  • Working with datetime type in Quickbooks My Time files

    - by jakemcgraw
    I'm attempting to process Quickbooks My Time imt files using PHP. The imt file is a plaintext XML file. I've been able to use the PHP SimpleXML library with no issues but one: The numeric representations of datetime in the My Time XML files is something I've never seen before: <object type="TIMEPERIOD" id="z128"> <attribute name="notes" type="string"></attribute> <attribute name="start" type="date">308073428.00000000000000000000</attribute> <attribute name="running" type="bool">0</attribute> <attribute name="duration" type="double">3600</attribute> <attribute name="datesubmitted" type="date">310526237.59616601467132568359</attribute> <relationship name="activity" type="1/1" destination="ACTIVITY" idrefs="z130"></relationship> </object> You can see that attritube[@name='start'] has a value of: 308073428.00000000000000000000 This is not Excel based method of storage 308,073,428 is too many days since 1900-01-00 and it isn't Unix Epoch either. So, my question is, has anyone ever seen this type of datetime representation?

Here is the code: public class KidneyeGFR extends Activity implements OnClickListener { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Calculate = (Button)this.findViewById(R.id.Calculate); Calculate.setOnClickListener(this); } public void onClick(View v) { if (Female.isChecked()) { gender = 0.742; } else { gender = 1.0; } if (African.isChecked()) { race = 1.212; } else { race = 1.0; } calculateBone(); } protected void calculateBone() { int age = Integer.parseInt(EditAge.getText().toString()); double serum = Double.parseDouble(EditSerum.getText().toString()); finalgfr = BONECONST * Math.pow(serum, -1.154) * Math.pow(age, -0.203) * gender * race; BONEtext.setText(Double.toString(finalbone)); }

  • Why doesn't setting clearTaskOnLaunch="true" cause OnCreate to be called?

    - by cbrauer
    My application works fine, once it is initialized in the OnCreate method of my View class. However, when I open my app after the Droid phone has been sitting idle all night, the OnCreate method is not being called. I use the OnCreate to initialize data, and that in turn initializes the GUI. The GUI clearly shows that OnCreate was not called. I tried setting clearTaskOnLaunch="true" in my Manifest. My Manifest is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.hedgetools.trin" android:versionCode="2" android:versionName="1.02"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:clearTaskOnLaunch="true"> <activity android:name=".Trin" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="6" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE" /> </manifest> This did not help. My OnCreate method is not being call after the Droid phone sits idle all night. Why doesn’t clearTaskOnLaunch cause OnCreate to be called? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. • How do I start a service which is defined in a different package?

    - by Brad Hein
    I have two apps, one runs in namespace com.gtosoft.voyager and the other is com.gtosoft.dash. From com.gtosoft.dash I would like to start up the service which is defined in com.gtosoft.voyager... I think I need an intent, but what arg(s) would I pass to the intent before kicking it off with startService()? If they were in the same package I could just use Intent svc=new Intent (SettingsActivity.this,VoyagerService.class); startService(svc); Snippet of Manifest which defines the service <application android:icon="@drawable/voyagercarlogo" android:label="@string/app_name" android:debuggable="false"> <provider android:name="com.gtosoft.voyager.VoyagerCProvider" android:authorities="com.gtosoft.voyager"/> <service android:name=".VoyagerService"/> <activity android:name=".SettingsActivity" android:label="Voyager" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity>

  • How to putExtra() in Searchable Dictionary Example

    - by sirlunchalot
    Hi, based on the Searchable Dictionary sample I tried to put extra data to a different activity. public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Spinner distance = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.distanceSpinner); ArrayAdapter<CharSequence> adapterDistance = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource( this, R.array.distance, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item); adapterDistance.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); distance.setAdapter(adapterDistance); Intent intent = getIntent(); if (Intent.ACTION_VIEW.equals(intent.getAction())) { // handles a click on a search suggestion; launches activity to show word mapIntent = new Intent(this, Map.class); mapIntent.setData(intent.getData()); mapIntent.putExtra("Distance", distance.getSelectedItemPosition()); startActivity(mapIntent); finish(); } } In my Map Class Distance is always zero because distance.getSelectedItemPostion() gets the initialized value. How can I putExtra data with a click on a search suggestion? Thanks

