  • Merge Sort issue when removing the array copy step

    - by Ime Prezime
    I've been having an issue that I couldn't debug for quite some time. I am trying to implement a MergeSort algorithm with no additional steps of array copying by following Robert Sedgewick's algorithm in "Algorithm's in C++" book. Short description of the algorithm: The recursive program is set up to sort b, leaving results in a. Thus, the recursive calls are written to leave their result in b, and we use the basic merge program to merge those files from b into a. In this way, all the data movement is done during the course of the merges. The problem is that I cannot find any logical errors but the sorting isn't done properly. Data gets overwritten somewhere and I cannot determine what logical error causes this. The data is sorted when the program is finished but it is not the same data any more. For example, Input array: { A, Z, W, B, G, C } produces the array: { A, G, W, W, Z, Z }. I can obviously see that it must be a logical error somewhere, but I have been trying to debug this for a pretty long time and I think a fresh set of eyes could maybe see what I'm missing cause I really can't find anything wrong. My code: static const int M = 5; void insertion(char** a, int l, int r) { int i,j; char * temp; for (i = 1; i < r + 1; i++) { temp = a[i]; j = i; while (j > 0 && strcmp(a[j-1], temp) > 0) { a[j] = a[j-1]; j = j - 1; } a[j] = temp; } } //merging a and b into c void merge(char ** c,char ** a, int N, char ** b, int M) { for (int i = 0, j = 0, k = 0; k < N+M; k++) { if (i == N) { c[k] = b[j++]; continue; } if (j == M) { c[k] = a[i++]; continue; } c[k] = strcmp(a[i], b[j]) < 0 ? a[i++] : b[j++]; } } void mergesortAux(char ** a, char ** b, int l, int r) { if(r - l <= M) { insertion(a, l, r); return; } int m = (l + r)/2; mergesortAux(b, a, l, m); //merge sort left mergesortAux(b, a, m+1, r); //merge sort right merge(a+l, b+l, m-l+1, b+m+1, r-m); //merge } void mergesort(char ** a,int l, int r, int size) { static char ** aux = (char**)malloc(size * sizeof(char*)); for(int i = l; i < size; i++) aux[i] = a[i]; mergesortAux(a, aux, l, r); free(aux); }

  • Mallocing an unsigned char array to store ints

    - by Max Desmond
    I keep getting a segmentation fault when i test the following code. I am currently unable to find an answer after having searched the web. a = (byte *)malloc(sizeof(byte) * x ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x-1 ; i++ ) { scanf("%d", &y ) ; a[i] = y ; } Both y and x are initialized. X is the size of the array determined by the user. The segmentation fault is on the second to last integer to be added, i found this by adding printf("roar") ; before setting a[i] to y and entering one number at a time. Byte is a typedef of an unsigned char. Note: I've also tried using a[i] = (byte)y ; A is ininitalized as follows byte *a ; If you need to view the entire code it is this: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include "sort.h" int p_cmp_f () ; int main( int argc, char *argv[] ) { int x, y, i, choice ; byte *a ; while( choice !=2 ) { printf( "Would you like to sort integers?\n1. Yes\n2. No\n" ) ; scanf("%d", &choice ) ; switch(choice) { case 1: printf( "Enter the length of the array: " ) ; scanf( "%d", &x ) ; a = (byte *)malloc(sizeof( byte ) * x ) ; printf( "Enter %d integers to add to the array: ", x ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x -1 ; i++ ) { scanf( "%d", &y ) ; a[i] = y ; } switch( choice ) { case 1: bubble_sort( a, x, sizeof(int), p_cmp_f ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x ; i++ ) printf( "%d", a[i] ; break ; case 2: selection_sort( a, x, sizeof(int), p_cmp_f ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x; i++ ) printf( "%d", a[i] ; break ; case 3: insertion_sort( a, x, sizeof(int), p_cmp_f ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x ; i++ ) printf( "%d", a[i] ; break ; case 4: merge_sort( a, x, sizeof(int), p_cmp_f ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x ; i++ ) printf( "%d", a[i] ; break ; case 5: quick_sort( a, x, sizeof(int), p_cmp_f ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x ; i++ ) printf( "%d", a[i] ; break ; default: printf("Enter either 1,2,3,4, or 5" ) ; break ; } case 2: printf( "Thank you for using this program\n" ) ; return 0 ; break ; default: printf( "Enter either 1 or 2: " ) ; break ; } } free(a) ; return 0 ; } int p_cmp_f( byte *element1, byte *element2 ) { return *((int *)element1) - *((int *)element2) ; }

