  • I want my logs sent to my mail with logrotate

    Not strictly a question about programming as such, more of a log handling question. Anyway. My company has multiple clients, and each of these clients have a set of logs that I'd rather much want to get sent to by e-mail to me. Now, another prerequisite is that they're hilighted by simple HTML. All that is very well, I've managed to make a hilighter for the given log types. So, what I do is I use logrotate's prerotate stuff to send the logs as an e-mail message. Example: /var/log/a.log /var/log/b.log { daily missingok copytruncate prerotate /usr/bin/python /home/foo/hilight_logs /var/log/{a,b}.log | /usr/sbin/sendmail -FLog\ mailer [email protected] [email protected] endscript } The problem with this approach is basically that logrotate sucks: it'll run the command for every log file specified in the specifier, and to my knowledge there's no way to know which of the log files is being handled. (Which wouldn't really help anyway.) Short of repeating the exact same logrotate up to 10 times on different machines, the only thing I can do is just to get bogged down with log spam every night. And I grew tired of it today, so I ask.

  • PEAR mail not sending to .eu email addresses

    I have a PEAR mailing script that is used to send newsletters from a clients website. I've used the same code before to produce another newsletter system and it has worked well and been used to send emails to various addresses, however our latest client has email addresses ending .eu and this seems to cause a problem. When the newsletter is sent from the site to the various subscribers, including gmail, hotmail, yahoo and our own company emails, the emails are received correctly by all but the clients email addresses, the ones ending in .eu. As there is nothing different between their mailing system and our own, which is run from the same hosting company, I have to conclude that it is something to do with the domain name. The emails are being sent to the addresses from the system, as I have a log file storing the email addresses when the mail out function is called, but the newsletter never appears in the inbox. I have created a new email account for the domain and that too isn't receiving the emails. It's not going into a spam folder as the webmail system marks spam by adding SPAM into the subject. I don't know a great deal about PEAR or the mailing function so I may be missing something important, but I'd have thought seeing the last thing to happen is sending the email out, and that seems to work, then it should reach the clients inbox. Is this something to do with the PEAR mailing function not liking .eu addresses or is it more likely to be something wrong in my code or with their domain? Any help is greatly appreciated as the client and myself are getting both confused and frustrated by the whole thing. Cheers

    Okay i'm a little bit stuck on how to solve this problem. When a user registers. I want to send him a link so that he can verify hes email address. But i have troubles generating the link. I've already written the controller to accept the links with the correct keys. i only have no idea on how to generate the activation keys.     I have a piece of cdosys code which runs correctly and generates e-mail with my SQL Server 2008 server talking to a MS Exchange 2003 Server.   • Ideas for storing e-mail messages in a Delphi client server application

    There are many suggestions here and there for storing e-mail messages. Somehow what I am doing is writing an Outlook addin to send emails from inbox/sent folders directly to my application. So only what is really interesting is saved. And I decide where to save it. Imagine this case: I recieve an email from a customer. It's up to me to decide whether I should save it on the customer or on the order 24 that that customer did. So this is why I am doing the add in, and not some automatic storing of emails = noise after some time. This said, how to store the emails? For the emails that I recieve or send through Outlook the idea could be save the whole file in a blob field (so the eml file), may be I can save also other info (like the subject) in another text field. But the problem comes when I write an email from my application. In this case I am not generating an eml file, I send through MAPI data to Outlook to compose an email that I will send with Outlook (so in this case I cannot save the eml), or I directly send it with Indy. Also in this case I don't have the eml file... One idea could be that the all the emails that I auto compose have a special flag that the Add in recognises and therefore when I send the mail it is stored back to the DB. So in this case I can save the eml also of the mails I sent from my application. May you comment?

  • Need a piece of advice about e-mail automation in ms exchange + ms office environment

    Hi, guys. I need your help in the following simple situation. I've got an MS Exchange server and some client computers running on XP with Office 2003 installed. And I've got a process I need to automate. Twice a day a known list of people sends an e-mail to a certain mailbox (let's call it manager's mailbox) - basically, an accomplishment report. After recieving letters from all of these people the mailbox owner sends and e-mail to another mailbox, meaning that a certain process is done. What I need to do is to replace this manager's mailbox with a depersonalized mailbox that will accumulate all the reports and automatically send a message after collecting all of them. I am definitely not in a "oh my God, what shold I do?" situation, and currently my imagination shows me a couple of ways to solve this problem, which I'm going to try, and I'm not ascking for a ready solution. But since I'm not experienced in Office/VBA developement, I'd like to ask a corresponding pro's opinion. Can you point me to a right direction from the best practices' point of view?

I am currently using PHP's mail() function, however I am worried that my emails are being filtered out by spam filters.   • App dies on startup but not crash report

    I've given an ad hoc version of my app to some users. Two of them have the app die on start up while one user has no issues. I can also install the ad hoc without issue...but that is always the case for me. One user sent the info below from the Xcode Organizer Console. They didn't find any crash logs. I don't know what to make of the info below. The one thing that stands out is "Permission denied". I place the provisioning and myapp.app files in a dropbox folder. The user then retrieves the files from the same location. I've run codesign against the .app file in the dropbox and get valid output: codesign -vvvv myapp.app myapp.app: valid on disk myapp.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement Any one have some ideas how I can figure out why the app doesn't work for this user? For example in my application if I want the user to push a button and launch right into the Phone app (close the current app, open the Phone app), would this be possible?     everyone I'm just starting with django. It is not quite clear to me, how should I write an app I could reuse later. In every tutorial I read I see the same piece of code: view.py from project.app.models import MyModel So, if I move my apps to another project, I'll have to modify the "project.app.models" so that it looks like "project2.app.models" for every app I move.     I'm trying to create an online application for a python function i have created. in my script, i input the path of my file for the computer (input_path = '/users/user/desktop/input.txt') but i'm not sure how to go about this using Google App Engine . I have the choice between 3 templates: flask, django, and bottle . I really do believe this question is relevant for people transitioning from scripts to web-based applications. Do I need to incorporate GUI stuff from Tkinter or something? There has to be a way to simply select a file to use for the input path in an interactive way using python scripts

What im trying to do is, for every order that i have, order 1,2,3, each having their own email addresses, when i change their order status from pending to confirm, the mail() will use that id to refer to the db table and send the email of those 3 orders. But for my case, it mailed just the latest order which is order 3.
