  • ASP.Net: Writing chunks of file..HTTP File upload with resume..

    Please refer to question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2062852/resume-in-upload-file-control Now to find a solution for the above question, I want to work on it and develop a user control which can resume a HTTP File Upload process. For this, I'm going to create a temporary file on server until the upload is complete. Once the uploading is done completely then will just save it to the desired location. The procedure I have thought of is: Create a temporary file with a unique name (may be GUID) on the server. Read a chunk of file and append it to this temp file on the server. Continue step 1 to 3 until EOF is reached. Now if the connection is lost or user clicks on pause button, the writing of file is stopped and the temporary file is not deleted. Clicking on resume again or uploading the same file again will check on the server if the file exists and user whether to resume or to overwrite. (Not sure how to check if it's the same file. Also, how to step sending the chunks from client to server.) Clicking on resume will start from where it is required to be uploaded and will append that to the file on the server. (Again not sure how to do this.) Questions: Are these steps correct to achieve the goal? Or need some modifications? I'm not sure how to implement all these steps. :-( Need ideas, links... Any help appreciated...

    I am trying to manage virtual machines running on a VMware ESXi host using Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager. I was able to add the ESXi machine using the "Add VMware VirtualCenter server" option, but can't access any of the VMs on the datastore associated with this ESXi server. The datastore of the ESXi box is showing up with the correct name, but it won't let me see any of the VMs that have already been created; I get "There are no virtual machines on this host." Because I couldn't get any of the existing virtual machines to show up, I tried creating some new ones. When using VMM to connect to ESXi and create new VMs, I get the following error messages in the "rating explanation" section: The virtualization software on the selected host does not support virtual hard disks on an IDE bus. and The virtualization software on the host XXXXXX does not support the creation of dynamic virtual hard disk. Any ideas on why I can't manage existing machines and why I can't create new ones? The existing machines were created in vSphere. I should note that the ESXi server and the server running SCVMM are both on the same domain. I should also note that although the ESXi box has been added as a VirtualCetner server, when I try to add it through the "Add Host" option, I get an error message saying "Virtual Machine Manager cannot complete the VirtualCenter action on server EXSi because of the following error: The operation is not supported on the object."

  • How do you setup FTP with IIS Manager Users in an NLB environment with shared IIS configs?

    I've setup a 2 node NLB cluster and used the following to share IIS configs between them. http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2012/05/30/configuring-iis-7-5-shared-configuration.aspx The IIS configs and content is located on a network share via a UNC path. This works - updating IIS settings on one node, is visible in another node and my website works on the individual nodes and the cluster as whole. I'm able to setup an FTP site and successfully connect with my Windows login. However, I want to use IIS Manager Authentication as defined in: http://www.iis.net/learn/publish/using-the-ftp-service/configure-ftp-with-iis-manager-authentication-in-iis-7 I've tried using "Network Service" with the FTP COM object as well as a dedicated user account that exists on all three hosts, but every time I try to login with an IIS user I get something like the following: IISWMSVC_AUTHENTICATION_UNABLE_TO_READ_CONFIG An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the authentication information.   • Looking for MDI Manager with tab grouping that allows show and hide of groups?

    I am looking for a MDI manager solution that allows documents to be grouped and show/hidden programmaticly. Example, 3 document types, red, yellow and green. When you click a button the MDI manager shows only the red documents by hiding the other 2 types tabs. None of the MDI managers (Actipro, Infragistics, etx) I have looked at can do this. They require all documents to be visible... Anyone know of a good solution for this in C#? Thanks, Jeff

  • How can an IBM WebSphere MQ's Queue Manager's local queues be enumerated?

    I'm trying to write a simple tool for monitoring the state of a Queue Manager. One of the things I'd like to monitor is the current queue depth of each queue. I haven't been able to find a way to programmatically enumerate all of the queues on a particular Queue Manager, though. Do any of the MQ APIs provide this functionality? I'd prefer to do this with C, but if it's only possible with another language's bindings, I'd at least like to know that.

  • Server 2008R2 Server Manager Roles and Features won't refresh or allow addition of new roles or features

    I have a standalone DC in an isolated lab. I have installed the SUR tool and found no errors. I ran SFC and found no errors. I have attempted to install Windows Backup feature using Powershell, but received the same error about the computer needing to be restarted. Powershell cmdlets will list all of the installed roles and features. The rest of Server Manager works without problems. What can I do to get Server Manager Roles and Features working properly again?     Do I need a Gigabit port capable wireless router with a 24Mbps down and 7Mbps upload speed cable modem? Does anyone know how to calculate this? FYI, I wont be using the wireless connection from my main computer system. My computer will connect via a hard wire into the router (of the wireless variety), which in turn is connected to the cable modem. My research suggests that the 100 Mbps port can easily handle it. Is that true?