  • A view interface for large object/array dumps

    - by user685107
    I want to embed in a page a detailed structure report of my model objects, like print_r() or var_export() produce (now I’m doing this with running var_export() on get_object_vars()). But what I actually want to see is only some properties (in most cases), but at this moment I have to use Ctrl+F and seek the variable I want, instead of just staring at it right after the page completes loading. So I’m embedding buttons to show/hide large arrays etc. but thought: ‘What if there already is the thing I do right now?’ So is there? Update: What would your ideal interface look like? First of all, dumped models fit in the first screen. All the properties can be seen at the first look at the screen (there are not many of them, around 10 per each, three models total, so it is possible). Small arrays can be shown unrolled too. Let the size of the array to count it as ‘small’ be definable. Ideally, the user can see values of the properties without doing any click, scrolling the screen or typing something. There must be some improvements to representing the values, say, if an array is empty, show array ‘My_big_array’ is empty and if a boolean variable starting with is_, has_, had_ has a false as the value, make the variable (let us take is_available for example) shown as is_NOT_available in red, and if it has true as the value, show is_available in green. Without any value shown. The same goes for defined constants. That would be ideal. I want to make focus on this kind of switches. Krumo seems useful, but since it always closes up the variable without making difference of how large it is, I cannot use it as is, but there might appear something similar on github soon :) Second update starts here: Any programmer who sees is_available = false will know what it means, no need to do more Bringing in color indication I forgot about one thing: the ‘switches’ let’s call them so, may me important or not. So I have right now some of them that will show in green or red, this is for something global, like caching, which is shown as Caching is… ON with ‘ON’ written in green, (and ‘OFF’ in red when disabled) while the words about what it is, i.e. ‘Caching is… ’ are written in black. And some which are not so important, for example I haven’t defined REVEAL_TIES is… not set with ‘not set’ written in gray, while the words describing what it is stay in black. And if it would be set the whole phrase would be in black since there is nothing important: if this small utility for showing some undercover things is working, I will see some messages after it, if it isn’t — site will be working independently of its state. Dividing switches into important ones and not with corresponding color match should improve readability, especially for those users who are not programmers and just enabled debug mode because some guy from bugzilla said do that — for them it would help to understand what is important and what is not.

