    When my application is closed, the main controller class removes itself as Observer from the model and then releases the model. Like this: - (void)dealloc { [theModel removeObserver:self forKeyPath:@"myValue"]; [theModel release]; [super dealloc]; } And right after that, the debugger says: 2010-04-29 14:07:40.294 MyProgram[13678:a0f] An instance 0x116f2e880 of class TheModel was deallocated while key value observers were still registered with it. Observation info was leaked, and may even become mistakenly attached to some other object. Set a breakpoint on NSKVODeallocateBreak to stop here in the debugger. Here's the current observation info: <NSKeyValueObservationInfo 0x100288450> ( <NSKeyValueObservance 0x1002aca90: Observer: 0x116f40ec0, Key path: myValue, Options: <New: YES, Old: NO, Prior: NO> Context: 0x0, Property: 0x116f80430> ) where 0x116f2e880 is indeed the model and 0x116f40ec0 is indeed the controller. How can the controller still be an observer when it just removed itself as an observer?

  • Which HTTP redirect status code is best for this REST API scenario?

    I'm working on a REST API. The key objects ("nouns") are "items", and each item has a unique ID. E.g. to get info on the item with ID foo: GET http://api.example.com/v1/item/foo New items can be created, but the client doesn't get to pick the ID. Instead, the client sends some info that represents that item. So to create a new item: POST http://api.example.com/v1/item/ hello=world&hokey=pokey With that command, the server checks if we already have an item for the info hello=world&hokey=pokey. So there are two cases here. Case 1: the item doesn't exist; it's created. This case is easy. 201 Created Location: http://api.example.com/v1/item/bar Case 2: the item already exists. Here's where I'm struggling... not sure what's the best redirect code to use. 301 Moved Permanently? 302 Found? 303 See Other? 307 Temporary Redirect? Location: http://api.example.com/v1/item/foo I've studied the Wikipedia descriptions and RFC 2616, and none of these seem to be perfect. Here are the specific characteristics I'm looking for in this case: The redirect is permanent, as the ID will never change. So for efficiency, the client can and should make all future requests to the ID endpoint directly. This suggests 301, as the other three are meant to be temporary. The redirect should use GET, even though this request is POST. This suggests 303, as all others are technically supposed to re-use the POST method. In practice, browsers will use GET for 301 and 302, but this is a REST API, not a website meant to be used by regular users in browsers. It should be broadly usable and easy to play with. Specifically, 303 is HTTP/1.1 whereas 301 and 302 are HTTP/1.0. I'm not sure how much of an issue this is. At this point, I'm leaning towards 303 just to be semantically correct (use GET, don't re-POST) and just suck it up on the "temporary" part. But I'm not sure if 302 would be better since in practice it's been the same behavior as 303, but without requiring HTTP/1.1. But if I go down that line, I wonder if 301 is even better for the same reason plus the "permanent" part. Thoughts appreciated!

    Hi everyone, I'm working in Visual Studio 2008 using c#. Let's say I have 2 xsd files e.g "Envelope.xsd" and "Body.xsd" I create 2 sets of classes by running xsd.exe, creating something like "Envelope.cs" and "Body.cs", so far so good. I can't figure out how to link the two classes to serialize (using XmlSerializer) into the proper nested xml, i.e: I want: <Envelope><DocumentTitle>Title</DocumentTitle><Body>Body Info</Body></Envelope> But I get: <Envelope><DocumentTitle>Title</DocumentTitle></Envelope><Body>Body Info</Body> Could someone perhaps show me how the two .cs classes should look to enable XmlSerializer to runt the desired nested result?   • How to hide a Mono application on the OSX Dock

    I have a Mono application that should not show on the dock, but will occasionally show a window. I want neither menu bar nor dock icon to show for this application. I have my application wrapped in an app bundle, and my info.plist file has the LSUIElement set to "1". This does not seem to be hiding my application from the Dock. I have tried also calling osascript with the following info in a Process.Start: osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to set visible of process "myapp" to false' This returns a System Event error code: -10006. Thus far, I've had no luck finding out what that means. I've also tried all the standard Hide() and Visibility = false stuff inside Mono. Anyone found a workaround for this, or have an idea a direction I can look in? For the most part, working in Mono has been straightforward .Net coding, but this has me stumped.

    In my .NET web app, I keep basic user info in a user session object. I also usually keep a director class in the session; which is basically just has info about whatever thing it being worked on on that screen (like a customer id). I am trying to keep from adding a ton of sessions. I also want to make sure at any given time ONLY the sessions that are necessary are in memory. This means I need an effective way of managing my session variables. Any suggestions?