  • Getting an updated location in Android

    - by jul
    Hi, I'm using the code shown below to get an updated value for location every time a button is clicked. When my activity is resumed I get an update every second, so that when I call getLastKnownLocation I expect to have a location that have been updated in the last second. Is that the correct way to do that? I would expect the onLocationChanged event to be triggered every time I execute a 'geo fix' command (or max after 1s since I request update every 1s), but it's only triggered the first time. Why? Any help/suggestion welcome! Thanks package org.digitalfarm.atable; ... public class Atable extends Activity { private Button mSearchButton; private TextView mytext; private LocationManager locationManager; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); mSearchButton = (Button)this.findViewById(R.id.button); mytext = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.dude); locationManager = (LocationManager)getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); final Criteria criteria = new Criteria(); criteria.setAccuracy(Criteria.ACCURACY_FINE); mSearchButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { String provider = locationManager.getBestProvider(criteria, true); Location location = locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(provider); } }); } //Start a location listener LocationListener onLocationChange=new LocationListener() { public void onLocationChanged(Location loc) { //sets and displays the lat/long when a location is provided String latlong = "Lat: " + loc.getLatitude() + " Long: " + loc.getLongitude(); mytext.setText(latlong); } public void onProviderDisabled(String provider) { // required for interface, not used } public void onProviderEnabled(String provider) { // required for interface, not used } public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras) { // required for interface, not used } }; //pauses listener while app is inactive @Override public void onPause() { super.onPause(); locationManager.removeUpdates(onLocationChange); } //reactivates listener when app is resumed @Override public void onResume() { super.onResume(); locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER,1000,100.0f,onLocationChange); } }

  • Weird exception: Cannot cast String to Boolean when using getBoolean

    - by La bla bla
    I'm getting a very weird error. I have 2 activities. On both I'm getting the SharedPreferences using MODE_PRIVATE (if it matters) by sp = getPreferences(MODE_PRIVATE); on each activity's onCreate() I'm calling sp.getBoolean(IntroActivity.SHOW_INTRO, true) On the IntroActivity this works fine. But when I'm trying in the main activity, I'm getting this 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Boolean 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at android.app.SharedPreferencesImpl.getBoolean(SharedPreferencesImpl.java:242) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at com.lablabla.parkme.ParkMeActivity$2.onClick(ParkMeActivity.java:194) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at android.view.View.performClick(View.java:4084) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at android.view.View$PerformClick.run(View.java:16966) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at android.os.Handler.handleCallback(Handler.java:615) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:92) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:137) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4745) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:511) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:786) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:553) 10-12 04:55:23.208: E/AndroidRuntime(11668): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) I made sure that I'm not putting a String somewhere in the middle with that same key Any ideas?   • Android - Where to store generated bitmaps?

    - by Josh
    I've got an app which dynamically generates anywhere from 6 to 100 small bitmaps for the user to move around the screen in a given session. I currently generate them in onCreate and store them to the sd card, so that after an orientation change I can grab them out of external storage and display them again. However, this takes time (the loading) and I'd like to keep the bitmap references around between lifecyle changes for quicker access. My question is, is there a better place to store my generated bitmaps? I was thinking about creating a static storage library in my base activity, something that would only need to be reloaded when the app is completely removed from memory (shutdown, other apps need resources, 30 minute restart, etc). Ideally, I'd like the user to be able to back out to the title screen, click a "Resume" button, and in onCreate I just have access to those resident bitmap references instead of having to load them from storage again. For this reason I don't think Activity.onRetainNonConfigurationInstance is what I need. Alternatively, is there a better way to handle multiple generated bitmaps than what I'm doing or the plan I described?

  • Webview shouldoverrideurlloading doesn't work

How can I repair this? I need to open all the link (except the main page www.mysite.com/iphone.php) in the default browser

  • "No keyboard for id 0"?

