• Magento e-Commerce cannot generate reports

  Good day, My magento cannot generate reports from the admin panel. I get the following error: This report depends on timezone configuration. Once timezone is changed, the lifetime statistics need to be refreshed. Last updated: Oct 21, 2010 3:04:33 PM. To refresh last day's statistics, click here." I follow the instruction and refresh the statistics, still same problem. I confirmed the timezone is right and didn't change before... Please help.

• Magento Checkout options

  Hi I want to add some options to my magento, lets say i print on clothing, a customer buys some t-shirts, shirts and jackets from me, it totals to £60+ VAT on the checkout area where i signup and not before I need to add an option where I can add a text box and upload option, can i do this? I ideally then want to add some pricing options if the user has chosen to add some branding to a product or multiple products e.g. if the branding was on the top right of the shirt it will cost £5.00, if on the back it costs £7.00 etc all if possible to be done via the admincp. I also want an option so when they upload their logo for the first time they are charged a one off charge, like a setup fee but If the customer has allready sent in there logo then no charge applies. thanks Graham

• What could be causing this long waiting time on page load?

  What could be causing a 1.18s wait time when my page loads? Just to make sure I did not have any conflicting or parallel scripts loading, I completely deleted all the script on my home page and ran the speed test again. Although I had a blank website and 5kb file size, there was still a 900ms "waiting" time. I'm wondering if it could be my server? Any other thoughts or suggestions as it doesn't seem to be scripts. EDIT - Just ran a DNS test on pingdom and here are my results. Does this tell me anything? No nameservers found at child?

• Geotargeted subfolder questions (Portugal/Brazil and Switzerland)

  We are at the beginning of the process to get multilingual versions of a website. We will be using subfolders working off the core domain (eg mydomain.com/fr/), set the geotargeting at webmaster tools and set hreflang attribute. I would really appreciate your help with a couple of questions. 1/Portuguese: we will have a Portuguese language version of the site. Our intention is to use this to cover users in both Portugal AND Brazil. ie, we are not going to do separate folders mydomain.com/pt/ and mydomain.com/br/ Can I use 2 hreflang attributes for this language version to tell Google it covers Brazil AND Portugal? What country code to use for this subfolder? 2/Switzerland Does anyone have best practice advice how to do this? One one hand, the subfolder should be mydomain.com/ch/ but as Switzerland covers 2 language possibilities (French AND German) - what to do? thanks

  One of our competitors constantly copies all our website content. Now, I assume the trouble is to proof that we wrote the content first and that it is not the other way round. I checked on http://www.archive.org, but there is nothing. Any other way to proof that? FYI: We are a swiss company, so different laws will apply. • Maximum file size for iFrame in IE7

  I've got a "super secure" javascript downloader* that I wrote, and it usually works alright. But I noticed, while trying to download a 90 meg file with it on a client's machine that on IE7, it's getting hung up about 1/3rd of the way through. I've never tried to send a file that large through the iFrame and it works fine in other browsers. Is there a size restriction on files that IE7 can read in an iFrame? * It's really just a PHP line that sets header("location: http://someplace/downloadbigthing.exe"); after it does some logging and verification.

• Getting a lot of postmaster undeliverable notices for non-existent users

  I've had my domain (straightpathsql.com) for a few years now. I host my e-mail with Google Accounts for business and have for awhile. ALl of the sudden in the past week I am starting to get a lot of postmaster delivery fail notices from various domains, most of them involving bogus e-mail addresses at my domain ([email protected], for example)... My assumption here is that someone is trying to relay on some other host (not my hosts which are secure through google apps for business, I presume) and there isn't much I can do to stop it. But I just want to make sure there isn't something else I need to be looking at here.. An example delivery fail notice is below.. I know nothing of those addresses below and they look like garbage... (Quick edit: the reason I get these messages is I set myself up as a catch all, so it doesn't matter what e-mail you send a note to at my domain, I'll get it if the account isn't setup... All of the failure messages are sent to bogus addresses on my domain) The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.   Here is the design of my web site: The user enter myWebsite.com/a/1 .htaccess rules redirect to myWebsite.com/b Now the JavaScript ExtJS library is loading. Extracting the value from the URL (in this case it is “1”) Loading ./xml/1.xml From 1.xml setting the Open Graph data (Title, type, image, etc) Loading data that will be shown to the user from 1.xml into the website. My question is: How can I make the Open Graph data available to Facebook? Facebook do not to load my ExtJS JavaScript Library before extracting the Open Graph Object values from the HTML. Is there an easy solution to this problem? The only solutions I found is to make statics web pages or dynamically pages rendered on the server side but I would like to avoid these since my web page implementation is already finished and I would like to avoid re working on it.

• Removing existing filtered pages from Google's index: noindex / 301 / canonical to non-filtered page?

