  • Casting of interfaces

    - by Srinivas Reddy Thatiparthy
interfaces provide a useful abstraction capability. One can have a class Foo implement some interfaces, say A, B, and C. Some client code may get a reference of type A, others one of type B, etc. each actually the same Foo object but the interface exposing only a narrow subset of the functionality. Of course, evil client code can try to cast the A reference to Foo, then access the other functionality. How to prevent this?

  • How to setup ASP.NET Ajax Library and WCF Data Services

    - by Jronny
I was following http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee336022.aspx but there were js errors. for example Sys is undefined So I added http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/act/40412/start.js. Then Sys.Data is undefined So I added http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/act/40412/MicrosoftAjaxDataContext.debug.js. But then TypeError: Sys.Data.OpenDataContext is not a constructor What shall I do to be able to call the service the way they do it on the first link? What are the scripts and resources needed? Thanks a lot.

I'm having issues getting a small spirit/qi grammar to compile. i am using boost 1.43 and g++ 4.4.1. the input grammar header: inputGrammar.h #include <boost/config/warning_disable.hpp> #include - by Pete Nelson
We have some banner ads linking to an article in Joomla and they are passing a reference code in the URL, like this: index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=378&Itemid=249&ReferenceCode=WB6074 Inside the article, we're linking to a signup form on another web site and we need to pass the reference code in that URL's querystring. How do I do this? Is there a way to embed PHP in an article? If so, then I could just use $_GET["ReferenceCode"] to stick that parameter in the URL.

  • Resharper Question

    - by bmw0128
I just started using VS2008 and Resharper. I have a line: Microsoft.Office.Server.Diagnostics.PortalLog.LogString("*** BOO Feature activating ***"); VS shows "Office" as red b/c it cannot resolve symbol "Office". Can I make Resharper just add the reference automatically, or do I need to manually surf to the reference and add it?

  • Android AsyncTask context problem, help!

    - by dnkoutso
I've been working with AsyncTasks in Android and I am dealing with a strange issue. Take a simple example, an Activity with one AsyncTask. The task on the background does not do anything spectacular, it just sleeps for 8 seconds. At the end of the AsyncTask in the onPostExecute() method I am just setting a button visibility status to View.VISIBLE, only to verify my results. Now, this works great until the user decides to change his phones orientation while the AsyncTask is working (within the 8 second sleep window). I understand the Android activity life cycle and I know the activity gets destroyed and recreated. This is where the problem comes in. The AsyncTask is referring to a button and apparently holds a reference to the context that started the AsyncTask in the first place. I would expect, that this old context (since the user caused an orientation change) to either become null and the AsyncTask to throw an NPE for the reference to the button it is trying to make visible. Instead, no NPE is thrown, the asynctask thinks that the button reference is not null, sets it to visible. The result? Nothing is happening on the screen! I have tackled this by keeping and updating the context reference into the AsyncTask. This is cumbersome and prone to leaks. Here's the code: public class Main extends Activity { private Button mButton = null; private Button mTestButton = null; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); mButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btnStart); mButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener () { @Override public void onClick(View v) { new taskDoSomething().execute(0l); } }); mTestButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btnTest); } private class taskDoSomething extends AsyncTask<Long, Integer, Integer> { @Override protected Integer doInBackground(Long... params) { Log.i("LOGGER", "Starting..."); try { Thread.sleep(8000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return 0; } @Override protected void onPostExecute(Integer result) { Log.i("LOGGER", "...Done"); mTestButton.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); } } } Try executing and while the AsyncTask is working change your phones orientation.

