• Problem with accents in Exchange 2010 smtp messages

  Installing brand new Exchange 2010 server. Everything is working pretty good, except that when we send email from the smtp server directly (not from a windows client like outlook), french accents are being replaced with other (random) characters. We are experiencing this problem with email sent from php and different app that we developped in house. I can reproduce the problem by connecting with telnet to the smtp server on port 25. I've tried searching on the net, but haven't found much. Any idea?

• Can't connect to STunnel when it's running as a service

  I've got STunnel configured to proxy non SSL POP3 requests to GMail on port 111. This is working fine when STunnel is running as a desktop app, but when I run the STunnel service, I can't connect to port 111 on the machine (using Outlook Express for example). The Stunnel log file shows the port binding is succeeding, but it never sees a connection. There's something preventing the connection to that port when STunnel is running as a service? • Socksify TCP connections reaching a gateway IP -- preferably without iptables

  I have Virtualbox installed on Debian with a few virtual machines. I can't install anything in the guests, and I use host only networking, vboxnet0. The host IP in the host network is 192.168.56.1, and the guests have static IPs in 192.168.56.0/24. I access Internet with a SOCKS proxy (without authentication) and I would like the Virtualbox guests TCP connections to be sent through the SOCKS proxy. This would also be useful for socksifying external TCP reaching a gateway network card or wireless access point. I looked at transocks, tun2socks, with dante-client, etc., but I don't know how can I achieve this without enabling IP forwarding in the host and using iptables. Maybe to attach somehow the Virtualbox vboxnet0 network to the tunnel tun0 used by tun2socks? Or maybe there is a way to do NAT to tun0 in Virtualbox? I only need TCP traffic and I don't need UDP, not even for DNS.

• maemo - n900 - SIP call quality

  Hi all, I have been using SIP / VoIP on my n900 to make calls and my problem is after about 15 minutes of talk time, more recently 18 minutes exactly, my connection dies and I can no longer hear them or them me. I have tested this with various VoIP providers to confirm that it is not specific to any one provider, but instead my phone. I also have tested this on my laptop. I sent my phone to be tested at some place that tests hardware and no problems were found with the hardware. What can I do to rectify the 15 minute call barrier with SIP on my phone? The other problem I have too is that for the wireless broadband to start working again, I need to restart the phone, it appears the network driver gets overloaded. The one thing that appears to work fine is making cellular calls. I have yet to have call quality drop off after 15 minutes over a cellular connection. Thanks, Walter

• Performance Alert Writing to event Log but not running program

  I followed the instructions here How to create and configure performance alerts in Windows Server 2003 to set up an alert if the available logical disk space on one of my drives goes below a certain number. I selected the option to write to the application event log and select the "run this program" option and put in the path to a script that sends me an email. If I copy the path to the script and run it everything works and I get the email. When I start the alert I can see that the limit I set is being exceeded and the logs are being written to the application log, but the email is never being sent. I have the runas user and pword set to a Domain Admin. If I make the "run this program path" to C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe" it also doesn't start up the calculator. The Performance Logs and alerts services is running as Local Admin with allow to interact with desktop. What am I doing wrong?

  My website has crashed a few days ago. The hosting company says some innodb database crashed. They sent a MySql data folder. I tried to restore the database, but phpmyadmin is only showing MyISAM tables. I checked the database with navicat. • How can I stop sysprep from interacting with boot on windows 7

  I have recently had a laptop sent back to supplier for fixing a mainboard fault. I got it back today and every time it boots up I am faced with: "Setup is preparing windows for first time use" Then once it gets to the desktop I get the sysprep dialog come up asking if I want OOBC or Audit actions. I can close it, but it just keeps coming back, and I cannot find any startup or boot actions, even downloaded autoruns, and that cannot find anything to do with it. Ideally I do not want to format/fdisk as I have just spent hours installing everything on the laptop and I have my primary C:/ which has all windows and at worst case I can get rid of that, but I have a secondary partition D:/ which has alot of stuff I cant lose as its work related and important. Also to make matters more difficult I do not have a windows 7 disk, it was just pre-installed and they dont provide a disk. Any help would be great!

  I'm running an Ubuntu 10.04 (x64) as a web/mysql server. The server became unresponsive to SSH, Ping, HTTP etc. and the technician with physical access to the machine sent me this screengrab here: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/389/img00062201012211332.jpg from the connected monitor before he rebooted (and the situation is fixed). I'm not sure what log this information is kept in as I can't find the text after checking the logs after reboot.   I currently deploy with GAE (google app engine) and I try to implement some AJAX validation. So I got a couple text-fields and "spinners" (ajax loaders) which should be displayed when an AJAX request is sent. But I deploy on my local computer (localhost), so the GAE SDK reacts very fast on any request. It takes about 50-70 ms(miliseconds) to perform the whole ajax request, which is far far away from the real. Is there a way to somehow simulate slow Internet connection? I just want to see how my "spinners" work. I want to test some ajax setting (jquery) about timeouts, errors and so on... Any ideas ?

