  • shorewall masquerading from tun0 to ppp0

    First interface is ppp0 (pptp vpn) Second inteface is tun0 (openvpn) Third interface eth0 (default gw interface) Openvpn is set to change default route on client for all packets to go through tun0 vpn, that part is working ok. I would like to make all packets from tun0 go to ppp0 and get out from that interface (MASQ) but somehow they always end up on eth0 (default gw interface) /etc/shorewall/masq ppp0 tun0 doesn't seem to work

  • How do you passthrough native SATA drives to a guest on ESXi?

    I have ESXi 4.0 running on an Intel DX58S0 Mothboardboard with an Intel Core i7 930 processor. VT-d is also enabled. I have three drives in the system, drive 0 is used for ESXi. Drive 1 and 2 contain data from an older machine and show up under the "Storage Adapters" section in configuration. I would like to allow a guest machine to access the data on these drives (as nativly as possible). I have enabled passthrough of the motherboard's built in SATA controller (Intel/Marvell 88SE6121 ). This controller shows up in my guest OS, but the guest shows no drives aside from the normal virtual drive. I have tried a Linux guest and Windows7. I have also configured the host machine to try IDE/RAID/ACHI modes for the SATA controller. Any ideas how I can configure one of my guests to get at the raw data on these drives?

Mail started flowing (Domain POP was successful) etc. etc. But I forgot to check if webmail worked from the outside admittedly. But the webservers at 172.21.37.17 and 172.21.37.24 still didn't respond from the outside world. Although I was able to PPTP VPN in on 321.321.39.10 (interface) which is the outside interface IP address. and it is static mapped to 172.21.37.20. So I'm thinking there must be something wrong with NAT somewhere? no response from 321.321.39.11 to 321.321.39.14.. Could anyone look over the config and please let me know what I've done wrong? Is there something I've missed? well obviously but.. please help! Thank you.

  • Setting MTU on Exalogic

    For many reasons, a system administrator may want to change the MTU settings of a server. But in a system like Exalogic which contains lots of interconnected nodes and other various components, it's important to understand how this applies to the different networks. For example, when bringing up bonding of InfiniBand an error like the following may be thrown: Bringing up interface bond1: SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument Both scripts ifcfg-ib0 and ifcfg-ib1 (from the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ direectory) have MTU set to 65500, which is a valid MTU value only if all IPoIB slaves operate in connected mode and are configured with the same value, so the line below must be added to both network scripts and then restart the network: CONNECTED_MODE=yes By the way, an error of the form “SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument” indicates that the requested MTU was rejected by the kernel. Typically this would be due to it exceeding the maximum value supported by the interface hardware. In that case you must either reduce the MTU to a value that is supported or obtain more capable hardware. This problem has been seen when trying to modify the MTU using the ifconfig command, like the output of the example below: [root@elxxcnxx ~]# ifconfig ib1 mtu 65520 SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument It's important to insist that in most cases the nodes must be rebooted after the MTU size has been changed. Although in some circumstances it may work without a reboot, it is not how it is typically documented. Now, in order to achieve a reduced memory consumption and improve performance for network traffic received on IPoIB related interfaces, it is recommend to reduce the MTU value in interface configuration files for IPoIB related bonds from 65520 to 64000. The change needs to be made to interface configuration files under the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory and applies to the interface configuration files for bonds over IPoIB related slave devices, for example /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond1. However, keep in mind that the numeric portion of the interface filenames that corresponding to IPoIB interfaces is expected to vary across compute nodes and vServers and so cannot be relied upon to identify which interface files are for bonds are over IPoIB rather than EoIB related slave interfaces. To fix these MTU values to the recommended settings, there are very useful instructions and a script on the MOS Note 1624434.1, and it's applicable physical and virtual configurations of Exalogic. Regarding the recommended MTU value for EoIB related interfaces, its maximum appropriate value is 1500. If for some reason a vServer has been created with a higher value (set on the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond0 file), then it must be fixed. An error like the following could be thrown under this circumstance: [root@vServer ~]# service network restart ... Bringing up interface bond0:  SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument Also an error like the one below can be seen on the /var/log/messages file of the vServer: kernel: T5074835532 [mlx4_vnic] eth1:vnic_change_mtu:360: failed: new_mtu 64000 2026 The MOS Note 1611657.1 is very useful for this purpose.

