I had BitLocker turned on originally when I loaded the computer but had to turn it off to do some testing. I recently tried to turn it back on and I continue to get the following error:
Blockquote
A required TPM measurement is missing. If there is a bootable CD or DVD in your computer, remove it, restart the computer, and turn on BitLocker again. If the problem persists, ensure the master boot record is up to date.

I have verified that there is nothing in the DVD tray and that the laptop is not docked. I have also verified that TPM is running and I have no problems enabling BitLocker on a flash drive. I think it's a problem with my MBR since I am dual booting into Fedora as well but I am not sure how to fix it. (even though it did work a few months ago while I was also dual booted) Thank you for the help.
I want to remove visual studio 2010 from a computer i am selling but even after uninstall, it looks like my product key is still around - if you re-install it it will use the product key...
How do I remove that registration info from the computer as I don't want the new owner of the computer to use my product key.
And I don't want to have to uninstall Windows.

openSUSE 11.2. KDE 4.3.5 Dolphin 1.3
The following works on CL
mount -v -o username=abcdefg,domain=DOM -t cifs //server.tld/share/path /mnt
Authentication fails when trying to connect to this share via Dolphin. "domain=DOM" is a required field. How do I force dolphin to connect to it?
On Dolphin, the following fails:
smb://[email protected]/server/path
I have a dedicated server in the US. Of course the server provider offers lots of MSSQL Plans to install on the server. But I'm short on money so what happens if I install a cracked version on my server? Will Microsoft to find out?
Has anyone been able to successfully edit the Standard calendar in 2010?
I'm trying to change the working times as none of our admin accounts seem able to do it. We're running Project Server 2010 RTM on SharePoint 2010 RTM with Project Pro 2010.
When I click the Edit Calendar button in PWA it triggers Project client to open up but it just opens up an empty project and I've not access to edit the Standard calendar using any of the published steps.
It would be great to hear if someone has managed to do this so I can work out if it's a general glitch in this build or is it just a problem with out setup.
I just got a new Macbook Pro, and got a headache/eyestrain using it. Doing some research, maybe it's related to the MBP's LCD being LED backlight.
Does anyone know the latest MBP model number (e.g. MC118LL/A) that does not have LED backlight?
I probably will just buy it used (hopefully new) from Ebay.
I have a one year old Mac Book Pro that I am trying to get RHEL 5.4 installed on via bootcamp. No matter what I do I can't get the installer to boot. I have tried multiple DVD's and even verified the install works on a new Mac Book Pro. Most of the time the installer simply locks up.
I usually use Linux text with all-generic-ide on the boot line.
I removed the ide parameter and I just used linux text. The results I get are that a bunch of kernel messages appear then the background turns blue and a thin text box pops up saying its loading ata..... something it disappears too fast for me to read. Then the machine freezes. I pressed the alt function keys to see if I could look at the system log, here is what it says:
Alt-f3 says "trying to mount CD device hda"
Alt-f4 says status error: hda: lastFailedSense
Hda: Failed opcode was: unknown
Hda: Lost interrupt
Hda: Drive not ready for command
Ide-cd: command 0x3 timed out
Above this junk it looks like it found the partition because it knew it was 20 GB and listed as /dev/sda3. I think it has something to do with the CD drive, is that possible?
Thanks again for the support.
PS I posted in the apple support forums ( Apple.com Support Discussions Boot Camp Installation and Storage) and didn't get an answer.
I'm working in company (several thousands client computers) using tools like MS Outlook + Exchange + Sharepoint + Communication server. Now our mother company shared the idea that everything should be moved to IBM Lotus Notes + Domino.
The reason for this is that Outlook based solution is too expensive (it is the official statement even they don't want to replace MS Office yet). Other reason probably is that they received a lot of licences for Lotus when they bought IBM servers to new data center.
My question is: Is this reasonable change or is it just some management game and IBM's marketing? Will it really save money? Other question: Is Lotus better then MS solution? This is serious question, it is not mentioned to open any kind of flame war. I just don't believe the decission and I have never used Lotus tools.
I'm using an Ubuntu emulator (VMware) on a Macbook.
My Mac says 3 GB free, while my Ubuntu emulator says 16 GB free.
I am wondering if my Ubuntu installation is "reserving" those 16gb, or it is just a wrong parameter?
Thanks
Hi,
The University I am working for is undergoing a major renovation of the ICT system. The team currently undertaking the task is designing a centralized system with the intent of providing most (if not all) services of the institution electronically. Most of us are academicians with little practical experience. The questions we need answers for are
What are the systems (preferably free, as in Beer, and/or open) and best-practices in use in other academic institutions?
What are the experiences of people administering academic ICT systems?
What are the overheads of attempting to provide services through an intranet cloud (like UEC) for us (a medium-sized academic institution, in a third-world country)?
We would very much appreciate it if you could give us your take on the situtation.
Thanks
I am a Student at Northeastern University. They use G-Apps for email ids, so whenever I need to email someone, using university Id which ends with husky.neu.edu. I have to go Gmails compose mail, They have some LDAP Setting by which I get all the email ids using AJAX in
"To" as soon as I start typing.
I want to configure same in Thunderbird, I contacted university but they are not able to help me. Is it possible that on my G-Apps Gmail Settings those LDAP Parameter needed for configuration are presents?
Can anyone help me? I want to configure a directory reference in my email client thunderbird, I dont know the parameters to use, it is possible I can get it somehow?
I'd like to debug an issue I'm having with a linux (debian stable) server, but I'm running out of ideas of how to confirm any diagnosis.
Some background: The servers are running DL160 class with hardware raid between two disks. They're running a lot of services, mostly utilising network interface and CPU. There are 8 cpus and 7 "main" most cpu-hungry processes are bound to one core each via cpu affinity. Other random background scripts are not forced anywhere. The filesystem is writing ~1.5k blocks/s the whole time (goes up above 2k/s in peak times). Normal CPU usage for those servers is ~60% on 7 cores and some minimal usage on the last (whatever's running on shells usually).
What actually happens is that the "main" services start using 100% CPU at some point, mainly stuck in kernel time. After a couple of seconds, LA goes over 400 and we lose any way to connect to the box (KVM is on it's way, but not there yet). Sometimes we see a kernel reporting hung task (but not always):
[118951.272884] INFO: task zsh:15911 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
[118951.272955] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

