• PowerBuilder IDE Customization for SCC

  Our PowerBuilder application is fairly large and has many objects in several PBLs for organizing our code. We often have 10 or more datawindows on one window, and these datawindows may be spread across two or three PBLs. For version control, we use exclusive check-out to avoid merge conflicts. The situation is that when you right-click on a datawindow object from the Window painter you get a context-menu with options like "Script" and "Properties" and "Modify Datawindow...". We'd like to add one for "Check-out..." to avoid having to hunt for the datawindow in several PBLs. Any ideas on how to do this, or something similar, would be greatly appreciated.

A little background: I use PowerShell on windows xp at work and I set a bunch of useful shortcuts in Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 in My Documents, trying to emulate Mac environment inspired by Ryan Bates's shortcuts I have things like: Set-Alias rsc Rails-Console function Rails-Console {Invoke-Expression "ruby script/console"} Which works just fine when in command prompt I say: rsc #it calls the proper command However this doesn't work properly Set-Alias rsg Rails-Generate function Rails-Generate {Invoke-Expression "ruby script/generate"} So when I do : rsg model User which is supposed to call ruby script/generate model User all it calls is ruby script/generate #Dumping my params So how would I properly modify my functions to take params I send to functions? • Determine if getPixel() value is greater than or less than 50% gray

  I am trying to loop through a bitmap and determine if each pixel is lighter or darker than gray using getPixel(). Problem is, I am not sure how to tell whether the value returned by getPixel() is darker or lighter than gray. Neutral gray is about 0x808080 or R:127, G:127, B:127.   I just started a coding related wordpress bog to basicly discuss topics and store code snippets in. I installed a code syntax highlighter plugin which is very nice but I am having a problem. I just tried posting my first code related blog post and wordpress seems to only post some of my code and then it makes some of it not show, like it filters some of it out even though I am wrapping it in tags like this.. <pre class="brush:php"> <?PHP my code ?> </pre> Some of my code works and some gets filtered out somehow. I know this is possible as many wordpress coding sites show source code. Do I need to modify something to make it work in wordpress? UPDATE I have confirmed that it does save ALL my code into the database it just filters it out when it try to print to screen, so when I go in to edit the post and textbox populates with ALL the source code intact

  I have an ExpressionEngine site at http://example.com and a WordPress blog at http://example.com/blog ...the problem is, any WP pages that don't map directly to an index.php end up being handled by ExpressionEngine, which results in a 404. For example, http://example.com/blog and http://example.com/blog/wp-admin both work fine as they both directly use an index.php in those folders, but http://example.com/blog/category/tag/something gets handled by ExpressionEngine. So how can I modify the ExpressionEngine .htaccess file to tell it to ignore anything in the /blog directory? • ASP.Net Application Trust Medium File IO Outside Virtual Directory

  I am trying to determine how suicidal this is... I have a hosting environment where a custom ASP.Net CMS application needs to access the files in the root folder of a website even though it is in a virtual folder so it can be shared accross many sites. I can modify the Medium trust on the server and came up with this... <IPermission class="FileIOPermission" version="1" Read="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." Write="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." Append="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." PathDiscovery="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.."/> Oddly enough, it works. Yes, I understand it is doing this for all the Apps. I am a bit at a loss as to easy ways to test what else is being exposed. Feels dangerous. Opinions?

  I can't get Tortoisehg (1.0) to work with subrepos I have a directory structure like this: root .hg .hgsub .hgsubstate Customer1 Project1 .hg foo.txt Project2 .hg Customer2 Project3 .hg the .hgsub file under root looks like Customer1\Project1=Customer1\Project1 Customer1\Project2=Customer1\Project2 Customer2\Project3=Customer2\Project3 If modify the file Customer1\Project1\foo.txt and commit from the root it works >hg ci -m "command line commit" committing subrepository customer1\project1 in Tortoisehg customer1\project1 is displayed with status S (subrepo) but when commiting I get a message abort: customer1/project1: no match under directory! Is this scenario not supported or am I doing something wrong? The doc says: "TortoiseHg 1.0 introduced rudimentary support for subrepositories, and only in the commit / status tool. When Mercurial considers a subrepo as dirty, it will appear in the commit tool as a special entry in the file list with a status of S. If a subrepo is included in the file list of a commit, the subrepo is committed along with the other changes, updating the .hgsubstate file in the main repository root."

