• sql server 2008 express one row write problem

  Hi everyone, I have the most bizarre problem(at least it is bizarre to me) with MSSQL Server Express 2008. The problem is the following: On the development machine I use MS SQL Server 2008 Enterprise....I get some data from a WCF service and write that data to the db (simple as it can be)....I should point out however that the writing, it is done in a separate thread. BUt, anyway no problems during development...all the data is there. Then I set everything up(connection strings .\SQLEXPRESS, other settings) build in Release and copy that to a test machine that has MS SQL Server Express installed(because my application is a client application and it should work with Express)...I run the program....the program retrieves the data from the service...and when I look at the database...I'm in for a big suprise...there's only one row written(the first row received from the WCF service). I would really appreciate any help...I'm in a deadlock here. Thanks in advance. Bojan

  I've got this class: class Foo { public string Name { get; set; } } And this class class Foo<T> : Foo { public T Data { get; set; } } Here's what I want to do: public Foo<T> GetSome() { Foo foo = GetFoo(); Foo<T> foot = (Foo<T>)foo; foot.Data = GetData<T>(); return foot; } What's the easiest way to convert Foo to Foo<T>? I can't cast directly InvalidCastException) and I don't want to copy each property manually (in my actual use case, there's more than one property) if I don't have to. Is a user-defined type conversion the way to go?

• NuGet: "Unable to load one or more of the requested types"

  I installed NuGet into Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, but when I go to Solution Explorer, right-click on a project's "References" folder, and select "Add Library Package Reference", I immediately get this error: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. There's just an OK button, and no way for me to retrieve the additional information it's telling me about. This is a fresh install of NuGet; I've never installed it on this computer before. How can I fix and/or diagnose this error so I can get NuGet to work?

• One project in Delphi 2007 doesn't show procedure name in the IDE Obj Inspector's Events

  I have a Delphi project in 2007 that doesn't show the procedure names in the Object Inspector's Events such as Form OnClose, OnCreate or OnShow in the IDE. The code is there and if you click on OnCreate (for example) you are taken to the code and the IDE fills in the name of procedure. However on reload, the procedures are missing from the IDE again. This same project causes various error messages when Delphi closes also, but I am not sure if this is related (no other project developed under this Delphi does but this one is the largest app and uses several 3rd party add-in libraries). I have moved this app to various Delphi 2007 installations and it reacts the same, so it isn't a corrupt Delphi situation. Is there any way to rebuild or fix a corrupt project like this? Any help would be appreciated.

  I have tables like: 'profile_values' userID | fid | value -------+---------+------- 1 | 3 | [email protected] 1 | 45 | 203-234-2345 3 | 3 | [email protected] 1 | 45 | 123-456-7890 And: 'users' userID | name -------+------- 1 | joe 2 | jane 3 | jake I want to join them and have one row with two of the values like: 'profile_values' userID | name | email | phone -------+-------+----------------+-------------- 1 | joe | [email protected] | 203-234-2345 2 | jane | [email protected] | 123-456-7890 I have solved it but it feels clumsy and I want to know if there is a better way to do it. Meaning solutions that are either more readable or faster(optimized) or simply best-practice. Current solution: multiple tables selected, many conditional statements: SELECT u.userID AS memberid, u.name AS first_name, pv1.value AS fname, pv2.value as lname FROM users AS u, profile_values AS pv1, profile_values AS pv2, WHERE u.userID = pv1.userID AND pv1.fid = 3 AND u.userID = pv2.userID AND pv2.fid = 45; Thanks for the help!

• calling a function or communicating from one browser window to another using Jquery / javascript

  Hello, I am designing a web site that plays music. The music player itself will be in a separate window along with the now playing list. I want to be able to refresh the now playing list when a new song is added to it from the main window. Essentially I need to figure out how to communicate between the two windows. I was only able to find one plugin on line that defines the player page as a child of the main page but then this reference would be lost after the parent page i.e my main page was refreshed. So this was not very useful to me and I'm kinda lost atm.   I am new on R and I have a problem with a test in a loop that I want to code. With a data frame (tabetest) like the one here after: Date 25179M103 1 14977 77.7309 2 14978 77.2567 3 14979 77.7507 I have: if(tabetest[3,"Date"]-tabetest[1,"Date"]1){print("ok")} [1] "ok" But: j=1 > position = 1 > price=tabetest for (i in 1:nrow(tabetest)-position){if(tabetest[i+position,"Date"]-tabetest[position,"Date"]>20){price[i+position,j]=price[i+position,j]/price[position,j]-1};position=position+1} Returns an error. R says that there is a missing value where true/false is required in: if (tabetest[i + position, "Date"] - tabetest[position, "Date"] > I have spent quite some time on that error but still don't understand where it comes from. • Mixing a4 and a3 in one Latex file

  Hello, I am finishing my thesis and have a large appendix. Some tables only look good, if first done on a3 and then (paper)printed on a4. Anyhow, working all the files seperalty is fine, but I struggle to compile all in one. I use the geometry package and start the document with: \usepackage[a4paper,left=30mm,right=20mm,top=20mm, bottom=20mm]{geometry} For the appendix, I want to include the table and use \newgeometry{a3paper,left=25mm,right=15mm, top=15mm, bottom=15mm} However, the command is completely ignored and I can read "a3paper,left=25mm,right=15mm, top=15mm, bottom=15mm" above the table. What did I miss? Is it even possible? If not, how do I get the numbers right, if I have to include it as a pdf (which works)? Thanks!

