• Incompatible library creating new project with Aptana

  I am a ruby and rails newbie, so my abilities to debug this are somewhat limited. I have just added the eclipse plugin which failed, then downloaded the latest aptana studio which also failed. The failure was the same in both cases. The nature of the failure is that when I create a new rails project, I get an error message about an incompatible library version "C:/Ruby193/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/mongrel-1.1.5-x86-mswin32-60/lib/http11.so". The project is actually created, along with directories and files. Google searches around this error message have only returned a couple of hits, which were not very helpful I am wondering if this is about 64 bit libraries. • UIbutton stretchable

• Best Practices for Working with Multiple Monitors in Visual Studio 2010

  Now that Visual Studio 2010 has support for multiple monitors, I am curious how other people have their environments arranged. I have yet to come up with an arrangement that I am really satisfied with. The current best I have come up with for my 2 monitor system is to have all code windows detached. Then, on my primary monitor, I am able to have two code windows side by side (using the Windows 7 keyboard shortcuts WinKey+LeftArrow and WinKey+RightArrow.) On my secondary monitor I put the rest of the IDE with all of the tool windows that are normally on the bottom (errors list, find window, call stack, etc...) docked where the code windows normally go. I've also tried having all those things detached and having almost nothing in the IDE proper. The problems with this layout are: Newly opened code windows always open in the IDE, not on top of one of the detached windows. Detached code windows do not remember their exact placement from session to session (they are slightly off, having me to use the winkey + arrow key shortcut again and again for each window. There seems to be no way to have the code panes aware that they are on top of one another (IE -- multiple tabs.) The CTRL+TAB shortcut always displays on top of the IDE proper. The Code Panes are always "on top" of (children of) the IDE. So clicking on any code pane brings the IDE to the foreground, even when I care only about that code pane, and not the IDE. Other more minor issues... What would go a long way to making this better is having the code panes detach such that they are tab strips that can have other code panes docked within them. The new multi-monitor support in VS2010 is good, but it still seems really lacking. Can these issues be solved with an add-in? If so, is anyone aware of one? Is there a better way to work with the IDE on multiple monitors than what I am doing? NOTE: While this question is subjective (there is certainly no "this is the best way and that's final" answer) I'd really like to know possibly better methods of working with the IDE than what I have come up with. The intent is not to start a "mine's best" flame war.

• Why doesn't the .click() not work in this instance?

  Basically what this does is fadeIn pre-existing divs and then loads an image. When the image is loaded it then appends that into one of the pre-existing divs. Then it appends a new div with an id of xButton. Then later it $('#xButton').click() should hide the 3 divs. However it just doesn't work. If I change the click() to either #modalImage or #overlay, it works but just not for the #xButton. I would really like to figure out why its not working and how I should be doing this instead. • jQuery UI problem: why do the elements go flying around the screen?

  Yes, I know the title sounds a little suspicious. I will try to explain this the best I can... The code below is supposed to have the blue div slide down beside the red div. The first time you hit the Show the div button, it works. Also, the Hide the div works. Then when I click to show the div again, it appears to the right of where it is supposed to be! Why is this?!? • JQuery - .position isn't returning offset relative to parent.

  I'm using .position to find the offset of where the element is relative to the parent, however it seems to be returning a value that is the offset from some parent up the ancestor tree. I have a button, and its wrapped withing a div and its the only element of that div. The div is floated right. .position is returning a value like {left:780, top:370}, when the true value should be around {left:200, top:0}. I'm using jquery 1.4

  Hi im having a few problems rotating a string, i found that you need graphics.rotate() but when i change the rotation, i cannot even see the string. It appears the pivot point has completely thrown me. Also i saw an example with transform but i decided i did not need this?   The problem is every time a tab is activated, the cursor jumps to the top of the page, since the tab link points to a div and the page scrolls up to the top of the div. This creates a jumpy effect if the user has scrolled down a bit, while reading tab content. Is there anyway to prevent this?

  I want to implement a collapsible menu. I plan to use table component to simulate a menu, and nest a sub table into a table cell to simulate a sub menu. Other browsers will calculate the offset base on the level 2 menu, that works as expected. Is it a bug in Firefox? If so how can I work around it? I want my code to have the same behavior in all major browsers.

• What's causing this background-image to display "incorrectly" in Opera and Firefox?

  I know this is something I'm probably doing wrong, so please don't incinerate me for the thread title. I'm trying to put together a small personal website using HTML 5/CSS3. I've checked with the w3c validator and the site and CSS file fully conform according to the validator (However the validator has a warning attached that it might not be perfect). I'm not sure how to explain it without a picture, so here's a comparison of Chrome/Opera/Firefox: So, you can sorta see how in Chrome the background image is in one non-repeating piece, whereas in Opera/Firefox the image has, oddly, been broken up and placed slightly differently. I'm confident this is due to an error on my part, but I've had no luck at all figuring out why the image is being mangled in Opera and Firefox.
