  • Problem with running open office from the command line

    Yesterday I installed OpenOffice on my Linux server. But when I go to run it through the command line, it says command cannot be found. I've also tried other things like OOWriter, etc. Has anyone had this problem?     So, i am in the process of tweaking my spending and i need to change my backup plan... I am currently using a mix of JungleDisk and ZManda ZCB to backup files on my MacBook Pro, Main Windows Server Wrokstation, a dedicated Windows Server in a datacenter, and various other machines and file sources. The problem is the cost: this month, it has cost me about $90 to backup a little over 500Gb... This amount of data will increese over time too, since i am backing up Photos (24Mb RAW images + 4-8MB JPEGs), Videos (various cameras shooting 720p and 1080p), Music, Movies, TV shows and Apps from iTunes (though with iTunes cloud, this might not need to be backed up again) and source code... I have looked at the likes of Mozy, CrashPlan+ and Pro, Backblaze and Carbonite, but each have their problems: Mozy seems overly expenvice per gig at 50C Crashplan wont sell to me since i am outside the US (they hide it on their site... hidden in the FAQ section!) Backblaze dont support Windows Server Carbonite business pricing is $600 up front for 500Gb of storage... Fro $229, they will not backup Windows Servers. So, other than those, Jungle Disk (at 15c per Gig) or ZManda (also at 15c per Gig) what other options are there? what are other people using?

I have setup Firefox under a localuseradmin with the file types set to open automaticly and then I copied the Firefox/Mozilla folders into the /system/library/user template/ but when a new user logs in the file type association is set back to default when Firefox runs.

    There are actually 3 errors here. When I open Word, I get: Word cannot open the existing global template. () If I create a file, type a character and try to save to the desktop (that I have no problems writing to otherwise), I get: Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full or write-protected. Try one or more of the following: * Free more memory * Make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged. () I am just saving to the desktop, and I can save excel files (or anything else) there. After the failure, if I save again, the default file name becomes: .doc...doc Weird. Finally, when I close word completely, I get: Do you want to replace the existing Normal.dotm.

  • Can't login to SQL Server after moving machine to different office/domain

    Our company has just been bought and the over the weekend I have brought up the last few machines to plug into their network (they are under a different Windows Domain). The last machine is our Vault system and the SQL Server was using Windows Authentication. I have plugged it into their network and its working fine, but i cannot connect to SQL Server with Management Studio and, I fear, no backup jobs will also be working. When I try to login under Windows Auth, it has the user name of "NEWDOMAIN\Administrator" (greyed out) and then presents a "login failed" message with error code "18456". Can anyone help me with this, or will I just have to reinstall SQL Server, Vault and restore the backup I took before the move?

    Hello, I'm studying up with both Microsoft and Cisco literature and I must say, my head is starting to get clustered up (pun intended). I've made a quick network diagram of a theoretical company... Company1 owns Company 2 and Company 3, which are all under separate rooms and networks, but must be able to share a few resources such as files or printers. Given the amount of info out there and best practices, I thought about posting here to get suggestions and see what would the pro's do. I can read and read all day and implement on my own, but if I dont get some outside input, how will I know if I'm doing something wrong, right? anyway, please take a look and see if this is an over-complicated network or a lackluster design for a small-medium company of about 35 people and lets say they will be double that number by end of the year... :) Using win2k3, esxi, windows xp. Exchange is installed in a safe LAN, there is a Linux relay in DMZ that feeds messages to Exchanges and gets from it the messaged to be delivered on the Net (smart relay). The mail traffic is about 2000 Internet messages/day and probably another 2000 msg/day sent by local users within the organization. The servers hosts 200 users.

  • Looking for ballpark pricing on an affordable a Cisco VOIP solution for our office

    We have about 8 incoming PSTN lines that are currently on an old and antiquated Nortel Meridian ICS system. This system has been giving us some grief. We're looking for a new VOIP solution. I've been looking at a Cisco solution and it does seem pricey but I'm sure effective. Unfortunately, we probably can't afford a Cisco Unified Communications 520 which seems to be the ideal solution. We have about 15 people who need an extension and voicemail. We really don't have any need for a fancy system just an auto attendant of some sort when people call us. It looks like we'll have to get an older router and an addon card for what we're looking for to get best value pricing. However, I don't know a a lot about Cisco voice products so I'm a bit lost as to what to get. The only thing I am sure on is the pricing on VOIP phones which we expect to be about ~$100-200. However, I'm not sure what pieces of VOIP infrastructure to get. Any advice? I am familiar with Asterisk but right now I'm looking on pricing concerning a Cisco solution.

