    Hello, which is the best way to allow a new user that I just created on ubuntu linux 9.04 to execute a script that requires some sudo without allowing him to the sudoers?     Hello, How can in Excel sort multiple collumns with data? Column B = Subscribe date Column A = Subscribe name I have multiple columns with a lot of doubles names (A) and different subscribe dates(B) How can this be sorted that all names are sorted, but the highest subscribe date is flagged as HIGHEST in column C. In this way you can see directly wich is the highest date.

    Hello How can I convert a file with a lot hex numbers into the decimal? Example: file1 0x59999 0x5acdc 0xffeff I want to start $ cat file1 | util | cat file2 and get file2 with smth like 1021489 1249230 3458080 (numbers in example output are random, as I cant convert so long hex to dec) Upd: perl : perl -pe '$_=hex;$_.="\n"'. Can anybody do it better? The real task is a sorting of hex numbers.

    Hello, i have a weired problem here, i'm running windows vista which is connected to the internet throught a 3g key, so sometimes i go to see how much datas are being downloaded and i find 200kb/s even if i don't use the internet, i closed all softwares like antivirus and everything and still the internet being consumed, thanks god because i only pay by month. So is there a tool for pc to monitor the softwares that are using my connexion? Thanks

    Hello All.. We have a debian machine running with firewall / gateway. We have deployed darkstat on it. When we installed darkstat it was showing statistics properly. I have a couple Truecrypt-encrypted folders on OS X, where I keep some .tex documents I edit in TeXShop, and the question is: does TexShop 'bleed' information? Does it store temporary files anywhere else on the system? Filenames, filecontents etc. Cheers!

    Hello, I have a file hosting site and I want to know what should be the apache log format/code to log records for only filesizes above 5mb that were served as download/output bandwidth So log looks like this visitors_ip filepath(or filename) output bandwidth One more thing data should be recorded ONLY FOR COMPLETED DOWNLOADS which I believe is checked through %X I think output bandwidth is same as the filesize that was served as download if whole file is downloaded. I had 2 partitions, formated C: and left with D: Installed Win7 and I want to delete some of these folders in D:, but it's denying me permission, altought I'm the admin. I want to enable the following function -- when the sub-site administrator publishing a page, the administrator could select to publish to the sub-site only or publish to both root site and sub-site. I have a few weblinks bookmarked in regards to setting up the web and game server but no idea what I do with the two static ip's.     Hello, is there a short tutorial available which shows how I can set up a small Linux server on Amazon EC2 so that I can configure it and launch it when needed? I understand that there is EBS to provide a persistent storage and that an image can be booted right from EBS. There are also existing images which are perfect starting points, with Linux installed, so I simply have to 'copy' somehow an existing image to EBS, and configure it there. Is there some article which guides through these steps?

  • Kill named running screen with -X only works after reattached

    Hello I am using ubuntu 8.04.4 and would like to start daemons like this: screen -dmS SESSIONNAME script.sh Then i want to kill these screens with -X like so screen -S SESSIONAME -X kill But, this does not work. Only if i attach and detach that session it gets kill'ed with above command. What am i doing wrong? I would like to not have to attach/deattach the session to kill it since i want to use fabric scripts that start/stop daemons remotly. - Thank you

    Hello, I have two drives in a raid 1 (mirroring) array. Hardware raid using whatever is built into an Intel motherboard. (asus P5BE) I'd like to remove one drive but keep the data in both (I want to put one of the drives into another machine). Can I go into the raid configuration and remove the array and have the data remain?
