• Calculate area under FFT graph in Matlab

  Hiya, Currently I did a FFT of a set of data which gives me a plot with frequency at x axis and amplitude at y axis. I would like to calculate out the area under graph to give me energy. I am not sure how to determinate the area because i am without the equation and also i only want a certain area of the plot rather than whole area under the plot. Is there a way i can do it?

• Why would restarting MySQL make my site faster?

  hey all, my site started dragging lately, the queries taking exceptionally longer than I would expect with properly tuned indexes. I just restarted the mysql server after 31 days uptime and every query is now substantially faster and the whole site renders 3-4 times faster. Would there be anything that jumps out at you as to why this may have been? Improper settings on my.cnf perhaps? Any ideas as to what I can start looking at to try and pinpoint why? thanks

  I'm currently using Vim as a lightweight IDE. I have NERDTree, bufexplorer, supertab, and ctags plugins which do almost everything I want. Only big thing missing for me is auto code formatting. I'm working with some messy PHP code which has inconsistent indenting and code formatting, ideally I could highlight the code I want formatted (whole files would be fine too) and run a command to tidy it. Does anybody have a nice solution for this working in Vim?

• In Java, how do you parse through a single word string?

  I'm trying to parse though a string made up of a single word. How would you go about assigning the last letter of the word to a variable? I was thinking of using the Scanner class to parse the word and make each letter an element in an array but it seems Scanner.next() only goes through whole words and not the individual letters.