  • Java constructor and modify the object properties at runtime

    - by lupin
    Note: This is an assignment Hi, I have the following class/constructor. import java.io.*; class Set { public int numberOfElements = 0; public String[] setElements = new String[5]; public int maxNumberOfElements = 5; // constructor for our Set class public Set(int numberOfE, int setE, int maxNumberOfE) { int numberOfElements = numberOfE; String[] setElements = new String[setE]; int maxNumberOfElements = maxNumberOfE; } // Helper method to shorten/remove element of array since we're using basic array instead of ArrayList or HashSet from collection interface :( static String[] removeAt(int k, String[] arr) { final int L = arr.length; String[] ret = new String[L - 1]; System.arraycopy(arr, 0, ret, 0, k); System.arraycopy(arr, k + 1, ret, k, L - k - 1); return ret; } int findElement(String element) { int retval = 0; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if ( setElements[i] != null && setElements[i].equals(element) ) { return retval = i; } retval = -1; } return retval; } void add(String newValue) { int elem = findElement(newValue); if( numberOfElements < maxNumberOfElements && elem == -1 ) { setElements[numberOfElements] = newValue; numberOfElements++; } } int getLength() { if ( setElements != null ) { return setElements.length; } else { return 0; } } String[] emptySet() { setElements = new String[0]; return setElements; } Boolean isFull() { Boolean True = new Boolean(true); Boolean False = new Boolean(false); if ( setElements.length == maxNumberOfElements ){ return True; } else { return False; } } Boolean isEmpty() { Boolean True = new Boolean(true); Boolean False = new Boolean(false); if ( setElements.length == 0 ) { return True; } else { return False; } } void remove(String newValue) { for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if ( setElements[i].equals(newValue) ) { setElements = removeAt(i,setElements); } } } int isAMember(String element) { int retval = -1; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++ ) { if (setElements[i] != null && setElements[i].equals(element)) { return retval = i; } } return retval; } void printSet() { for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { System.out.println("Member elements on index: "+ i +" " + setElements[i]); } } String[] getMember() { String[] tempArray = new String[setElements.length]; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if(setElements[i] != null) { tempArray[i] = setElements[i]; } } return tempArray; } Set union(Set x, Set y) { String[] newXtemparray = new String[x.getLength()]; String[] newYtemparray = new String[y.getLength()]; Set temp = new Set(1,20,20); newXtemparray = x.getMember(); newYtemparray = x.getMember(); for(int i = 0; i < newXtemparray.length; i++) { temp.add(newYtemparray[i]); } for(int j = 0; j < newYtemparray.length; j++) { temp.add(newYtemparray[j]); } return temp; } } // This is the SetDemo class that will make use of our Set class class SetDemo { public static void main(String[] args) { //get input from keyboard BufferedReader keyboard; InputStreamReader reader; String temp = ""; reader = new InputStreamReader(System.in); keyboard = new BufferedReader(reader); try { System.out.println("Enter string element to be added" ); temp = keyboard.readLine( ); System.out.println("You entered " + temp ); } catch (IOException IOerr) { System.out.println("There was an error during input"); } /* ************************************************************************** * Test cases for our new created Set class. * ************************************************************************** */ Set setA = new Set(1,10,10); setA.add(temp); setA.add("b"); setA.add("b"); setA.add("hello"); setA.add("world"); setA.add("six"); setA.add("seven"); setA.add("b"); int size = setA.getLength(); System.out.println("Set size is: " + size ); Boolean isempty = setA.isEmpty(); System.out.println("Set is empty? " + isempty ); int ismember = setA.isAMember("sixb"); System.out.println("Element six is member of setA? " + ismember ); Boolean output = setA.isFull(); System.out.println("Set is full? Thanks in advance for any explaination. lupin

  • Byte array serialization in JSON.NET

    - by Daniel Earwicker
    Given this simple class: class HasBytes { public byte[] Bytes { get; set; } } I can round-trip it through JSON using JSON.NET such that the byte array is base-64 encoded: var bytes = new HasBytes { Bytes = new byte[] { 1, 2, 3, 4 } }; // turn it into a JSON string var json = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(bytes); // get back a new instance of HasBytes var result1 = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject<HasBytes>(json); // all is well Debug.Assert(bytes.Bytes.SequenceEqual(result1.Bytes)); But if I deserialize this-a-wise: var result2 = (HasBytes)new JsonSerializer().Deserialize( new JTokenReader( JToken.ReadFrom(new JsonTextReader( new StringReader(json)))), typeof(HasBytes)); ... it throws an exception, "Expected bytes but got string". What other options/flags/whatever would need to be added to the "complicated" version to make it properly decode the base-64 string to initialize the byte array? Obviously I'd prefer to use the simple version but I'm trying to work with a CouchDB wrapper library called Divan, which sadly uses the complicated version, with the responsibilities for tokenizing/deserializing widely separated, and I want to make the simplest possible patch to how it currently works.

  • Deserializing a complex JSON result (array of dictionaries) with TouchJSON

    - by jpm
    I did a few tests with TouchJSON last night and it worked pretty well in general for simple cases. I'm using the following code to read some JSON content from a file, and deserialize it: NSString *jsonString = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:@"data.json"]; NSData *jsonData = [jsonString dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF32BigEndianStringEncoding]; NSError *error = nil; NSDictionary *items = [[CJSONDeserializer deserializer] deserializeAsDictionary:jsonData error:&error]; NSLog(@"total items: %d", [items count]); NSLog(@"error: %@", [error localizedDescription]); That works fine if I have a very simple JSON object in the file (i.e. a dictionary): {"id": "54354", "name": "boohoo"} This way I was able to get access to the array of values, as I wanted to get the item based on its index within the list: NSArray *items_list = [items allValues]; NSString *name = [items_list objectAtIndex:1]; (I understand that I could have fetched the name with the dictionary API) Now I would like to deserialize a semi-complex JSON string, which represents an array of dictionaries. An example of such a JSON string is below: [{"id": "123456", "name": "touchjson"}, {"id": "3456", "name": "bleh"}] When I try to run the same code above against this new content in the data.json file, I don't get any results back. My NSLog() call says "total items: 0", and no error is coming back in the NSError object. Any clues on what is going on? I'm completely lost on what to do, as there isn't much documentation available for TouchJSON, and much less usage examples.

