audio error in vmware running mac os x

simple synchronous loading of an audio file (.mp3) in a cocos2d app makes my vmware disconnect the sound. the error is display bottom right, saying 'error in creating sound stream; sound is disconnected' i read that it might be cause of my vmware's version (mine is 8) but I'm looking for a fix, not to downgrade to another version. before i get that error, the sound on the system works just fine (youtube, etc) the exact code im calling is.. <embed> in HTML loaded by Webview Broken in Sense UI

I have a WebView that loads HTML that contains an <embed>. When loading in stock android (G1, NexusOne, Ion, etc) it looks fine and can be clicked on to watch it in the YouTube app. But when loading it using either the HTC EVO or Incredible (both Sense UI phones ) the space where the content should be is completely blank. Try this code below... Any ideas? I'm stumped. Certainly looks like an HTC Sense bug? Programmatic Text Wrapping in TextView

I'm working on a custom widget for my application to replicate the look of a Preference button for layouts. The issue is the 'summary' text wont wrap when it hits the right wall of the view. Drupal Event/Calendar Module not storing event time

Hello, all. I have installed a fresh copy of Drupal on an Xampp server. Within that install is a collection of modules for creating an event calendar. There's actually a great instructional video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO4TeEydtMs for getting all the necessary fields up. So far everything is working except... the events won't store the time as stated in the edit field. No matter what I do in the edit mode as admin or otherwise the time always says 12pm and the event on the calendar says "All Day". I know this is pretty obscure but I figured why not try and ask. RSS feed without items

I have webpage where I have a search page. I provide a "dynamic" RSS feed for search so that a user can subscribe to search results for any search term he likes. So I was wondering what is the standard (or best practise) way to do if that search term returns 0 results which means I have no "items" to put in the feed. Do I just return an empty feed (only including the meta data and no item elements). Or should I put some special item element in the feed with some "no results" text? edit: YouTube returns a feed without any item elements. If no-one can answer me I'll take it that this is the right way of doing it since I can't find any info elsewhere :)

Touch Screen Product Catalog for Retail Store

I am a UI/UX designer and I would like to create kiosk type of app that would be a product catalog (help/suggestor) for customers in a retail store using a touch screen monitor (and computer). Something as simple as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoH0u6YTTK4 This is what I would like it to do: 1st Screen (Main Menu): Pick a type of category (For example: Dog, Cat, Small Animal) 2nd Screen pick a sub-category of a main category (For example: Puppy, Adult, Senior - DOG) 3rd Screen pick a sub-category of previous sub-category (For example: Food, Healthy, Toys) Then it will display a list of all products with a picture, small description, and price. Thats it. So the point of the kiosk is to help customers find certain products that match their pet criteria. (Dog Puppy Healthy Dog Food) I am wondering what is the best solution: RIA (Flex/Air or Silveright) or flash/action script. I am not sure what is the best technology to use for the following benefits: user-experience (smoothness of touch screen actions) and fast development.

Using UIImageViews for 'pages' in an iPhone/iPad storybook app?

I'm new to iPhone programming, and well, what seems obvious to me may seem silly to a seasoned coder. I did a few 'switching views' tutorials on Youtube, and basically, they seems to work nicely for adding pages to a storybook type app. You add a UIViewController and associated view for each page. My question is would this become insanely slow, or a memory hog if I continued this method for say....35+ pages? Each page would also have a sound file associated with it that would play narration when a page load and stops when we leave. Basically, think of a powerpoint type app, with sound, possibly animated image elements, next & back buttons. I'm probably thinking of this very simplistically, but that's where my experience is at for the moment. Any insight or tips as to better and or more efficient ways to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

jquery specific show buttons on hover

I have an application creating a bunch of divs through a loop. Each div has the class "product" so it looks like <div class="product"> !.....stuff here ....! <div class="show_on_hover">...buttons here... </div> </div> so there are about 12 of these same divs per page. I would like to hover over a specific one and show the specific "show_on_hover" div which is initially set to display:none. $('.product').hover(function() { $(.show_on_hover).show(); }, function () { $(.show_on_hover).hide(); } ); That is what I have so far but it will show ALL of the .show_on_hovers on the page so I am wondering how to get only the specific one you have moused over to show. This effect is seen on youtube when you mouseover any of the comments, and some comment tools pop up. Thanks!