  I've decided to remove some of my site's pages from the Google index to focus more of the indexed pages on higher quality pages. The pages I'm going to remove are already in the index. These removed pages are filtered pages which will continue to exist, I just don't want them in the google index because they add little quality to the same page without any filter selected. I've added in webmaster tools specification of narrow for the parameters that set these filters, but it doesn't seem this changes anything in how he handles these pages. So I'm considering three options: Adding <meta name="robots" content="noindex" /> to the html header of these filtered pages 301 to the non-filtered page that contains the most similar information and will remain in the index Canonical tag. Which I'm not sure is exactly the mainstream use case, as these aren't really the same pages. Which should I use?

• Are Meta tags useful for SEO?

  Reading a Search Results with this or a similar phrased question can lead to reading a lot of conflicting answers. Are there any meta tags that matter in SEO? From what I have read I do know that meta keywords are no longer used (or so little it is not worth using them) and don't worry with using them. Meta Description tags are not used for page ranking but can effect click through rates so should be used but be less than 160 characters. I know the following meta tags exist: author - the author's name and possibly email address robots - to allow or disallow indexing by robots copyright - the copyright date of the page How much do these meta tags matter and are there others that are new (including ones that may not be used by all but might be used in the future or are used by only one of the big players like Google or Bing) meta tags that should be included? Note: Even if a meta tag doesn't matter in SEO but helps with click through rates similar to the descript tag does then feel free to include it with your answer.

Problem: All website visitors who would like to make a purchase are taken to a payment form on https://securetrading.net and are redirected back after a successful payment. Google Analytics counts that as a referral and messes up conversion tracking stats. Our company website is pretty awful, I'm currently redesigning the new one, the problem is they have a directory called regions, which contains page for around 200 different locations around the country, all stuffed to the brim with keywords and useless things. Some of these pages work and the traffic's good enough to keep a few of them. • Should my blog be directly on my website?

  I have my newly launched website at www.slicify.com (redirects to a secure subdomain). I currently have a separate blog on WordPress: slicify.wordpress.com for a couple of reasons: I don't really want to mix my site code (it's a complex ecommerce site written in ASP.Net) with blog code, for ease of maintenance etc. WordPress is already great at blogs - seems silly to reinvent the wheel by trying to integrate blog functionality into my site However is keeping my blog on a separate domain going to hurt me in terms of PageRank or traffic? FWIW: while it's early days, I can see from Google Analytics that a good deal of referral traffic is already coming from my WordPress site to my main site, so at least that seems to be drawing potential users in.

• Paypal PDT and IPN , how does it work?

  PDT Payment Data Transfer is getting the transaction data of the purchase that was made on paypal site and you want to fetch that on your own site and display to the user. Also you may want to store it in your database for archive and tracking purposes. But I cannot exactly follow the documentation here What I am not getting is Once you have activated PDT, every time a buyer makes a website payment and is redirected to your return URL, a transaction token will be passed along as a "GET" variable to this return URL. In order to properly use PDT and display transaction details to your customer, you should fetch the transaction token, variable name "tx", and retreive transaction details from PayPal by constructing an HTTP POST to PayPal. Your POST should be sent to https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr. You must post the transaction token using the variable "tx" and the value of the transaction token previously received (e.g. "tx=transaction_token"), and the special identity token using the variable at and the value of your PDT identity token (e.g. "at=identity_token"). You will also need to append a variable named "cmd" with the value "_notify-synch", for example "cmd=_notify-synch", to the POST string. IPN I have setup Instant Payment Notification through setting according to this documentation. This is basically logging into your paypal account and enable IPN while specifying a url where the notification will be sent. This is used to complete an order so that the product can be shipped. What I did is setup a PHP page. I have created a table and whenever that page is called (or hit), it registers an entry in the table so I know a notification came from Paypal. But it does not work either. What am I really doing wrong? The first thing I want to trouble shoot though is when the buyer pays the amount, he is automatically redirected to my site. I have enabled this but automatic redirection just does not work. Instead he is shown the url as an option after payment confirmation is shown. Can someone guide my how the PDT process goes? Where do I make the request for PDT, is it along the very first request (Buy Now button) or it is sent later? I am using this for PDT. • How to Export Email "Sent" Folder?

  A client had her web site and email hosted at "company A". She was switching to "company B" but didn't want to lose her email. I set up a Gmail account, POPed into her webmail account, and pulled the entire inbox into Gmail (for later transfer to her new host). But I forgot about the "sent" folder. Although the hosting plan is still up and running, she changed her domain record to point to the new host. So I can't access the old webmail account via POP or IMAP because the email address needed for authentication now resolves to the new host. Is there any way I can get the contents of the sent folder without having to do a "forward" one message at a time (there are hundreds)?

