• WPF DataGridTextColumn Can't type point for float data

  I had a WPF DataGrid and use DataGridTextColumn Binding to a Collection. The items in Collection had some float property. When my program launched, I modify the value of float property in DataGrid, if I type a integer value, it works well. But if I type char . for a float value, char . can't be typed. I had to type all the numbers first, and then jump to the . position to type char . to finish my input. So how can I type . in my situation? Thanks.

• Threading Issue with WCF Service

  I'm new to both WCF and threading, so please bear with me. I have a WCF service set up. The service has multiple threads, all of which act upon a single array. This works without a problem so far. However, this service has a method, which, when called, will return the array. My questions: The array is serialized when it is transferred to the client by WCF. Is this a thread safe operation? In other words, can I count on WCF to block all threads from accessing this array while it's being serialized? If I can't count on WCF to do this, then how can I implement it manually? I don't really understand how WCF would facilitate this since the serialization happens after I return from my method call. How can I guarantee a thread will not modify the array after it's been returned by my method but before WCF serializes it?

• Using Objective-C blocks with old compiler

  I'm using the opensource iPhone toolchain on Linux for developing for jailbroken iPhones. I'd like to take advantage of the new (4.0, 5.0) iOS SDK features, but I can't as my old build of GCC doesn't understand the ^ block syntax. I noticed that blocks are just of type id (struct objc_object *). I know this from two resources: first, class-dump reports them as id, second, Apple docs clarify that "blocks can be retained". My quiestion is, how can I take advantage of blocks using this knowledge? I thought of something like: // this is in SDK 4.x/5.x - (void) doSomethingWithBlock:((int)(^block)(int)); // and I modify it like: - (void) doSomethingWithBlock(id)block; the question is: HOW TO ACTUALLY CALL IT? How do I create blocks? I can, of course, create function pointers (IMPs in particular), but how to achieve the object-like memory layout?

• WiX - Modifying an existing service to be dependent on the service I am installing

  Hi all, Using Wix3, its trivial to ensure that a windows service being installed is given a dependency on a service that is already installed on the target machine, but I need to do the opposite - i.e. as part of my install I need to modify the service dependencies of an existing service (i.e. already installed on the target machine), to ensure that that service is dependent on the service I am installing. Is there a simple way to do this using WiX? or will I need to write a custom action? Many thanks, Paul

  Hi, I have converted an Entity framework project to use POCO objects by removing the entity data model and the domain service and meta data classes. My silverlight project works as it is showing a datagrid of Employee objects. I have not added a DataForm and when I modify the "name" property of one of my Employee objects, I get the error: This EntitySet of type 'TestEmployeesApp.Web.Employee' does not support the 'Edit' operation. The error occurs on validatingProperty() on the class Entity on the client side. I checked the metadata on the server side, and all my properties have the attribute Editable(true). I am using Silverlight 3 with VS2008. JD

• Sparse matrices / arrays in Java

  I'm working on a project, written in Java, which requires that I build a very large 2-D sparse array. Very sparse, if that makes a difference. Anyway: the most crucial aspect for this application is efficency in terms of time (assume loads of memory, though not nearly so unlimited as to allow me to use a standard 2-D array -- the key range is in the billions in both dimensions). Out of the kajillion cells in the array, there will be several hundred thousand cells which contain an object. I need to be able to modify cell contents VERY quickly. Anyway: Does anyone know a particularly good library for this purpose? It would have to be Berkeley, LGPL or similar license (no GPL, as the product can't be entirely open-sourced). Or if there's just a very simple way to make a homebrew sparse array object, that'd be fine too. I'm considering MTJ, but haven't heard any opinions on its quality. Thanks!! -Dan

• Javascript: Looking for a script that will allow me to scroll content sideways

  Hi All, I'm trying to find some javascript code that I can embed on my website that will allow me to scroll content from left to right or right to left. This script here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex11/scrollc2.htm Has the basic functionality that I am looking for, but it scrolls content from top to bottom. I want to be able to scroll my content sideways and have it scroll when I hover over some arrows just like the above mentioned script does. Does anyone know of anything that will work for me? • How can I ensure that when I shuffle my puzzle I still end up with an even permutation?