However I just realize it is quite tricky, because I want the user select for example tag1, tag2 and tag3, with the mouse. Instead now they disappear when the mouse rolls out from the puppet image. By looking I saw that apparently it would be necessary to use Intent.action_pick_activity but I do not manage to see how using it on my case. I did see from some website, like facebook, youtube, google or twitter, they have different style. Wonder how they do it.

How to replicate Google "Hangouts On Air" stream combining functionality?

I've been researching this one for quite a bit but haven't found any solid leads. I have a Wowza/Flash app with video chatroom functionality and would like to combine the streams server-side into one video/audio stream in order to be sent to a live Youtube channel. I've found a couple projects such as jMixer and some helpful keywords such as "vision mixer" to help with my search but looking for any previous experience or new ideas. The other option is building something like it myself with a commercial video decoding/encoding library to raw frames, stitching the frames together, then encoding it. I was originally going down this route but put project on hold. What are some ideas, keywords, or existing software (open source preferred) to take those live streams and combine them into one in real-time? Or is coding it myself the required route? Thanks!

Specifying a DLL reference

I'm having trouble setting the path to a DLL that is not in the same directory as the executable. I have a reference to dllA.dll. At present, everything is just copied into the same directory and all is well; however, I need to move the executable to another directory while still referencing the DLL in the original directory. So, it's setup like: C:\Original\Dir program.exe dllA.dll dllB.dll dllC.dll But I need to have it setup like: C:\New\Dir program.exe dllB.dll dllC.dl Such that it is still able to reference dllA.dll in C:\Original\dir I tried the following, but to no avail: Set the "Copy Local" value to false for dllA.dll because I want it to be referenced in its original location. Under "Tools Options Projects and Solutions VC++ Directories" I have added the path to "C:\Original\Dir" Added "C:\Original\Dir" to both the PATH and LIB environment variables At runtime, it informs me that it cannot locate dllA.dll Maybe the above steps I took only matter at compile time? I was able to find this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1382704/c-specifying-a-location-for-dll-reference But I was thinking that my above method should've worked. Any ideas?

recursive wget with hotlinked requisites

I often use wget to mirror very large websites. Sites that contain hotlinked content (be it images, video, css, js) pose a problem, as I seem unable to specify that I would like wget to grab page requisites that are on other hosts, without having the crawl also follow hyperlinks to other hosts. For example, let's look at this page https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11471672/wget-all-the-things.html Let's pretend that this is a large site that I would like to completely mirror, including all page requisites – including those that are hotlinked. wget -e robots=off -r -l inf -pk ^^ gets everything but the hotlinked image wget -e robots=off -r -l inf -pk -H ^^ gets everything, including hotlinked image, but goes wildly out of control, proceeding to download the entire web wget -e robots=off -r -l inf -pk -H --ignore-tags=a ^^ gets the first page, including both hotlinked and local image, does not follow the hyperlink to the site outside of scope, but obviously also does not follow the hyperlink to the next page of the site. I know that there are various other tools and methods of accomplishing this (HTTrack and Heritrix allow for the user to make a distinction between hotlinked content on other hosts vs hyperlinks to other hosts) but I'd like to see if this is possible with wget. Ideally this would not be done in post-processing, as I would like the external content, requests, and headers to be included in the WARC file I'm outputting.

Where to find viterbi algorithm transition values for natural language processing?

I just watched a video where they used Viterbi algorithm to determine whether certain words in a sentence are intended to be nouns/verbs/adjs etc, they used transition and emission probabilities, for example the probability of the word 'Time' being used as a verb is known (emission) and the probability of a noun leading onto a verb (transition). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_q82UMtjoM&feature=relmfu (The video) How can I find a good dataset of transition and emission probabilities for this use-case? Or EVEN just a single example with all the probabilities displayed, I want to use realistic numbers in a demonstration.