  • Problem converting a byte array into datatable.

    - by kranthi
    Hi, In my aspx page I have a HTML inputfile type which allows user to browse for a spreadsheet.Once the user choses the file to upload I want to read the content of the spreadsheet and store the content into mysql database table. I am using the following code to read the content of the uploaded file and convert it into a datatable in order into insert it into database table. if (filMyFile.PostedFile != null) { // Get a reference to PostedFile object HttpPostedFile myFile = filMyFile.PostedFile; // Get size of uploaded file int nFileLen = myFile.ContentLength; // make sure the size of the file is > 0 if (nFileLen > 0) { // Allocate a buffer for reading of the file byte[] myData = new byte[nFileLen]; // Read uploaded file from the Stream myFile.InputStream.Read(myData, 0, nFileLen); DataTable dt = new DataTable(); MemoryStream st = new MemoryStream(myData); st.Position = 0; System.Runtime.Serialization.IFormatter formatter = new System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter(); dt=(DataTable)formatter.Deserialize(st); } } But I am getting the following error when I am trying to deserialise the byte array into datatable. Binary stream '0' does not contain a valid BinaryHeader. Possible causes are invalid stream or object version change between serialization and deserialization. Could someone please tell me what am I doing wrong? I've also tried converting the bytearray into string ,then converting the string back to byte array and convert into datatable.That is also throwing the same error. Thanks.

  • facebook connect api "Cannot use string offset as an array in" error

    - by Rees
    Please help! I have been grappling with this error for days and I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I am using facebook connect and fetching a "contact_email" attribute using their api method users_getInfo. The issue is that when I execute this PHP file, i get this error: "Cannot use string offset as an array in...". This error specifically refers to this line of code: $firstName=$user_details[0]['contact_email']; I'm thinking this is because the user_getInfo method is not returning any results... However, the most ridiculous part about all this is that, I can execute the code below several dozens of times in a row SUCCESSFULLY without the above error, BUT THEN randomly without changing ANY code at all, I will suddenly encounter this error, in which case it will begin to give me an error several dozens of times, and then AGAIN without any code change, start executing successfully again. This odd behavior occurs regardless of the attribute i am fetching.. (contact_email, first_name, last_name, etc.). I am running php 5.2.11. Is there something I'm missing?? Please Help! include_once 'site/fbconnect/config.php'; //has $api_key and $secret defined. include_once 'site/facebook-platform/client/facebook.php'; global $api_key,$secret; $fb=new Facebook($api_key,$secret); $fb-require_login(); $fb_user=$fb-get_loggedin_user(); $user_details=$fb-api_client-users_getInfo($fb_user,array('last_name','first_name','contact_email')); $email=$user_details[0]['contact_email']; $firstName=$user_details[0]['first_name']; $lastName=$user_details[0]['last_name'];

  • Convert a (nested)HTML unordered list of links to PHP array of links

    - by Klark
    Hi, I have a regular, nested HTML unordered list of links, and I'd like to scrape it with PHP and convert it to an array. The original list looks something like this: <ul> <li><a href="http://someurl.com">First item</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://someotherurl.com/">Child of First Item</a></li> <li><a href="http://someotherurl.com/">Second Child of First Item</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="http://bogusurl.com">Second item</a></li> <li><a href="http://bogusurl.com">Third item</a></li> <li><a href="http://bogusurl.com">Fourth item</a></li> </ul> Any of the items can have children. (The actual screen scraping is not a problem, I can do that.) I'd like to turn this into a PHP array, of just the links, while keeping the hierarchical nature of the list. Any ideas? I've looked at using htmlsimpledom and phpQuery, which both use jQuery like syntax. But, I can't seem to get the syntax right. Thanks.

