  • Form Submitting Incorrect Information to MySQL Database

    - by ThatMacLad
    I've created a form that submits data to a MySQL database but the Date, Time, Year and Month fields constantly revert to the exact same date (1st January 1970) despite the fact that when I submit the information to the database the form displays the current date, time etc to me. I've already set it so that the time and date fields automatically display the current time and date. Could someone please help me with this. Form: <html> <head> <title>Blog | New Post</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/newposts.css" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div class="new-form"> <div class="header"> <a href="edit.php"><img src="images/edit-home-button.png"></a> </div> <div class="form-bg"> <?php if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { $month = htmlspecialchars(strip_tags($_POST['month'])); $date = htmlspecialchars(strip_tags($_POST['date'])); $year = htmlspecialchars(strip_tags($_POST['year'])); $time = htmlspecialchars(strip_tags($_POST['time'])); $title = htmlspecialchars(strip_tags($_POST['title'])); $entry = $_POST['entry']; $timestamp = strtotime($month . " " . $date . " " . $year . " " . $time); $entry = nl2br($entry); if (!get_magic_quotes_gpc()) { $title = addslashes($title); $entry = addslashes($entry); } mysql_connect ('localhost', 'root', 'root') ; mysql_select_db ('tmlblog'); $sql = "INSERT INTO php_blog (timestamp,title,entry) VALUES ('$timestamp','$title','$entry')"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or print("Can't insert into table php_blog.<br />" . $sql . "<br />" . mysql_error()); if ($result != false) { print "<p class=\"success\">Your entry has successfully been entered into the blog. </p>"; } mysql_close(); } ?> <?php $current_month = date("F"); $current_date = date("d"); $current_year = date("Y"); $current_time = date("H:i"); ?> <form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>"> <input class="field" type="text" name="date" id="date" size="2" value="<?php echo $current_month; ?>" /> <input class="field" type="text" name="date" id="date" size="2" value="<?php echo $current_date; ?>" /> <input class="field" type="text" name="date" id="date" size="2" value="<?php echo $current_year; ?>" /> <input type="text" name="time" id="time" size="5"value="<?php echo $current_time; ?>" /> <input class="field2" type="text" id="title" value="Title Goes Here." name="title" size="40" /> <textarea class="textarea" cols="80" rows="20" name="entry" id="entry" class="field2"></textarea> <input class="field" type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Submit"> </form> </div> </div> </div> <div class="bottom"></div> </body> </html>

  • jqGrid tableToGrid "options" parameter

    - by Jimbo
    Basics Hi all, I have see the tableToGrid method (by Peter Romianowski) defined as tableToGrid(selector, options) on the jqGrid wiki, but cannot find anywhere that has documentation of the options Does anyone know about these or where to find them? More What Im actually trying to do is encase the resulting jqGrid in a form, which will submit the checkbox values that are in a column of the table. My problem is that the tableToGrid method appears to be removing the name property from the checkbox elements and hence they are not being submitted with the form post.

  • django: search forms and redirect

    - by gruszczy
    After processing form from POST I should redirect, to prevent user from hitting back. However, I am using form to determine search query on a database, so I need to either pass params to the redirected site or the result of a search. Or maybe there is some other good practice, how to solve this problem? Maybe in this situation I am allowed not to redirect (nothing happens, if user performs search again).

  • GWT FormPanel not submitting in IE - works fine on FF, Chrome, Safari

    - by JohnIdol
    I am using a simple FormPanel in GWT (com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.FormPanel). Once setting the action for the form, in Firefox, Safari, Chrome the submit method works fine while in IE (8) nothing happens when submit is called (I am submitting a form to paypal, not that it matters). I am on GWT 2.0. Is this some kind of known problem? Been looking around but couldn't find anything on the subject. Any help appreciated!