    Continuing our Social Developer theme, we're excited to announce a week long hackathon put on by the Oracle Social Developer Lab (OSDL). The event starts at JavaOne Oct 2nd and runs through Oct 9th. A winner will be announced and profiled in the following issue of Java Magazine. What's it about?The OSDL is on a mission to make social development easier for the Java community. You may have noticed the biggest social networks have created tools for Ruby, PHP, and other languages, but not as much for Java. We've decided to help fill the gap with a SocialLink social publishing library. You can learn more about it on Java.net. We're also interested in promoting other tools that facilitate social development such as DaliCore Framework.  For our hack, you've got one week to leverage our library and/or DailCore to create a social app. The only rules are it must be a new application, and it must leverage one or both of these tools.  How to submit Create a project that uses either the SocialLink library or the DaliCore Framework to read or publish social data. 1.   • Developer with 4 years experience with Java/C++. How to move into web programming? [closed]

I graduated in 2006 with a computer science degree and got solid grades (3.5 overall 3.8 in my major) For the past 4.5 years I've been working as a Software Engineer doing primarily rich client development. Most of my experience is with Java, Swing and C++. I've done a lot of network programming and I have acquired some skill working & debugging in distributed environments. I would like to switch jobs and move into a role where I can get exposure to some new technologies and frameworks. I would like to move into a more web development role but I find my lack of web development experience is hurting me. 90% of the jobs I see advertised are looking for one of two skill sets: 1) Stereotypical server side Java web developer. Experience with Spring, Hibernate, J2EE, etc. 2) Stereotypical front end web developer. Experience with Javascript, jQuery, HTML5, GWT, CSS, etc I find most of these companies are looking really specifically for this experience and they are not willing to take on good programmers/ CS fundamental guys who lack experience with this stuff. I would love to get a job doing stuff like this, but have my skills become out of date and unmarketable? Any opinions on ways to sell myself to help get a new position?

  • Booting a native Windows install in Virtualbox: is it possible?

    I am looking for something similiar to Bootcamp. Currently, I run Ubuntu Maveric as my primary operating system and run Windows 7 in Virtualbox. For some tasks, however, running Windows virtualized just seems to result in too much overhead and speed loss, and I'd like to be able to boot natively. The ideal situation would be to setup Windows and Ubuntu in dual boot on seperate partitions, with the ability to boot the Windows partition in Virtualbox on Ubuntu as well. Is this possible? Also, how it is that Bootcamp seems to be the only system capable of this?

In the time freeze there is option to excusing file and folder. if I find the location of vpn setting that save the user name and pasword, I will have ability to use without unfreezing and re freezing. There is a location with path %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk\ that contain vpn configurations except user name and password. I need the location that store user name and password.

    Hi I have an interface something like this: interface IGenericSetupViewModel<T> I then have a default implemtation of this, something like this class GenericSetupViewModel<T> : IGenericSetupViewModel<T> For some specific classes i have a specific implementation like this: class ContractSetupViewModel : GenericSetupViewModel<Contract> Now i want to make StructureMap return the correct instance, when asking for a ObjectFactory.GetInstance<GenericSetupViewModel<Contract>(); I would like to get ContractSetupViewModel returned, when asking for anything else, i would like to get an instance of GenericSetupViewModel<T> I tried doing this: StructureMap.ObjectFactory.Configure(x => { x.Scan(y => { y.TheCallingAssembly(); y.AddAllTypesOf(typeof(IGenericSetupViewModel<>)); y.ConnectImplementationsToTypesClosing(typeof(IGenericSetupViewModel<>)); }); }); However this results in me always getting a GenericSetupViewModel and never the ContractSetupViewModel. I dont want to have to specify all specific viewmodels so is there anyway i can get this scan to work ?

  • no namenode error in pseudo-mode

    I'm new to hadoop and is in learning phase. As per Hadoop Definitve guide, i have set up my hadoop in pseudo distributed mode and everything was working fine. I was even able to execute all the examples from chapter 3 yesterday. Today, when i rebooted my unix and tried to run start-dfs.sh and then tried http://localhost/50070....it is showing error and when i try to stop dfs (stop-dfs.sh) it says no namenode to stop. I have been googling the issue but no result. Also, when i format my namenode again...everything starts working fine and i'm able to connect to the localhost/50070 and even replicate files and directories in hdfs but as soon as i restart my linux and try to connect to hdfs the same problem comes up.   • NMock2.0 - how to stub a non interface call?

