  • how does selenium webdriver upload files to the browser?

    I am a javascript/java developer and I have been trying to figure out how the selenium webdriver automation framework uploads files from the file system. It is impossible to set a file input via javascript because it is a security violation. Yet somehow webdriver is able to do this with the following command: driver.setFileDetector(new LocalFileDetector()); WebElement upload = driver.findElement(By.id("myfile")); upload.sendKeys("/Users/sso/the/local/path/to/darkbulb.jpg"); driver.findElement(By.id("submit")).click(); So they are setting the value by sending keys to it? I don't get it. I have looked through the source code found here: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/source/checkout I am still not able to find where they do this. Edit: My question is not how to do this with selenium, but how did the selenium developers make this possible? How did they get around the security restrictions in javascript? How are they uploading the file?

I'm not able to know which server is executing on the backend. I'm just wondering which is the best way to compare and synchronize the folders on two servers? An FTP script using the windows "cron-job"? A shell script activated by ASP? Aa ASP script that uses FTP commands? thanks

  • Where should I start with debugging my exchange server?

    I'm (foolishly?) attempting to install Exchange on top of Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) over Virtual Box running on Mac OSX Lion. Everything went smoothly until I got to the "Readiness Checks" tab. Readiness failed spectacularly on Hub Transport Role and Mailbox Role prereqs. Before I go too far down the rabbit hole in attempting to remedy this, I was hoping I could get some input on where to start in all of this. I already set up the following Active Directory roles, but it didn't seem to help: Active Directory Domain Services Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services I also enabled an Application Server role. Those three are the only roles I've set up-- I cannot locate within Server Manager the Organization Manager role or any of the other roles referenced in the list of borkedness below. Is this a typical experience in Exchange installation? Is there a tutorial created by somebody outside of Microsoft?   • Record demo and save as AVI for upload to YouTube?

    Hello I need to record the demo of a program in Windows, and save this into an AVI file so that I can upload it to YouTube. I tried Wink for this, but unless I overlooked it, it saves files as Flash (FLV), which YouTube refused. Is there an open-source alternative? I don't need something hardcore, just a tool that will let me save a demo, and insert a couple of slides where the demo stops to let the user read stuff and click on a button to resume watching.     How can I limit the upload and download bandwidth on my CentOS server? This is a box with a single interface, eth0. Ideally, I would like a command-line solution (I've been trying to use tc), something that I could easily switch on and off in a script. So far I've been trying to do something like tc filter add dev eth0 protocol ip prio 50 u32 police rate 100kbit burst 10240 drop but I'm obviously missing a lot of knowledge and information.     Do I need a Gigabit port capable wireless router with a 24MB/s down and 7MB/s upload speed cable modem? Does anyone know how to calculate this? FYI, I wont be using the wireless connection from my main computer system. My computer will connect via a hard wire into the router (of the wireless variety), which in turn is connected to the cable modem. My research suggests that the 100 MB/s port can easily handle it. Is that true?

  • Can I prevent RequiredFieldValidation from triggering against postbacks from a specific control.

    I have a web form with a number of textbox controls which I've associated RequiredFieldValidator's with. I have a ValidationSummary control on the page to render any incomplete fields when I submit the page. However, I've just had to add an image upload facility to the same page, and have an 'Upload' button which I have posting back to perform the upload. I don't want this upload button to trigger the RequiredFieldValidators for the rest of the page though - I want this upload postback to be ignored as far as the validation goes. What's the best way to stop the RequiredFieldValidator's from firing when I submit this upload button on the page because at the moment, the upload won't occur unless I have first field out all of the other textbox controls on the page.

    I have a pretty basic Paperclip Upload model that is attached to a User model through has_many, and am using Uploadify to do the actual uploading. Flash sends all files with the content type of "application/octet-stream" so using validates_attachment_content_type rejects all files. In my create action, I am able to get the mime-type from the original file name, but only after it's been saved, with: def coerce(params) h = Hash.new h[:upload] = Hash.new h[:upload][:attachment].content_type = MIME::Types.type_for(h[:upload][:attachment].original_filename).to_s ... end and def create diff_params = coerce(params) @upload = Upload.new(diff_params[:upload]) ... end What would be the best way of white listing file types? I am thinking a before_validation method, but I'm not sure how that would work. Any ideas would be welcome.

    Hi, How I can configure the path where the stdout logs are written by the WebLogic server? I've read about -Dweblogic.log.RedirectStdoutToServerLogEnabled=true, but this redirects only part of the output. For example if I will run a thread dump, the output will remain in the original log file. I think it should be an option in nodemanager/startup.properties file. WebLogic version is 10.3.2.0 and I am using a java based node manager. OS is RHEL 5. Thank you, Mircea

    When setting up Profile Manager in Lion Server, there are a few web pages that are generated for web management of both devices and profiles. Is it possible to edit these pages in any way? I am just looking to customize the look and feel without changing the functionality. If editing is possible, where are these pages stored? I have looked through the /Library/Server/ProfileManager and /Library/Server/Web folders without any luck. This is one particular page I would like to edit. Ideally I would like to be able to edit the HTML directly. I am looking to match the page's style with a variety of other pages hosted on the server.

