  There is a new version of jtreg available. The primary new feature is support for tests that have been written for use with TestNG, the popular open source testing framework. TestNG is supported by a variety of tools and plugins, which means that it is now possible to develop tests for OpenJDK using those tools, while still retaining the ability to have the tests be part of the OpenJDK test suite, and run with a single test harness, jtreg. jtreg can be downloaded from the OpenJDK jtreg page: http://openjdk.java.net/jtreg. TestNG support jtreg supports both single TestNG tests, which can be freely intermixed with other types of jtreg tests, and groups of TestNG tests. A single TestNG test class can be compiled and run by providing a test description using the new action tag: @run testng classname The test will be executed by using org.testng.TestNG. No main method is required. A group of TestNG tests organized in a standard package hierarchy can also be compiled and run by jtreg. Any such group must be identified by specifying the root directory of the package hierarchy. You can either do this in the top level TEST.ROOT file, or in a TEST.properties file in any subdirectory enclosing the group of tests. In either case, add a line to the file of the form: TestNG.dirs = dir ... Directories beginning with '/' are evaluated relative to the root directory of the test suite; otherwise they are evaluated relative to the directory containing the declaring file. In particular, note that you can simply use "TestNG.dirs = ." in a TEST.properties file in the root directory of the test group's package hierarchy. No additional test descriptions are necessary, but test descriptions containing information tags, such as @bug, @summary, etc are permitted. All the Java source files in the group will be compiled if necessary, before any of the tests in the group are run. The selected tests within the group will be run, one at a time, using org.testng.TestNG. Library classes The specification for the @library tag has been extended so that any paths beginning with '/' will be evaluated relative to the root directory of the test suite. In addition, some bugs have been fixed that prevented sharing the compiled versions of library classes between tests in different directories. Note: This has uncovered some issues in tests that use a combination of @build and @library tags, such that some tests may fail unexpectedly with ClassNotFoundException. The workaround for now is to ensure that library classes are listed before the test classes in any @build tags. To specify one or more library directories for a group of TestNG tests, add a line of the following form to the TEST.properties file in the root directory of the group's package hierarchy: lib.dirs = dir ... As before, directories beginning with '/' are evaluated relative to the root directory of the test suite; otherwise they are evaluated relative to the directory containing the declaring file. The libraries will be available to all classes in the group; you cannot specify different libraries for different tests within the group. Coming soon ... From this point on, jtreg development will be using the new jtreg repository in the OpenJDK code-tools project. There is a new email alias jtreg-dev at openjdk.java.net for discussions about jtreg development. • Virtualize a 64 bit guest OS on 32 bit host OS

  If you want to run a 64 bit virtual machine on a 32 bit host you have two options 1. VMWare Server (or a Workstation version that supports 64bit guests) 2. Sun Virtual box Though 64 bit guests on 32 bit hosts is possible, it requires that you are running x64 (not ia64) hardware. All the new Intel processors are 64 bit compatible (if you have T5200/T550 on your laptop, you are out of luck) VMWare has a free tool you can download to check whether your machine can run 64bit guests. Microsoft Vitual PC and Microsoft Windows Virtual PC do not support 64 bit guests. Also Hyper-V will run only on a 64 bit host.   i have installed nagios core 4 on ubuntu server 12.04 lts.. everything working fine,, but... i have a problem with remote command to a remote linux (ubuntu server 12.04) pc! when i try to check a service, for example: check_swap, check_disk etc.. i got everytime an error: Remote command execution failed: /home/nagios/plugins/check_disk: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by /home/nagios/plugins/check_disk) the remote pc is not my pc and i don't want to make a disaster! :) So... how can i fix this problem? any help be appreciate!!! ;) thanks in advance! :)

• Unrecoverable error during WUBI installation

  I tried to install 12.10 on my PC with Windows 7 installed, but I don't have a CD drive and my PC doesn't support USB booting, so I tried the Windows Installer (WUBI). I had the ISO image mounted with daemon tools, so the Windows installer took those files and used them (I guess, because it didn't download any files). Everything went right, but when it prompted me to reboot, I rebooted the PC and then it starts to install, but when the installation process starts, a message that says: The installation found a unrecoverable error. pops out and makes me reboot, then when I select Ubuntu in the operating system selection screen, it says that an error occurred.

  I have a gaming headset and use it with a few devices and am looking for a way to stream my audio through my pc from tv through the mic jack and then through the optical out. the system is detecting sound from the mic port. I would put this directly through the headset but that port is being used by my ps3. So I would like a way as I said to stream it through my pc to my headset, and it be great to have an integrated volume option in the sound drop down too. [TV - mic - Ubuntu - headset(optical out)] Ubuntu 13.04 EDIT I found part of a solution. Solution by installing pavucontrol and using "pactl load-module module-loopback latency_msec=1" I can stream the audio through my pc.