  • Jquery retrieve values of Dynamically created elements

    - by Amitd
    Hi, I have a html page with a form. The form has Div which gets populated dynamically with Input elements like text box,radio,checkbox etc. Now I want to retrieve the values of these dynamically created elements in the Html page,so that i can submit it to a page. //HTML PAGE <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { populateQuestions(); }); $("#submit_btn").click(function() { // validate and process form here //HOW TO ??retrieve values??? var optionSelected = $("input#OptionSelected_1").val();// doesn't work? // alert(optionSelected); postAnswer(qid,values);//submit values showNextQuestion() ;// populate Div Questions again new values }); </script> <form action="" name="frmQuestion"> <div id="Questions" style="color: #FF0000"> </div> //Question DIV generation script example radio buttons //questionText text of question //option for question questionOptions // **sample call** var question = createQuestionElement("1","MCQ", "WHAT IS ABCD??", "Opt1$Opt2$Opt3"); question.appendTo($('#Questions')); function createQuestionElement(id, type, questionText, questionOptions) { var questionDiv = $('<div>').attr('id', 'Question'); var divTitle = $('<div>').attr('id', 'Question Title').html(questionText); divTitle.appendTo(questionDiv); var divOptions = $('<div>').attr('id', 'Question Options'); createOptions(id, "radio", questionOptions, divOptions); divOptions.appendTo(questionDiv); return questionDiv; } function createOptions(id, type, options, div) { var optionArray = options.split("$"); // Loop over each value in the array. $.each( optionArray, function(intIndex, objValue) { if (intIndex == 0) { div.append($("<input type='" + type + "' name='OptionSelected_" + id + "' checked='checked' value='" + objValue + "'>")); } else { div.append($("<input type='" + type + "' name='OptionSelected_" + id + "' value='" + objValue + "'>")); } div.append(objValue); div.append("<br/>"); }

  • Zend_Form MultiCheckbox not checking boxes

    - by azz0r
    $groups = Model_UserGroup::load_links($object->id); foreach ($groups as $item) { $object->group[$item->group_id] = $item->enabled; } $array_object = (array) $object;//turn the object to an array so zend_form can use it $form->populate($array_object); enabled = 1 or 0 In the form class: $group = new Zend_Form_Element_MultiCheckbox('group'); $groups = Model_Group::load_all(); $new_item = array(); foreach ($groups as $item) { $group->addMultiOption($item->id, $item->name); } However the top group is the only one ever checked. Anyone spot anything glaringly wrong? I know its difficult to get a grasp of my layout/setup for this. Here is the array_object: Array ( [table_name] => User [id] => 112 [updated] => 1269428783 [created] => 1153237813 [group] => Array ( [1] => 1 [3] => 1 ) ) Here is the html zend_form is creating: <dd id="group-element"> <label for="group-1"><input name="group[]" id="group-1" value="1" checked="checked" type="checkbox">Administrator Access</label><br> <label for="group-2"><input name="group[]" id="group-2" value="2" type="checkbox">Content Admin</label><br> <label for="group-3"><input name="group[]" id="group-3" value="3" type="checkbox">Administrator</label><br> <label for="group-4"><input name="group[]" id="group-4" value="4" type="checkbox">Studio</label> </dd> edit: just done a small test and made the $groups (in the first set of code tags) empty and it still ticks the first box. hm Fixed this by doing: // $selected_groups = Model_UserGroup::load_links($object->id); $group_ticks = array(); foreach ($selected_groups as $item) { if ($item->enabled == 1) { $group_ticks[] = $item->group_id;//$form->group->setValue($item->group_id); } } $form->group->setValue($group_ticks); //

  • Django/jquery: Address forms - dyamically adding state drop down list if country is United States?

    - by User
    I have a django html form for address information. There is standard street, city, state/province, postal code, country fields. The country field is a drop down list. How can I make the state/province field a drop down list if the selected country is united states and a free form text box if the country is anything else? I'd prefer not to have to do a round trip to the server so probably through jquery?

  • Is this a problem typically solved with IOC?

