• Testing the load factor in my lab [closed]

  I am a system admin in a lab, I have ~90 computers in the lab and I want to check the load factor on them.. meaning, to check how many people are working on the computers hourly.. To see if I need to buy more computers or not. I am looking for a way to build a script to check if a computer is logged on or not.. (0 for log off - 1 for log on) After I will have this data, I know how to build a script to build me the graphs. All the computers are linked via a domain and most of them have windows XP (few windows 7) I'll be happy to get some help. Amihay

• CakePHP Auth how to allow specific controller and actions

  I have a "Posts" and a "Users" controller. I use the Auth Component and I want that all users can visit "Post.index" but only logged in users can visit "User.index". In my app_controller.php I have this $this->Auth->allow('signup', 'confirm', 'index'); but with that all users can visit post.index and user.index. How can I specify a Controller in the allow-method? This didn't work for me: $this->Auth->allow('signup', 'confirm', 'Post.index');

• Sql server execute permission; failure to apply permissions

  I've just migrated from SQL2000 to SQL2008 and I have started getting an execute permission issue on a stored proc which uses sp_OACreate. The rest of the system works fine with the db login which has been setup and added to the database. I've tried: USE master GO GRANT EXEC ON sp_OACreate TO [dbuser] GO But this fails with the following error: Msg 15151, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot find the user 'dbuser', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. I'm logged into the server as sa with full permissions. I can execute a similar sql statement and apply the permissions to a server role, however not a login/user. How do I apply the changes to the specific user/login? I can apply the permissions to the public role and it resolves my issue; however this seems to be a security issue to me which I don't really want to apply to the live server.

• Logging out of Facebook invalidates offline_access token

  I'm getting an offline access token like this: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?scope=offline_access&client_id=MYCLIENTID&redirect_uri=MYREDIRECTURI&client_secret=MYSECRET&code=MYCODE obviously the MYCLIENTID and stuff have been changed for the sake of this post. Anyway, as soon as the user logs out of facebook, the key seems to no longer be valid. Am I not requesting offline_access properly (there's still an "expires" value on it, should there be if it is actually getting offline access), or is that just how it works? If it's the latter, how can I get a key that will persist, regardless of if the user logs out of facebook? I'm sure this is possible, because Tweetdeck can still write to Facebook, even though I'm currently logged out.

I'm not talking about changing the whole text, just part of it, for example if the header contains some fixed text (with keywords of course), and also contains the current date or time/the current number of logged on users/the count of items current in stock/whatever. how would that affect my ranking? is it bad? doesn't make a difference? thanks.

  I am building a Zend Framework application that performs jobs submitted by the user. The actions taken need to be logged to a database. I would like to correlate the job with its log entries. Instead of creating my own logging class, I would like to extend Zend_Log since it provides 99% of the functionality that I need. All I need to do is add a foreign key of the job id to the log data model. Is this possible? I'm also looking for a good example of Zend_Log writing to a database. I haven't searched SO yet. • Drawing up a session value within SQL query? PHP and MySQL

  Hi, on one of my web pages I want my manager user to view all activities assigned to them (personally). In order to do this, I need something like this: $sql = "SELECT * FROM activities WHERE manager = $_SESSION['SESS_FULLNAME']"; Now obviously this syntax is all wrong, but because I am new to this stuff, is there a way I can call up the full name from the user's session within a query? This is so that when I call up the database values to be displayed within the web page, only the activities for the manager who is logged in is displayed. For example, the activities table has a manager column of a full name entry. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

  I have an application wich has Oauth access using Twitter as provider. I also have the ability to ask the logged user permisson to Read and Write in his/her account and once a user authorized the app, I can send tweets as the user with something like: u = User.find(id) u.twitter.update("Some-Status-Here") in the rails console... What I want to do is to Tweet as all the users in one command, but if I try something like: u = User.all u.twitter.update("Some-Status-Here") I get this error: undefined method `twitter' for #<Array:0x00000002e2f188> How can I tweet as all the users in one command? What am I doing wrong? I feel it is a very basic thing I'm missing... Can someone help me? Thank You.

  Hi Folks, I am using win Vista, and I am trying to backup some Database under DB2. I am logged in using the Administrator user, and whenever I try to issue the backup command in the "command line processor", I get the following message: SQL1092N "ADMINISTRATOR" does not have the authority to perform the requested command. SQLSTATE=00000 BTW, I have created a username/password pair (db2admin) while installing the DB2 server. So, Will this problem will be get solved if I use the db2admin user? And how to connect to the server (local server BTW) using the db2admin user ?

• ASP NET forms Authorization: how to reduce duration?

  I've got a web page which is implementing cookie based ASPNET Forms Authentication. Once the user has logged in the page, he can edit some information using a form which is created using a partialview and returned to him as a dialog for editing. The action linked to the partial view is decorated as follows: [HttpGet] [OutputCache(Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "None")] [Authorize(Roles = "test")] public ActionResult changeTripInfo(int tripID, bool ovride=false) { ... } The problem i am experiencing is the latency between the request and the time when the dialog is shown to the user: time ranges between 800 and 1100 ms which is not justified by the complexity of the form. Investigating with Glimpse turns out that the time to process the AuthorizeAttribute (see snip) sums up to at least 650 ms which is troubling me. Looking at the Sql server log, the call which checks the user roles takes, as expected, virtually nothing (duration 0). How can I reduce this time? Am I missing some optimization?

