States)". "English (United States)" becomes "en_US". I currently store the short region-code in a database.... but when I show some aggregate results... I need to display the longer strings to the user. Or should I just store the longer strings right in the database... and not even worry about "converting" them later? I'm trying to show a "dollars total" for each country. If you were a user... which would you more likely wish to see (for a currency-total list)? A "French" total A "France" total A "French (France)" total A "fr_Fr" total?

• Where to learn about HTTP?

  I am fluent in HTML and PHP and slowly learning JavaScript however I have noticed that there is a huge hole in my knowledge when it comes to understanding how web software communications actually work. I understand the flow of information across the net however I would like to learn about HTTP protocols to better understand how the data is actually sent back and forth through the internet to help me understand things like REST, HTTP Headers, AJAX requests, etc. However, I must be searching the wrong terms because I haven't been able to find a good description of HTTP protocols. Any help is appreciated to point me in the right direction. Thanks!

• Newbie question: Creating a custom control

  Hi, I have an ASP.Net site, in which I am using a ListView with a Datapager. Apparently there is a bug with the Datapager, where it crashes if there is an empty ampersand (&) in the querystring. This is a known issue: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=357344&wa=wsignin1.0#tabs I see that there is a workaround given, but did not understand how to implement it. • Source Lookup Path is correct but debugger can't find file (Eclipse EE IDE)?

  When debugging stepping over each line does work. Stepping into a function located in another file debugger displays: Source not found. Also displays option for Edit Source Lookup Path... but the correct package is listed there. (Also tried pointing with the directory path.) No other breakpoints set, as is a common solution. • Calculating the union of 2 longitudal intervals (that may wrap around 180 degrees)

  The story: I have a LatLongBounds class that represents an area on the surface of the earth by a latitudinal interval (bounded by north & south - not important to this question) and a longitudinal interval (bounded by east and west; both normalized to a range [-180, 180] - negative being a westerly direction). In order to be able to represent an area that straddles the 180 degree meridian the value of west may be set to be greater than east (eg. the range west = 170, east = -170 will straddle said meridian). In effect the longitudinal interval may wrap around at 180 degrees (or equivalently -180 degrees). My Question: Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can calculate the union of two longitudinal intervals that may wrap around at 180 degrees. Thanks.

• Want to build simple SQL admin interface to change a few values in a table.

  i am currently building a system in MSSQL 2K5. i have a table that holds information about certain insurance schemes such as overheads and other things. these values will change occasionally and currently i administer the database straight through the management Studio. i would like to build a simple interface that will allow my colleagues to change these values by selecting the company in a dropdown and the current values will populate. they can then edit these values and submit them to the database. is this possible in the current Visual Studio supplied with MSSQL server 2K5 or do i need to get another product. i am confident that with the help of stack overflow and google i can build this myself, but i need pointed in the right direction as to which environment would be easiest and best to start building it. • Using a RegEx in a SQL Query

  Hey Everyone, Here's the situation I'm in: We have a field in our database that contains a 3 digit number, surrounded by some text. This number is actually a PK in another table, and I need to extract this out so I can implement a proper FK relationship. Here's an example of what would currently reside in the column: Some Text Goes Here - (305) Followed By Some More Text So, what I'm looking to do is extract the '305' from the column, and hopefully end up with a result that looks something like this (pseudo code) SELECT <My Extracted Value>, Original Column Text, Id FROM dbo.MyTable It seems to me that using a Regex match in my query is the most effective way to do this. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

• How to: Save order of tabs when customizing tabs in UITabBarController

  I am having problems finding any other information than the docs for how to save the tab order for my UITabBarController, so that the user's customization is saved for next app launch. I have searched online, but have been unable to find any blog posts or articles that goes through the proper code for doing this. I realize I have to use the delegate methods for the UITabBarController (didEndCustomizingViewControllers:) but I am not sure how I best approach persistance in terms of saving the state of the order the user wants the tabs in. Can someone post some code, point me in the right direction or perhaps you have a link for something saved? :) Thanks

• Display arabic text left to right in pdf using apache fop 0.95

  Hi all. We are generating pdf using apache's xsl fo engine, namely fop 0.95. We have been successful in displaying arabic text from xml to pdf. But there is some problem in the direction of the displayed words. If we have 'sangam' (please assume that 'sangam' is in arabic) in xml, it gets displayed as 'magnas'. Has anyone encountered this before? What could be the solution? For example, I have one node in xml file like this: <empltmoblab>??????</empltmoblab> Now when displayed in pdf, this is displayed like this: ?????? This means I am getting just the reverse. I want it as it is in xml node. Thank you.