I double click it and VS will open it with kind of design diagram. I can create/delete/modify table here? I can use add new item to add the Linq to SQL Classes to get a dbml file? what's next? generate tables in database? generate sql script? generate cs files? when? how?

• Career advice: I am best at what I hate most

  I think my career has entered a vicious circle which I would like to exit: I am best at what I hate most. And because I am good at that, I always receive that kind of assignments, and I do them as expected or even better. Which makes me more of an expert and brings me more similar tasks. My "expertise" is what (I think) every programmer hates: legacy systems. I can very quickly learn systems, and modify them, migrate them, extract web services from them whatever (without breaking them). Never to develop more functionality or to solve interesting or original problems. Just have that work with Java 1.4, or convert it into a rest-full service or support oracle too. I feel (and I am told) that I am highly regarded and very helpful to my company. But I hate what I do. What would you do in my place?

  I'm working on a homework assignment to modify code given by my professor using LightWeight Java Game Library. The problem is that I can't fully load the test code to begin testing modifications. I've linked against the jar file as it says to in the modifications, but I still have one lingering error. • Redirect batch stderr to file

  I have a batch file that executes a java application. I'm trying to modify it so that whenever an exception occurs, it'll write the STDERR out to a file. It looks something like this: start java something.jar method %1 %2 2>> log.txt Is there a way I can write the arguments %1 and %2 to the log.txt file as well? I don't want to write it to the log file everytime this batch file gets called, only when an exception occurs. I tried searching for a way to redirect STDERR into a variable, but I couldn't figure it out. Ideally I'd like the log file to look something like: Batch file called with parameters: - "first arg" - "second arg" Exception: java.io.exception etc... ------------------------------------ Batch file called with parameters: - "first arg" - "second arg" Exception: java.io.exception etc...

• Django auth without "auth_*" tables

  We would like to use our own tables for user management instead of the Django "auth" tables. We already have database tables that include all of the relevant information our application needs but it isn't in the Django format. We would prefer not to have the information duplicated in two tables. We would like to utilize the auth package, though, as there is some very nice functionality that we don't want to replicate. I realize we could build our own auth backend, but that doesn't, as far as I can tell, remove the need for two sets of tables in this case. Am I correct in assuming that we cannot do this? I have found no docs that discuss how to modify the underlying model that the auth package is using. The backend simply pre-populates the user object that would eventually be saved in the auth tables. Thanks!

These Restrictions are used in several places/queries so a method was setup similar to public Criteria addStandardCriteria(Criteria criteria, ...) { // Add restrictions, create aliases based on parameters // and other non-trivial logic criteria.add(...); return criteria; } This has worked fine so far, but now this standard criteria needs to be added to a subquery using DetachedCriteria. Is there a way to modify this method to accept Criteria or DetachedCriteria or a Better way to add restrictions?

  Hi, I have a website and my users can browse the website for general information. If user wants to post any data, they need to register in the website. At the time of registration (in registration form) they can upload their photo. Once registration process is completed they can even modify the previously uploaded photo. My users are facing problem while they uploading their photo at the time of registration. I have given write permission to uploading files folder. But it is giving "Access denied" error. There should be a provision to upload files with or without logging into application. How can we achieve this?

• Pass by reference in Boost::Python

  Hi everybody. Consider something like: struct Parameter { int a; Parameter(){a = 0} void setA(int newA){a = newA;} }; struct MyClass { void changeParameter(Parameter &p){ p.setA(-1);} }; Well, let's fast forward, and imagine I already wrapped those classes, exposing everything to python, and imagine also I instantiate an object of Parameter in the C++ code, which I pass to the python script, and that python script uses a MyClass object to modify the instance of Parameter I created at the beginning in the C++ code. After that code executes, in C++ Parameter instance is unchanged!!! This means it was passed by value (or something alike :S), not by reference. But I thought I declared it to be passed by reference... I can't seem to find Boost::Python documentation about passing by reference (although there seems to be enough doc about returning by reference...). Can anyone give some hint or pointer please?