  • Puppet: array in parameterized classes VS using resources

    - by Luke404
    I have some use cases where I want to define multiple similar resources that should end up in a single file (via a template). As an example I'm trying to write a puppet module that will let me manage the mapping between MAC addresses and network interface names (writing udev's persistent-net-rules file from puppet), but there are also many other similar usage cases. I searched around and found that it could be done with the new parameterised classes syntax: if implemented that way it should end up being used like this: node { "myserver.example.com": class { "network::iftab": interfaces => { "eth0" => { "mac" => "ab:cd:ef:98:76:54" } "eth1" => { "mac" => "98:76:de:ad:be:ef" } } } } Not too bad, I agree, but it would rapidly explode when you manage more complex stuff (think network configurations like in this module or any other multiple-complex-resources-in-a-single-config-file stuff). In a similar question on SF someone suggested using Pienaar's puppet-concat module but I doubt it could get any better than parameterised classes. What would be really cool and clean in the configuration definition would be something like the included host type, it's usage is simple, pretty and clean and naturally maps to multiple resources that will end up being configured in a single place. Transposed to my example it would be like: node { "myserver.example.com": interface { "eth0": "mac" => "ab:cd:ef:98:76:54", "foo" => "bar", "asd" => "lol", "eth1": "mac" => "98:76:de:ad:be:ef", "foo" => "rab", "asd" => "olo", } } ...that looks much better to my eyes, even with 3x options to each resource. Should I really be passing arrays to parameterised classes, or there is a better way to do this kind of stuff? Is there some accepted consensus in the puppet [users|developers] community? By the way, I'm referring to the latest stable release of the 2.7 branch and I am not interested in compatibility with older versions.

  • Delete array of size 1

    - by Arne
    This is possibly a candidate for a one-line answer. I would like know it anyway.. I am writing a simple circular buffer and for some reasons that are not important for the question I need to implement it using an array of doubles. In fact I have not investiated other ways to do it, but since an array is required anyway I have not spent much time on looking for alternatives. template<typename T> class CircularBuffer { public: CircularBuffer(unsigned int size); ~CircularBuffer(); void Resize(unsigned int new_size); ... private: T* buffer; unsigned int buffer_size; }; Since I need to have the buffer dynamically sized the buffer_size is neither const nor a template parameter. Now the question: During construction and in function Resize(int) I only require the size to be at least one, although a buffer of size one is effectively no longer a buffer. Of course using a simple double instead would be more appropriate but anyway. Now when deleting the internal buffer in the destructor - or in function resize for that matter - I need to delete the allocated memory. Question is, how? First candidate is of course delete[] buffer; but then again, if I have allocated a buffer of size one, that is if the pointer was aquired with buffer = new T[0], is it still appropriate to call delete[] on the pointer or do I need to call delete buffer; (without brackets) ? Thanks, Arne

  • Array of paths to html lists

    - by dmsk
    I wrote a recursive function, which returns an array with the paths to all files/folders in a given path. An array is already sorted and returns the exact information i want, but i struggle to display it properly in html lists. Array_of_paths = ( [0] => /path/to/folderA/ [1] => /path/to/folderA/subfolderAA/ [2] => /path/to/folderB/ [3] => /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/ [4] => /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/fileBB.txt [5] => /path/to/folderB/fileB.txt [6] => /path/to/folderC/ ... ) I want to put these paths in <ul>,<li> tags to see something like this: <ul> <li>/path/to/folderA/ <ul> <li>/path/to/folderA/folderAA/</li> </ul> </li> <li>/path/to/folderB <ul> <li>/path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/ <ul> <li>/path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/fileBB.txt</li> </ul> </li> <li>/path/to/folderB/fileB.txt</li> </ul> </li> <li>/path/to/folderC/</li> </ul> = /path/to/folderA/ /path/to/folderA/folderAA/ /path/to/folderB /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/ /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/fileBB.txt /path/to/folderB/fileB.txt /path/to/folderC/ I managed to find a couple of similars questions, but the answers were in Ruby language. So, what's the problem solving idea behind this?

  • Implementing arrays using a stack

    - by Zack
    My programming language has no arrays, no lists, no pointers, no eval and no variable variables. All it has: Ordinary variables like you know them from most programming languages: They all have an exact name and a value. One stack. Functions provided are: push (add element to top), pop (remove element from top, get value) and empty (check if stack is empty) My language is turing-complete. (Basic arithmetics, conditional jumps, etc implemented) That means, it must be possible to implement some sort of list or array, right? But I have no idea how... What I want to achieve: Create a function which can retrieve and/or change an element x of the stack. I could easily add this function in the implementation of my language, in the interpreter, but I want to do it in my programming language. "Solution" one (Accessing an element x, counting from the stack top) Create a loop. Pop off the element from the stack top x times. The last element popped of is element number x. I end up with a destroyed stack. Solution two: Do the same as above, but store all popped off values in a second stack. Then you could move all elements back after you are done. But you know what? I don't have a second stack!

