  • How do I merge MP4 files without audio going out of sync?

    Is there a tool I can use that can merge MP4 files without throwing the audio out of sync? I generated some MP4 files from a DVD using AVIDemux but whatever tool I try to use always ends up throwing the audio out of sync with the video. The further you get into the video the further off-sync the audio is. By themselves the MP4/AAC videos have perfect audio-video sync. later tonight i might try http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ to examine the file before and after to see if anything changed in the media format.

    I have a bunch of audio files that are named .wav but it seems not all .wavs are created equal. For example: $ file * file1.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, stereo 44100 Hz file2.wav: Audio file with ID3 version 2.2.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 160 kbps, 44.1 kHz, JntStereo file3.wav: Claris clip art? file4.wav: Audio file with ID3 version 2.2.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 160 kbps, 44.1 kHz, JntStereo And for good measure, a non-wav: file5.m4a: ISO Media, MPEG v4 system, iTunes AAC-LC I would like to convert all of these files to the format that file1.wav is: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, stereo 44100 Hz What is the proper set of arguments to pass to afconvert to make that happen?

  • Converting videos to AVI with AVIDemux for compatibility

    I am trying to convert a couple of short videos to AVI (XviD) using AVIDemux. I find that while the resulting videos play fine in VLC, they do not play in an XviD DVD player (nor presumably Xbox 360, PS3, etc.). In fact, they do not even show in Windows Explorer (that is, Explorer cannot read their metadata or display thumbnails). I tried using all three of the AVI Muxer Output Format options, but none worked. Does anyone know what settings to use to produce compatible AVIs with AVIDemux? (I found an old thread where someone complained about AVIs not working on Xbox, but that was a few years ago from an older version.)

    There's a webcam streaming WMV video that I can play/record with mplayer/mencoder (Debian Lenny including Debian-multimedia) just fine. I'd like to capture the video such that, when played back, it's faster (so say 100s of real time zooms past in every 1s of video). The "frameskip" filter seems like it ought to do this, but when I try e.g mencoder -o output.avi -ofps 25 -vf framestep=100 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:... <mms source URL> what I actually get is something which plays for the same length of time as it's allowed to capture for, but which only updates the displayed image every 4 seconds. Is there any way mencoder can be persuaded to do what I want ? (By the way, ideally I'd like to average the frames together to obtain motion-blur instead of just dropping/discarding most of them.).

    I have a couple of videos at 1920x800 that use the MKV format (4.7 GB). A friend of mine has an old PC that has some problems playing them; the CPU is working at nearly 100%. Is it possible to convert these videos to a less CPU intensive video format? The final size is not a problem, it can also double or more.     I have some presentations that are filmed. The audio is the presenter and the video is all the Powerpoint slides (size 1024x768, video codec H264, audio codec AAC). I would like to reduce their final file size since a 1 hour presentation is about 800 MB. Most of it is the video part which as I said is mostly powerpoint slides that don't change much over a matter of several seconds. Which codec would be better suited to encode this images and reduce the size of the end file?

    I need to create a large image (in filesize) using a small one as a source. Images on my website are being hotlinked and I'd like to get revenge. I want to replace the hotlinked images with one huge image (several megs in size) and serve that to them instead. I've found a good image, but it's less than 100kb, and I'm already using it to serve up to the hotlinkers. How can I convert this image to one that is several megs its current filesize?

The following is the command I use to convert to avi, but I'd like to avoid having to do two conversions and converting the avi file to mp3. mencoder mms://wmslive.media.hinet.net/Weblive_Bloomberg_600 -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame -o output.avi Note if there are tools that can do this I will use them, I have access to both Linux and Windows.

    If I have set styles in a Word 2003 document, how can I get the set styles to appear when the document is opened in Word 2010? When I open the document that was created using 2003 (that has set custom styles), in 2010 it converts everything to the 2010 styles. When I try selecting Change Styles?Style Set?Word 2003, it doesn’t pick up my custom styles; it only picks up the default 2003 styles. I want to be able to keep my custom styles that were created in the template using 2003.

