• Downloading file from server (asp.net) to IE8 Content-Disposition problem with file name

  I am downloading a file from the server/database via aspx page. When using the content-disposition inline the document opens in correct application but the file name is the same as the web page. I want the document to open in say MS Word but with the correct file name. Here is the code that I am using Response.Buffer = true; Response.ClearContent(); Response.ClearHeaders(); Response.Clear(); Response.ContentType = MimeType(fileName); //function to return the correct MIME TYPE Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", @"inline;filename=" + fileName); Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", image.Length.ToString()); Response.BinaryWrite(image); Response.Flush(); Response.Close(); So again, I want the file to open in MS Word with the correct document file name so that the user can properly save/view. • "wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003"?

  I get this cryptic error the first time (and only the first time) my view is loaded due to the following line of code: - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [textField becomeFirstResponder]; } There is a noticeable (~3 – 4 second, even on the simulator) delay due to this that makes my app feel unresponsive. Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't find any documentation on it on Apple's site, or any solutions here or on Google. Strangely, the opposite situation happens if I put the line in -viewDidAppear: instead of -viewWillAppear:; that is, instead of printing the error only the first time the keyboard is shown and never again, the error is not printed the first time but every time after. This is causing a major headache for me.

• Binding a TreeView with ContextMenu in Xaml

  I'm pretty new to Xaml and need some advise. A TreeView should be bound to a hierarchical object structure. The TreeView should have a context menu, which is specific for each object type. Anyway all the bining samples I could find use TextBlock instead of TreeViewItem in the DataTemplate, but wonder how to integrate the ContextMenu there.

• JSON on IE6 (IE7)

  Sorry for my inpatience but after weeks staying up late and just having put my web online, I just don't have any left energy to debug... I just can't Google how to implement JSON on IE6 & IE7... I'm using JSON.stringify(...) From what I understand JSON is not built in on IE6-7 and has to be dynamically added in in-line code... how do you do that? I already have jQuery - is it my correct understanding that their JSON engine relies on the browser native one? Then some comment on invalid JSON code that makes IE6-7 fail, but I thought it wasn't native in IE6-7? Anyone?

  For some unknown reason OracleXETNSListener won't start which prevents SQL Developer from connecting to it. C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\ADMIN\listener.ora and C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames both have correct hostname. • iPhone Provisioning: What's it all about?

  Grepping around, I see that I'm not AT ALL alone in being... challenged... by the process of setting up an iPhone app, getting it to run, giving it my testers, and so on. I've gotten it to work. Somehow I emailed a copy or two to testers, and eventually got my li'l app into the store, and that was fine. But I can't say a really, deeply understand it! (And I don't do iDev every day. Even now my recollection of what I did is kind-of hazy.) I'm moderately capable of understanding things, if presented, well, you know, in a way I can understand. Can anyone point me to a crystal clear explanation of what provisioning actually is? I feel that if I understood it, the recipes to do it would be obvious. Thanks!

• Show Add button after Edit button is clicked?

  I have a view with navigation bar control on the top. The view is in the second level with a "back" button is displayed on the left by default. In my view class, I added a default navigation edit button on the right: self.navigationbarItem.rightButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; with this line of code, an edit button is on the right side, and when it is clicked, the view (table view) becomes editable with delete mark on the left for each row. After that, the edit button's caption becomes "done". All those are done by the default edit button built in the navigation control, I think. I would like to add an add button the left, or replace "back" button when edit is clicked. I guess I have to implement some kind of delegate in my view class. This would provide a place to plug in my code to add the add button on the left when edit button is clicked, and to restore "back" button back when the done button is clicked. If so, what's the delegate? Or is there any other way to achieve it?

• Has anyone installed NServiceBus onto a Microsoft clustered server?

  I am trying to install NServiceBus onto a clustered win2k3 host. The configuration utility provided (runner.exe) throw some errors that I did not catch, and it now runs correctly. • Creating Drill-Down Detail UITableView from JSON NSDictionary

  I'm have a load of trouble finding out how to do this, I want to show this in a UITableDetailView (Drill-Down style) with each item in a different cell. All of the things I've read all show how to load a single image on the detail instead of showing as a UITableView. Does the dictionary have to have "children" in order to load correctly? Here is the code for the first view creating *dict from the JSON rowsArray. I guess what I'm looking for is what to put in the FollowingDetailViewController.m to see the rest of *dict contents, so when selecting a row, it loads the rest of the *dict. I have rowsArray coming back as follows: '{ loginName = Johnson; memberid = 39; name = Kris; age = ;}, etc,etc...   We're using the Eclipse CDT 5 C++ IDE on Windows to develop a C++ application on a remote AIX host. Eclipse CDT has the ability to perform remote debugging using gdbserver. Unfortunately, gdbserver is not supported on AIX. Is anyone familiar with a way to debug remotely using Eclipse CDT without gdbserver? Perhaps using an SSH shell connection to gdb?

• Pass data to Master Page with ASP.NET MVC

  I have a hybrid ASP.NET WebForms/MVC project. In my Master Page, I have a "menu" User Control and a "footer" User Control. Anyways. I need to pass some data (2 strings) to my "menu" User Control on my Master Page (to select the current tab in my menu navigation, etc.) My views are strongly-typed to my data model. How can I push data from my controller to my menu or at least allow my master page to access some data pre-defined in my controller? Note: I understand this violates pure ASP.NET MVC, but like I said, it is a hybrid project. The main purpose of my introduction to ASP.NET MVC into my project was to have more control over my UI for certain situations only.

