  • hosting database on separate server

    Hello Experts, We have an enterprise web app to which our clients post/upload lots of documents [mainly images and pdf files] via web interface, iphone app etc etc. We are also using imagick to split pdf documents into images. Also, large number of mysql SELECT/UPDATE/DELETE queries happen all day. Currently, all of this is happening on same server and we are planning to split the process in 3 stages : 1) a server only for database 2) a server only for documents (document upload, splitting etc) 3) a server for the main php web app Is there any drawback with this kind of structure as compared to hosting everything on same server ?   • Blackberry Enterprise Server v5.x not forwarding mail to devices

    My BlackBerry enterprise server recently stopped forwarding messages to devices. In fact, the server claims that the last time it communicated with all the devices associated with it, was on Thursday night (2 nights ago.) The catch is this, the Exchange server is running properly (or as properly as Exchange can run :) ) The SQL server seems to be running properly. And the Blackberry Enterprise server seems to be running correctly. Other than the fact that the server has not communicated with my device since Thursday, and the fact that I am not getting messages, there is nothing wrong. How do I get these message to be forwarded to devices again? I have restarted the BES services int he order suggested by the BlackBerry folks

  • Forwarding all mail to a single dev box on IIS via virtual SMTP

    I am trying to set up a development environment for our web server. I would like all emails that are relayed by the server go to a specific mailbox, regardless of who they were sent to. For example, some application on the server sends an email to [email protected]. I want that email to go to [email protected]. Is that possible to do with IIS/Virtual SMTP? Is there some other way of doing this? I don't have exchange server running, if that makes a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

  • Exim - send certain "local" user mail to smtp

    I'm using Exim 3 and would like to know how to send some local addresses to the smtp server instead of Exim handling them as a localuser. They are local addresses in the sense that they have the same domain as listed in 'local_domains' in exim.conf. I tried using the "require_files" option on the localuser director in exim.conf, but with no luck. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Ryan

At exim4 server, I had setup an alias for the users accounts ...for example root : [email protected] But I have other server, if I put the alias email is marked as spam...since they arent using exim4 server. I want to configure the other server to use that exim4 server, in order to dont get the mails mark as spam. Well I know this is really newbie question, but searching at google is difficult since it confuses exim4 server configuration than the client configuration to use exim4 server. Remember, I want root@server1,root@server2,etc mails send via exim4 server!

  • Windows 7: app crashing/hanging on "save as" dialog

    now this is really annoying - I'm having a global problem in Windows 7: when using the system's "save as"-file dialog, the main app will just hang. the mouse-cursor is showing progress, the whole app is hanging and I need to terminate it manually. it's happening with every app! (notepad, word, graphics app). I'm assuming it's something with the system enumerating the harddisk-drivenames or something. any idea how to fix this? by the way - when viewing the problem details - it's telling the module - it's msonsext.dll, looks like some office thing to me.

  • E-mail from specific domain not delivered to one of the cc: recipients on Exchange 2010

    we have a user on Exchange 2010 server who doesn't get email from one specific domain if her address is in cc: field. If she is a main recipient (To:) it goes through. We checked Exchange logs and it looks like our server doesn't even try to deliver it, it simply ignores her email address completely. We did several tests: send email with her email address in cc: field from another domain, succeeded send email with her email address in to: field from another domain, succeeded send email with her email address in to: field from affected domain, succeeded turn off all email rules check via webmail We also turned off firewall, antispam and antivirus for SMTP rule. Does anyone have any idea what could be an issue here? Thanks

  • Virtual host config issues in osx 10.7 server app

    I have two mac mini lion servers setup to run as production and staging machines. My sysadmin decided on these machines over the previous CentOS we had because it had an "interface" to be able to manage it, rather than just the terminal. To be honest, I prefer the terminal. My problem is, the mac osx 10.7 server.app seems to be having issues with the creation of virtual hosts in the 'Web' section. It seems VERY touchy. For example, I cannot create a http virtual host first. I have to create a https host first with a unique dns name 9e..g vuly6), then create the http host with a different dns name to the first (e.g. www), or it appears to override it the first one, even though one is ssl and one is non-ssl. Further, it seems to override perfectly good configurations at random. For example, the default sites directory is usually /Users/default/Sites/Customsites or something, but sometimes when I load the server.app it changes to /var/empty. Also, if I change or add extra virtual hosts after the first one or two, it starts to mess up and the first two virtual hosts start having issues. Has anyone had any experience with setting up virtual hosts via this app? Am I able to manually create these virtual hosts, without using the app, and without the app overriding my settings when I restart apache?