But i couldnt make it up !!! i have installed xampp using xamppinstaller.exe and its version is 3.1.0. i am heidisql Gui for database managament i tried the same by changing the # bind-address from "127.0.0.1" to my system ip address as # bind-address to "192.168.1.69" After changing and restarting my xampp mysql i went to other system and tried to login (hedisql) with the hostname 192.168.1.69 and it gave me an error saying Error 1130(0000): host' ....' is not allowed to connect to this mysql server. what should i do please help me !!

  • Text Formatting toolbar continuously disappears in Impress (open office)

    This is a very weird and annoying problem. Not sure if it's a bug or a "feature" I'm using OpenOffice 3.2 (within Ubuntu 10.04). The Text Formatting toolbars disappear in many circumstances, e.g. each time I click out of a writing area. It's becoming very time consuming to go to View-Toolbars-TextFormatting to re-enable it each time. 3 questions: is this expected behavior, and if so, is there any setting where I can change it? (note this wasn't happening in the past with other presentation I made)? is there a workaround, such as defining a shortcut like CTRL-whatever that would make the toolbar appearing without menu joggling? is anybody experiencing this too, especially someone using LibreOffice?

  • Delete cell content in Libre (Open) Office based on the cell value

    I have a huge csv file (tens of thousands of rows) that I need to filter based on different criteria. After trying to find a proper CSV editor, I decided to use LibreOffice Calc. CSVed is great, but it doesn't support neither UTF-8 nor macros for advanced filtering. So, there are 4 columns, 3 of which contain numbers (with decimal numbers) and 1 of which contains text. I'm trying to find a way to delete rows with a macro code. I can achieve the desired behavior with filters too, but it's annoying to type all of the filtering values over and over again and there doesn't seem to be a way to export the filter and us it repeatedly. These rows should be deleted: The ones that don't contain certain words in textual column (column A). There are a few thousand different words used in that column and I want to keep only the rows that contain one of about 30 words in that column. Additionally, the number is the other columns should be bigger than 3.8 (column B), 4.5 (column C) and smaller than 20 (column C). The row-deletion type is "Shift up". Hopefully I have explained it well. Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

  • PDF form created in Libre Office - trouble with form fields and font sizing

    I am trying to create a PDF Form using LibreOffice. I can create the form elements and export as PDF. However, the form fields are giving me problems. The text in these fields always centers on the bottom, and often the text you input is cut off at the bottom. I found that if I make the fields larger, the text no longer cuts off, but the field is exceptionally large with lots of space above the text. I have made an odt (source) and a pdf (export) file to show what I'm running into. I tried a number of different fonts and sizes, but to make things easier, I made the field names all "field1" so that once you fill out one entry, all fields show as filled in. http://ytnoc.net/files/sampleapp.odt http://ytnoc.net/files/sampleapp.pdf My main question is how do I make form fields that don't cut off the text without having to make the fields way oversized?   • MS Word 2007 Mail Merge fails on ZIP codes with leading Zeros (eg. 01234)

    I have an Excel Spreadsheet with a ZIP code column. For some dumb reason the original spreadsheet I got had all the zip codes stored as numbers, so a ZIP code like 01234 was stored as 1234. Easy to fix with "Format Column" as "Special = ZIP Code". All values like 1234, show up as 01234. Great! When I import it into Word via Mail Merge (to print address labels), the ZIP codes on all the addresses starting with a leading zero (like 01234) revert to their old form (1234). How do I fix this?

  • Outlook + Exchange 2007: it is possible to rid of local OST files?

    I am looking for a solution which would allow to use a convenience of Outlook as a mail client app while at the same time have no PST or OST files on a local computer. Even in 'non-caching' mode Outlook creates an OST file where it downloads everything from the Exchange server. OWA does not create any local files (except cookies I believe) but lacks some of the nice features Outlook has. Would it be feasible to place OST files on a network share? Maybe the solution exists for some other client+server pair?
