  • Python: Dynamic attribute name generation without exec() or eval()

    Hi, I'm trying to dynamically create buttons at runtime with PyQT4.7 However, this being my first python program I'm not sure how to get the functionality I want. I would like to be able to substitute a text string for an attribute name: i.e. for each in xrange(4): myname = "tab1_button%s" % each #tab1_button0, tab1_button1, tab1_button2 #self.ui.tab1_button0 = QtGui.QPushButton(self.ui.tab) <--normal code to create a named button setattr(self.ui,myname,QtGui.QPushButton(self.ui.tab)) #rewrite of line above to dynamicly generate a button #here's where I get stuck. this code isn't valid, but it shows what i want to do self.ui.gridLayout.addWidget(self.ui.%s) % myname #I need to have %s be tab1_button1, tab1_button2, etc. I know the % is for string substituion but how can I substitute the dynamically generated attribute name into that statement? I assume there's a basica language construct I'm missing that allows this. Since it's my first program, please take it easy on me ;)

  • SDL_BlitSurface() not displaying image?

    So I'm trying to display a simply image with the SDL library, but when I use the function SDL_BlitSurface() nothing happens, and all I get is a black screen.   • Adding additional components to a web page after rendering by Wicket

    I have a requirement to create a web page using Wicket 1.5, which can present a variable number of panels to capture user input. All the panels have the same structure. The page would start off with one panel, and includes a button to dynamically add more as required. So the number of panels is unknown at the time the page is initially rendered. Effectively I'd be altering the structure of the page dynamically. This is possible in Javascript, using document.addElement() I've done a similar thing in the past by creating all the components on page load, and selectively showing/hiding components. The difference here is that the number of components (panels) is initially unknown. I'm unsure as to how this would be achieved with Wicket.

    does anyone know or predict how facebook's iphone app architecture could look like? More specific to what could be built into the app (client) what could be rendered on demand? Do you think the main menu layout of the app (where all the navigation buttons are there) are on the client or being rendered dynamically? Similarly apps like NYTimes or US News, what portion is done on the client and what is rendered dynamically. What could be the best way to render things on-demand. Would it be ok to use to UIWebView and render most of the app in it? A quick overview would help. Thank you!

    Hi, In an application harvesting (many) RSS feeds, I want to dynamically schedule the feed downloaders based on the following criteria: The speed at which content are generated - source which produce content at a higher rate need to be visited more often. After downloading a feed, its content is analyzed and based on the current rate of publication the next run time is determined for the feed. Note that this is dynamically changing. Sometimes a feed is very active and sometimes it is slow. Every RSS feed should be visited at least once an hour. While the second one is done by most schedulers but the first one is more problematic. What JAVA-based open source scheduler would you recommend for the task? (and why ;) ) Thanks! Boaz

    I'm dynamically storing information in the database depending on the request: // table, id and column are provided by the request table_obj = getattr(models, table) record = table_obj.objects.get(pk=id) setattr(record, column, request.POST['value']) The problem is that request.POST['value'] sometimes contains a foreign record's primary key (i.e. an integer) whereas Django expects the column's value to be an object of type ForeignModel: Cannot assign "u'122'": "ModelA.b" must be a "ModelB" instance. Now, is there an elegant way to dynamically check whether b is a column containing foreign keys and what model these keys are linked to? (So that I can load the foreign record by it's primary key and assign it to ModelA?) Or doesn't Django provide information like this to the programmer so I really have to get my hands dirty and use isinstance() on the foreign-key column?

  • Is there a recommended approach to handle saving data in response to within-site navigation without