  I'm interested making an implementation of the 14-15 puzzle: I'm creating an array with the values 0 - 15 in increasing order: S = { 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 } Now, what I want to do is shuffle them to create a new instance of the puzzle. However, I know that if I create a board with an "odd permutation" than it is unsolvable. Wikipedia says I need to create the puzzle with an even permutation. I believe this means that I simply have to do ensure I do an even number of swaps? How would I modify Fisher-Yates so I ensure I end up with an even permutation at the end? If I do a swap for every element in the array that would be 16 swaps which I believe would be an even permutation. However, do I need to be concerned about swapping with itself? Is there any other way to ensure I have a valid puzzle?

  Hello, In my GWT app I have the following model class: import com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.IsSerializable; public class TestEntity implements IsSerializable { public String testString; } This class implements the GWT custom IsSerializable marker interface - which I really don't like, because I use my model classes not only for GWT. So I prefer java.io.Serializable. But if I modify the class to implement Serializable instead of IsSerializable, the GWT RPC mechanism doesn't work anymore. I don't get an error on the server side, but on the client AsyncCallback.onFailure is invoked. I am using... GWT 1.7.0. Spring 2.5.6.SEC01 Spring and GWT are configured as described here.

• How can I locate the indexpath of the UITableviewCell a certain button is in when I click that butto

  I've added a button as an accessory view to uitableviewcell, and I when I press it, I'd like to be able to access the index path of the table view cell it's currently inside of so I can delete/modify the contents of that cell. Should I subclass UIbutton and add make it have it's own index path property? If so, do I need to implement any specific button methods in that subclass of will they automatically be loaded? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is a noobie question.

• What documentation is helpful when supporting an application?

  I am going to be taking over from a developer here at work soon. Hence, I'll be supporting all the applications that he has written over the last few years. My question is, when supporting an application that you probably don't know much about, what kind of documentation is most helpful to get a handle on how to fix problems, extend functionality, modify functionality, etc? I'm thinking it would need to give you an overview of what the software does, what interfaces it has to other software, what databases it uses, usernames, passwords, and so on. Is there such a thing as a software support document? Referrals to any templates would be most helpful. BTW, unfortunately, there are no requirements documents, specs, etc! So, really my question is, if my colleague had a day to write a single document for each application so that I could (more easily) support it, what would that document be and/or what would it look like?

  Hi everybody, I've got a list of dict in Python: dico_cfg = {'name': entry_name, 'ip': entry_ip, 'vendor': combo_vendor, 'stream': combo_stream} self.list_cfg.append(dico_cfg) I append to my list a lot of dict in the same way. Now I would like to delete one dict and only one dict in this list? What is the best way to proceed? I've try with the index of the list, but when I remove a dict from the list, the index is modify, so after some random remove my index doesn't correspond anymore to the dict I want to remove in my list. I hope that is clear. Maybe I can add an "id" row in my dict, so I can ask to remove more preciously the dict I want. I'll ask to remove the dict where id is equal to the id's dict I want to remove. How can I do that? I hope I'm enough clear. Sorry but I'm a newbie in Python.

  I recently wrote a script which queries PyPI and downloads a package; however, the package gets downloaded to a user defined folder. I`d like to modify the script in such a way that my downloaded files go into a temporary folder, if the folder is not specified. The temporary-files folder in *nix machines is "/tmp" ; would there be any Python method I could use to find out the temporary-files folder in a particular machine? If not, could someone suggest an alternative to this problem?