  I'm customising Dynamics CRM 4 and would like to modify the Form for the Case entity to add some JavaScript to the onchange event for the Knowledge Base Article lookup field (kbarticleid_ledit). However, when I click Change Properties for that field I get an error message: This field belongs to a locked section and cannot have its properties modified. How can I get around this and edit it? Is there a workaround similar to customizing the Article view? Or can I hack the DB somehow to "unlock" that field?

I used NetBeans to create the resources of RESTful service with MySQL, and now I can now using GET and POST/PUT to list and add/modify data entities in the MySQL server. Currently, I wish to make some calculations right after a client makes the POST activities, then the posted data with calculated results will be inserted into the MySQL database. • Determining your websites color scheme

  One of the biggest issues I have, from a UI standpoint, when building a new website is figuring out what colors I will use and of those colors, do they actually work well together. I found this site that has really helped me out and I figured I would share it with all of you and also get some responses back about either sites similar or other ways that you get/figure out your color schemes. Here is the site that I currently use: http://kuler.adobe.com/ With Adobe Kuler, you can chose a base color and it will suggest 5 colors, including your color, that go well with one another. You can, of course, modify the colors it chooses. Also,one of the main features I use, is the image color matching. You can upload an image and it will determine a color scheme based on the colors of the image. So if you have a logo and want to use the colors of the logo, then this works perfectly for you. • How can I use the Fisher-Yates shuffle while ensuring my permutation is even?

  I'm interested making an implementation of the 14-15 puzzle: I'm creating an array with the values 0 - 15 in increasing order: S = { 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 } Now, what I want to do is shuffle them to create a new instance of the puzzle. However, I know that if I create a board with an "odd permutation" than it is unsolvable. Wikipedia says I need to create the puzzle with an even permutation. I believe this means that I simply have to do ensure I do an even number of swaps? How would I modify Fisher-Yates so I ensure I end up with an even permutation at the end? If I do a swap for every element in the array that would be 16 swaps which I believe would be an even permutation. However, do I need to be concerned about swapping with itself? Is there any other way to ensure I have a valid puzzle?

  Bazaar has a Launchpad pseudo-protocol (lp:) that able the user to operate in remote branchs without write full Launchpad location, I'm searching a way to create my own pseudo-protocols in a way like this (similar to GIT): bzr remote my sftp://[email protected]/home/myuser/myrepo/ bzr push my:mybranch bzr push my:otherbranch bzr push my:anotherbranch ...instead of... bzr push sftp://[email protected]/home/myuser/myrepo/mybranch bzr push sftp://[email protected]/home/myuser/myrepo/otherbranch bzr push sftp://[email protected]/home/myuser/myrepo/anotherbranch ...that is a pain in the ass. I readed about bazaar.conf but it seems only able you to set a globals push locations for each branch/repo. Another way I saw is to use alias, but has the same problem, is very ugly when is needed to create new branches. Is posible to do this without modify the BZR code? This should be obvious...

  I'm a new Python programmer who is having a little trouble using 'self' in classes. For example: class data: def __init__(self): self.table = [] def add(self, file): self.table.append(file) data.add('yes') In this function I want to have table be a variable stored in the class data and use add to modify it. However, when I run this script it gives me the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Projects/Python/sfdfs.py", line 7, in <module> data.add('yes') TypeError: add() takes exactly 2 positional arguments (1 given) I assume that I am trying to call the function the wrong way in this instance, as this syntax is very similar to an example in the python documentation: http://docs.python.org/3.1/tutorial/classes.html

  Hello, I want to modify / change the way the floatformat works. By default it changes the input decimal as such: {{ 1.00|floatformat }} -> 1 {{ 1.50|floatformat }} -> 1.5 {{ 1.53|floatformat }} -> 1.53 I want to change this abit as such: If there is a floating part, it should keep the first 2 floating digits. If no floating (which means .00) it should simply cut out the floating part. IE: {{ 1.00|floatformat }} -> 1 {{ 1.50|floatformat }} -> 1.50 {{ 1.53|floatformat }} -> 1.53