This would point at raid / disk failure, however sometimes the tasks are hung on kernel's gettsc which would indicate some general weird hardware behaviour.
It's also running mysql (almost read-only, 99% cache hit), which seems to spawn a lot more threads during the system problems. During the day it does ~200kq/s (selects) and ~10q/s (writes).
The host is never running out of memory or swapping, no oom reports are spotted.
We've got many boxes with similar/same hardware and they all seem to behave that way, but I'm not sure which part fails, so it's probably not a good idea to just grab something more powerful and hope the problem goes away.
Applications themselves don't really report anything wrong when they're running. I can run anything safely on the same hardware in an isolated environment. What can I do to narrow down the problem? Where else should I look for explanation?
When a new email address is added to our company's Exchange server it doesn't show up immediately on my Outlook, and I suspect that it's because of the "cached mode".
When I disable cached mode and restart outlook I see the new address fine. But when I restore cached mode and restart outlook it's missing again. So I guess the cache wasn't updated by this move.
I tried deleting the .nk2 file in %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook, but that didn't help.
How can I force Outlook to clear its address book cache?
Not sure this is the right place for this question, but here goes:
I'm trying to make some sense of the /proc/pid/sched and /proc/pid/task/tid/sched files for a highly threaded server process, however I was not able to find a good explanation of how to interpret this file ( just a few bits here: http://knol.google.com/k/linux-performance-tuning-and-measurement# ) .
I assume this entry in procfs is related to newer versions of the kernel that run with the CFS scheduler?
CentOS distro running on a 2.6.24.7-149.el5rt kernel version with preempt rt patch.
Any thoughts?
We're in the middle of setting up new servers, and have been having some odd problems with Apache.
Apache is prepending text that looks like this:
$15plðI‚‚?E?ðA™@?@??yeÔ|~Ÿ²?PγZ" zS€?8i³??
,ÀŠ{ÿBHTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Mon, 02 Feb 2009 22:28:05 GMT
Server: Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS)
Last-Modified: Mon, 02 Feb 2009 22:28:05 GMT
ETag: W/"1238007d-2224e-fe617f40"
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Content-Length: 139854
Connection: close
Content-Type: application/x-javascript
To all files. The file I copied the above text from is the prototype library js file. As loaded from our server.
I've searched, but couldn't find much about this problem Maybe I don't know what I'm searching for...
Anyway, if anyone has seen this behaviour before, could they please let me know either 1) how to fix it so that this content is not prepended to all files, or 2) where to look for further help.
Thanks
In /etc/apache2/httpd.conf, I have remove the line of Include mod_status and add the following to the last line,
LoadModule status_module /usr/lib/apache2/mod_status.so
ExtendedStatus On
<Location /server-status>
SetHandler server-status
AllowOverride None
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from all
</Location>
Then I restart Apache, and go to http://HOSTNAME/server-status, but I get the page not found, Did someone know why I get page not found?
Is there any more step needed to do to see the Apache status?
Thanks
We have acquired a new entity with their own AD/Exchange environment. Until they fully join our domain, we need to sync their exchange calendars or minimally free/busy for users. All users in the acquisition have a new account in our organization.
We have considered a number of options including CalDAV, but nothing seems to meet our needs.
Even a client solutions to update the NEW server with the free/busy would be workable.
hi,
I'm using Ubuntu emulator (VMware) on a Macbook.

How was wondering if my Ubuntu installation is "reserving" those 16gb, or it is just a wrong parameter.

Hi
does anybody can tell me about best practice to model RBAC on LDAP ? I'm very confused, not sure if I should think about LDAP groups as role, or just user in some custom OU.
Any real-life examples with tasks-operations\roles\user scheme (one user, multiple roles per user, multiple operations-tasks per role) ?
BTW:Target systems are .net, java and iSeries
We've tried both the first options
Install or upgrade an existing system
Install system with basic video driver
When trying option #1, it gets to a screen that has a solid cursor about halfway down, then freezes.
When trying option #2, it freezes at the point where it says:
Waiting for hardware to initialize...
Of course, we bought the unsupported version and haven't found anything to help us so far.
Here are the specs to the server in the original post:
ASUS P8Z68-M Pro LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
RAIDMAX Reiter ATX-305WBP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply
Intel Core i7-2600 Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I72600
16GB Ram
OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120GB
From some of the posts out there could the UEFI Bios or the Sandy Bridge processor be a culprit here?
We just tried the DVD on a different computer and it got past that point with ease. It's a standard Dell build compared to our custom machine. Could it be having difficulty recognizing drivers? How do we get past that?