  So i need some directions. I want to understand Cloud Software as a Service(SaaS) practical initialization. The thing is I want to create a simple cloud service which would let me run programs on this cloud from remote machine. As I understand, I need some kind of specific backbone project to start this system, similar like OpenStack or Apache Cloud for Infostructure as a Service. Of course it may be that I understand it completely wrong and even if there is such project, it is not open source, free. I could also comprehend SaaS building on IaaS, but the thing is, I can't find any practical information at all. Could Somebody indulge me if there is any kind of free licence SaaS project or recommend a related articles or explain everything in a nut case with atleast vague direction.

  I'd like to measure the performance of some code blocks in my c# winforms application. In particular I want to measure performance regression/improvement after some restructuring of the code. So long I've seen the System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch. However, I want to avoid writing measuring code into my classes, I would rather prefer to separate measuring from actual code. As for debugging, you can set breakpoints on several code lines and "jump" from one to the next by "Continue Execution", I imagine something similar for measuring: Mark to lines of code and make Visual Studio display the time elapsing from one to the next. Is there any feature/add-in in that direction?

• Generating Source Info For Flex BitmapData.

  Instead of populating the BitmapData class from an IMAGE. I would like to (within Actionscript) GENERATE some new BitmapData by capturing the Bitmap representing say, a TextArea component on the stage. In other words, sort of take a "screen capture" or "screenshot" of one of the components, and convert that into an image. Am I silly to even wonder if such a thing is feasible? Can an Air/Flex app "look at itself" in this way? Can it turn a datagrid or a canvas or a textinput into the corresponding image AS IF via screen capture? Even a hint in the right direction would be appreciated, Thanks In Advance.

• What are the typical reasons Javascript developed on Firefox fails on IE?

  I developed some javascript enhanced pages that run fine on recent Firefox and Safari. I missed to check in Internet Explorer, and now I find the pages don't work on IE 6 and 7 (so far). The scripts are somehow not executed, the pages show as if javascript wasn't there, although some javascript is executed. I am using own libraries with dom manipulation, from YUI 2 I use YUI-Loader and the XML-Http-Request, and on one page I use "psupload", which depends on JQuery. I am installing Microsoft Script Editor from Office XP and will now debug. I will also write specific tests now. What are the typical failing points of IE? What direction I can keep my eyes open. • HTML element to use as a Javascript message display

  I have a message display field on my website that I'd like to change the value of via JS. I've been using just a textfield, disabling it, and modifying the value via a JS function (after using a little CSS to make it not look like a text field): <input type="text" id="message" style="background: white; color: black" size="50" disabled> There has to be a better way (for instance, formatting is tricky whenever the message runs over the specified size), but I can't think of it off the top of my head.   I am creating a SharePoint solution project that will install the Telerik dll files into the GAC and write the appropriate lines into the webconfig upon feature activation. My question is, is there a way to get the product key token, version, and culture info of a dll programatically. I have used the System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly() before to get the embedded resources, such as a javascript file, and add it to the appropriate folder. Would this be the same way to get the dll file, and if so what would I do to get the assembly info of an embedded assembly? Thanks for any direction.

• How to verify a digital signature with openssl

  I'm using a thirdparty credit card processing service (Paybox) that, after a successful transaction, redirects back to the website with a signature in the URL as a security measure to prevent people from manipulating data. It's supposed to prove that the request originated from this service. So my success URL looks something like this: /success.php?signature=[HUGE HASH] I have no idea where to start with verifying this signature. This service does provide a public key, and I assume I need to create a private key, but I don't know much beyond that. I'm pretty good with linux, and I know I'll have to run some openssl commands. I'm writing the verification script in PHP, which also has native openssl() functions. If anyone could please push me in the right direction with some pseudo code, or even functional code, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

SendARP works great - until you cross a network segment as Arp requests aren't routed.   Hi, I'm looking for a simple bookmarklet to take the current URL of my website and refresh it with a couple of changes. For example: Take the current page: http://www.example.com/pages/ and change it to: https: //admin.example.com/pages/ * then load that new URL. *(I added an extra space after https:// because I'm a new user so can't have more than one link in my question) I tried searching for a bookmarklet that can do this but I couldn't find one.
