• Firefox doesn't display text on webpage.

  hello, I was successful in displaying text on webpage but in firefox, it does not display the text at all. If i see the page source, it has text in there. but why doesn't it display? In Chrome and IE, it works fine. Edit: When i used firebug, it looks like the content is behind the screen. I just guess. • [C#] Creating standalone, console (shell) for domain-specific operations

  Say that I have a system service, and I want to offer a low-level maintenance access to it. For that purpose, I'd like to create a standalone, console application that somehow connects to server process and lets user type in commands, allow it to use auto-completion and auto-suggestion on single/double TAB press (just like linux bash shell, mysql cli, cmd.exe, and countless others), allow command line editing capabilities (history, cursor keys to move around text..), etc. Now, it's not that much of a problem to create something like that by rolling my own from scratch, handling user input, scanning pressed keys, and doing correct actions. But, why reinvent the wheel? Is there some library/framework that helps with this kind of problems, just like readline library that offers improved command-line editing capabilities under linux? Of course, this new "shell" would respond only to valid, domain-specific commands, and would suggest valid arguments, options, switches... Any ideas? Thanks!

• Where do I put constants file for Codeigniter (PHP)?

  I have a list of constants (I'm using them as an enum), some are define statements, and some are just global variables. Where am I suppose to put them in the MVC framework so I can use them for both my model and my controller that needs to reference it? I'd rather not stick it into config/constants.php since they shouldn't be called except for by this model and the controllers that use it. Edit 1: Clarification To be more specific, I have my message_model model and it has a bunch of constants that I need that are stored in message_model_constants.php. Where should I put message_model_constants.php and is there a way to have it automatically included by the controller that loads message_model when message_model is not (and I don't want it to be) auto-loaded. Edit 2: I really don't want to have the constants auto-loaded except for when I use the model

• Changing overflow from div dynamically [closed]

  Hello comunnity! I am filling a div using JQuery. This div has the CSS property 'overflow' set to 'auto' (to display scrollbars because the div has a lot of HTML inside). But the DIV doesn't display the scrollbars. I think that the problem is that I'm setting the CSS property using CSS and the DIV is filling dynamically. How can I do to display scrollbars if the HTML inside the DIV doesn't fit, but dynamically? I'm trying to set the property manually after fill the div, but didn't work: function createWB(tag){ // Fill the div // ... // Set the scrollbars $('.tab_content').css('overflow','auto'); } If a set the property to 'scroll', the scrollbars appear, but disabled. • Custom deleters for std::shared_ptrs

  Is it possible to use a custom deleter after creating a std::shared_ptr without using new? My problem is that object creation is handled by a factory class and its constructors & destructors are protected, which gives a compile error, and I don't want to use new because of its drawbacks. To elaborate: I prefer to create shared pointers like this, which doesn't let you set a custom deleter (I think): auto sp1 = make_shared<Song>(L"The Beatles", L"Im Happy Just to Dance With You"); Or I can create them like this, which does let met set a deleter through an argument: auto sp2(new Song, MyDeleterFunc); But the second one uses new, which AFAIK isn't as efficient as the top sort of allocation. Maybe this is clearer: is it possible to get the benefits of make_shared<> as well as a custom deleter? Would that mean having to write an allocator?

• Insert into ... Select *, how to ignore identity?

  I have a temp table with the exact structure of a concrete table T. It was created like this: select top 0 * into #tmp from T After processing and filling in content into #tmp, I want to copy the content back to T like this: insert into T select * from #tmp This is okay as long as T doesn't have identity column, but in my case it does. Is there anyways I can ignore the auto-increment identity column from #tmp when I copy to T? My motivation is to avoid having to spell out every column name in the Insert Into list. EDIT: toggling identity_insert wouldn't work because the pkeys in #tmp may collide with those in T if rows were inserted into T outside of my script, that's if #tmp has auto-incremented the pkey to sync with T's in the first place.

• Align text with bottom as it comes in during a chat?

  I'm building a custom web chat application, and while I have the basics worked out, I've been wondering if this was possible... right now, the chat comes in at the top of the div, and when it reaches the bottom, the div starts scrolling. This works. This is great. But I was wondering if it was possible to create it more like an IRC client, where the chat comes in initially at the bottom of the div, then each new line comes in below the old ones, etc, and again, when the div is full, it starts scrolling. I've managed to get part of this working: I can get it displaying this way. But I can't find a way to scroll it; either the scroll doesn't appear (when there's no overflow on the inner, text div, despite there being an overflow on the outer, container div), or it's confined to the width of the text rather than the width of the container div. Some options I've tried: <div id="chatbox" style="overflow: auto; position: relative; width: 100%; height: 400px;"> <div id="chatmessages" style="overflow: auto; position: absolute; bottom: 0;"></div></div> This has the text appear properly at the bottom, but no scrollbar ever appears. <div id="chatbox" style="overflow: auto; position: relative; width: 100%; height: 400px;"> <div id="chatmessages" style="overflow: scroll; position: absolute; bottom: 0;"></div></div> This has the text appear properly at the bottom, and a scrollbar appears, but it's only ever as wide as the text, even if width=100%... and when the text reaches the top, the scrollbar remains gray. Basically, do I want the scrollbar on the inner or the container div, is this even possible, how do I force it to work, and am I going about this entirely wrong?

  I am a little confused about the auto-increment id field in rails. I have a rails project with a simple schema. When i check the development.sqlite3 I can see that all of my tables have an id field with auto increment. CREATE TABLE "messages" ("id" INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT NOT NULL, "text" text, "created_at" datetime, "updated_at" datetime); but when i call Message.new on the console, the resulting object has an id of nil >> a = Message.new => #<Message id: nil, text: nil, created_at: nil, updated_at: nil> shouldn't the id come back populated?

  I want to build a site where people can create their personal websites quickly. All their websites will be hosted on my single web application (i.e. there will be only one database which contains info of all the websites). Each person will have an account where he can customize his website (template, content etc.). They can access their website from .mysite.com or mysite.com/xyz. I should be able to add different modules frequently, which will immediately reflect in all the websites created through my site. UIImage* image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData: myData]; image = [image scaleToSize: size]; <- wouldn't this code create a leak since image(before scaling) is lost somewhere? i guess above codes work fine if image was first created with auto-release. But if image was created using 'alloc', it would create a leak in my short knowledge. How should I change scaleToSize: to guard against it? Thank you

  hi all, I have a db with users that have all this record . I would like to do a query on a data like CN=aaa, OU=Domain,OU=User, OU=bbbbbb,OU=Department, OU=cccc, OU=AUTO, DC=dddddd, DC=com and I need to group all users by the same ou=department. How can I do the select with the substring to search a department?? • Caching for database questions.

  When we say caching like using memcahe or Redis, is this a 1:1 caching between the user and the cache or can we cache 1 item and use it for all user? Some items like a Friend list will be 1:1 a that is unique per user. But if i want to cache the auto complete list for city lookups which can be used by any user, will it just store 1 list in the cache used by all users at same time or doe it need to store 1 list per user? Is it possible to cache the entire database, all the lookups, all the users, all their photos, etc using memache or redis? So from the above example: a friend list will be cleared from the cache when the user logs off. But something like city auto complete will stay in the cache 24-7-365, am i correct?