  • dojo/dijit ContentPane setting content

    - by Kitson
I am trying append some XML retrieved via a dojo.XHRGet to a dijit.layout.ContentPane. Everything works ok in Firefox (3.6) but in Chrome, I only get back 'undefined' in the particular ContentPane. My code looks something like this: var cp = dijit.byId("mapDetailsPane"); cp.destroyDescendants(); // there are some existing Widgets/content I want to clear // and replace with the new content var xhrData = { url : "getsomexml.php", handleAs: "xml", preventCache: true, failOk: true }; var deferred = new dojo.xhrGet(xhrData); deferred.addCallback(function(data) { console.log(data.firstChild); // get a DOM object in both Firebug // and Chrome Dev Tools cp.attr("content",data.firstChild); // get the XML appended to the doc in Firefox, // but "undefined" in Chrome }); Because in both browsers I get back a valid Document object I know XHRGet is working fine, but there seems to be some sort of difference in how the content is being set. Is there a better way to handle the return data from the request? There was a request to see my XML, so here is part of it... <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <svg xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" version="1.1" width="672" height="1674"> <defs> <style type="text/css"> <![CDATA[ ...bunch of CSS... ]]> </style> <marker refX="0" refY="0" orient="auto" id="A00End" style="overflow: visible;"> ...bunch more defs... </defs> <g id="endpoints"> ...bunch of SVG with a some... <a xlink:href="javascript:gotoLogLine(16423,55);" xlink:type="simple">...more svg...</a> </g> </svg> I have run the output XML trough the WC3 validator for XML to verify it is valid. Like I said before, works in FireFox 3.6. I tried it on Safari and I got the same "undefined" so it seems to be related to Webkit.

  • PHP throws 'Allowed memory exhausted' errors while migrating data in Drupal.

    - by Stan
I'm trying to setup a tiny sandbox on a local machine to play around with Drupal. I created a few CCK types; in order to create a few nodes I wrote the following script: chdir('C:\..\drupal'); require_once '.\includes\bootstrap.inc'; drupal_bootstrap(DRUPAL_BOOTSTRAP_FULL); module_load_include('inc', 'node', 'node.pages'); $node = array('type' => 'my_type'); $link = mysql_connect(..); mysql_select_db('my_db'); $query_bldg = ' SELECT stuff FROM table LIMIT 10 '; $result = mysql_query($query_bldg); while ($row = mysql_fetch_object($result)) { $form_state = array(); $form_state['values']['name'] = 'admin'; $form_state['values']['status'] = 1; $form_state['values']['op'] = t('Save'); $form_state['values']['title'] = $row->val_a; $form_state['values']['my_field'][0]['value'] = $row->val_b; ## About another dozen or so of similar assignments... drupal_execute('node_form', $form_state, (object)$node); } Here are a few relevant lines from php_errors.log: [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Notice: Undefined index: REMOTE_ADDR in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 1299 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Notice: Undefined index: REMOTE_ADDR in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 1299 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc:1299) in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 1143 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc:1299) in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 1143 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc:1299) in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 709 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc:1299) in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 710 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc:1299) in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 711 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc:1299) in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 712 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:47] PHP Notice: Undefined index: REMOTE_ADDR in C:\..\drupal\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 1299 [12-Jun-2010 05:02:48] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 239075328 bytes exhau sted (tried to allocate 261904 bytes) in C:\..\drupal\includes\form.inc on line 488 [12-Jun-2010 05:03:22] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 239075328 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261904 bytes) in C:\..\drupal\includes\form.inc on line 488 [12-Jun-2010 05:04:34] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261904 bytes) in Unknown on line 0 At this point any action php takes results in the last error shown above. • PHP: Can pcntl_alarm() and socket_select() peacefully exist in the same thread?

    - by DWilliams
I have a PHP CLI script mostly written that functions as a chat server for chat clients to connect to (don't ask me why I'm doing it in PHP, thats another story haha). My script utilizes the socket_select() function to hang execution until something happens on a socket, at which point it wakes up, processes the event, and waits until the next event. Now, there are some routine tasks that I need performed every 30 seconds or so (check of tempbanned users should be unbanned, save user databases, other assorted things). From what I can tell, PHP doesn't have very great multi-threading support at all. My first thought was to compare a timestamp every time the socket generates an event and gets the program flowing again, but this is very inconsistent since the server could very well sit idle for hours and not have any of my cleanup routines executed. I came across the PHP pcntl extensions, and it lets me use assign a time interval for SIGALRM to get sent and a function get executed every time it's sent. This seems like the ideal solution to my problem, however pcntl_alarm() and socket_select() clash with each other pretty bad. Every time SIGALRM is triggered, all sorts of crazy things happen to my socket control code. My program is fairly lengthy so I can't post it all here, but it shouldn't matter since I don't believe I'm doing anything wrong code-wise. My question is: Is there any way for a SIGALRM to be handled in the same thread as a waiting socket_select()? If so, how? If not, what are my alternatives here? Here's some output from my program. My alarm function simply outputs "Tick!" whenever it's called to make it easy to tell when stuff is happening. This is the output (including errors) after allowing it to tick 4 times (there were no actual attempts at connecting to the server despite what it says): [05-28-10 @ 20:01:05] Chat server started on 192.168.1.28 port 4050 [05-28-10 @ 20:01:05] Loaded 2 users from file PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 0 in /home/danny/projects/PHPChatServ/ChatServ.php on line 112 PHP Warning: socket_select(): unable to select [4]: Interrupted system call in /home/danny/projects/PHPChatServ/ChatServ.php on line 116 [05-28-10 @ 20:01:15] Tick! • Does RVM "failover" to another ruby instance on error?