I'm getting the following error with SLF4J 1.6.1: SLF4J versions 1.4.0 and later requires log4j 1.2.12 or later http://www.slf4j.org/codes.html#log4j_version Above link recommends using Log4jLoggerAdapter. I have googled and reorganized with my code countless times but have not found a suitable solution. (The code just doesn't "feel right".) Here's how I'm going about it right now.     Hi, I am a Javascript/jQuery/Prototype newcomer and I have a page that has a Prototype function to get info from a database and put it into some input fields. This was made before I came to work on this site and now I've been asked to add a hide/show div function. I tried it in jQuery and there were clashes with the two frameworks, (as found in my previous question). My question now is, how would I go about building a show/hide function in Prototype? I think it will be easier to do it this way than to re-build the info grabber. The page I want to add this to is here. (the green "ny kunde" button should show the div directly below it newCustomer.     I am querying the __Stat_Kind__ kind. It does not return me entities about kinds that currently exist in the datastore but it includes entities about kinds that I had deleted more than a week ago. I am not so much concerned about it returning me the non-existent kinds - the doc does mention this scenario after all. But I am concerned that it does not return me info about my current kinds. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong? To folks on the app engine team: Also, on the dev server neither __Stat_Kind__ nor __Stat_Total__ return any entities. Which means I need to deploy my app to appspot before I can test this behavior. It would be nice if the dev server did return some basic info. Thanks, Keyur

  • VB.net Net after load event?

    I need some way of knowing when a form has finished loading. My reasoning is I have a 2nd form that is loaded when this form loads. The code for this is called from form1.load. Form2 is currently being displayed behind form1 as I am guessing form1 calls an activate or similar at the end of the load so any Activate, BringToFront etc calls on from2 are over ridden. If you look at the code below I have tried adding frmAllocationSearch.Activate, frmAllocationSearch.BringToFront and Me.SendToBack after the call to ShowAlloactionSearchDialog() but these are all wasted as something is happening after the load event is fired to bring Me to the front.     I have a few simple questions, because I got confused reading all difference responses. 1) If I have an xml with prolog: and I'm going to unmarshall it with Java (for example: JaXB). I suppose, that I can't put CROSS OF LORRAINE (http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/2628/index.htm) inside, but I can put "\u2628", correct? 2) I've also heard that UTF-8 doesn't contain it, but anything in Unicode can be saved with encoding UTF-8 (or UTF-16), and here is an example from this page: UTF-8 (hex) 0xE2 0x98 0xA8 (e298a8) Is my reasoning correct? Can I use this form and put it in the xml with utf-8 encoding?

    Hi, I'm saving entities/records with the EF, but i'm curious if there is another way of doing it. I receive a class from a MVC controller method, so basicly i have all the info: the class's properties, including the primary key. Without EF i would do a Sql update (update table set a=b, c=d where id = 5), but with EF i got no further than this: Get an object with ID of 5 Update the (existing) object with the new object Submitchanges. What bothers me is that i have to get the object from the database first, where i have all the info to do an update statement. Is there another way of doing this?

    I created a servlet wich works fine when deployed in a separate war file, but I intend to use it as part of a seam application. I use commons-fileupload but the iterator (see snippet) returns false (only when included in the seam-app).     I have various classes which all contain address details, i.e. AddressLine1, AddressLine2, AddressLine3, Suburb, Town, etc. On the front end, I need to format the address in a particular way, i.e. AddressLine1<br /> AddressLine2<br /> Suburb State Postcode If AddressLine2 does not exist or empty, don't show it. Quite straight-forward. I am trying to determine the best way to show this info. At the moment, the Address property of each class calls a FormatAddress method which writes out the html string. This exists as a method of the class. My opinion is that any formatting should exist from the front-end control i.e. ascx etc. However, if these DetailClasses need to format the same address info, what would be the best option, also making it easier to maintain?