    Hello all, Preamble to scope my question: I have a web app (or site, this is an internal LAN site) that uses jQuery and AJAX extensively to dynamically load the content section of the UI in the browser. A user navigates the app using a navigation menu. Clicking an item in the navigation menu makes an AJAX call to php, and php then returns the content that is used to populate the central content section. One of the pages served back by php has a table form, set up like a spreadsheet, that the user enters values into. This table is always kept in sync with data in the database. So, when the table is created, is it populated with the relevant database data. Then when the user makes a change in a "cell", that change immediately is written back to the database so the table and database are always in sync. This approach was take to reassure users that the data they entered has been saved (long story...), and to alleviate them from having to click a save button of some kind. So, this always in sync idea is great, except that a user can enter a value in a cell, not take focus out of the cell, and then take any number of actions that would cause that last value to be lost: e.g. navigate to another section of the site via the navigation menu, log out of the app, close the browser, etc. End of preamble, on to the issue: I initially thought that wasn't a problem, because I would just track what data was "dirty" or not saved, and then in the onunload event I would do a final write to the database. Herein lies the rub: because of my clever (or not so clever, not sure) use of AJAX and dynamically loading the content section, the user never actually leaves the original url, or page, when the above actions are taken, with the exception of closing the browser. Therefore, the onunload event does not fire, and I am back to losing the last data again. My question, is there a recommended way to handle figuring out if a person is navigating away from a "section" of your app when content is dynamically loaded this way? I can come up with a solution I think, that involves globals and tracking the currently viewed page, but I thought I would check if there might be a more elegant solution out there, or a change I could make in my design, that would make this work.     I am working on creating a simple iPhone app that plays a movie via URL. When I Build&Run to test in the simulator, it works fine; as soon as I start playing the movie, I get the following message in the console: [1757:4b03] Cannot find executable for CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x820ffe0 </Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/iSightAudio.plugin> (not loaded) [1757:4b03] Cannot find function pointer iSightAudioNewPlugIn for factory 9BE7661E-8AEF-11D7-8692-000A959F49B0 in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x820ffe0 </Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/iSightAudio.plugin> (not loaded) I don't get this error on other programs, so I assume it has something to do with this specific program, which uses the MediaPlayer.framework. Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how to fix it? Thank you

  • Linenumber for Exception thrown in runtime-compiled DotNET code

    Not quite the same as this thread, but pretty close. My program allows people to enter some VB or C# code which gets compiled, loaded and executed at runtime. My CompilerParams are: CompilerParameters params = new CompilerParameters(); params.GenerateExecutable = false; params.GenerateInMemory = true; params.IncludeDebugInformation = false; params.TreatWarningsAsErrors = false; params.WarningLevel = 4; When this code throws an exception I'd like to be able to display a message box that helps users debug their code. The exception message is easy, but the line-number is where I got stuck. I suspect that in order to get at the line number, I may need to drastically change the CompilerParameters and perhaps even the way these dlls get stored/loaded. Does anyone know the least steps needed to get this to work?

  • Passing objects to a UITypeEditor

    I am currently hoping to use a PropertyGrid to allow users to edit some of my classes, however I've hit a wall with passing objects to the UITypeEditor(s) they use. When the user presses the drop down I want to show a listbox of already loaded textures to choose from, if they want to use a texture the application hasn't loaded yet they can click a button to choose one from a file dialog. In case I make no sense here a mock of the form: . My problem: To fill the listbox I need access to the class that manages the list of resources from the UITypeEditor. Now I've solved this problem for my own classes by giving them a reference on creation to their managing object. In the UITypeEditor I then use that reference to access what I need. However I can't do this for classes I haven't written, such as the XNA Texture2D class. Here are what the classes I'm using look like: class StaticGeometryChunk { // Geometry data to draw with. Contains a reference to its managing // class for use in its UITypeEditor. public GeometryData { get; set; } .... } class Material { // These are XNA classes. I can't just add a reference to its managing // class (I think?). public Texture2D Texture1 { get; set; } public Texture2D Texture2 { get; set; } .... } I've been looking at my options and they seem to be: Make the managing classes static. I don't really want to do this. There are several managing classes as each resource is loaded differently. There are also classes that need to be created before these and are passed in. Make the managing classes singletons. I don't really want to do this either. It seems like a quick and dirty way to "hide" the problem instead of "solve" it. I also might want the option of having several managing classes in the future which the singletons eliminate. Create a wrapper class which holds the reference to a managing class and its target (such as the XNA Texture2D). This is currently what I'm thinking of doing. Its would be quite simple and quick to do but something about it nags me but I don't know what. Any thoughts on the above or other methods to pass what I need into the UITypeEditor? I have included the files with the following: %w{ models controllers helpers views }.each do |dir| path = File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__), 'app', dir) $LOAD_PATH << path ActiveSupport::Dependencies.load_paths << path ActiveSupport::Dependencies.load_once_paths.delete(path) end The Models are getting loaded, but as for other things I'm not sure what's going on. The helpers are not getting loaded too because I just copied the contents of the partial from the plugin instead of the render :partial = and then it came up with a helper error. Question is how to be able to :render :partial = from the views folder in my plugin

  • Need help with video streaming with web-embedded Windows Media Player Component

    Hello, I need to be able to play a .wmv video in a Windows Media Player component on a web page starting at a particular specified point in the video right away. I can embed the component and play the video. The problem is that even if I specify the location with The PARAM “currentPosition”, the video starts to play from the beginning. This appears to be because the requested position in the video has not been loaded yet. If I wait until the video has been loaded to the requested position and refresh the page, it will then play from the requested position. It seems that the video must start loading from the requested position in order to start right away. If this is the correct way, how would I go about doing it? If it is not, what is the proper way to do it? It can obviously be done, because YouTube’s players work like this. Thank you,

