    Dear all, I have a piece of code like this: Class Program { static StreamReader sr = null; static int var=0; static Program() { sr = new StreamReader("input.txt") } ~Program() { sr.Dispose(); } static void main(string args[]) { //do something with input here } } This may not be a good practice, but I just want to use this example to ask how the deconstructor and GC works. My question is: Will ~Program() get called at a non-determined time or it won't be called at all in this case. If the deconstructor won't get called, then how GC collect the unmanaged resources and managed resources. Thank you very much!

    I'm working with an existing project that produces a dynamic library (Cocoa API). I'd rather generate a static library, but if I change the [Linking|Mach-O Type] field from "Dynamic Library" to "Static Library", both the Clean Project and Build Project complain that the target has an invalid MACH_O_TYPE value of 'staticlib'. Is there a straightforward way to get the build to produce a static .a file? Thanks, Eric

For example if I have a HttpUtils class with a number of static methods, should I be trying to pass it to other business logic classes via IOC? Follow on questions for this might be: Q2: Singletons - What about things like logging where you may typically get access to it via a Logger.getInstance() type call. Would you normally leave this as is, and NOT use IOC for injecting the logger into business classes that need it? Q3: Static Classes - I haven't really used this concept, but are there any guidelines for how you'd typically handle this if you were moving to an IOC based approach. Thanks in advance.

  • How do you make a static sprite be a child of another sprite in cocos2D while using SpaceManager

    I have two static (STATIC_MASS) SpaceManager sprites. One is a child of the other - by which I mean that one sort of builds up the other one, but although the child's images shows up in the right place, the child doesn't seem to exists in the chipmunk physics engine, like I would expect. In my case, I have a backboard (rectangular sprite) and a hoop (a circular sprite). Since I might want to move the backboard, I'd like to attach the hoop to backboard so that the hoop automatically moves right along with the backboard. Here, we see a rotating backboard with attached hoop. It looks OK on the screen, but other objects only bounce off the backboard but pass right through the hoop (in a bad sense of the term).     A friend of mine asked to create a static website and I found that making such site using Sinatra is a pure joy. I just wrote all my routes like this: get '/index.html' do haml :index end get '/app.css' do sass :app end .... So I was able to use layouts, and haml and sass to put site together quickly. To create the static site I used wget -r -l2 http://localhost:4567 Which did work pretty well, but I imagine there is a better way to create a static site from a Sinatra code?

  • Why can't I have static public fields in my managed beans?

    I just started using the Netbeans 7.1 beta and it is calling out errors of a type which I have never seen before. Specifically: A managed bean with a public field should not declare any scope other than @Dependent. The fields it is complaining about are public static final. I can understand the restriction on non-static fields, but I can't think of a good reason this would not be allowed for a static field. Unfortunately I use a lot of them since I don't like having constants in my code. I note that even though I get the red dot in the margin in the editor, the maven-driven build still works and GlassFish still runs my application the way I would expect. So what is my denoument on this issue? Am I going to have to move my static fields elsewhere or is there another way of handling this?

I make the further distinction that in Java, every interface is public and abstract, whether this is explicitly declared or not. Aren't const's effectively static in nature? WHy does C# balk at this?

    Hi Why inheritance is not provided for static classes in C#? I know C# has a good reason for everything he implements or doesn't implement. I just wondered, what’s that “good reason” here? semantically, what would be happened if I was able to write a static class that inheritances from another static one? is this an ODD issue? or just programming?