    - by Mellon
    I am new in Android app. development, now I have encountered a strange problem with the Menu button. Here is the thing: I have two activities, "ActivityOne" and "ActivityTwo", where "ActivityTwo" is the child Activity of "ActivityOne". In both activity, I have defined the menu button options like following: @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { super.onCreateOptionsMenu(menu); MenuItem insertMenuItem = menu.add(0, INSERT_ID, 0, R.string.menu_insert); insertMenuItem.setIcon(R.drawable.ic_menu_add); MenuItem settingMenuItem = menu.add(0, SETTING_ID, 0, R.string.menu_setting); settingMenuItem.setIcon(R.drawable.ic_menu_settings); MenuItem aboutMenuItem = menu.add(0, ABOUT_ID, 0, R.string.menu_about); aboutMenuItem.setIcon(R.drawable.ic_menu_about); logPrinter.println("creating menu options..."); return true; } @Override public boolean onMenuItemSelected(int featureId, MenuItem item) { switch(item.getItemId()) { case INSERT_ID: doInsert(); return true; case SETTING_ID: return true; case ABOUT_ID: showAbout(); return true; } return super.onMenuItemSelected(featureId, item); } In "ActivityOne", when I click the physical Menu button, there is no menu options pop up from screen bottom, when I checked the LogCat console, there are two warning messages, which are "No keyboard for id 0" and "Using default keyMap:/system/usr/keychars/qwerty.kcm.bin" . BUT, in "ActivityTwo", the menu button works fine, it shows me those menu options I defined. Why the menu button does not work in "ActivityOne" ?? What does the warning msg mean???

  • Launch app with specific locale

    - by hermo
    Changing the locale for a device is done in the settings, and can't be done by an app AFAIK. I know how to force my own app to a specific locale, described e.g. here: http://www.tutorialforandroid.com/2009/01/force-localize-application-on-android.html So now to my question. Can I force, programatically, the local of an activity that isn't mine? I can imagine 2 ways this could be possible: Specifying the locale in an Intent used to start the activity. Access and manipulate the configuration of running activities (in the same way as I can modify my own activities' configurations). Any thoughts? Is it possible? Is it reasonable? I guess 2. would be more direct, but require some kind of permission (e.g. the modified atcitiy must allow it in the manifest file). But I'd settle for 1. or similar. What I want is to be able to see certain apps in a different language, but rather not change the system locale. E.g. the Android Market, that only displays comments in one language. Can't think of other things right now. Can't find much written on Locale in the documentation, what is and isn't possible. But hoping some undocumented feature might enable this :)

  • Showing Loading screen during REST service request in android app ?

    - by sat
    Currently here is what I am following, As soon as my app is launched, I have to send a request for REST service, It will take little time , so I thought of showing loading screen, In onCreate() of my Activity , first thing will be to show loading screen(progress dialog) , And I kick off the background Activity using AsyncTask , i.e. requesting for REST service and onPostexecute() I close the dialog and then I do setContentView(myxml); and update the UI . Can this approach be improved ? Problem which I faced was , Sometimes , Garbage collector may start(due to various reasons) and my app hangs at loading screen forever , because of Garbage collector , even request for REST service is not sent and because of it some wake up call comes and rest is disaster and Force close. But sometimes even ForceClose doesnot come fast , may be because of GC. so I cannot even go back and stuck in loading screen. Only thing which I can do at that point is to come back HOME. After that If I come back to my app its still loading , so definitely this approach seems to be a bad design. Whats the right approach ?

  • Can someone please explain Cursor in android ?

    - by Prabhat
    Can some one explain how the cursor exactly works ? Or the flow of the following part of the code ? I know that this is sub activity and all but I did not understand how Cursor works exactly. final Uri data = Uri.parse("content://contacts/people/"); final Cursor c = managedQuery(data, null, null, null, null); String[] from = new String[] { People.NAME }; int[] to = new int[] { R.id.itemTextView }; SimpleCursorAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this,R.layout.listitemlayout, c, from, to); ListView lv = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.contactListView); lv.setAdapter(adapter); lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int pos, long id) { c.moveToPosition(pos); int rowId = c.getInt(c.getColumnIndexOrThrow("_id")); Uri outURI = Uri.parse(data.toString() + rowId); Intent outData = new Intent(); outData.setData(outURI); setResult(Activity.RESULT_OK, outData); finish(); } }); Thanks.