    - by JohnMetta
Have a strange problem in that I have a Rake task that seems to be using multiple versions of Ruby. When one fails, it seems to try another one. Details MacBook running 10.6.5 rvm 1.1.0 Rubies: 1.8.7-p302, ree-1.8.7-2010.02, ruby-1.9.2-p0 Rake 0.8.7 Gem 1.3.7 Veewee (provisioning Virtual Machines using Opcode.com, Vagrant and Chef) I'm not entirely sure the specific details of the error matter, but since it might be an issue with Veewee itself. So, what I'm trying to do is build a new box base on a veewee definition. The command fails with an error about a missing method- but what's interesting is how it fails. Errors I managed to figure out that if I only have one Ruby installed with RVM, it just fails. If I have more than one Ruby install, it fails at the same place, but execution seems to continue in another interpreter. Here are two different clipped console outputs. I've clipped them for size. The full outputs of each error are available as a gist. One Ruby version installed Here is the command run when I only have a single version of Ruby (1.8.7) available in RVM boudica:veewee john$ rvm rake build['mettabox'] --trace rvm 1.1.0 by Wayne E. Prior to doing this, I used "rvm use 1.8.7." Again, I don't know how important the details of the specific errors are- what's interesting to me is that there are three separate errors- each with it's own stacktrace- and each in a different Ruby interpreter. Look at the bottom of each stacktrace and you'll see that they are all sourced from different interpreter locations- First ree-1.8.7, then ruby-1.8.7, then ruby-1.9.2: boudica:veewee john$ rvm rake build['mettabox'] --trace rvm 1.1.0 by Wayne E. Discussion Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Has anyone seen this "failover"-like behavior before? It seems strange to me that the first exception would not halt execution as it did with one interpreter, but I wonder if there are things happening when RVM is installed that we Ruby developers are not considering.

  • Cannot add Silverlight Maps Control to Windows Mobile 7 application

    - by Jacob
I know the bits just came out today, but one of the first things I want to do with the newly released Windows Mobile 7 SDK is put a map up on the screen and mess around. I've downloaded the latest version of the Silverlight Maps Control and added the references to my application. As a matter of fact, the VS 2010 design view of the MainPage.xaml shows the map control after adding the namespace and placing the control. I'm using the provided VS 2010 Express version that comes with the Win Mobile 7 SDK and have just used the New Project - Windows Phone Application template. When I try to build I get two warnings related to the Microsoft.Maps.MapControl dll's. Warning 1 The primary reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the framework assembly "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e" which could not be resolved in the currently targeted framework. To resolve this problem, either remove the reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" or retarget your application to a framework version which contains "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e". Warning 2 The primary reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.Common, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the framework assembly "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e" which could not be resolved in the currently targeted framework. I'm leaning towards some way of adding the System.Windows.Browser to the targeted framework version. But I'm not even sure if that is possible. To be more specific; I'm looking for a way to get the Silverlight Maps Control up on a Windows Phone 7 series application. If possible. Thanks.

  • How to tell Java SAX Parser to ignore invalid character references?

    - by Epaga
When trying to parse incorrect XML with a character reference such as &#x1, Java's SAX Parser dies a horrible death with a fatal error such as org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Character reference "&#x1" is an invalid XML character. Is there any way around this? Will I have to clean up the XML file before I hand it off to the SAX Parser? If so, is there an elegant way of going about this?