    - by Dirk
    My current application allows users to define custom web forms through a set of admin screens. it's essentially an EAV type application. As such, I can't hard code HTML or ASP.NET markup to render a given page. Instead, the UI requests an instance of a Form object from the service layer, which in turn constructs one using a several RDMBS tables. Form contains the kind of classes you would expect to see in such a context: Form= IEnumerable<FormSections>=IEnumerable<FormFields> Here's what the service layer looks like: public class MyFormService: IFormService{ public Form OpenForm(int formId){ //construct and return a concrete implementation of Form } } Everything works splendidly (for a while). The UI is none the wiser about what sections/fields exist in a given form: It happily renders the Form object it receives into a functional ASP.NET page. A few weeks later, I get a new requirement from the business: When viewing a non-editable (i.e. read-only) versions of a form, certain field values should be merged together and other contrived/calculated fields should are added. No problem I say. Simply amend my service class so that its methods are more explicit: public class MyFormService: IFormService{ public Form OpenFormForEditing(int formId){ //construct and return a concrete implementation of Form } public Form OpenFormForViewing(int formId){ //construct and a concrete implementation of Form //apply additional transformations to the form } } Again everything works great and balance has been restored to the force. The UI continues to be agnostic as to what is in the Form, and our separation of concerns is achieved. Only a few short weeks later, however, the business puts out a new requirement: in certain scenarios, we should apply only some of the form transformations I referenced above. At this point, it feels like the "explicit method" approach has reached a dead end, unless I want to end up with an explosion of methods (OpenFormViewingScenario1, OpenFormViewingScenario2, etc). Instead, I introduce another level of indirection: public interface IFormViewCreator{ void CreateView(Form form); } public class MyFormService: IFormService{ public Form OpenFormForEditing(int formId){ //construct and return a concrete implementation of Form } public Form OpenFormForViewing(int formId, IFormViewCreator formViewCreator){ //construct a concrete implementation of Form //apply transformations to the dynamic field list return formViewCreator.CreateView(form); } } On the surface, this seems like acceptable approach and yet there is a certain smell. Namely, the UI, which had been living in ignorant bliss about the implementation details of OpenFormForViewing, must possess knowledge of and create an instance of IFormViewCreator. My questions are twofold: Is there a better way to achieve the composability I'm after? (perhaps by using an IoC container or a home rolled factory to create the concrete IFormViewCreator)? Did I fundamentally screw up the abstraction here?

  • Input labels for dynamically loaded HTML content

    - by treznik
    I have a form that is dynamically loaded through AJAX and dumped with innerHTML inside an area of a website. The problem I seem to encounter is that the labels don't seem to point to the inputs they're tied to, when clicked. I'm sure the markup is correct because if I open that form html code separately the labels work. Is there a solution to re-initialize somehow this sort of event natively? I'm not looking into simulating the behavior with JS. Thanks!

  • If spambots are filling out forms on my website, should I mark the mail as spam?

    - by rob
    Apparently spambots have discovered the contact forms my website. I'm considering adding a CAPTCHA, but in the meantime I've been getting dozens of completed website forms in my Gmail account each day. I know I can configure a filter to always allow e-mails from my website to be delivered (i.e., "never send to spam"), but I'm wondering whether there are also larger implications. At first, I was marking the spam forms as spam because I figured it would block the sender's e-mail address from getting through again. But since then, I've given it some more thought. I know many spam filters use Bayesian filters and other techniques to identify spam based on its content. If I mark all these e-mails as spam, will legitimate e-mails from my website be marked as spam? Even if I stop marking the messages as spam, I can see another potential problem. My form is pretty standard (in fact, it's probably very similar to other online forms). If I mark my spambot-submitted website forms as spam, will Gmail begin to mark other people's similar-looking messages as spam?

  • ASP.NET MVC - ValidationMessageFor

    - by Murat
    Hi, I have asked this question on asp.net forums (http://forums.asp.net/t/1545006.aspx) but i had no valid answer therefore i'll try this here as well. I was working on migrating MVC1 app to MVC2 today and i have come across a problem while changing the ValidationMessage to ValidationMessageFor implementation. The below is the selectlist in my View <%=Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.SecurityQuestions[0].Question, "Some Security question", new { @class = "form_element_select" })%> The below code works fine and i can see the validation message came from modelstate. <%= Html.ValidationMessage("SecurityQuestions_0__Question")%> but this one does not work: <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.SecurityQuestions[0].Question)%> SecurityQuestions is a generic list in my model public List<SecurityQuestion> SecurityQuestions { get; set; } Is this somewhat a bug in "ValidationMessageFor" or am i missing something here?

  • ASP.NET: Dynamically enable or disable RequiredFieldValidator based on value of DropDownList

    - by Jeremy
    I have an ASP.NET form with three text inputs, one each for "Work Phone", "Home Phone" and "Cell Phone". Each of these text inputs has a RequiredFieldValidator associated with it. I also have a DropDownList where the user can select the preferred phone type. I want to only require the field that is selected in the DropDownList. For example, if the user selects "Work Phone" from the DropDownList, I want to disable the RequiredFieldValidator for "Home Phone" and "Cell Phone", thereby only making the "Work Phone" field required. I have a method that enables and disables these validators based on the value of the DropDownList, but I cannot figure out when to call it. I want this method to run before the validation takes place on the page. How would I do that? Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks.