    Hello, I have a class API which has full code coverage and uses DI to mock out all the logic in the main class function (Job.Run) which does all the work. I found a bug in production where we werent doing some validation on one of the data input fields. So, I added a stub function called ValidateFoo()... Wrote a unit test against this function to Expect a JobFailedException, ran the test - it failed obviously because that function was empty. I added the validation logic, and now the test passes. Great, now we know the validation works. Problem is - how do I write the test to make sure that ValidateFoo() is actually called inside Job.Run()? ValidateFoo() is a private method of the Job class - so it's not an interface... Is there anyway to do this with NMock2.0? I know TypeMock supports fakes of non interface types. But changing mock libs right now is not an option. At this point if NMock can't support it, I will simply just add the ValidateFoo() call to the Run() method and test things manually - which obviously I'd prefer not to do considering my Job.Run() method has 100% coverage right now. Any Advice? Thanks very much it is appreciated. EDIT: the other option I have in mind is to just create an integration test for my Job.Run functionality (injecting to it true implementations of the composite objects instead of mocks). I will give it a bad input value for that field and then validate that the job failed. This works and covers my test - but it's not really a unit test but instead an integration test that tests one unit of functionality.... hmm.. EDIT2: IS there any way to do tihs? Anyone have ideas? Maybe TypeMock - or a better design?

  • What would cause native gem extensions on OS X to build but fail to load?

    I am having trouble with some of my rubygems, in particular those that use native extensions. I am on a MacBookPro, with Snow Leopard. I have XCode 3.2.1 installed, with gcc 4.2.1. Ruby 1.8.6, because I'm lazy and a scaredy cat and don't want to upgrade yet. Ruby is running in 32-bit mode. I built this ruby from scratch when my MBP ran OSX 10.4. When I require one of the affected gems in irb, I get a Load Error for the gem extension's bundle file. For example, here's nokogigi dissing me: > require 'rubygems' = true > require 'nokogiri' LoadError: Failed to load /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/nokogiri-1.4.1/lib/nokogiri/nokogiri.bundle This is also happening with the Postgres pg and MongoDB mongo gems. My first thought was that the extensions must not be building right. But gem install wasn't throwing any errors. So I reinstalled with the verbose flag, hoping to see some helpful warnings. I've put the output in a Pastie, and the only warning I see is a consistent one about "passing argument n of ‘foo’ with different width due to prototype." I suspect that this might be an issue from upgrading to Snow Leopard, but I'm a little surprised to experience it now, since I've updated my XCode. Could it stem from running Ruby in 1.8.6? I'm embarrassed that I don't know quite enough about my Mac and OSX to know where to look next, so any guidance, even just a pointer to some document I couldn't find via Google, would be most welcome. To make sure I'm not going insane I stripped down the classes to their bare minimum inorder to find what was wrong. I'm new to android programming and I'm sure I'm missing something basic.     I have a Windows service built with ATL to expose a LocalServer32 COM interface for a set of admin commands used for configuring the service, and these can be used from VBScript for example: Set myObj = WScript.CreateObject("MySvc.Administrator") myObj.DoSomething() I want DoSomething to run elevated, and I would like the UAC prompt to come up automatically when this is called by the VBScript. Is this possible? I know I can run the script in an elevated command shell, and that I can use objShell.ShellExecute WScript.FullName, Chr(34) & WScript.ScriptFullName & Chr(34), vbNullString, "runas" for example, to run the VBScript itself elevated, and either of those work fine -- the COM method finds itself elevated. However, AFAIK getting an elevated Explorer window on the desktop is convoluted (it's not as simple as right-clicking Start/Accessories/Windows Explorer/Run as Administrator, which doesn't actually elevate.) I want a user in the local admin group to be able to drag-and-drop files and folders onto the script, and then have the script call the admin COM interface with those pathnames as arguments. (And I am hoping for something simpler than monkeying around with the args and using ShellExecute "runas".) I've tried setting UAC Execution Level to requireAdministrator in the service EXE's manifest, and setting Elevated/Enabled = 1 and LocalizedString in the registry for the MySvc.Administrator class, and these don't do the trick.