  • How do I place widgets above and below a listview?

    - by Jay Askren
    I have a list view and want to put stuff both above(on the y axis) and below(y axis) it including images, text views, and a row of buttons. Below is a simplified version of what I am creating. Unfortunately the list covers(i.e. above on the z axis) the header so the header text is not visible instead of being underneath (on the y axis) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/footer" android:text="footer" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" /> <ListView android:id="@+id/list_view" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_above="@id/footer" android:background="#ff9999ff"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/header" android:text="header" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_above="@id/list_view" android:baselineAlignBottom="false" /> </RelativeLayout> Here is the corresponding Activity class: public class SampleListActivity extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.list_activity); } }

  • How to Implement Backbone Java Logic Code into Android

    - by lord_sneed
    I wrote a program to work from the console in Eclipse and the terminal window in Linux. I am now transforming it into an Android app and I have the basic functionality of the Android UI done up until the point where it needs to use the logic from the Java file of the program I wrote. All of my inputs from the Java file are currently from the keyboard (from Scanners). My question is: how do I transform this to get it work with the user interaction of the app? The only input would be from the built in NumberPicker. Should I copy and paste the code from the Java program to the activity file in the onCreate method and change all of the input methods (Scanners) to work with the Android input? Or do I create variables in the activity file and pass them to the Java program (in the separate class)? (If so, how would I do that? the Java file starts from the main method: public static void main(String[] args) {) Also, will the print statements I have, System.out.println(...);, translate directly into the Android UI and print on the screen or do I have to modify those?

  • Fragments keep going back to the default position when MapView is Zoomed In/Out

    - by hectichavana
    I have an activity with 3 fragments displayed, a MapActivity, a ListActivity, and a (normal) DetailsActivity. The ListActivity and DetailsActivity is placed over the MapActivity. There's a function to hide both ListActivity and DetailsActivity with an Animation, and onAnimationEnd() I set a new layout for the hidden Activity. The problem I'm facing is, everytime one of the ListActivity or DetailsActivity hidden (picture State 2), and then I pinch the screen on the MapActivity to zoom the map, it always goes back to the default view (picture State 1). The closed Activities are automatically opened again. Does anybody know how to prevent the hidden fragments from going to the first state again when I pinch the MapActivity? this is an example of the function how I hide the DetailsActivity(): public void hideDetailview() { final Animation close = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(this, R.anim.close); close.setFillEnabled(true); close.setAnimationListener(closeDetailAnimationListener); fragment_detail.startAnimation(close); Toast.makeText(MainFragmentActivity.this,WWHApplication.getDrawer(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } private AnimationListener closeDetailAnimationListener = new AnimationListener() { @Override public void onAnimationStart(Animation animation) { } @Override public void onAnimationRepeat(Animation animation) { } @Override public void onAnimationEnd(Animation animation) { int newLeft = -330; fragment_detail.layout(newLeft, fragment_detail.getTop(), newLeft + fragment_detail.getMeasuredWidth(), fragment_detail.getTop() + fragment_detail.getMeasuredHeight()); } };

  • Attempted GCF app for Android

    - by Aaron
    I am new to Android and am trying to create a very basic app that calculates and displays the GCF of two numbers entered by the user. Here is a copy of my GCF.java: package com.example.GCF; import java.util.Arrays; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.view.View.OnClickListener; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.TextView; public class GCF extends Activity { private TextView mAnswer; private EditText mA, mB; private Button ok; private String A, B; private int iA, iB; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); mA = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.entry); mB = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.entry1); ok = (Button) findViewById(R.id.ok); mAnswer = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.answer1); ok.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { A = mA.getText().toString(); B = mB.getText().toString(); } }); // the String to int conversion happens here iA = Integer.parseInt(A.trim()); iB = Integer.parseInt(B.trim()); while (iA != iB) { int[] nums={ iA, iB, Math.abs(iA-iB) }; Arrays.sort(nums); iA=nums[0]; iB=nums[1]; } updateDisplay(); } private void updateDisplay() { mAnswer.setText( new StringBuilder().append(iA)); } } Any Suggestions? Thank you!