  • Hibernate: Found: float, expected: double precision

    - by Frederic Morin
    I have a problem with the mapping of Oracle Float double precision datatype to Java Double datatype. The hibernate schema validator seems to fail when the Java Double datatype is used. org.hibernate.HibernateException: Wrong column type in DB.TABLE for column amount. Found: float, expected: double precision The only way to avoid this is to disable schema validation and hope the schema is in sync with the app about to run. I must fix this before it goes out to production. App's evironment: - Grails 1.2.1 - Hibernate-core 3.3.1.GA - Oracle 10g

  • How to handle Booleans/CheckBoxes in ASP.NET MVC 2 with DataAnnotations?

    - by asp_net
    I've got a view model like this: public class SignUpViewModel { [Required(ErrorMessage = "Bitte lesen und akzeptieren Sie die AGB.")] [DisplayName("Ich habe die AGB gelesen und akzeptiere diese.")] public bool AgreesWithTerms { get; set; } } The view markup code: <%= Html.CheckBoxFor(m => m.AgreesWithTerms) %> <%= Html.LabelFor(m => m.AgreesWithTerms)%> The result: No validation is executed. That's okay so far because bool is a value type and never null. But even if I make AgreesWithTerms nullable it won't work because the compiler shouts "Templates can be used only with field access, property access, single-dimension array index, or single-parameter custom indexer expressions." So, what's the correct way to handle this?

  • Model Not Valid Even With No [Required] Attribute

    - by griegs
    I have a model which is validating as False even though I have no validation rules attached to it what so ever. So this is my model; public class QuickQuote { public Enumerations.AUSTRALIA_STATES state { get; set; } public Enumerations.FAMILY_TYPE familyType { get; set; } public Enumerations.CoverLevel hospitalCover { get; set; } public Enumerations.CoverLevel extrasCover { get; set; } public Enumerations.YesNo pregnancy { get; set; } } And in my controller I have; [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Index(IndexFormViewModel fvm) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) return View(fvm); The problem is that unless I put a value into each field it's validating as false even though it shouldn't care. Can anyone see what the problem is here?

  • Preloading Winforms using a Stack and Hidden Form

    - by msarchet
    I am currently working on a project where we have a couple very control heavy user controls that are being used inside a MDI Controller. This is a Line of Business app and it is very data driven. The problem that we were facing was the aforementioned controls would load very very slowly, we dipped our toes into the waters of multi-threading for the control loading but that was not a solution for a plethora of reasons. Our solution to increasing the performance of the controls ended up being to 'pre-load' the forms onto a hidden window, create a stack of the existing forms, and pop off of the stack as the user requested a form. Now the current issue that I'm seeing that will arise as we push this 'fix' out to our testers, and the ultimately our users is this: Currently the 'hidden' window that contains the preloaded forms is visible in task manager, and can be shut down thus causing all of the controls to be lost. Then you have to create them on the fly losing the performance increase. Secondly, when the user uses up the stack we lose the performance increase (current solution to this is discussed below). For the first problem, is there a way to hide this window from task manager, perhaps by creating a parent form that encapsulates both the main form for the program and the hidden form? Our current solution to the second problem is to have an inactivity timer that when it fires checks the stacks for the forms, and loads a new form onto the stack if it isn't full. However this still has the potential of causing a hang in the UI while it creates the forms. A possible solutions for this would be to put 'used' forms back onto the stack, but I feel like there may be a better way. EDIT: For control design clarification From the comments I have realized there is a lack of clarity on what exactly the control is doing. Here is a detailed explanation of one of the controls. I have defined for this control loading time as the time it takes from when a user performs an action that would open a control, until the time a control is accessible to be edited. The control is for entering Prescriptions for a patient in the system, it has about 5 tabbed groups with a total of about 180 controls. The user selects to open a new Prescription control from inside the main program, this control is loaded into the MDI Child area of the Main Form (which is a DevExpress Ribbon Control). From the time the user clicks New (or loads an existing record) until the control is visible. The list of actions that happens in the program is this: The stack is checked for the existence of a control. If the control exists it is popped off of the stack. The control is rendered on screen. This is what takes 2 seconds The control then is populated with a blank object, or with existing data. The control is ready to use. The average percentage of loading time, across about 10 different machines, with different hardware the control rendering takes about 85 - 95 percent of the control loading time. Without using the stack the control takes about 2 seconds to load, with the stack it takes about .8 seconds, this second time is acceptable. I have looked at Henry's link and I had previously already implemented the applicable suggestions. Again I re-iterate my question as What is the best method to move controls to and from the stack with as little UI interruption as possible?