Is there any way to use just the name of DLL in mono?

  • Is One Tool or a Suite of Tools Better for Scrum?

    - by Rob Wells
G'day, Edit: We've been using Scrum very successfully for several years on several projects of varying sizes. In fact, our team developed the successful iPlayer project for the BBC using a classical Scrum approach. After using various combinations of tools, some high-tech, some low-tech, across these projects we now wish to try adopting a suitable tool suite. Our manager is to some extent attempting to force the adoption of a single suite of tools for Scrum. I've looked at the SO question "Best Scrum tools" and most people seem to recommend either: a suite of low-tech solutions, e.g. whiteboards, post-its, index cards, etc., or a monolithic tool that tries to satisfy as much as possible of the process, e.g. Agilo, Mingle, ScrumWorks, Target Process, etc. Our team is currently evaluating several different Scrum tools. However, we are looking at selecting a single, monolithic tool, e.g. Agilo. All of the "one-stop" solutions have their strengths and weaknesses with the serious enterprise type solutions being the best sort of fit. But all have some short comings. After reading the paper "Peer Code Review: An Agile Process" over at SmartBear I started wondering if we were trying to force adoption of a tool on a "best fit" basis. I think you can take a couple of reference artefacts of the Scrum development process, say user stories, epics and themes, and the code base which must use a well-known SCM, e.g. SVN, Hg, etc. Then if we take that as the common reference points for the tools employed then we would be able to use a group of tools to handle the different aspects of the Scrum process rather than try forcing a fit of a single tool would is a bit like forcing a square peg into the round hole. In this way, providing you've agreed your common reference points, you can use several tools, each performing their role better than a could be done by a single component in a monolithic tool suite. Is this a more sensible approach? Are the two reference points I mentioned above suitable, or is their a better choice of points where the tools would meet? cheers,

  • Problem with jQuery selector and MasterPage

    - by Daemon
Hi, I have a problem with a master page containing a asp:textbox that I'm trying to access using jQuery. I have read lot sof thread regarding this and tried all the different approaches I have seen, but regardless, the end result end up as Undefined. This is the relevant part of the MasterPage code: <p><asp:Label ID="Label1" AssociatedControlID="osxinputfrom" runat="server">Navn</asp:Label><asp:TextBox CssClass="osxinputform" ID="osxinputfrom" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></p> When I click the button, the following code from a jQuery .js file is run: show: function(d) { $('#osx-modal-content .osxsubmitbutton').click(function (e) { e.preventDefault(); if (OSX.validate()){ $('#osx-modal-data').fadeOut(200); d.container.animate( {height:80}, 500, function () { $('#osx-modal-data').html("<h2>Sender...</h2>").fadeIn(250, function () { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Default.aspx/GetDate", data: "{'from':'" + $("#osxinputfrom").val() + "','mailaddress':'" + $("#osxinputmail").val() + "','header':'Test3','message':'Test4'}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(msg) { $('#osx-modal-data').fadeOut(200, function () { $('#osx-modal-data').html('<h2>Meldingen er sendt!</h2>'); $('#osx-modal-data').fadeIn(200); }); }, error: function(msg){ $('#osx-modal-data').fadeOut(200, function () { $('#osx-modal-data').html('<h2>Feil oppstod ved sending av melding!</h2>'); $('#osx-modal-data').fadeIn(200); }); } }); }); } ); } else{ $('#osxinputstatus').fadeOut(250, function () { $('#osxinputstatus').html('<p id="osxinputstatus">' + OSX.message + '</a>'); $('#osxinputstatus').fadeIn(250); }); } }); }, So the problem here is that $("#osxinputfrom").val() evaluated to Undefined. I understand that the masterpage will add some prefix to the ID, so I tried using the ID from the page when it's run that ends up as ct100_osxinputfrom, and I also tried some other hinds that I found while searching like $("#<%=osxinputfrom.ClientID%"), but it ends up as Undefined in the method that is called from the jQuery ajax method anyway. The third and fourth parameters to the ajay function that is hardcoded as Test3 and Test4 comes fine in the C# backend method. So my question is simply: How can I rewrite the jQuery selector to fetch the correct value from the textbox? (before I used master pages it worked fine by the way) Best regards Daemon

  • kernelHow to read/write files within kernel module?