• In SSIS Convert European Currency Format to United States Currency Format

  I have an interesting problem. I have an SSIS package that processes account data. We are now processing files from Europe. These files are in a CSV format using text qualifiers. For an example of the problem: In the United States the currency format is 123456.99 (We purposely leave the thousands separator out). The files sent from Europe are coming in with two formats. One is 123456,99 and the other is 123.456,00. SSIS is attempting to parse the text file and place it into a NUMERIC(20,2) field. This causes a parsing error in SSIS even with the text qualifiers. If I change the field to CURRENCY it sends a conversion error. I would like for SSIS to deal with this directly without requiring the data to be in the United States format. Has anyone had this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Rob

  Hi, guys, Is there any way to parse HTTP request data in wireshark? For example, can I expose the request parameters upon an HTTP GET request (being sent by my machine), so that I don't need to read the (sometimes) truncated URL and find them by myself? I was using Tamper Data and Firebug, on my Firefox, to analyse these requests, but they're not as reliable as a stand-alone tool for monitoring my network interface, but wireshark keeps data too raw concerning HTTP flow. If you guys know any other stand-alone tool that does this (must be Linux-compatible), please tell me. Thanks!

  I know little about networking the Internet, but, from what I understand, it works — very approximately — as follows: I, sitting at the computer example.com, send a message saying, roughly, "get http://s.tk" to my ISP, which passes the message along, eventually to the machine at s.tk. The s.tk machine gets "example.comhas sent 'gethttp://s.tk'", so sendssomefileto its ISP which passes the file along, eventually to the machine atexample.com`. When the file gets back to example.com, my computer, how does my computer know what to do with it? I'm sure the headers (or something else) indicate it's a Web page rather than, say, a Usenet post — that's not my question. My question is: how does it know whether to display the Web page in my open Opera window or my open Firefox window, or my other open Firefox window, or, heck, to open a new browser instance?

  I'm struggling with setting up email reporting in Freenas. My build is FreeNAS-8.0.4-RELEASE-x64 (10351). I have my IPv4 Default gateway set to 192.168.2.1 (my router) and Nameserver 1 as 8.8.8.8 (google's public). Under my email tab I have from email ***@gmail.com outgoing mail server smtp.google.com port to connect to 465 tls/ssl SSL use smtp auth checked username ***@gmail.com password **** I then went into accounts and changed the root email to ***@gmail.com. When I try and send a test email, I get Your test email could not be sent: timed out So what am I doing wrong?

• Outlook 2010 inbox is spammed with meeting acceptances

  A teammate at work sent out a meeting request to several people. They all accepted. However, one of those people's meeting acceptance notes keeps spamming the creators Inbox. The meeting acceptance came in probably more than 100 times. They were deleted and then shortly after a hundred more or so came in. This is in Outlook 2010. This is such a weird problem and I'm not really sure where to begin looking. Unfortunately I don't have access to the actual Exchange server either. Any ideas?

  I have been referred to here that it might be of better help, I've got a processing file which handles the user sent data, before that, however, it compares the input from client to the expected values to ensure no client-side data change. I can say I don't know lot about HTTP status codes, but I have made up some research on it, and to choose which one is the best for unexpected input handling. So I came up with: 400 Bad Request: The request cannot be fulfilled due to bad syntax 417 Expectation Failed: The server cannot meet the requirements of the Expect request-header field Now, I cannot be really sure which one to use, I have seen 400 Bad Request being used alot, however, whatI get from explanation is that the error is due to an unexistent request rather than an illegal input. On the other side 417 Expectation Failed seems to just fit for my use, however, I have never seen or experimented this header status before. I need your experience and opinions, thanks alot! • Failed reverse DNS and SPF only when using Thunderbird!

  I have a reverse DNS and SPF records correctly setup for my mail server. Sending webmail from it works perfect. The problem is when Thunderbird sends out emails, it is using the client's IP address for the hostname. I have SMTP authentication and specified my mail server's as the outgoing SMTP. Mail is being sent, but it is not "signing" the email with the mail server's IP address.. it is using the client's. Is there any way to fix this? Since gmail only imports POP3 which doesn't have subfolders, I had to connect to both gmail and my university mail using an email client (I am using Evolution) and then drag each folder from my university account to my gmail account. This worked for the most part, but the time stamp on every email I dragged over from my university account to gmail reads as todays date, when it was dragged over. If I enter the email and hit details it shows the actual sent date. How can I get it to not overwrite the received date when transferring? (as I assume this is what is happening). Thanks

• Is there a way to import email from the raw email files?

  I have a client who recently switched hosts. When they switched hosts they didn't backup their email and updated their configuration settings so they lost everything. However, I was able to log in to their old hosting control panel and download their mail folder. I am wondering if there is a way to extract their emails and/or contacts from the files. I'm not sure what type of files they are, there is no extension, but the folder directory is structured like this: mail/ .Drafts/ .Sent/ .Trash/ cur/ new/ theirdomain.com/ tmp/ [email protected] maildir Inside of the theirdomain.com folder, there is a folder for each account and inside of that is a folder called "cur" which has a whole bunch of files with names like 1292945327.H169813P25958.uscentral21.myserverhosts.com,S=10117/2,S and if I preview those files I can see the actual email messages inside of them but I have no idea how to get that information from those files to an email client. Anyone know of a way to work with these files? Thanks in advance for any insight you can share!