• Reset / Remove - Google Keywords

  Summary: My site is ranking for filthy keywords and i would like to remove them from google ranking/keywords. Background: My server was hacked using the timthumb exploit/security vulnerability, apparently i was the last person on earth to read the news about the exploit, several months after it appeared. Anyway, the "hacker" was so friendly to modify the index.php file in such a fashion, that it generated random sexual oriented keywords if the website is fetched as google-bot. So if you would fetch it as google bot/it gets indexed, you would get randomly generated keywords like: sex videos teenager teen sex adult sex preteen A LINK TO A RANDOM CONTENT OF MY WEBPAGE anime sex videos a rough list something similar to that, about 180-200 per page. I've discovered it far too late, so that google had me indexed for the words "sex" and certain adult oriented keywords, about roughly 2000. I've removed all the content, toke the site down, replaced the index.php with a static HTML and added a "ERROR 410" title to the website so that the content is no longer here and removed permanently. I've also applied for a manual review of my website, about 1.5 months ago but still, the keywords are there, and very strange, some of the keyword rankings actually "improve" over time. Here are some screenshots from webmasters tools: Question: How can i remove this filthy keywords and re-rank my website as a "normal" website on the fastest way? IF THE HACKER CAN HOOK it? is it necessary to use SSL on our website? and why do some Merchandise websites use SSL and likewise facebook also uses SSL? what is the best suit for you if there is no SSL? encrypting the DATA using PHP going to MySQL or even without encryption while the PHP server uses $_SESSION?...

• Finding terms surrounding a trending hashtag?

  I'm looking for a way to find "sub-trends", or words that are trending beneath a larger trend. For instance, say "#foo" is the hashtag for a conference. Searching for "#foo" only gives you a general overview of what people are talking about -- if "#foo" moves too quickly, it becomes really difficult to track disparite conversations at #foo. If "#bar" and "#abc" are two different sessions at "#foo", one can find more specific information by searching for "#foo #bar" or "#foo #abc"; yet, how would one find out about the existence of these surrounding hashtags, i.e., sub-trends? If you look at the screenshot for Peoplebrowsr, there's a panel that looks for "words surrounding [trend]," which seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Is there a way to accomplish this more simply, i.e., without paying $149 /mo. for Peoplebrowsr? Thanks! Update: Another service that can do this is Twazzup (click for example). The "Community" panel has some limited info on surrounding words; is there a tool that does this, but with more detail?

• Google local search rankings is it possible without the use of citations

  I have a client that is wanting a website design for his self-run business... Basically he is a self employed plumber so his home address is not visitable by the public, however the problem here is that he does not want his home address visible on the internet at all for one reason or another. I have informed him the benefits of having his address visible for such reasons as trust by customers as well as the benefits via Google's local search algorithms (Citations - Visible Address Details) on various directories including Google Maps, and Google Places. But he is clear that he does not want his address online and wants SEO + Web Design without any citations. Now, I care about my reputation in my local area and do not like do half-cut jobs, If I do SEO I want them to be the best they can otherwise word of mouth that customer could say to someone else after my services they are no where to be seen, (I know you can't keep them all happy but none the less). This is kinda new for me since Google introduced local rankings and something I've never had to do... So my question is fairly simple and hope that people who reply have some kind of experience in attempting ranking websites locally without citations.. Is it even possible to rank a local website with Google's local algorithms without the use of citations (address information)?

  I'm interested in purchasing a domain name for a new service I intend to market. I know that .com is instantly recognizable as a domain ending, and if I see stackoverflow.com I know it's a web address. However, I also recognize strings like github.io and mysite.tk as domains, since I've worked with domains like these. To the average member of the public, if one sees an address ending in .io or similar, non-mainstream TLD (e.g. on a billboard or business card) would they immediately know it's a URL and to type it into a browser? Or are these new domains only useful 1) for a technical audience or 2) when you will be primarily promoting your site through links and not print?

• Self hosted PHP shopping cart with no storefront?

  I am looking for a shopping cart to implement on a simple website instead of the default paypal cart that is used with their add to cart buttons (I don't like the non-styeable new tab/window cart). However, I really like the ability to simply add the buttons to existing pages. I do not have a lot of products and do not want to deal with a storefront and complex templates. The main features I need: Self-hosted Easy to implement with existing website (copy and paste button code, etc.) Ability to have variations on one button with different prices (dropdown with sizes, colors, etc.) Ability to track inventory and disallow out of stock orders Ability to pass cart details to PayPal Website Payments Standard I have seen most of the large storefront options: oscommerce, zencart, cubecart, opencart, prestashop, magento, cs-cart, lemonstand, etc. but these are way more than I need. I don't need the storefront or customer accounts or templated pages, etc. I have seen e-junkie, which is not far off from what I would like, but it is not self-hosted and I would prefer an in-site cart (or dynamic overlay cart) rather than a lightbox or new tab/window cart. I also love the paypal minicart and its implementation, but there is no way to track inventory. So, does anyone have any recommendations that might meet these requests?