  • Turning Google Apps mail inbox into Support Ticket System

    I have an account at Google apps and most of my email is done trough Gmail. Now I just manually respond to support email. I was wondering if there is an easy way using filters and auto responders to create a support ticket system. I think something like this would be great, but is it possible: Gmail has to make a unique ID for every email that comes in. After that all the other incoming mails should be grouped using that unique ID and not grouped by email. Something like that, or are there things I am not taking into account. I really don't want to use separate software for this, because I think with some small configurations this can do the trick quite well. Or are there some free apps on the marketplace that do this already. I have searched for this but cannot find any. Sorry if this is not an SF question. I really didn't know which is the best fit for this question. This can be migrated to anywhere if someone things it would be answered better there.

  • Huge email sizes when using mail merge in Word 2010

    So I've designed an HTML template to send out some emails on. The code is fine, everything looks great there, and it tests just fantastically. I was sending out putting my recipients in the BCC field, but I decided to make it a little more personal and open the file in Word and do an email merge. The HTML file itself is 3.06kb and contains an img src to an absolute URL, which is about 125kb (a little large, I know, but it's very important). When I merge the file from Word 2010 - Outlook 2010, the email size jumps to about 250kb. It's not much, I know, but I'm a gigantic nerd and I'm stuck thinking it should be about 5kb with MIME overhead. Here's the file list on one of the test emails: File Size image001.png 104366 image002.gif 43 MESSAGE 1259 Mime.822 152575 TEXT.htm 5712 Since the img src is specified, I'm not sure why these are coming through. If this is an issue inherent to Outlook, I'd be happy to explore other options.

    I had an email account [email protected] hosted on Host A. This mailbox had 100 messages. I wanted to migrate to Host B, so I download all the 100 messages from Host A on my iPhone. Now that my site was successfully migrated to Host B and the email account [email protected] was created again (the mailbox is empty), how can I send the messages that I have downloaded on my iPhone to the mailbox on Host B? Note that the migration from Host A to Host B did not change the IMAP and SMTP adressess and parameters. I'm still using the same addresses, parameters and ports as before. The email accounts just switched hosting.

  • Windows 8 can't open any modern UI app

    I just upgraded my machine with Windows 7 Pro x64, to Windows 8 Pro x64, with the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant. Everything went great, but none of the Modern UI Apps open, and they do not show any error messages or warnings, they just close right away I opened them. I tried to open Skydrive, Windows Store, Photo App,Music App, Bing, Videos , Finances and all the available Modern UI apps on my screen My screen resolution is 1080p, so it is not a resolution issue, I'm using a Windows account , but i switched to Local account but didn't solved the issue. I ran Windows Update and updated my nVidia video drivers. I also tried an app called "Metro App Troubleshooter" without luck

When a user A comment to a post, the poster will get an email notification from '[email protected]' with the comment message written by user A. (Not spam) I really like Google Apps but they have sending limits 2000 sending per day, that is not suit for my case becuz I cannot have sending limits.     I've noticed a quick increase on smtp connections coming to my server, investigating it further i figured out that there's a botnet hammering my smtp server. I've tried to stop it by adding a rule at iptables: -N SMTP-BLOCK -A SMTP-BLOCK -m limit --limit 1/m --limit-burst 3 -j LOG --log-level notice --log-prefix "iptables SMTP-BLOCK " -A SMTP-BLOCK -m recent --name SMTPBLOCK --set -j DROP -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -m state --state NEW -m recent --name SMTPBLOCK --rcheck --seconds 360 -j SMTP-BLOCK -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -m state --state NEW -m recent --name SMTP --set -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -m state --state NEW -m recent --name SMTP --rcheck --seconds 60 --hitcount 3 -j SMTP-BLOCK -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT That would avoid them from hammering "too fast", however the problem still, there's like 5 tries per second, it's going insane, i had to incrase the maximum number of childs of sendmail/dovecot. There's too many ips to filter out manually and simply changing the smtp to another port is not practical since i got many other clients on that server. I'm using sendmail with dovecot, any ideas to have this filtered out more efficiently?