  • how to return multiple array items using json/jquery

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys, quick question, I have a query that will usually return multiple results from a database, while I know how to return one result, I am not sure how to return multiple in jquery. I just want to take each of the returned results and run them through my prepare function. I have been trying to use 'for' to handle the array of data but I don't think it can work since I am returning different array values. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. JQUERY RETRIEVAL for(i=0; i < json.rows; i++) { $('#users_online').append(online_users(json[i])); $('#online_list-' + count2).fadeIn(1500); } PHP PROCESSING $qryuserscount1="SELECT active_users.username,COUNT(scrusersonline.id) AS rows FROM scrusersonline LEFT JOIN active_users ON scrusersonline.id=active_users.id WHERE topic_id='$topic_id'"; $userscount1=mysql_query($qryuserscount1); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($userscount1)) { $onlineuser= $row['username']; $rows=$row['rows']; if ($username==$onlineuser){ $str2= "<a href=\"statistics.php?user=$onlineuser\"><div class=\"me\">$onlineuser</div></a>"; } else { $str2= "<b><a href=\"statistics.php?user=$onlineuser\"><div class=\"others\">$onlineuser</div></a></b>"; } $data['rows']=$rows; $data['entry']=$str1.$str2; }

  • Use jquery to create a multidimensional array

    - by Simon M White
    I'd like to use jquery and a multidemensional array to show a random quote plus the name of the individual who wrote it as a separate item. I'll then be able to use css to style them differently. The quote will change upon page refresh. So far i have this code which combines the quote and the name and person who wrote it: $(document).ready(function(){ var myQuotes = new Array(); myQuotes[0] = "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Donec in tortor mauris. Peter Jones, Dragons Den"; myQuotes[1] = "Curabitur interdum, nibh et fringilla facilisis, lacus ipsum pulvinar mauris, eu facilisis justo arcu eget diam. Duis id sagittis elit. Theo Pathetis, Dragons Den"; myQuotes[2] = "Vivamus purus purus, tincidunt et porttitor et, euismod sit amet urna. Etiam sollicitudin eros nec metus pretium scelerisque. James Caan, Dragons Den"; var myRandom = Math.floor(Math.random()*myQuotes.length); $('.quote-holder blockquote span').html(myQuotes[myRandom]); }); any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I've a ProLiant DL580 G7 server that experienced a storage subsystem failure during production. The system appeared available and responded to pings, but all I/O access stalled (the system load must have been 100+). The ASR did not trigger at the specified watchdog timeout. I had to force a reboot from the ILO. During POST, I received the following error: A controller failure event occurred prior to this power-up. (Previous lock up code = 0x11) I haven't pulled the ADU report yet, but I'm curious as to what this error actually means. I was not responsible for the the installation, but can see that the firmware is very old. But if there's anything else I should know about the error, I'd like to know for the post-mortem report. edit - I should add that the server had 95 days of uptime prior to the lock up.

  • Sorting an array of Doubles with NaN in it

    - by Agent Worm
    This is more of a 'Can you explain this' type of question than it is anything else. I came across a problem at work where we were using NaN values in a table, but when the table was sorted, it came out in a very strange, strange manner. I figured NaN was mucking up something so I wrote up a test application to see if this is true. This is what I did. static void Main(string[] args) { double[] someArray = { 4.0, 2.0, double.NaN, 1.0, 5.0, 3.0, double.NaN, 10.0, 9.0, 8.0 }; foreach (double db in someArray) { Console.WriteLine(db); } Array.Sort(someArray); Console.WriteLine("\n\n"); foreach (double db in someArray) { Console.WriteLine(db); } Console.ReadLine(); } Which gave the result: Before: 4,2,NaN,1,5,3,NaN,10,9,8 After: 1,4,NaN,2,3,5,8,9,10,NaN So yes, the NaN some how made the sorted array to be sorted in a strange way. To quote Fry; "Why is those things?"