    I know software companies use licenses to protect their softwares, but I also know there are keygen programs to bypass them. I'm a Java developer, if I put my program online for sale, what's a reliable and practical way to protect it ? How about something like this, would it work ? <1> I use ProGuard to protect the source code. <2> Sign the executable Jar file. <3> Since my Java program only need to work on PC [I need to use JDIC in it], I wrap the final executable Jar into an .exe file which makes it harder to decompile. <4> When a user first downloads and runs my app, it checks for a Pass file on his PC. <5> If the Pass file doesn't exist, run the app in demo mode, exits in 5 minutes. <6> When demo exits a panel opens with a "Buy Now" button. This demo mode repeats forever unless step <7> happens. <7> If user clicks the "Buy Now" button, he fills out a detailed form [name, phone, email ...], presses a "Verify Info" button to save the form to a Pass file, leaving license Key # field empty in this newly generated Pass file. <8> Pressing "Verify Info" button will take him to a html form pre-filled with his info to verify what he is buying, also hidden in the form's input filed is a license Key number. He can now press a "Pay Now" button to goto Paypal to finish the process. <9> The hidden license Key # will be passed to Paypal as product Id info and emailed to me. <10> After I got the payment and Paypal email, I'll add the license Key # to a valid license Key list, and put it on my site, only I know the url. The list is updated hourly. <11> Few hours later when the user runs the app again, it can find the Pass file on his PC, but the license Key # value is empty, so it goes to the valid list url to see if its license Key # is on the list, if so, write the license Key # into the Pass file, and the next time it starts again, it will find the valid license Key # and start in purchased mode without exiting in 5 minutes. <12> If it can't find its license Key # on the list from my url, run in demo mode. <13> In order to prevent a user from copying and using another paid user's valid Pass file, the license Key # is unique to each PC [I'm trying to find how], so a valid Pass file only works on one PC. Only after a user has paid will Paypal email me the valid license Key # with his payment. <14> The Id checking goes like this : Use the CPU ID : "CPU_01-02-ABC" for example, encrypt it to the result ID : "XeR5TY67rgf", and compare it to the list on my url, if "XeR5TY67rgf" is not on my valid user list, run in demo mode. If it exists write "XeR5TY67rgf" into the Pass File license field. In order to get a unique license Key, can I use his PC's CPU Id ? Or something unique and useful [ relatively less likely to change ]. If so let's say this CPU ID is "CPU_01-02-ABC", I can encrypt it to something like "XeR5TY67rgf", and pass it to Paypal as product Id in the hidden html form field, then I'll get it from Paypal's email notification, and add it to the valid license Key # list on the url. So, even if a hacker knows it uses CPU Id, he can't write it into the Pass file field, because only encrypted Ids are valid Ids. And only my program knows how to generate the encrypted Ids. And even if another hacker knows the encrypted Id is hidden in the html form input field, as long as it's not on my url list, it's still invalid. Can anyone find any flaw in the above system ? Is it practical ? And most importantly how do I get hold of this unique ID that can represent a user's PC ? Frank

    Hello, We have over 500 sites that we host. All of there ftp information is in a database. Whenever one of our programmers have to add a site they have to get all the info and set it up. However, I found that you can export them and it has all the info except for one problem. The password is encrypted. I am not trying to hack anything, I want to know how to encrypt our passwords so that we can import them using dreamweavers import feature. Can anyone tell me what encryption they use or a link on how to encrypt. I am not interested in decrypting at all because we already have all of them so it would not do me any good.   • CURL on PHP 5.2 works in CLI but not in IIS

    I have a Windows 2003 Server running IIS with php 5.2.8, I'm trying to use CURL, and it works in CLI mode (if i execute php.exe) but it does not seem to be registered when running under IIS. The output of PHP info in both CLI and IIS show the same 'Loaded Configuration File', but under IIS it does not give the CURL info box. c:\program files\php\php.exe -i shows ... Loaded Configuration File => C:\Program Files\PHP\php.ini ... curl cURL support => enabled cURL Information => libcurl/7.16.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8i zlib/1.2.3 phpinfo() ... Loaded Configuration File => C:\Program Files\PHP\php.ini ... NOTE: This server also runs php 5.3 in c:\program files\php-5.3.0 and CURL does properly work with that installation.

  • merging UIImagePickerController image with cameraOverlayView

    Im really in the need for some help and advice. Spent the last week on this and have now just become frustrated as i cant get it to work! Basically, im trying to merge two images into one image to display/save. First the user picks an image from album, it goes to edit image screen where user can move and scale the image. On this screen is an overlay image (320x480) for the person to align there eyes in. Once aligned I want to save this image (edited and overlay) into one and pass the image onto my next screen. It works fine when the image is filling the edit/crop box, but when the image is widescreen with top and bottom not filling the box, then when i save the image the coords of the overlay dont get saved correctly!     I am using Reportviewer to generate a sales invoice to be printed by the user. How can I get databound fields to be printed on every page of a multi page invoice? The invoice is printed on a pre-printed form. I want the printed form to look roughly like: page 1 customer john smith 123 main st. city, CA 90000 some item1 $100 some item2 $150 some item3 $150 page 2 customer john smith 123 main st. city, CA 90000 some item4 $500 some item5 $250 some item6 $950 Total $2100 Using 1 list which contains databound textbox fields for the customer info, and a table for the items. The problem is if there are many items such that the items flow over to page 2, the next page only contains items, and not the customer info which needs to be printed on second page as well. I tried using page header, but I can't use databound items in page header. Please Help!