  • System halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds

    I'm using Windows 7 on my HP ProBook 4250s. The problem I face is that my system halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds.   • How to refresh open source software pkg manager on oldish OpenSolaris?

    I'm being presented with an OpenSolaris vps, actually a Solaris Container, which is based on SXCE snv_121 and is active since mid 2007: the good old Sun days, IIRC even before the Indiana stuff! For various reasons the system itself can't be rebuilt/upgraded but we can do whatever we want with the additional package manager on it. My Solaris skills and especially knowledge of the free package managers ecosystem is a bit rusty so I don't know what I can actually use while keeping the somewhat oldish base system. Currently there is pkg-get using some older Blastwave mirror, it has been used to install things such as Apache2, PHP, Python, Nagios. I would like to remove all the old rusty stuff and all of Blastwave, and start fresh with some newer package distribution. Can the current Blastwave system be used on that snv_121? Is there any better alternative still compatible with that system (eg. OpenCSW or anything else) ?

    I have installed the sun java6-jdk package but it's not installed completely. After that it's giving an error when I try to install a new package. In terminal when I write "sudo apt-get install [any package name]" I get an error like this: E: could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock -open (11 Resource temporable ) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg). Also Synaptic package manager is not opening and none of the packages are downloading through any of the methods I know. Please help!

  • Password Manager that can sync a Blackberry and Mac OSX.

    I use a Blackberry Bold and a Macbook Pro. I am looking for a solution to have a synchronized password manager between the two devices. All the commercial ones I have discovered won't work between a Blackberry and a Mac. The almost solution was KeePass. I like the application on the Blackberry but I could not get the sync working reliably to the Mac. As well, I had to run the PC application by using Mono on the Mac and it was pretty slow. I am happy to pay for a good solution.

    Typical example is when shutting down a memoryintensive application. It can take quite a while before the computer gets back up to speed. Is there some inherent cost in releasing memory? Or is it throttled by some kind of harddrive activity, and if so is there any good way to track that? I usually bring up task manager when a computer is running slow, and usually sorting by cpu activity can show what process is causing the problem, but sometimes there is no activity showing. And yes I "show processes from all users", I have been wondering this since the days win2k :)

    I have a Dell laptop that's been experiencing some weirdness lately. Apparently Dell puts "Trusted Drive Manager" on their hardware.. Well, now I keep getting these errors: I tried uninstalling Dell Data Protection, but it says some other package is required for the installation, which I can't install because I'll get another generic error (Dell Data Protection Access Drivers). This error pops up when I first boot, when I open a save file dialog, when I try to do a disk cleanup. How the hell do I get rid of this!?

    The sound on my computer suddenly stopped working. When I check Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel, I get "No Audio Device" with everything grayed out. When I check the Device Manager under "Sound, video and game controllers" I see the following list: Audio Codecs Legacy Audio Drivers Legacy Video Capture Devices Media Control Devices MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device Standard Game Port Video Codecs None of these looks like my sound card. Of course, my sound "card" is not really a sound card, it's integrated with the nVidia-nForce motherboard. I'm running Windows XP. So is one of the above my sound device, or is the OS not detecting it? If the latter, how do I get it to detect it?

    In Virtual Machine Manager admin console, I used the 'New virtual machine' wizard and created a machine from an existing template. When I got to the Configure Hardware step, I selected the primary hard disk (which is a dynamic) disk and tried to increase it's maximum size, but this control is disabled so I can't increase it. It's not big enough for my purposes. how do I increase the maximum size of the hard-disk? Thanks. Edit: I am able to add a second hard disk of a size I specify. That's not useful though as I'm trying to install some software, some of which insists on being on drive C.

To build up our templates we: Create a base template that is a bare bones version of Server 2008 + basic configuration (Windows Update, Firewall exceptions) Create a linked clone for each Server template we need (SQL Server 08, 05, etc) Repeat for other OS's, like Windows 7 and Windows XP Then we create configurations: Create a workspace configuration with multiple images in it (Say Server 08 w/SQL Server and Windows 7) Deploy the configuration and make some minor configuration changes Undeploy and Capture to Library How do we keep this manageable? When I need to update a configuration, should I: Rebuild it from templates Clone it to a workspace, make changes, recapture it to the library keep the configuration in my workspace (don't delete it after capturing it to library), deploy it to make changes and then re-capture to library