  I'm building three web applications in .NET that will all share a users database and login information. Lets pretend that application 1 is the "parent" application and applications "A" and "B" are the "child" applications. All users have to be logged into application 1 to have access to applications A and B. Authorization, Authentication, and MachineKey sections of all web configs are present and work correctly. I have the correct web.config settings in all applications to achieve Single Sign On except one problem remains: what do I put in the "loginUrl" attribute of the forms tag in Applications A and B. Assume that the url for the login to application 1 is "www.johnsapp.com/login.aspx" How can I get applications A and B to send the user back to application 1 for authentication using only settings in web.config?

• jQuery: What listener do I use to check for browser auto filling the password input field?

  Hi, I have a simple problem that I cannot seem to find a solution to. Basically on this website here: http://dev.supply.net.nz/vendorapp/ (currently in development) I have some fancy label animations sliding things in and out on focus & blur. However once the user has logged in once the browser will most likely remember the password associated with the users email address/login. (Which is good and should not be disabled.) However I run into issues triggering my label slide out animation when the browser sets the value on the #password field automatically as the event for this is neither focus nor blur. Does anyone know which listener to use to run my function when the browser 'auto fills' the users password? Here is a quick screenshot of the issue:

  I've a JSF-Hibernate web application. I need to authenticate users against a Windows AD and the web application should only allow logins from members of group X, otherwise it should redirect to an error page. How can I configure this? Also, I would like to display the name of the logged-in user on all pages, not the name of the Windows user of the server machine. I have tried the System.property("user.name") for this, but this only returns the name of the Windows user of the server name.

  I am trying to scrape a suppliers magento site in an effort to save some time because of there being around 2000 products I need to gather info for. I'm totally OK with writing a screen scraper for pretty much anything but i've encountered a major problem. Im using get_file_contentsto gather the html of the product page. The problem is: You need to be logged in, to view the product page. Its a standard magento login, so how can I get round this in my screen scraper?   Hi , We have developed implemented single sign on methodology to authenticate user. When a page is requested, if it is not authenticated then a login page will be redirected. Once they logged in the requested page will be shown. this is working when we don't assign a domain to the virtual directory. But when we assign the domain to virtual directory after the authentication the application is not redirecting to the requested page. We are using FormsAuthentication.GetRedirectUrl method to redirect the requested page. Why this is happening? How can we resolve this issue?

• Problem with session based login after moving relevent files to site root

  Hello I have a site which I have been testing in a sub-folder of my clients site-root. I had no log in problems during testing, but then I moved the new site files from a sub-directory to the main site root, and now I'm losing my logged in state after almost every page refresh in secure areas. I am running a $_session based login system that refreshes the session id on every page load, with a comparison value stored in the MySQL database. Does anyone have suggestions for what could be causing this problem?

  An insert query is constantly getting logged in my MySQL slow query log. I want to see how much time the INSERT query is taking with 100 simultaneous insert operations(to the same table). So I need to simulate the follwoing. 500 different simultaneous connections from PHP to the same database on a mysql server, all of which are inserting a row(simultaneously) to the same table.   I have an app with multiple users. Each user as a theoretical role (user, client, etc). I've designed a view/controller for each user type. I want to be able to login each type of user do a different root url and lock them to it. Originally I was going to add a column to Users in Devise called role and so I can differentiate the users. The problem I'm having is how to say in routes.rb if current_user.role == "client" root :to = 'controller#index' Once they are logged in to the page I also want to keep them from being able to visit any of my other paths ie: domain.com/calls domain.com/units I've been looking into cancan to run alongside Devise but I'm not sure if this is the answer.

• deleting a large number of rows from a table

  We have a requirement to delete rows in the order of millions from multiple tables as a batch job (note that we are not deleting all the rows, we are deleting based on a timestamp stored in an indexed column). Obviously a normal DELETE takes forever (because of logging, referential constraint checking etc.). I know in the LUW world, we have ALTER TABLE NOT LOGGED INITIALLY but I can't seem to find the an equivalent SQL statement for DB2 v8 z/OS. Any one has any ideas on how to do this really fast? Also, any ideas on how to avoid the referential checks when deleting the rows? Please let me know.

• How do you log php errors with CakePHP when debug is 0?

  I would like to log PHP errors on a CakePHP site that has debug = 0. However, even if I turn on the error log, like this: error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_DEPRECATED log_errors = On it doesn't log errors. The problem is that even for a parse error that should cause the CakePHP environment to not load completely (I think), it still blocks the error from being logged. If I set debug to 3, it logs to the file without issue. I am using CakePHP 1.2. I know this is apparently made easier in 1.3, but I'm not ready to upgrade.