  • Sound out of sync after merging multiple mp4 files with Avidemux

    I am trying to join (merge) two or more .mp4 files together, without re-encoding. Here is what I did: Started Avidemux 2.5.5. With File-Open, selected Input1.mp4. I received this message - "H.264 detected. If the file is using B-frames as reference it can lead to a crash or stuttering. Avidemux can use another mode which is safe but YOU WILL LOOSE SOME FRAME ACCURACY. Do you want to use that mode?". I chose "No". With File-Append, selected Input2.mp4. I received the same "H.264 detected" message again and chose "No". Selected the Format to MP4 (from AVI). Saved the output file (called Output.mp4) with File-Save-Save Video. Unfortunately, when I play the Output.mp4 video in VLC, the sound is out of sync with the second video. How can I correct this?

    Friend gave me their OLD handycam and a bunch of tapes asking me to put them on a DVD. The model is Sony DCR-TVR103 and it records onto Hi8 Digital tapes. It has a firewire port also. I am trying to use import function in iMovie on OS X 10.6. Every import though the video is super fast, like playing in fast forward. Ever seen anything like this? How can I import this video? How do I do that ?

    What I'm trying to do is to take a movie (in an Matroska container), convert all audio tracks to AC3 and don't touch anything else.   • If I use a video format converter to change a movie from AVI to MKV, will quality stay the same?

    I know they're both container formats and what matters is the actual codec used, but what I don't know is if video converting software will do anything to change the codec, or if it just repackages. The reason I need to know is that I have several .avi files with subtitle files, and I'm wanting to turn them into .mkv so I can attach the subs and not need a second subtitle file anymore. Will my new .mkv files be identical in video and audio quality to the original .avi?

    I want to download live streaming video from some websites and it seems Internet Download Manager can handle the job. However, the video I want is just a small part of the live stream and the the stream itself never stops. Hence, IDM will just keep downloading all days and nights if I don't stop it myself. The problem is, the downloaded file (stored in the temporary folder) is of .stream extension. Mediaplayer Classic can open it perfectly, but it'd be very inconvenient to have such extension since I don't think I can carry it around and play it on other computer. I tried some video converters but all of them failed because the format is not supported. So my questions are: Is there a program specially made to download live rmtp video? IDM works, but the format is inconvenient. How can I convert .stream file to other extension, say AVI?

    I can convert a jpg from one ICC to another ICC. convert rgb_image.jpg -profile USCoat.icm cmyk_image.jpg Or I can convert a jpg with no ICC to another ICC. convert rgb_image.jpg +profile icm \ -profile sRGB.icc -profile USCoat.icm cmyk_image.jpg But how do I convert a png's pixels into the gamut described by an ICC profile? I understand I cannot embed the profile into the image file, but would at least like to convert the colors. When I reuse the above commands, the colors come out wrong... (different from the colors in the JPG when converted).   • How do I add another audio stream to an MP4 file?

    I've got an MP4 video file and I want to add another AAC audio track to it. I've tried YAMB and MeGUI (frontends for MP4Box) and it plays correctly in Zoom Player, but it picks the wrong track in WMP and plays both at once in Quicktime. I think this might have to do with designating the default audio track somehow. Does anyone know how to specify the default audio track with YAMB/MeGUI or know of another way of adding a track to an MP4 file?

  • How to make all table borders invisible in MS Word after copying from HTML

    I am in a situation where I need to make a HTML report into a word report with nothing more that Ctrl+C or opening it with Word. I end up with a lot of nested tables. Problem lies in the fact that css formats the table in HTML while in Word document they are left with horrible looking borders, that need to be invisible. It would take extensive amounts of time to make each tables borders invisible. Is there a way to make all borders of every table in document invisible?