  • Hibernate bit array to entity mapping

    - by teabot
    I am trying to map a normalized Java model to a legacy database schema using Hibernate 3.5. One particular table encodes a foreign keys in a one-to-many relationship as a bit array column. Consider tables 'person' and 'clubs' that describes people's affiliations to clubs: person .----.------. club: .----.---------.---------------------------. | id | name | | id | name | members | binary(members) | |----+------| |----+---------|---------+-----------------| | 1 | Bob | | 10 | Cricket | 0 | 000 | | 2 | Joe | | 11 | Tennis | 5 | 101 | | 3 | Sue | | 12 | Cooking | 7 | 111 | '----'------' | 13 | Golf | 3 | 100 | '----'---------'---------'-----------------' So hopefully it is clear that person.id is used as the bit index in the bit array club.members. In this example the members column tells us that: no one is a member of Cricket, Bob/Sue - Tennis, Bob/Sue/Joe - Cooking and Sue - Golf. In my Java domain I'd like to declare this with entities like so: class Person { private int id; private String name; ... } class Club { private Set<Person> members; private int id; private String name; ... } I am assuming that I must use a UserType implementation but have been unable to find any examples where the items described by the user type are references to entities - not literal field values - or composites thereof. Additionally I am aware that I'll have to consider how the person entities are fetched when a club instance is loaded. Can anyone tell me how I can tame this legacy schema with Hibernate?

  • obj-c problem setting array with componentsSeperatedByString

    - by Brodie4598
    I have a data source with about 2000 lines that look like the following: 6712,Anaktuvuk Pass Airport,Anaktuvuk Pass,United States,AKP,PAKP,68.1336,-151.743,2103,-9,A What I am interested in is the 6th section of this string so I want to turn it into an array, then i want to check the 6th section [5] for an occurrance of that string "PAKP" Code: NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *airportsPath = [bundle pathForResource:@"airports" ofType:@"dat"]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:airportsPath]; NSString *dataString = [[[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] autorelease]; NSArray *dataArray = [dataString componentsSeparatedByString:@"\n"]; NSRange locationOfAirport; NSString *workingString = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@""]; NSString *searchedAirport = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@""]; NSString *airportData = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@""]; int d; for (d=0; d < [dataArray count]; d=d+1) { workingString = [dataArray objectAtIndex:d]; testTextBox = workingString; //works correctly NSArray *workingArray = [workingString componentsSeparatedByString:@","]; testTextBox2 = [workingArray objectAtIndex: 0]; //correctly displays the first section "6712" testTextBox3 = [workingArray objectAtIndex:1] //throws exception index beyond bounds locationOfAirport = [[workingArray objectAtIndex:5] rangeOfString:@"PAKP"]; } the problem is that when the workingArray populates, it only populates with a single object (the first component of the string which is "6712". If i have it display the workingString, it correctly displays the entire string, but for some reason, it isn't correctly making the array using the commas. i tried it without using the data file and it worked fine, so the problem comes from how I am importing the data. ideas?

  • [javascript - jQuery] creating nested array's on the fly

    - by adardesign
    What i am trying to do is to loop this HTML and get an nested array of this HTML values that i want to grab. This script is just part of a whole function. html <div class="configureData"> <div title="Large"> <a href="yellow" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku22828"></a> <a href="green" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku224438"></a> <a href="Blue" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku22222"></a> </div> <div title="Large"> <a href="yellow" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku22828"></a> <a href="green" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku224438"></a> <a href="Blue" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku22222"></a> </div> <div title="Large"> <a href="yellow" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku22828"></a> <a href="green" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku224438"></a> <a href="Blue" title="true" rel="$55.00" name="sku22222"></a> </div> </div> javascript // this is part of a script..... parseData:function(dH){ dH.find(".configureData div").each(function(indA, eleA){ colorNSize.tempSizeArray[indA] = [eleA.title,[],[],[],[]] $(eleZ).find("a").each(function(indB, eleB){ colorNSize.tempSizeArray[indA][indB+1] = eleC.title }) }) }, I expect the end array should look like this. [ ["large", ["yellow", "green", "blue"], ["true", "true", "true"], ["$55", "$55","$55"] ], ["Medium", ["yellow", "green", "blue"], ["true", "true", "true"], ["$55", "$55","$55"] ] ] // and so on....

