• How to implement dual communication between server and client via http

  I have a AJAX client which must receive messages from server. Some messages from server not like request-response type. For example, imaging game in which players can enter. Server must send to client info about player entering. But how can server send message to client via http without request from client? Only decision that i can invent: client send request to server (getNewPlayerEnter request) with big timeout, server checks state of player set, if in set new players are, then server send info to client, if not server 'sleeps' on some time, and after 'sleeping' server checks players set again. I think my desicion a little stupid(maybe not little). How implement it right? p.s. sorry for my english

• Creating a view linking three different node types with two node references

  I have the following content types: Camp - the top level type Registration Information - contains node reference to Camp called Camp Medical Release Form - contains node reference to registration information called Camper I would like to create a View that takes the nid for the Camp, and pulls out all the fields for the Registration Info and Medical Release Form. I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up the various arguments/relationships. I haven't done something that's referenced more than two types. I know it would be smart/best to just combine the Registration Info and Medical Release Form, since it's a 1:1 mapping, but we can't. So... any help would be appreciated!

• Killing a script launched in a Process via os.system()

  I have a python script which launches several processes. Is there a way to have terminate also kill the subshell created by os.system()?

There have been questions about this before on stackoverflow, but the last one was over a year ago (over 400 answers), which is where I got the products listed above. Just wondering if I've overlooked anything produced more recently. Thanks for any help.

  I have a text file which contains some info on extents about all the files in the file system, like below C:\Program Files\abcd.txt 12345 100 23456 200 C:\Program Files\bcde.txt 56789 50 26746 300 ... Now i have another binary which tries to find out about extents for all the files. Now currently i am using linear search to find extent info for the files in the above mentioned text file. This is a time consuming process. Is there a better way of coding this ? Like Implementing any good data structure like BTree. If B+ Tree is used what is the key, branch factor i need to use ?

  I want to get address of instruction that causes external program to SIGSEGV. I tried using ptrace for this, but I'm getting EIP from kernel space (probably default signal handler?). How GDB is able to get the correct EIP? Is there a way to make GDB provide this information using some API? edit: I don't have sources of the program, only binary executable. I need automation, so I can't simply use "run", "info registers" in GDB. I want to implement "info registers" in my own mini-debugger :)

• Symfony 1.4: Deleting a sfGuardUser

  Hi, I'm having some trouble with the following... I have a sfGuardUser table set up normally, and it has a one-to-one relationship with a Profile table, which contains some additional user info. When a user wants to delete themselves from the site, I'd like to retain their info in the Profile table for various purposes BUT delete the sfGuardUser in order to keep that table cleaner/shorter (not just set it to inactive). I was under the impression that I could set the FK in the Profile table to NULL and then delete the sfGuardUser, but it seems the FK-constraint fails. Indeed, it seems I can't delete either and the queries fail: If I try to delete the sfGuardUser, the Profile table will have an invalid FK If I try to delete a Profile, the sfGuardUser will have an invalid FK Other than leaving outdated sfGuardUsers and Profiles in these tables, or having to use a cascaded delete to get rid of both, can anyone tell me if there's any other way around this? Thank you.

  A scroll follow effect is when a part of the web design is always visible, even when the window is scrolled. There are animated and static versions of this. The animated is ok http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index.html But I prefer the fixed version, however I have some bugs: http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index_fixed.html -In Firefox, when you scroll the page, you will see a kind of vertical cut in the lorem ipsum text (below the HERE indication). This is caused by the image tiles of the map, then if you drag and drop the map, the cut will appear in another side. -In Safari, when you scroll the page, the div follows, but the map images stay in the same position. Do you have solutions for theses issues? Thanks.

• C Named pipe (fifo). Parent process gets stuck

  I want to make a simple program, that fork, and the child writes into the named pipe and the parent reads and displays from the named pipe.   I have a C++ program that is reading in info from a file, that stores info seperated by "$$$$". An example of how the file looks is: abc bcd $$$$ def $$$$ qwe gfh $$$$ How can I detect the file has ended, without using the eof() function? I have it set like this, getline(sin,temp) if (temp=="$$$$") { } After reading the last set of four dollars, how can I check the next line to ensure another set of data isn't beginning, and that the file has ended? If the file has indeed ended, I plan on using a boolean flag to terminate the while loop.

  Hi, Anyone has pointers on how to get real time US gas station feeds via webservice ? I'm trying to develop an iphone app that give users real time gas station price near their location. Currently i was wondering is there a legit government service that produce real time gas station price in the US on a daily basis? I heard about http://gasbuddy.com/ but i don't know where they get the data source from and was not sure if i should base on their data as well. On the other hand, there is a bunch of iphone apps on the apple store that show the gas price info. I'm clueless on how did the developers got their source from to get the nearest gas station price locations. Anyone has any suggestion? Thanks for the info :- )

  Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me why this unit test that checks for exceptions fails? Obviously my real test is checking other code but I'm using Int32.Parse to show the issue. Obviously I'm trying to test for this exception and I think I'm missing something in my syntax. • How to quickly access documentation in Xcode 4.5.1?

  How can I quickly access the documentation for a symbol, method, enum, etc. in Xcode 4.5? alt + click on symbol shows a quick-info. Apple removed the dictionary icon which opened the documentation. I tried all other possible shortcuts of the cmd / alt / shift / click mumbo jumbo dance and none of them open the documentation browser. I suppose there is a hidden trick to quickly open it anyways? Edit: Figured out this new quick-info box has a link to the documentation.

  Hey All, Okay, so I have an iphone app that presents the user with a UIWebview of an html page with a form I created. The form has standard stuff like a message box and dropdown boxes. Once the user fills out the form and clicks submit, it saves the information as nsstrings in my program. Okay, no problem there. That all works fine. However, I also wanna be able to edit this form as well. Once I save all this information the user selected in the form (as strings), is there a way to put it back into an html form using an uiwebview so a user of the app can edit the info later on?? I apologize in advance if I didn't give enough info.

• PartCover and TeamCity

  I am using TeamCity to build via a solution file. I am attempting to get "PartCover" to work it. It is easy enough to point it to the partcover.exe, I am just unsure how to get team city to produce a proper report from the results of our nUnit test. I have added the a coverage.zip file to our setup and it is displaying the correct info under the artefacts tab, however under the code coverage tab the only info displayed is "Coverage by assembly" and nothing else. Any help or ideas would be great.

  Currently I am using Microsoft Sync Framework to synchronize databases. I need to gather information per record which is inserted/updated/deleted by Microsoft Sync Framework and do something with this information. The sync speed can go over 50.000 records per minute. So that means my additional code need to be very lightweight otherwise it will be a huge performance penalty. Microsoft Sync Framework raises an SyncProgress event for each record.   I have several locations in tables in a mysql database which i want to have displayed as POI's, the table is too large and changes too frequently to use sql lite so i need to get the info from mysql. I have set up a mapView indicating the device location in mapview using an image at drawable, but i now need to ad the other locations from the database. Then when a user clicks on an item i need a popup with options to route there using google maps navigation, or view mobi site, phone, or email. I am new to android. Please assist. Have gone through the overlay tut but no indication on how to get the info from db. Is there a tut somwhere so i can see some example code to do this?