  We're using xVal and the standard DataAnnotationsValidationRunner described here to collect validation errors from our domain objects and view models in ASP.NET MVC. I'd like to have a way to have that validation runner identify when two properties don't match through the use of custom DataAnnotations. Right now I'm forced into doing it outside of the runner, this way: if (!(model.FieldOne == model.FieldTwo)) errors.Add(new ErrorInfo("FieldTwo", "FieldOne must match FieldTwo", model.FieldTwo)); My question is: can this be done using property-level validation attributes, or am I forced into using class-level attributes (in which case, I'd have to modify the runner...and my follow up question would be how best to retrieve them in that case).   Is there any reason to expose an internal collection as a ReadOnlyCollection rather than an IEnumerable if the calling code only iterates over the collection? class Bar { private ICollection<Foo> foos; // Which one is to be preferred? public IEnumerable<Foo> Foos { ... } public ReadOnlyCollection<Foo> Foos { ... } } // Calling code: foreach (var f in bar.Foos) DoSomething(f); As I see it IEnumerable is a subset of the interface of ReadOnlyCollection and it does not allow the user to modify the collection. So if the IEnumberable interface is enough then that is the one to use. Is that a proper way of reasoning about it or am I missing something? Thanks /Erik

  I am trying to start working with excel documents through the OpenXML SDK Spreadsheet API. But I havent found any good guides or even examples on how to create a xlsx file from scratch. Only how to open an existing document and modify it. I have been thinking on having a empty template document and make a copy of it an then begin my proccessing on it. But it doesent feel right. It might be easier but I not comfortable using a technique I dont feel that I understand "pretty" good atleast. • Python class design - Splitting up big classes into multiple ones to group functionality

  OK I've got 2 really big classes 1k lines each that I currently have split up into multiple ones. They then get recombined using multiple inheritance. Now I'm wondering, if there is any cleaner/better more pythonic way of doing this. Completely factoring them out would result in endless amounts of self.otherself.do_something calls, which I don't think is the way it should be done. To make things clear here's what it currently looks like: from gui_events import GUIEvents # event handlers from gui_helpers import GUIHelpers # helper methods that don't directly modify the GUI # GUI.py class GUI(gtk.Window, GUIEvents, GUIHelpers): # general stuff here stuff here One problem that is result of this is Pylint complaining giving me trillions of "init not called" / "undefined attribute" / "attribute accessed before definition" warnings.

  With this question I am mostly looking for answers from people that have implemented the out-of-the-box ASP.NET membership in their own database - I've set up the tables inside my database and as far as I can see they contain mostly what I need but not everything. I will have the notion of a Firm (Company) to which Users will belong so I will have to associate the aspnet_Users with my Firms table (each user will be a member of exactly one firm). If possible, provide some guidelines how did you do it and what I might run into if I have to modify the table design at some point in the future. Preferably I will be using the default Membership provider. I am having trouble to decide whether to go from scratch or use what ASP.NET already offers.

• Combining a one-to-one relationship into one object in Fluent NHibernate

  I have a one-to-one relationship in my database, and I'd like to just combine that into one object in Fluent NHibernate. The specific tables I am talking about are the aspnet_Users and aspnet_Membership tables from the default ASP.NET Membership implementation. I'd like to combine those into one simple User object and only get the fields I want. I would also like to make this read-only, as I want to use the built-in ASP.NET Membership API to modify. • Are there any FreeRTOS interpreted language libraries available?

  I work for a company that created firmware for several device using FreeRTOS. Lately our request for new features has surpassed how much work our firmware engineers are capable of, but we can't afford to hire anyone new right now either. Making even tiny changes requires firmware people to go in and modify things at a very low level. I've been looking for some sort of interpreted language project for FreeRTOS that would let us implement new features at a higher level. Ideally I would like to get things eventually so the devices become closer to generic computers with us writing drivers, rather than us having to implement every feature ourselves. Are there any FreeRTOS projects that interpret java, python or similar bytecode? I've looked on google, but since I'm not a firmware engineer myself I'm not sure if I'm looking for the right keywords. Thanks everyone
