  • jQuery Accordion + Anchor Tag 'stuck as block' bug?

    - by DA
    Sample page: http://jsbin.com/ohuze/2 This is a simple jQuery UI Accordion. Each accordion panel has an UL (an OL works the same) with this markup: <ol> <li><a href="">Lorep ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor</a>?</li> <li><a href="">Lorep ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor</a>?</li> </ol> In IE6, you'll see that the <a> tag appears to be getting rendered as a block element, so the question mark ends up being pushed outside and not at the end of the line of text. In addition, the bullet and/or list item number is now bottom-aligned with the text rather than top-aligned. I've narrowed it down to the javascript that executes to make the accordion. It's not an issue with jQuery's CSS as disabling that, alone, doesn't resolve the issue. Anyone know what might be going on in IE6 to cause this rendering issue? UPDATE: Apparently, this is also an IE7 issue. UPDATE 2: After some more playing, I've narrowed things down a bit more: the bug has nothing to do with lists. The issue is any anchor tag within a jQuery Accordion will appear as display: block (even though it appears that the CSS still indicates display: inline) the bug has nothing to do with the actual CSS that jQuery UI uses to create the accordion. I created a test page that uses the fully rendered jQuery Accordion post-processed source code and the accompanying CSS. In that situation, the anchor tags remain inline. In conclusion: It appears that the process of rendering the accordion via javascript is messing up the display of the anchor tags. It may be a show/hide issue?

  • Jquery UI Datepicker disabling wrong days

    - by Nazariy
    I have run in to issue that days that have to be disabled are shifted to the next day. The idea is that day that does not exist in our booking object or have a value less than 1 should be disabled on calendar. here is simplified version of my script and demonstration on jsfiddle: var bookings = { "2012-09-01": 24, "2012-09-03": 31, "2012-09-05": 27, "2012-09-06": 9, "2012-09-07": 18, "2012-09-08": 0, "2012-09-10": 20, "2012-09-12": 19, "2012-09-13": 0, "2012-09-14": 9, "2012-09-15": 24, "2012-09-17": 19, "2012-09-19": 28, "2012-09-20": 15, "2012-09-21": 12, "2012-09-22": 25, "2012-09-24": 19, "2012-09-26": 0, "2012-09-27": 0, "2012-09-28": 0, "2012-09-29": 0 }; function MyEvent(date) { bookings = bookings || {}; this.date = date.toISOString().substr(0, 10); this.display = (typeof bookings[this.date] == 'number' && bookings[this.date] > 0); return this; } MyEvent.prototype.toArray = function () { return [this.display, null, null]; }; $(function () { $('#eventCalendar').datepicker({ dateFormat: "yy-mm-dd", firstDay: 1, defaultDate: "2012-09-24", beforeShowDay: function (date) { return new MyEvent(date).toArray(); } } ); }); Can some one suggest me what am I doing wrong or is it a bug?

  • Why does jQuery do this in its constructor function implementation?

    - by mattcodes
    If we look at the latest jQuery source at http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js we see the following: var jQuery = function( selector, context ) { // The jQuery object is actually just the init constructor 'enhanced' return new jQuery.fn.init( selector, context ); } My understanding of the new keyword in Javascript is essentially JavaScript passes the function an empty object {} and the function sets stuff on it via this.blah. Also from my understanding new differs from .call/.apply etc.. in that the return object also has the prototype set to that of the function. So the return value should have a prototype that the same as jQuery.prototype.init.prototype (or jQuery.fn.init.prototype). However from what I see its prototype is set to jQuery.prototype thus all the commands available to work on the set. Why is this? What am I missing in my understanding?

  • Razor View Engine and jQuery

    - by rjovic
    Hi, does anybody know how to force Razor View engine to print exact line which is under foreach loop. Code follows : @section head{ <script type="text/javascript" src="@Url.Content("~/Content/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js")"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="@Url.Content("~/Content/Scripts/jquery.progressbar.min.js")"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { @foreach(var player in Model) { jQuery("#pb@PlayerID").progressBar(); } }); </script> } I tried using $() and jQuery() but in both case razor don't know what to do. Is there any way to force him to print exact this : jQuery("#pb@PlayerID").progressBar(); . I want to have something like this : $(document).ready(function() { $("#pb1").progressBar(); $("#pb2").progressBar(); $("#pb3").progressBar(); }); Thank you in advance!

  • How to get the handler position

    - by Geetha
    Hi All, I am using the following files to create a slider. <link type="text/css" href="CSS/demos.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <link type="text/css" href="CSS/jquery-ui.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.ui.core.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.ui.slider.js"></script> Problem: i want to get the index of the handler, when i drag it to some other position. Ex: initial position of the handler: l-------------------------------- value = 0 After dragging it some other position ----------------------l---------- value = ? Code: var endTime = document.mediaPlayer.SelectionEnd; $("#slider-constraints").slider({ animate: true, max: endTime, range: $R(0, endTime), value: 1, enforceConstraints: false, start: function(event, index) { alert(index.value); } }); window.setInterval(function() { $('#slider-constraints').slider("value", document.mediaPlayer.currentPosition); }, 4000);

  • How to get the text of a div which is not a part of any other container in JQuery?