• Application/Server dependency mapping

  I'm just curious as to whether such as tool exists (free, open source, or commercial but for a reasonable price) before I build it myself. We're looking for a simple solution to simplify taking web apps online and offline when a server is undergoing maintenance. The idea is that we be able to mark a server as unavailable, and then mark all dependent (direct and indirect) as offline. Our first proof-of-concept is running, and we created an aspx page that lists various applications that have an App_Offline.html file with a friendly "Down for Maintenance" message in a GridView. In the GridView, each app has a LinkButton that, when clicked, either renames the App_Offline.htm to App_Offline.html or vice-versa to take the app online and offline. The next step is to set up all of our dependencies. For example, our store locater would be dependent on our web services, which in turn are dependent on our SQL Server. (that's a simple example. We can easily have several layers, or one app dependent on multiple servers, etc.) In this example, if the SQL server goes down, we would need to drill down recursively to find all apps that depend on it, and then turn them off and on by renaming the App_Offline file appropriately. I realize this will be relatively simple to build, but could be complex to manage. I'm sure we're not the first team to think of this concept, and I'm wondering if there are any open source tools, or if any of you have done something similar and can help us avoid pitfalls. Edit - Update I found the category of software I'm looking for. it's called CMDB - (Configuration Management Database), and it's generally more of a Network Admin type tool than a developer tool. I found some open source products in this category, but none written in .NET. I had considered moving this question to ServerFault.com when I realized I was looking for a netowrk Admin type tool, but since I'm looking for code and a modifiable solution I'll keep the question here.

• Is Visual Studio 2010 WebDev WebServer (Cassini) 64-bit compatible?

  I'm now developing on Visual Studio 2008 on a 64-bit OS (Windows Server 2008 64-bit). While the apps I write are 64-bit capable, as is IIS7, the built-in ASP.NET Development Server (aka Cassini aka WebDev.Webserver.exe) runs as 32-bit. This brings up a plethora of issues, such as: 32-bit and 64-bit applications have separate HKLM\Software registry homes There are 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the SQL Server Client Network Utility Other fun surprises I haven't discovered but I'm sure will spring up While I am finding workarounds for most of this, I have to ask... Does anyone who has played with the Visual Studio 2010 preview bits on 64-bit architecture know if the development web servers can handle 64-bit, and if so, are there options for which mode to run it in? (Like a checkbox in the project properties, for instance)

• "Bad binary signature" in ASP.NET MVC application

  We are getting the error above on some pages of an ASP.NET MVC application when it is deployed to a 64 bit Windows 2008 server box. It works fine on our development machines, though these are 32 bit XP. Just wondered if anyone had encountered this before, and has any suggestions? Details as follows: Bad binary signature. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131192) Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Bad binary signature. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131192) All projects are set to compile for Any CPU, and are compiled in Release mode. The ASP.NET site is precompiled, and the precompiled build is on a 64 bit Windows 2008 TeamCity build agent. Thanks in advance. EDIT We're still plagued by this. I have looked at all the binaries in the website's bin directory using corflags.exe. None has the 32BIT flag set, and all have a CorFlags value of 9 except for Antlr3.Runtime.dll which has a value of 1. The problem only affects certain pages, and it seems to be those which use FluentValidation (including FluentValidation.Mvc and FluentValidation.xValIntegration assemblies). None of these shows anything out of the ordinary when inspected with corflags.exe, and there are no odd looking dependencies revealed by ildasm. When built locally (32 bit Windows XP) the site deploys and runs fine. When built on the build agents (64 bit Windows 2008 Server) the site displays these errors. The site runs in Integrated Pipeline mode, and is not set to 32 bit. The stack trace is: [COMException (0x80131192): Bad binary signature. • Which doctype should I use for GWT 2.0?

  I think I should use <!DOCTYPE html> for my new GWT application; I understand that doing so will put my application into standards-compliant mode. Am I correct? Are there any disadvantages to using this doctype? Does GWT work properly in standards-compliant mode? I'm wary because the GWT tutorial still uses the HTML 4.01 transitional doctype.

• Weird RecordStore behavior when RecordStoreFullException occurs

  Hello everyone! I'm developing a small J2ME application that displays bus stops timetables - they are stored as records in MIDP RecordStores. Sometimes records can not fit a single RecordStore, especially on record update - using setRecord method - a RecordStoreFullException occurs. I catch the exception, and try to write the record to a new RecordStore along with deleting the previous one in the old RecordStore. Everything works fine except of deleting record from RecordStore where the RecordStoreFullException occurs. If I make an attempt to delete record that could not be updated, another Exception of type InvalidRecordIDException is thrown. This is weird and undocumented in MIDP javadoc. I have tested it on Sun WTK 2.5.2, MicroEdition SDK 3.0 and Nokia Series 40 SDK. I think he wants to lazy load the categories again, as i have them detached. What should i do now?

  Searching the web, I find heaps of different suggestions for what the proper MIME type for a font is, but I have yet to try any MIME type that rids me of a Chrome warning such as the following: Resource interpreted as font but transferred with MIME type font/otf The font is an OTF. I've tried the following MIME types so far font/otf application/font-otf application/font application/otf application/octet-stream application/x-font-otf application/x-font-TrueType (I know it's not truetype, but one source quoted this for OTF)

• Generating Entity Keys

  I have run into my first dissapointment with Entity Framework 4. It turns out that SQL CE, when used with EF4, does not support autogenerated primary keys. I get a System.Data.UpdateException from OnjectContext.SaveChanges() with this message: Server-generated keys and server-generated values are not supported by SQL Server Compact. So, now I have to manually generate keys for my entities. Assuming I want to use auto-incremented integer keys, what is the best way to go about generating and keeping track of the keys when using Entity Framework? Thanks for your help.