  • PHP Variable with Array

    - by Crays
    Hi guys, i'm trying to make a "update user's power" page. It is something similar to those you can find in say, invisionfree forums. I need it to generate a list of members with checkbox [done] Add an option for it [done] What i don't know how to do is to update, to say, give all the selected users the selected power. Then i went searching for something and found most of them uses array to do this, but i never found one that actually explains how it works. The example i took (with my own modification) was this: while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo '<tr>'.$id[]=$rows['id'].''; echo '<td width="50px" align="center" class="TableFormCell"><input type="checkbox" name="option[]" /></td>'; echo '<td width="170px" align="center" class="TableFormCell">'.$row['uname'].'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; } I'm not sure what exactly $id[]=$rows['id'] does I know after the row, my option[] would become an array of option[1], option[2], option[3] for what power should be given, i've got no problem with that but on how to update the database i'm got no clue... for($i=0;$i<$count;$i++){ $sql1="UPDATE ninos SET power='$power' WHERE id='$option[$i]'"; $result1=mysql_query($sql1); } So Say i have 5 users, Aye, Bee, Cee, Dee, Eee with IDs of 1,2,3,4,5 how can i make it so that my script would run like $sql1="UPDATE ninos SET power = '$power' Where id='1','2','3','4','5'"; Please help, thanks.

  • jquery filter .not()

    - by FFish
    I have a form with image thumbnails to select with checkboxes for downloading. I want an array with the images in jQuery for an Ajax call. 2 questions: - On the top of the table there is a checkbox to toggle all checkboxes that I want to exclude from the mapping. I had a look at jQuery's .not() but I can't implement it with the :checkbox selector - is the following example code correct? $(document).ready(function() { $('#myform').submit(function() { var images = $("input:checkbox", this).map(function() { return $(this).attr("name"); }).get().join(); alert(products); // outputs: ",check1,check2,check3" return false; // cancel submit action by returning false }); }); // end doc ready HTML: <form id="myform" action="" > <input type="checkbox" id="toggleCheck" onclick="toggleSelectAll()" checked="checked" ><br /> <input type="checkbox" name="001.jpg" checked="checked" /><br /> <input type="checkbox" name="002.jpg" checked="checked" /><br /> <input type="checkbox" name="003.jpg" checked="checked" /><br /> <br /> <input type="submit" value="download" > </form>

  • Perl to Ruby conversion (multidimensional arrays)

    - by Alex
    I'm just trying to get my head around a multidimensional array creation from a perl script i'm currently converting to Ruby, I have 0 experience in Perl, as in i opened my first Perl script this morning. Here is the original loop: my $tl = {}; for my $zoom ($zoommin..$zoommax) { my $txmin = lon2tilex($lonmin, $zoom); my $txmax = lon2tilex($lonmax, $zoom); # Note that y=0 is near lat=+85.0511 and y=max is near # lat=-85.0511, so lat2tiley is monotonically decreasing. my $tymin = lat2tiley($latmax, $zoom); my $tymax = lat2tiley($latmin, $zoom); my $ntx = $txmax - $txmin + 1; my $nty = $tymax - $tymin + 1; printf "Schedule %d (%d x %d) tiles for zoom level %d for download ...\n", $ntx*$nty, $ntx, $nty, $zoom unless $opt{quiet}; $tl->{$zoom} = []; for my $tx ($txmin..$txmax) { for my $ty ($tymin..$tymax) { push @{$tl->{$zoom}}, { xyz => [ $tx, $ty, $zoom ] }; } } } and what i have so far in Ruby: tl = [] for zoom in zoommin..zoommax txmin = cm.tiles.xtile(lonmin,zoom) txmax = cm.tiles.xtile(lonmax,zoom) tymin = cm.tiles.ytile(latmax,zoom) tymax = cm.tiles.ytile(latmin,zoom) ntx = txmax - txmin + 1 nty = tymax - tymin + 1 tl[zoom] = [] for tx in txmin..txmax for ty in tymin..tymax tl[zoom] << xyz = [tx,ty,zoom] puts tl end end end The part i'm unsure of is nested right at the root of the loops, push @{$tl->{$zoom}},{ xyz => [ $tx, $ty, $zoom ] }; I'm sure this will be very simple for a seasoned Perl programmer, thanks! `