    - by Raja
    This should be real easy. Given below is the HTML. <div id='attachmentContainer'> #Attachment# <span id='spnAttachmentName' class='hidden'>#AttachmentName#</span> <span id='spnAttachmentPath' class='hidden'>#AttachmentPath#</span> </div> I want to get just the #Attachment# and not the other text. When I tried $("#attachmentContainer").text() it gives out all #Attachment#, #AttachmentName# as well as #AttachmentPath#. I know I could just put #Attachment# into another span and access it directly but I was just intrigued on how to do this. Any help is much appreciated.

  • jquery find() - how to exclude certain descendants, and their children?

    - by jammypeach
    I have markup similar to this: <div class='wrapper plugin'> //some content <div class='child-wrapper plugin'> //some more content <div> <ul> <li><div class='cliky'>clicky!</div></li> </ul> </div> </div> <div class='cliky'>clicky!</div> </div> I need to be able to select the first .clicky div only, not any .clicky divs inside a .plugin > .plugin div. The wrapper has .plugin class too - might seem counter-intuitive so another way to view it is this: I want to get the .clicky children of a given .plugin div, but not .plugin .plugin .clicky. Here's the problem - the depth of each .clicky element (or indeed, the number of them) is unknown and variable in relation to the wrappers. One could be immediately below the first wrapper, or inside 10 <ul>s. I've tried selectors like: $('.wrapper').find('.clicky').not('.plugin > .clicky'); But they still selected child .clicky. How would I be able to filter out .plugin and any children of .plugin from my selector before using find()?

  • Turn off Jquery UI Accordion animation only during page load

    - by Matt H
    I'd like to turn off the accordian animation during page load, and then turn it back on after the page is loaded. Basically I've got multiple forms inside the accordion sections and when submitted the page gets reloaded and the relevant section is reloaded. But during the reload the animation is triggered which looks a little ugly. But I like it when the page is not being loaded. How do I achieve this effect?

  • General approach for posting business logic status messages to UI?

    - by generalt
    Hello all. I have been struggling with this question for awhile now, and I haven't reached a conclusion. I'm not typically a UI programmer, so forgive the noobishness. I'm writing a typical application with a UI layer (WPF) and a business layer. I want to post status messages to the UI from the business layer (perhaps deep within the business layer), but I don't want the business layer to have any knowledge of the UI. Is there a generally accepted pattern for this? I was thinking to have a message queue of some sort to which the business layer posts status messages, and have the view model of the UI subscribe to that queue and intercept messages from the queue and route them to the UI. Is that a good approach? Is there somewhere else I should start? Thank you.

  • jQuery UI: moving items from one list to another

    - by AnC
    While this should be relatively straightforward, I can't figure out how to move (rather than copy) LI elements between ULs. All I want is to drag any item from list foo to list bar (or vice versa) without duplicating the element. While connectToSortable does almost exactly what I want (though I'd prefer to avoid sortable), it clones the element - and manually removing the original element by reacting to the stop event turns out to be not so easy (e.g. ensuring that a valid drop actually happened). A simple "hello world" example would help me greatly.

    - by Sullan
    Hi All.. I am comparing between two tables first column each. If there is find a match i am copying the text from the adjacent cell of the first table to the second table. I am able to compare strings and get the value, but finding it difficult to print it in the second table. I am getting the value in the var "replaceText", but how to print it in the second table ?? Please help... Sample code is as follows.. <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery.noConflict(); jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('.itemname').each(function(){ var itemName = jQuery(this).text(); jQuery('.comparerow').each(function() { var compareRow = jQuery(this).text(); if (itemName == compareRow) { var replaceText = jQuery(this).next('td').text(); alert(replaceText); } }); }); }); </script> HTML is as follows <table width="100%"><thead> <tr> <th align="left" >Name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead> <tbody> <tr> <td class="comparerow">IX0001</td> <td class="desc">Desc 1 </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="comparerow">IX0002</td> <td class="desc" >Desc 2 </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="comparerow">IX0003</td> <td class="desc">Desc 3 </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="comparerow">IX0004</td> <td class="desc">Desc 4 </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <br /> <table width="100%"> <tr> <th>Name</th><th>Description</th> </tr> <tr > <td class="itemname">IX0001</td><td></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="itemname">IX0002</td><td></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="itemname">IX0003</td><td></td> </tr> </table>

  • Is there a way to bypass the jQuery error handler?

    - by oravecz
    If my Ajax call returns a successful result, but while processing the result I cause an exception, the error handler fires. This seems counter intuitive to me as I think the error handler should only fire when an error occurs as a result of making the Ajax call or via a server-side error. I am trying to use the Ajax function in a unit test so I would like to tell the difference between the two different failure scenarios.

  • Async data loading with WCF service with UI capabilities

    - by Jojo
    I'm working on complex user control(with Telerik components). I'm trying to implement following functionality: Typing some text in RadTextBox(let say: "Hello.txt"). Clicking on Button "Check". onClientClick for button "Check" will call WCF method with parameters. Let say that this request/response will take more that 10 seconds, meanwhile I'll see loading image near TextBox AND the most important, I can continue to work on other fields. When WCF service responses UI will be updated with the result. Thanks in advance

  • jQuery: What does (function($) {})(jQuery); mean?