  I'd like to display two independent Tumblr blogs next to each other on one page. I'd like them to look identical to their Tumblr theme. What's the best way to do this? • A regular expression that will allow a string with only one Capital Letter

  The string should be 6 - 20 characters in length. And it should contain 1 Capital letter. I can do this in code using C# string st = "SomeString" Regex rg = new Regex("[A-Z]"); MatchCollection mc = rg.Matches(st); Console.WriteLine("Total Capital Letters: " + mc.Count); if (mc.Count > 1) { return false; } But what i really want is a Regular expression that will match my string if it only contains one capital. For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need? I mean someone who hasn't realised that the modern software professional has a range of tools in his toolbox. The person whose knee jerk reaction is, for example, "We must do this is C++!" "Everything must be done in C++!" What's the best approach to open people up to the fact that "not everything is a nail"? • Declaring more than one SPIM array causes a syntax error

  Below is the beginning of a chunk of SPIM code: .data a: .space 20 b: .space 20 .text set_all: sw $ra,0($sp) li $t0,0 li $t1,10 ............ Unfortunately, the second array I declare ('b') causes the SPIM interpreter to spit out: spim: (parser) syntax error on line 3 of file spim.out b: .space 20 ^ Similar code works when I only have one array -- it seems to be the second that screws it up. I've prodded at it but can't figure out what it is about that statement that makes it break. Any thoughts? Thanks for any insight.

I'd like to write a simple NSPredicate where I've got the NSManagedObject *arm and I'd like to fetch the NSManagedObject *person that this arm belongs to. I could make a textual representation and look for that, but is there a better way where I can look it up by identity? Something like this perhaps? • Union on two tables with a where clause in the one

  Currently I have 2 tables, both of the tables have the same structure and are going to be used in a web application. the two tables are production and temp. The temp table contains one additional column called [signed up]. Currently I generate a single list using two columns that are found in each table (recno and name). Using these two fields I'm able to support my web application search function. Now what I need to do is support limiting the amount of items that can be used in the search on the second table. the reason for this is become once a person is "signed up" a similar record is created in the production table and will have its own recno. doing: Select recno, name from production UNION ALL Select recno, name from temp ...will show me everyone. I have tried: Select recno, name from production UNION ALL Select recno, name from temp WHERE signup <> 'Y' But this returns nothing? Can anyone help?

• Invoke webservice using jaxws when the wsdl has more than one service

  I'm trying to get hold of the FindService on this wsdl using jaxws. I generated the classes just fine using wsimport. But when i do: FindService findService = new FindService(); i get the exception: Exception in thread "main" javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: {http://s.mappoint.net/mappoint-30/}FindService is not a valid service. Valid services are: {http://s.mappoint.net/mappoint-30/}CommonService So, it seems that jaxws is only finding CommonService in the wsdl which is the first one declared in it. Any idea how i can use the FindService ? Thanks.

• SQL Server: One large persisted computed column for Fulltext Indexing

  It appears to me as the easiest, most straightforward solution, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Instead of having a fulltext index on all individual columns of a table, isn't it better to just generate one single wide computed column and run the fulltext index against that only? It appears to me that it gets rid of all the issues of having multiple columns, incl. that I can't search "x AND y" as this will not match a row with "x" present in column 1 and "y" present in column 2. Any counterarguments?

  I have a list that I need sorted by two fields. I've tried using OrderBy in LINQ but that only allows me to specify one field. I'm looking for the list to be sorted by the first field and then if there are any duplicates in the first field to sort by the second field. For example I want the results to look like this (sorted by last name then first name). Adams, John Smith, James Smith, Peter Thompson, Fred I've seen that you can use the SQL like syntax to accomplish this but I am looking for a way to do it with the OrderBy method.   How could I accomplish copying one jagged array to another? For instance, I have a 5x7 array of: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 and a 4x3 array of: 0,1,1,0 1,1,1,1 0,1,1,0 I would like to be able to specify a specific start point such as (1,1) on my all zero array, and copy my second array ontop of it so I would have a result such as: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0 0, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0 0, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 What would be the best way to do this?