    - by Methos
I know all the discussions about why one should not read/write files from kernel, instead how to use /proc or netlink to do that. I want to read/write anyway. I have also read http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8110 However, problem is 2.6.30 does not export sys_read(). Rather its wrapped in SYSCALL_DEFINE3. So if I use that in my module, I get following warnings: WARNING: "sys_read" [xxx.ko] undefined! WARNING: "sys_open" [xxx.ko] undefined! Obviously insmod cannot load the module because linking does not happen correctly. Questions: How to read/write within kernel after 2.6.22 (where sys_read()/sys_open() are not exported)? In general, how to use system calls wrapped in macro SYSCALL_DEFINEn() from within the kernel?

  • Ejabberd clustering problem with amazon EC2 server

    - by user353362
Hello Guys! I have been trying to install ejabberd server on Amazons EC2 instance. I am kinds a stuck at this step right now. I am following this guide: http://tdewolf.blogspot.com/2009/07/clustering-ejabberd-nodes-using-mnes... From the guide I have sucessfully completed the Set up First Node (on ejabberd1) part. But am stuck in part 4 of Set up Second Node (on ejabberd2) So all in all, I created the main node and am able to run the server on that node and access its admin console from then internet. In the second node I have installed ejabberd. But I am stuck at point 4 of setting up the node instruction presented in this blog (http://tdewolf.blogspot.com/2009/07/clustering-ejabberd-nodes-using-mnes...). I execute this command " erl -sname ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14 -mnesia dir '"/var/lib/ejabberd/"' -mnesia extra_db_nodes "['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-02-C8-36']" -s mnesia " on the second server and get a crashing error: root@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14:/var/lib/ejabberd# erl -sname ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14 -mnesia dir '"/var/lib/ejabberd/"' -mnesia extra_db_nodes "['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-02-C8-36']" -s mnesia {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},"Protocol: ~p: register error: ~p~n",["inet_tcp",{{badmatch,{error,duplicate_name}},[{inet_tcp_dist,listen,1},{net_kernel,start_protos,4},{net_kernel,start_protos,3},{net_kernel,init_node,2},{net_kernel,init,1},{gen_server,init_it,6},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},crash_report,[[{pid,<0.21.0},{registered_name,net_kernel},{error_info,{exit,{error,badarg},[{gen_server,init_it,6},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}},{initial_call,{net_kernel,init,['Argument__1']}},{ancestors,[net_sup,kernel_sup,<0.8.0]},{messages,[]},{links,[#Port<0.52,<0.18.0]},{dictionary,[{longnames,false}]},{trap_exit,true},{status,running},{heap_size,610},{stack_size,23},{reductions,518}],[]]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},supervisor_report,[{supervisor,{local,net_sup}},{errorContext,start_error},{reason,{'EXIT',nodistribution}},{offender,[{pid,undefined},{name,net_kernel},{mfa,{net_kernel,start_link,[['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14',shortnames]]}},{restart_type,permanent},{shutdown,2000},{child_type,worker}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},supervisor_report,[{supervisor,{local,kernel_sup}},{errorContext,start_error},{reason,shutdown},{offender,[{pid,undefined},{name,net_sup},{mfa,{erl_distribution,start_link,[]}},{restart_type,permanent},{shutdown,infinity},{child_type,supervisor}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},crash_report,[[{pid,<0.7.0},{registered_name,[]},{error_info,{exit,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}},[{application_master,init,4},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}},{initial_call,{application_master,init,['Argument_1','Argument_2','Argument_3','Argument_4']}},{ancestors,[<0.6.0]},{messages,[{'EXIT',<0.8.0,normal}]},{links,[<0.6.0,<0.5.0]},{dictionary,[]},{trap_exit,true},{status,running},{heap_size,233},{stack_size,23},{reductions,123}],[]]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},std_info,[{application,kernel},{exited,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}},{type,permanent}]} {"Kernel pid terminated",application_controller,"{application_start_failure,kernel,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}}"} Crash dump was written to: erl_crash.dump Kernel pid terminated (application_controller) ({application_start_failure,kernel,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}}) root@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14:/var/lib/ejabberd# any idea what going on?
