• Getting 'error while loading shared libraries' when using -L to specifically find the library.

  I've been trying to solve this for a few hours now. I am compiling some c files using gcc. The files require libpbc, so I am using the -L flag to point gcc at the directory which contains libpbc.so.1. The code compiles without error yet when I attempt to run it I get the following error message: ./example.out: error while loading shared libraries: libpbc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Looking at similar questions this error message seems to indicate that gcc can't find libpbc.so.1. I know gcc sees libpbc.so.1 because when I rename libpbc.so.1 to something else it fails to compile. I am using -L to point to the directory which contains libpbc.so.1. Not sure what next steps I can take to figure this out. Would appreciate any ideas. What does this error message mean exactly?

• Changing <img src="XXX" />, js event when new image has finished loading?

  I have a photo gallery web page where a single <img src="XXX" /> element's src is changed (on a click) with javascript to show the next image—a poor man's ajax I guess. Works great on faster connections when the new image appears almost immediately. Even if it takes a few seconds to load, every browser I've tested it on keeps the old image in place until the new one is completely loaded. It's a little confusing waiting those few seconds on a slow connection, though, and I'm wondering if there's some javascript event that fires when the new image is done loading, allowing me to put a little working... animated gif or something up in the meantime. I know I could use AJAX for real (I'm using jQuery already), but this is such a nice and simple solution. Besides this lag, is there any other reason I should stay away from this approach to changing images? thanks.

  Hi, I have developed an application which has retrieved the information from remote location...so i put those in UITableView's Section.In response, i will be getting images also..for this i put the background process(only for images..because the app will take more time to retrieve images than text based information..).It is working fine...But if i scroll the tableview while loading the images..it is going to be crashed.... crash Log: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... could anyone has the solution for this..please let me know..how to resolve this crash...Even i used NSThread class for this.. but i didn't get the solution... Thanks, Srinivas G

• Code is exectuting but the view is not loading when called form a function?

  I have a viewBased application with the viewController class mainView. In it I am loading various views(different nibs) depending upon certain actions that I do. I have added a popoverController with a barbutton in the mainView. Its intialized with a tableviewController class named popClass. When I select certain row in the popover, I want the view in my mainView to load someother view(as I do when i do certain actions). For that I have written a function in mainView Controller class and is calling it from the popOver class. Function and the lines of code are executing but nothing is happening. Even the log lines are printed but no action takes place. What is the problem? OR is there anyother way to make the view change in mainView by using the popover?

• PHP APC - Why is loading cached array op codes slow?

  I'm using APC to reduce my loading time for my PHP files. My files load very fast, except for one file where I define more than 100 arrays. This 270 kb file takes 200 ms to load. The rest of the files are full of objects, methods, and functions. I'm wondering: does OP code caching not work as well for arrays? My APC cache should be big enough to handle all of my classes. Currently 40% of my cache is free. My hit rate is 99%. apc.shm_size=32 M apc.max_file_size = 1M apc.shm_segments= 1 APC 3.1.6 I'm using PHP 5.2, Apache 2, and Windows Vista.

• How do I clear a WebView's content before loading a page?

  I have an embedded WebView in my Cocoa application in which I load an external web page. Each time the user clicks on a button, the view opens and shows the page. The problem is that the second time the user opens the WebView, the previous page is still visible. Instead I'd like to show a blank/empty page (together with a progress indicator). How can I clear a WebView before loading a new page? The closest solution I could find was to call this: [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.open();document.close()"]; Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

  I have an app that works with tabs and webview. I already have it setup to refresh the page assigned to a tab each time the item on tabbar is selected. My problem now is that it takes some time to load the page and it's impossible to say if the page being displayed is the old or refreshed one. What I want to do is add a "loading" screen (a simple image) which will be displayed until the refreshed page is loaded. • sIFR seems to be loading correctly but not displaying text.

  I'm Using sIFR 3r436, and although I believe everything is set up correctly, and my console shows that the .swf font file is loading correctly, the HTML type is hidden but the sIFR type is not displaying. Below is a link to the site in question: Schaffer's Website Below is a link to a test site that uses exactly the same sifr-config.js, sifr.js, css, and swf files. And it works.   I want to know the order of loading the CSS files in a HTML page. My actual requirement is like this: I have more than 10 CSS files in my application. I am importing some 3 to 4 CSS files in each HTML page. The problem is I have duplicate classes that defined in some CSS files. That means I override some of the CSS classes in the CSS files. In some pages it behaves correctly. In some pages it behaves wrongly. I have inline styles defined for some of the DIVs in HTML page also. I am keeping CSS class for that DIVs also. Can anyone know which one will take higher priority or which one loads first ?

  I am quite sure I've seen the answer to this question somewhere, but as I couldn't find it with a couple of searches on SO or google, I ask it again anyway... In Entity Framework, the only way to delete a data object seems to be MyEntityModel ent = new MyEntityModel(); ent.DeleteObject(theObjectToDelete); ent.SaveChanges(); However, this approach requires the object to be loaded to, in this case, the Controller first, just to delete it. Is there a way to delete a business object referencing only for instance its ID? If there is a smarter way using Linq or Lambda expressions, that is fine too. The main objective, though, is to avoid loading data just to delete it.

• Using Javascript to detect the bottom of the window and ignoring all events when a request is loading

  I have an anonymous function to detect the user has scrolled to the bottom of the window. Inside of the anonymous function, I have a call to a database that takes a while to complete. var allowing_more = 1; $(window).scroll(function() { if (allowing_more == 1){ if ($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() == $(document).height()) { allowing_more = 0; //query allowing_more = 1; } } }); In this time, if the user scrolls to the bottom of the window again, it seems a queue is made holding the occurences the user scrolled to the bottom of the window while the query was loading. Upon completing of the query, these occurences are then executed. I have a boolean statement to detect if the anonymous function is accepting more query requests but this seems to be ignored. Is there some sort of way to ignore an anonymous function temporarily and re-enable it?