• What is the best way to restrict adult content on 12.04 LTS

  I bought my kids a PC and installed 12.04 (Unity) on it. The bottom line is, I want my children to use the computer unsupervised while I have confidence they cannot access anything inappropriate. What I have looked at: I was looking at Scrubit which allows me configure my wifi router but this solution would also affect my other PC and mobile devices. This is not feasible as I just want the solution to work on one PC. I also did some Google searches and came across Nanny (it seems to look the part). My experience of OSS is that the best solutions frequently never appear first on a Google search list so my question is very specific. I want to leverage your knowledge and experience to understand “What is the best way to restrict adult content on 12.04 LTS” as this is important to me.   I was playing with my phone (that runs a Linux/X stack) last night and I managed to ssh into my desktop and run an application and have it show up on my phone. It was awesome. Today I'd like to sort of do the opposite. I want to view an application running on my phone on my PC. I could install a SSH server on my phone but I frankly don't fancy that purely for security reasons. I want this to be initiated from my phone. Is there a way to connect from my phone and tunnel the PC's X connection back to the phone and then run an application on the phone that show on the PC?

Still the ISSUE is that if i start as administrator, for example: gram@gram-pc:~$ alacarte will edit menu, till the time i close app. it doesn't have permission for that... so nothing in menu has been changed... gram@gram-pc:~$ gksudo alacarte or root@gram-pc:/# alacarte will open completely different menu with completely different items... how can i grand permission to edit my-not-root-menu?

  Ok, I hope this is not too much confusing (with my poor English). I want to build a small .Net 4.0 app which monitors several other applications on a Windows Server OR on a regular Windows PC. It will have a WPF GUI with a variety of graphical controls. The app will be used in the following scenarios: If installed on a PC it should run as a “normal” single Windows desktop app If installed on a Server, it should run as a Windows Service. To use/manage the app it must have the same WPF GUI as in scenario 1 and the GUI should be run on the Server or on a remote PC At the moment I consider to write the application logic and connect it to the WPF GUI using a self-hosted WCF Data Service IN BOTH SCENARIOS. Since I’m not a pro developer I suppose it’s possible that I've missed something ;-) Will this work? Are there other/better solutions? Any answer or comment is highly appreciated.

  How can I have my google-calendars availabe offline on my PC as well? I have been using dropbox to sync my calendars in ics-format between different PC's instead of using google calendar. The disadvantage of google-calendar is, that I can only see my appointments when online. Now I want to sync my calendars with my android device as well, what does not seem to be possible yet. So I am planning to have an online copy of all my appointments on Google-Calendar, in order to sync them with my Android device. At the same time I want to be able to access my appointments offline (have an offline copy of each calendar on my PC's synced via Dropbox). Is there a way to automatically duplicate and sync Coogle-Calendars with Ubuntu to achieve this?   Ok this is my problem... My problem begins while ago when I installed ubuntu 10.10. (is the same with 11.04,11.10...) My wireless card is disabled if the power cord is unplugged, and the only way to fix this is rebooting my pc WITH the power cord plugged and if I use lspci command, it doesn't show me the wireless card. is like if I've removed the wireless board from my laptop port. I've searched a lot of solutions for bcmw4311 issues, but none of them fix my problem because when apply one of the fixes, if I unplug the cord, my wireless card it just gone away... I have dual boot on my pc(w7,ubuntu), I've tried with full installation just to see if this is the problem, but not, is the same. On windows all work correctly with and without power cord.. so this is not a hardware problem, is more like a kernel problem. anyway I can use wireless with power cord plugged, but c'mon this is a laptop not a desktop pc XD haha any help is welcome

• Menu to let me choose OS to run in a dual boot machine

  I recently re-imaged my Dell PC to dual-install Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. The dual-boot was a success, since I was able to start whichever OS I wanted. Now, I installed some software (the OpenJDK package) on the Ubuntu side of the PC. Upon restarting Ubuntu, I unfortunately lost the ability to choose the OS that I wanted to run (i.e., Ubuntu). Ordinarily, I'd expect to: 1. Hit the power button 2. A menu (Grub?) shows up listing all OSs installed in the PC (namely, Win7 and Ubuntu) 3. Choose which OS I want and hit enter. bingo. The problem is that I don't see that menu (step 2 above). Instead, windows automatically starts, even when I hit F12 to see the boot options, none of which I understand. Your help would be great! • A tale of UAC on a Windows 7 Development Machine

  This week I faced an interesting problem on a Windows 7 Development PC. I have run MakeLog (http://commondata.codeplex.com/releases/view/13206) sucessfully on my PC but my colleague could not run it sucessfully. Both of us are local administrators, so what I could do on my PC, he should have been able to do. The cure was to turn UAC completely off and re-boot. Once re-booted, the installation ran without incident. While I would never suggest turning off UAC normally, on development PCs, it is a liability as it stops many normal operations and occasionaly without giving a prompt.