    I'm working on a project where we mix .NET code and native C++ code via a C++/CLI layer. In this solution I want to use Thread Local Storage via the __declspec(thread) declaration: __declspec(thread) int lastId = 0; However, at the first access of the variable, I get a NullReferenceException. To be more precise, the declaration is done within a ref class (a .NET class implemented in C++/CLI). I have already read something about __declspec(thread) does not work with delay loaded DLLs. Am I using delay loaded DLLs automatically if I use .NET?

    Hello all, I have this extension method for cloning my LINQ To SQL objects: public static T CloneObjectGraph<T>(this T obj) where T : class { var serializer = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(T), null, int.MaxValue, false, true, null); using (var ms = new System.IO.MemoryStream()) { serializer.WriteObject(ms, obj); ms.Position = 0; return (T)serializer.ReadObject(ms); } } But while i carry objects with not all references loaded, while qyuerying with DataLoadOptions, sometimes it throws the object disposed exception, but thing is I don't ask for references that is not loaded (null). e.g. I have Customer with many references and i just need to carry on memory the Address reference EntityRef< and i don't Load anything else. But while i clone the object this exception forces me to load all the EntitySet< references with the Customer object, which might be too much and slow down the application speed. Any suggestions?

But I have a modal/popup box which has some elements also having ".elem_class" and these dont get in the scope of findAll/each as they are loaded into the dom thru ajax. How do I apply the same to dynamically loaded elements as well? I am using Prototype Library. (I have used JQuery's Live function which keeps track of all future elements, but need to achieve something similar using Prototype) Thanks.

    To use the web service that is part of an SSRS installation, it seems that you need to add a web reference to your project so that you can call it etc (see one of my previous questions). But if I needed to call the web service for different SSRS installations then i need to keep adding extra web references. My asp.net application currently displays reports from several different SSRS installations, not just a single server... Is there a way to either dynamically add the web reference or to dynamically change the server address of where the web service is located?

    Hi all - when I look up the syntax for .data(), it gives examples like this: $('body').data('foo', 52); I am doing AJAX loads and I was wondering if it is possible to store the incoming html using .data() so once the content is loaded, I would not need to do another AJAX load if the same link is clicked again - I would check to see if the .data key is empty. Would something like this work?: To load the contents of a #ajaxdiv into storage: $('body').data('storage', div#ajaxdiv.html()); To test if the data has already been loaded: if $('body').data('storage') != '' { div#ajaxdiv.html($('body').data('storage')); } Thanks in advance!!     In my ASP.NET page I have to dynamically choose and load a custom control, depending on the selected value in a dropdownlist.However I encountered the following problem: When the parameters of the dynamically loaded control are changed, and then the selection in the dropdownlist is changed( thus forcing me to load a different dynamic control the next time the page reloads ), I end up with a "Cannot load ViewState" exception.I assume that this happens because the ViewState is trying to restore the parameters of the old control and it doesn't find it. So , is there any way to stop the viewstate from attempting to restore the state of the non-existig control?

    I am having some issues finding a decent tutorial for generating a loading style screen with regards to HTML5. To be quite honest I'm not sure exactly where to begin... My project is essentially a simple HTML5 game, where I'll be loading in various sprite sheets and tilesets. They'll be reasonably small, but I'd like to show a little loading spinner instead of a blank screen while all the resources are loaded. Much appreciated if somebody could point me in the right direction, be it decent links or code samples to get me going...my Google-fu is lacking today! For clarification, I need to figure out how to load the resources themselves, as opposed to finding a spinner. For instance, how to calculate that X% has loaded.

    Hey guys, I've a website with a lot of images: <img class='thumb' src=thumbs/image1.jpg/> <img class='thumb' src=thumbs/image2.jpg/> <img class='thumb' src=thumbs/image3.jpg/> <img class='thumb' src=thumbs/image4.jpg/> I wonder if I can display a loading-div for every single image and when it's loaded the div hides? I'm using jquery for most of my animations. Can i solve that with jquery. It would be cool if every image shows this loading-div centered in the middle of the image. When the image is loaded the div should hide! Is that possible? Thank you for your help!

(I say unknown object type because I am not sure what direction to go) Once I have the data loaded I need to do some processing on certain elements that are now loaded into the new object. For sake of example, we can say that the xml file is full of elements named and within the car element I need to process the element.