  I have the following relation in my rails app: genre - has many - authors authors - belong to genre and has many books books - belongs to authors and belongs to users (users can add books to the db) in my controller I have: @books=current_user.books(:include => [:author => :genre], :order => 'books.created_at DESC')--- -- In my controller I used to have: @authors = Author.All @genres = Genre.All etc. -- In my view I have @genres.each do |genre| @authors.each do |author| if author.genre_id == genre.id stuff end end end Now that I'm using eager loading, I can't imagine this is the best way to do this (nor does it work as I don't have the @ variables) - I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how to approach this?

• INSERT INTO ... SELECT ... vs dumping/loading a file in MySQL

  What are the implications of using a INSERT INTO foo ... SELECT FROM bar JOIN baz ... style insert statement versus using the same SELECT statement to dump (bar, baz) to a file, and then insert into foo by loading the file? In my messing around, I haven't seen a huge difference. I would assume the former would use more memory, but the machine that this runs on has 8GB of RAM, and I never even see it go past half used. Are there any huge (or long term) performance implications that I'm not seeing? Advantages/disadvantages of either?

  Hello, In a client server app, where client front end is done in silverlight using C# and the services are the WCF services. If I am to hit the service and do a query and bring back a result and I notice that it is taking a relatively long time to load my page which is just loading the grid with the data, what things should I look at fix this issue or how would I fix this issue? What steps could I take to determine the problem? where is the bottle-neck, can anyone know from the little information provided here? Does this have anything to do with serialization? Any insight on what could be causing this delay? My service calls are made async. I hope this question makes sense :) Thanks

  Hi. I'm trying make something similar to (but not exactly like) the email app found on the iPad. Specifically, I'd like to create a tab-based app, but each tab would present the user with a different UISplitView. Each UISplitView contains a Master and a Detail view (obviously). In each UISplitView I would like the Master to be a multi-level navigational controller where new UIViewControllers are pushed onto (or popped off of) the stack. This type of navigation within the UISplitView is where the application is similar to the native email app. To the best of my knowledge, the only place that has described a decent "splitviewcontroller inside of a uitabbarcontroller" is here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2475139/uisplitviewcontroller-in-a-tabbar-uitabbarcontroller and I've tried to follow the accepted answer. The accepted solution seems to work for me (i.e., I get a tab-bar controller that allows me to switch between different UISplitViews). The problem is that I don't know how to make the left-hand side of the UISplitView to be a multi-level navigation controller. • How can I detect client-side when a page load is the result of an AJAX history point?

  I'm trying to prevent a "flicker" effect that is occurring on my ASP.NET page which occurs when a user navigates to the page via the browser back button after having navigated away from it. The reason for the flicker is that I'm using an Update Panel which has some content in there on the initial page-load. As a result, when the page is loaded via a back button that initial content is shown very briefly before it is updated with the correct History-aware data. In order to overcome this I am intending on having the updatepanel hidden (display: none) on inital page load and then show it as long as we don't have any history to deal with. The problem is that I can't find out what to check to determine if there's any history. I can see that the Sys.Application has a _history member but when I'm checking it on page init it is null each time. Does anyone know what I should be checking to determine if there's history to deal with for a page load client-side? And at what point to do it?

  Recently there is a lot of projects that pushes Javascript into other directions: as a general purpose scripting language (GLUEScript, Rhino), as an extension language (QTScript, Adobe Reader, OO Macros), Widgets (Yahoo Widgets, MS Gadgets, Dashboard), and even server-side JS & web frameworks (CommonJS, Helma, Phobos, V8cgi), which seems obvious since it is already a language widely used for web development. But wait, everything is so new and nothing is really mature. However JS is around for almost 15 years, being as powerfull as any other scripting languages, being standardised by the ECMA, and being a mandatory technology for web development. Why did it take so much time to gain acceptance into other domains than web browsers?

Since I did not initiate the authentication request, how do I determine the original redirect_uri?   I frequently work with libraries that use char when working with bytes in C++. The alternative is to define a "Byte" as unsigned char but that not the standard they decided to use. I frequently pass bytes from C# into the C++ dlls and cast them to char to work with the library. When casting ints to chars or chars to other simple types what are some of the side effects that can occur. Specifically, when has this broken code that you have worked on and how did you find out it was because of the char signedness? Lucky i haven't run into this in my code, used a char signed casting trick back in an embedded systems class in school. I'm looking to better understand the issue since I feel it is relevant to the work I am doing.

Scenario 1: To avoid piracy, I want to include some piece of code, whose job is sending both IMEI and Serial number of IPhone. • Do Any Client-Side JavaScript Frameworks Integrate Well With Node.js+Express.js+socket.io.js?

  I'm building an webapp using Node.js+Express.js+socket.io.js on the backend. Do any of the popular front-end frameworks (Agility, Angular, Backbone, Closure, Dojo, Ember, GWT, jQuery, Knockback, Knockout, Spine, YUI, etc) integrate well with this backend for "real-time" applications? I want my application to have a very "real-time" feel. Specifically, when a user submits a form I want the information to be sent using web sockets to the backend for validation and (if validation passes) to be updated in the database. Then, the server-side will use web sockets to send a confirmation that the data was saved or some list of errors. I will use the server's response to update the page using JavaScript. I know all this can be done with any of the listed frameworks. I'm interested in features of particular frameworks that will help the framework integrate better with the Node-based backend than the other frameworks.