    - by Legend
    I am just starting out with writing jQuery plugins. I wrote three small plugins but I have been simply copying the line into all my plugins without actually knowing what it means. Can someone tell me a little more about these? What does this do? (I know it extends jQuery somehow but is there anything else interesting to know about this) (function($) { })(jQuery); What is the difference between the following two ways of writing a plugin: Type 1: (function($) { $.fn.jPluginName = { }, $.fn.jPluginName.defaults = { } })(jQuery); Type 2: (function($) { $.jPluginName = { } })(jQuery); I could be way off here and maybe both mean the same thing. In some cases, this doesn't seem to be working in a plugin that I was writing using Type 1. Any idea why? But in either case, I would appreciate any explanation.

  • Jquery Resizable Image size issue

    - by alex
    Image size is not automatically detected when using jquery resizable. Both Firefox and IE displays the image much smaller, and chrome show nothing at all. I can't seem to find a direct answer to this issue. • jQuery: how to find first visible input/select/textarea excluding buttons?

    - by Artem
    I tried $(":input:not(input[type=button],input[type=submit],button):visible:first") but it doesn't find anything. What is my mistake? UPD: I execute this on $(document).load() <script type="text/javascript"> $(window).load(function () { var aspForm = $("form#aspnetForm"); var firstInput = $(":input:not(input[type=button],input[type=submit],button):visible:first", aspForm); firstInput.focus(); }); </script> and in the debug I can see that firstInput is empty. UPD2: I'm in ASP.NET page running under Sharepoint. I've found so far that for some elements it does find them (for fixed ones) and for some don't. :(

  • jQuery slider onChange auto submit form

    - by bikey77
    I'm using a jQuery slider as a price range selector in a form. I'd like to have the form submit automatically when one of the values has been changed. I used a couple of examples I found on SO but they didn't work with my code. <form action="itemlist.php" method="post" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" name="priceform" id="priceform" target="_self"> <div id="slider-holder"> Prices: From <span id="pricefromlabel">100 &#8364;</span> To <span id="pricetolabel">500 &#8364;</span> <input type="hidden" id="pricefrom" name="pricefrom" value="100" /> <input type="hidden" id="priceto" name="priceto" value="500" /> <div id="slider-range"></div> <input name="Search" type="submit" value="Search" /> </div> </form> This is the code that displays the values of the slider and updates 2 hidden form fields I use to store the prices in order to submit: <script> $(function() { $("#slider-range" ).slider({ range: true, min: 0, max: 1000, values: [ <?=$minprice?>, <?=$maxprice?> ], start: function (event, ui) { event.stopPropagation(); }, slide: function( event, ui ) { $( "#pricefrom" ).val(ui.values[0]); $( "#priceto" ).val(ui.values[1]); $( "#pricefromlabel" ).html(ui.values[0] + ' &euro;'); $( "#pricetolabel" ).html(ui.values[1] + ' &euro;'); } }); return false; }); </script> I've tried adding this code as well as an data-autosubmit="true" attribute to the div but no result. $(function() { $('[data-autosubmit="true"]').change(function() { parentForm = $(this).('#priceform'); clearTimeout(submitTimeout); submitTimeout = setTimeout(function() { parentForm.submit() }, 100); }); I've also tried adding a $.post() event to the slider but I'm not very good with jQuery so I'm probably doing it wrong. Any help will be appreciated.

  • jquery-ui - position of a list item when starting drag and drop?

    - by user246114
    Hi, I am using the jquery-ui library. I have two sortables. I want to know the index of the dragged source item. I have something like this: $(function() { $("#sortable1, #sortable2").sortable({ connectWith: '.connectedSortable' }).disableSelection(); $("#sortable1").sortable({ start: function(event, ui) { alert(ui.position); } }); }); if I'm reading the docs correctly, then ui.position should be what I want?: ui.position - current position of the helper but when I jsut try printing it: alert(ui.position) it seems to be empty. I am doing all of this in an attempt to emulate cloning. docs: http://jqueryui.com/demos/sortable/#event-activate Thanks

  • JQuery: How to apply css to a .wrap element?

    - by Eamonn
    My code thus far: $(".lorem img:not(.full-img)").each(function() { $(this).addClass("inline-img"); var imgWidth = $(this).prop('width'); var imgHeight = $(this).prop('height'); var imgFloat = $(this).prop('float'); $(this).wrap('<div class="inline-img-wrap" />'); if ($(this).prop("title")!='') { $('<p class="inline-img-caption">').text($(this).prop('title')).insertAfter($(this)); } }); I am searching for images within a body of text, appending their title values as captions underneath, and wrapping both img and p in a div.inline-img-wrap. That works fine. What I need help with is applying the styling of the img to the new wrapping div instead. You can see I have created vars for just this, but cannot get applying them to work. $this will always apply to the image, and <div class="inline-img-wrap" style="width:'+imgWidth+'"> doesn't work. All advice appreciated!