    I have an HTC Desire HD, with Android Froyo (2.2) and PDANet installed. I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I cannot tether it over Bluetooth either with Network Manager or BlueMan. (note, I installed Blueman only after failing with NetWork manager, and I even tried the last version from the PPA). With both my device is discovered, paired, setup. But connecting always fail.   • How does Ubuntu One work? Files seem to upload but can not be accessed on another system

    I have two computers running 12.04, I sign into my Ubuntu 0ne account on each computer, "Hi JQPublic" both say. Do I understand correctly that placing a file (specifically an .ogg music file ... simply a song) into the "Ubuntu One" file folder (always synced) on one computer, I should be able to open the "Ubuntu One" file folder on the other computer and find said .ogg, right? That is how this is meant to work, yes? Because it's not what's happening. Nothing uploads (though the first computer claims such). Minutes pass, still nothing. A different experiment: I uploaded a file folder containing a song; the folder was available on both computers, but remained decidedly empty. Any suggestions? I'm otherwise LOVING my return to Ubuntu (left at 9.04). I really am inclined to think that I'm missing something HUGE, that this is all a user (me) error, not a bug ... is it me?   • Can preventing directory listings in WordPress upload folders cause Google ranking drops when they cause 403 errors in Webmaster Tools?

    I recently moved to a new host that blocks crawling to my uploads folders but (hopefully) allows the files in the folder to be crawled. I now show many 403 errors for each folder in the uploads folder in my Webmaster Tools. For example, http://www.rewardcharts4kids.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/ shows a 403 error. For example, I can access this file: http://www.rewardcharts4kids.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/lunch-box-notes.jpg but I cannot access the folder it is in. My rankings went down after I moved to this host and I am wondering if: this could be the reason. is this how files/folders are supposed to be set up?

  • Is it possible to run the GNOME user manager from XFCE4?

    If I run 'gnome-control-center' and click on the 'User Accounts' icon, the gnome-control-center crashes. I built it from source to see what's going on, and it turns out it's doing a if (strcmp(getenv("XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP"), "GNOME")) in panels/user-accounts/um-password-dialog.c, line 690. I don't have an environment variable "XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP", so the getenv is returning NULL, and the strcmp is segfaulting Where is XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP meant to be defined? And shouldn't gnome-control-center check the pointer returned by getenv before passing it to strcmp? Does xfce4 have its own 'User Accounts' tool for creating new users?

  • Concurrency with listeners and upload: is this solution sound?

    I'm working on an Android app. We have listeners for position data and camera capture which is timed on a background thread (not a service). The timer thread dictates when the image is captured and also when the data is cached in a local sqlite db. So, my question is how to properly store the location data as it comes in based on the listeners and pull that data so that the database can be updated as the camera capture is executed. I can't put the location data into the database as it arrives because it is processed more frequently than the camera images and the camera images are what dominates the architecture at the moment. (Location data is supplement). However I need the location data to get a rough location of the where the image is captured. My first thought was to have singleton store the location data. And have a semaphore on the getInstance method so if the database update is happening (after an image is captured) we don't have an error. The location data can wait for the database update or it can be lost for that particular event it doesn't really matter. What are you thoughts? Am I on the right track? (And is this the right sub-site or would this be better on stackoverflow?)

  • How to integrate ubuntu one in pcmanfm (Lubuntu file manager)?

    I have installed ubuntu-one on a Lubuntu machine and indeed the file syncing works for all the folder that are shared. My problem is that while on my ubuntu machine I can right click a folder and mark it as shared, I could not find a way to do the same under pcmanfm. The only workaround I was able to find is to use the daemon via command-line: u1sdtool --create-folder . which works but is kind of clumsy.... any way to integrate in the GUI?

    I'm writing a little 2d rendering framework with managers for input and resources like textures and meshes (for 2d geometry models, like quads) and they are all contained in a class "engine" that interacts with them and with a directX class. So each class have some public methods like init or update. They are called by the engine class to render the resources, create them, but a lot of them should not be called by the user: //in pseudo c++ //the textures manager class class TManager { private: vector textures; .... public: init(); update(); renderTexture(); //called by the "engine class" loadtexture(); gettexture(); //called by the user } class Engine { private: Tmanager texManager; public: Init() { //initialize all the managers } Render(){...} Update(){...} Tmanager* GetTManager(){return &texManager;} //to get a pointer to the manager //if i want to create or get textures } In this way the user, calling Engine::GetTmanager will have access to all the public methods of Tmanager, including init update and rendertexture, that must be called only by Engine inside its init, render and update functions.   • How should I architect a personal schedule manager that runs 24/7?

    I've developed an ADHD management system for myself that's attempting to change multiple habits at once. I know this is counter to conventional wisdom, but I've tried the conventional for years & am now trying it my way. (just wanted to say that to try and prevent it from distracting people from the actual question) Anyway, I'd like to write something to run on a remote server that monitors me, helps me build/avoid certain habits, etc. What this amounts to is a system that: runs 24/7 may have multiple independent tasks to run at once may have tasks that require other tasks to run first lets tasks be scheduled by specific time, recurrence (ie. "run every 5 mins"), or interval (ie. "run from 2pm to 3pm") My first naive attempt at this was just a single PHP script scheduled to run every minute by cron (language was chosen in order to use a certain library, but no longer necessary). The logic behind when to run this or that portion of code got hairy pretty quick. So my question is how should I approach this from here? I'm not tied to any one language, though I'm partial to python/javascript. Thoughts: Could be done as a set of scripts that include a scheduling mechanism with one script per bit of logic...but the idea just feels wrong to me. Building it as a daemon could be helpful, but still unsure what to do about dozens of if-else statements for detecting the current time