  • Problems using (building?) native gem extensions on OS X

    I am having trouble with some of my rubygems, in particular those that use native extensions. I am on a MacBookPro, with Snow Leopard. I have XCode 3.2.1 installed, with gcc 4.2.1. Ruby 1.8.6, because I'm lazy and a scaredy cat and don't want to upgrade yet. Ruby is running in 32-bit mode. I built this ruby from scratch when my MBP ran OSX 10.4. When I require one of the affected gems in irb, I get a Load Error for the gem extension's bundle file. For example, here's nokogigi dissing me: > require 'rubygems' = true > require 'nokogiri' LoadError: Failed to load /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/nokogiri-1.4.1/lib/nokogiri/nokogiri.bundle This is also happening with the Postgres pg and MongoDB mongo gems. My first thought was that the extensions must not be building right. But gem install wasn't throwing any errors. So I reinstalled with the verbose flag, hoping to see some helpful warnings. I've put the output in a Pastie, and the only warning I see is a consistent one about "passing argument n of ‘foo’ with different width due to prototype." I suspect that this might be an issue from upgrading to Snow Leopard, but I'm a little surprised to experience it now, since I've updated my XCode. Could it stem from running Ruby in 1.8.6? I'm embarrassed that I don't know quite enough about my Mac and OSX to know where to look next, so any guidance, even just a pointer to some document I couldn't find via Google, would be most welcome.   • How do I put all the types matching a particular C# interface in an IDictionary?

    I have a number of classes all in the same interface, all in the same assembly, all conforming to the same generic interface: public class AppleFactory : IFactory<Apple> { ... } public class BananaFactory : IFactory<Banana> { ... } // ... It's safe to assume that if we have an IFactory<T> for a particular T that it's the only one of that kind. (That is, there aren't two things that implement IFactory<Apple>.) I'd like to use reflection to get all these types, and then store them all in an IDictionary, where the key is typeof(T) and the value is the corresponding IFactory<T>. I imagine eventually we would wind up with something like this: _map = new Dictionary<Type, object>(); foreach(Type t in [...]) { object factoryForType = System.Reflection.[???](t); _map[t] = factoryForType; } What's the best way to do that? I'm having trouble seeing how I'd do that with the System.Reflection interfaces.

  • Is there a way to capture a bitmap from a WPF window using native C++?

    Imagine a document window in a MDI application which contains a child WPF window, say a sidebar for example. How can one get a bitmap containing both the WPF pixels AND the GDI (non-wpf) pixels? I've discovered that when making my thumbnail preview for the Win7 taskbar app icon hover, I get black in the parts of the preview where the WPF pixels should be. My current method simply grabs a bitmap capture of the document window. Then I get a DC for the preview, make a memory DC from it and select my bitmap into it. Then I do some size adjustments and bitblt the memory dc to the real dc. I'm guessing that the BitBlt operation doesn't take into account the fact that the WPF pixels are hardware accelerated and therefore need to be grabbed from the graphics hardware. All the stuff in GDI is managed just fine, though and when there's no WPF child windows, the preview image looks fine. I'm wondering if it's at all possible to grab a bitmap of the WPF window from native C++. Then I can blt that onto the black area of the previous preview.

  • Can AutoMapper create a map for an interface and then map with a derived type?

    I have an interface IFoo: public interface IFoo { int Id { get; set; } } And then a concrete implementation: public class Bar : IFoo { public int Id { get; set; } public string A { get; set; } } public class Baz : IFoo { public int Id { get; set; } public string B { get; set; } } I'd like to be able to map all IFoo but specifying their derived type instead: Mapper.CreateMap<int, IFoo>().AfterMap((id, foo) => foo.Id = id); And then map (without explicitly creating maps for Bar and Baz): var bar = Mapper.Map<int, Bar>(123); // bar.Id == 123 var baz = Mapper.Map<int, Baz>(456); // baz.Id == 456 But this doesn't work in 1.1. I know I could specify all Bar and Baz but if there are 20 of these, I'd like to not have to manage them and rather just have what I did above for creating the map. Is this possible?
